Always get S1: BBQ chicken with shrimp fried rice or S2: Bbq pork spare ribs with the shrimp fried rice. If you like seafood, S7: the Dearest crab with shrimp fried rice is great. Too many little flies in that place and those little creatures started jumping into our foods. We found three dead flies in all different dishes, so we complained about that. And the server said "I don't know...those flies are only coming to your table, not to others" She must be joking. Hahahaha! I wish I had liked this place more - I really wanted to! Maybe it's because it was take-out, but my friend and I were really disappointed with the food we got from this place. We got egg rolls, papaya salad, basil chicken, and chicken curry to go - the egg rolls were fine, and the papaya salad was mediocre, but the basil chicken and chicken curry were both so oily the take-out containers started falling apart. We could see the puddle of oil forming above the chicken curry, and even after we tried to mix it all together, the oil would just float to the top. The prices are pretty good though - it was ~$40 for all that food. I would want to give this place another try another time maybe, but for now, I think I will get my take-out from someplace else. read more

We really enjoy the food here. The Tom Yum Kai soup, assorted fried rice, Pad Kee Mow noodles, and Pad Thai noodles have always been on point. This resto gets crowded so we try to eat dinner on the Senior Citizen timetable to avoid a long wait. Service isn't the friendliest, but it's quick and fairly efficient. So not gonna like but I found this place by searching restaurants in the Cerritos area. I didn't even bother with looking at the photos because I didn't want to get hungrier but decided to try this place out with some friends since all other restaurants in the area had a wait of more than an hour (and we wanted to pick a place ASAP). We (party of 10) arrived here at around 730 pm on a Saturday and was seated within 10 minutes so that was convenient! We were all starving but everything looked so good. I ended up getting their half BBQ chicken combo plate and my boyfriend got the beef sate skewer combo. We also shared the tom yum soup with some friends and wow! If you like your tom yum soup sour, you definitely gotta try it out! The BBQ chicken I got was juicy and full of BBQ flavor. Kind of weird since I never thought BBQ would be something in Thai cuisine. It had some of the peanut sauce they usually have for dipping their beef and chicken sate skewers along with a sweet chili sauce but for me, I thought it was more on the sweeter side overall for the chicken. Each combo dish came with shrimp fried rice which was plain enough but had enough flavor to make counter balance the sweetness of the chicken. My boyfriend got the beef sate skewers and usually there isn't much meat on the stick (or at least the ones I've been to) and here they give you a lot! I believe there were 8 skewers and the meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked so they weren't dry and super juicy! It also came with the shrimp fried rice and a cup of their cucumber salad. One thing I gotta say about the shrimp fried rice is that they don't skimp out on the shrimp! I got at least 5-7 pieces of shrimp with my rice! Overall this place is pretty good! It is on the sweeter tasting which I'm okay with but I guess I was craving something slty from the beginning. The prices are reasonable and you get a lot of food for the price you pay! read more

