Today I went eating at this wonderful restaurant, Thai palace In Wolcott. I tried something special named Sriracha fried rice which tasted so good, and was medium spicy! Also, me and my closest friends loved the selection of appetizers and the chicken cooked with garlic. We tried the Fried cheese cake for desert and the homemade Thai Iced Tea with pearls. Uhh so yummy ! Talking about service, was very nice even though there was a young lady that couldn't speak English at all, which was always smiling and saying sorry all the times. Then, one Thai lady named Nikki, which was the owner, came and made sure everything was good. She had a lovely smile which made us feeling very welcomed. We loved it, was a night to remember! We are looking forward to come back and order more. A must try place, bc deserves 10/5 stars! read more

I can't even begin to describe how much I love this place! I have tried Thai food several times at different places and never found it to be too appealing. I decided to give it one last try when a friend recommended this place to me. I had driven by it several times and never saw too many cars so I thought it must not be too great. Boy, was I wrong! We decided to try this place for our 4 year anniversary. Surprisingly it was very busy for a Wednesday night. It's not a very big restaurant but its very cozy. There were two different childrens birthday parties going on. We went with our infant and toddler as well. To our surprise the restaurant is a BYOB. We were surprised because we haven't been to one of those yet. lol. We started off with the Thai shrimp roll for appetizer and were very disappointed. There were more vegetables than shrimp. We counted one shrimp cut up per roll. Which is why I gave it 4 stars. After having that we were worried if the food was going to be good or we made a mistake choosing this place. I order the Spicy Thai Fried Rice with Chicken which was delicious. I had enough for lunch the next day. My husband ordered the GANG KEAW WAN which was stated the spiciest but wasn't at all. However, they gave us hot peppers to add. The curry was very decadent. Not too much coconut milk perfect blend of flavors. We were very happy with our meals. Surprisingly, for the amount of food we got the bill was not pretty decent. Next time we will try some other appetizers. read more

Thai Palace is a wonderful establishment. The couple that owns the place are always friendly and are grateful for your business. The food is absolutely delicious and I've tried most dishes on the menu. My personal favorite is their spicy fried rice with chicken. For appetizers, I always get the coconut shrimp and fried dumplings. However, you really can't go wrong. For those of you who like spice request the spice rack for extra heat. You usually have 3 or 4 selections of sauces to add to your dish. Not for the faint of heart! The service is always attentive and pleasant. This place is BYOB. This restaurant was recommended to me as authentic by a native of Thailand. The outside looks very ordinary, but inside is a lovely decor, friendly service, and the best Thai food I've experienced. I've returned many times for lunch, sampled most of the vegetarian options, and can't find anything here that's not first-rate, starting with the peanut-sauce based salad dressing. The BYOB policy is a plus. My highest recommendation is the green curry with vegetables and tofu puffs. For dessert, the fried cheesecake with vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce borders on the sublime. Bring someone to share it with. read more

Stopped here on the way home from a trip to Rhode Island. Looks like a quaint and unassuming stop from the curb, and it is. The simple yet pleasant decor and the nice rapport between owners/staff and the customers makes this a nice stop. If I were a local, I'd probably frequent Thai Palace. The service was friendly and prompt. I had the fried cheesecake for dessert and it was amazing! The only downside to the visit was an average entree. I had the Pad Kra Prow and the order came out surprisingly fast. The restaurant appears to do a good take out business and my meal had a takeout kind of feel. Thai Palace is perfection. Service is spot on and their food exceeds expectations. I had the Pad See Iw vegetarian tonight and it was brought out to me at lightning speed! The noodle to veggie ratio was spot on. Vegetables were perfectly cooked and there were at least a few different types of veggies, no bell peppers thank goodness! The noodles just melted in my mouth. Mmmmm mmmm! The restaurant was recently painted and nicely decorated which was a good indicator from the start. You always worry a bit when a restaurant is in disrepair. Only Thai food you'll find near Waterbury. Never ate in the dining room but have ordered takeout several times. The pad Thai is good, so is the ke mao (drunken noods), pad see iw, chicken satay, spring rolls, masamon, heck, it's all tasty. Limited English speaking staff, but it's not a significant barrier. This place has changed hands so many times I hope this time sticks. Figure about $10 for an entree, which seems standard for Thai joints in CT. I've