Thai Original BBQ is my go-to Thai food restaurants in Cerritos for their consistency, overall value, and just the taste of the food itself. Although the place has $$ it's really not that expensive and is affordable compared to other Thai food places in the area. The dishes I always get here is the Beef Pad See Ew, Chicken Satay (House Special), and 1/2 of the BBQ Chicken. Pad See Ew: You can choose your choice of meat (beef, chicken, pork) and I like how they don't charge you extra for choosing a different type of meat (ex. beef would be $1.50 more than chicken). Unlike traditional Pad See Ew, this one comes with broccoli instead of the Chinese broccoli but it's still good! Standard Pad See Ew for a reasonable price of $8.50. Chicken Satay: This dish is around $12 because we typically order it was a dinner special, which means it comes with a LARGE side of fried rice. The chicken satay itself has a good curry flavor without being too overpowering and the meat is a good portion. It also comes with cucumber salad and peanut sauce. BBQ Chicken: ONE OF THE BEST DISHES HERE. If you come here you definitely have to try this dish! The meat is fall of the bone and has a smoky flavor without being burnt. This dish also comes with a heaping side of their fried rice. I prefer this dish over the spareribs (which are a little fatty) The overall value of this place is amazing and for a party of 3 we pay around $33 AND still have leftovers to bring home. Slow, confused emoloyees, and smallest portions ive ever seen at a thai restaurant. I ordered the a la carte basil chicken for pick up. They told me 20 minutes, so I got there in 25. The lady couldn't find my order for a bit, so she went in back, then came out acting like she found it. Apparently she had just reordered it without informing me, so I paid. Otherwise I'd have just left and gone somewhere else. I waited another 15 to 20 mins outside. When the food came out, it was in a small sack and sealed in one of those soup containers that you get a bowl in. I double checked to make sure they hadn't messed up the order and she said that's what it is. Ill post a picture. It was so ridiculous that i just had to laugh and shake my head. Way back in the day, we would eat at this restaurant regularly since I grew up in Cerritos. I was home over Christmas break and I'm so glad that Thai Original BBQ is still around because we had a chance to meet up with some old friends who also grew up eating here. Not much has changed and that's a great thing. They still have awesome lunch specials, the staff is still super, and the food is still delicious. This is a favorite spot for locals and there's usually a wait, but we lucked out and got a table before the lunch rush began. One of my favorite dishes here is the L-1, BBQ Chicken with Fried Rice, a super flavorful chicken served with the signature rice and cucumber salad as a side for less than $8. There are other several inexpensive yet satisfying specials for lunch, but you can't go wrong at dinner, either, since they also have specials then, too. I highly recommend the S-3, Rama Shrimp special served with big shrimp in a creamy butter sauce or the S-11, the Chicken Ruby Dinner with a deep fried Cornish hen stuffed with shrimp and pork. I haven't had those dishes in years, but I can still vouch for their tastiness. It's nice to know that quality dining establishments such as Thai Original BBQ have stood the test of time and I hope it continues to do what it does so well for many more years to come. read more

I usually drench the duck w honey dipping sauce they offer on the side. The PadThai is on the sweeter side but it's still delicious. The only complaint that I have is the stuffed angel wings. Our chicken and sparerib dinners arrived quickly. They no longer have hot sauce or peanuts on the tables. We didn't need that extra shrimp fried rice after all. Love this place! Been going here for years since they were in Fullerton before it closed. Food is fresh and always spiced so perfectly. At this Cerritos location only ate here twice pre-pandemic but too dark so we always have gotten it to go since. Their old Fullerton location called one of our faves Beef Chili Fried Rice and used real fresh sliced green chilis for seasoning but here in Cerritos it's called Basil Fried Rice. Not a fan of basil so I just ask for no basil. They also flavor it here with crushed red chili flakes which is not my fave as it makes it too spicy even on the mild flavor. The fav in my family are the Beef Satay. Soooo tender and tasty. Never dry or lacking in flavor. We order 3 or 4 orders under the appetizer section. Also love the drunken noodle and chicken noodle, no lettuce. Reasonable pricing considering how expensive food is right now. I'm from San Diego and I actually drove all the way up here just to eat here just because I had a crazy craving! My first time actually trying this branch was in Manila and that restaurant was bougie but when I drove up to this spot in Cerritos, it looked run down. We waited around 45minutes for a table for two around 6:30pm on a Saturday so this place was packed! Anyways we got seated, ordered a ton of food and went to town! This is a very long overdue review. During my high school years over 15+ years ago, there were not many Thai food places in town. This was really the only Thai food restaurant, unless we went to the San Gabriel Valley Area. This place was authentic and delicious. The go to dishes was the Thai BBQ spare ribs with rice. However, I also enjoyed their pad Thai, pad see-ew, and drunken noodle. They were always so delicious and seasoned well that you can remember the taste of each dish after completion.
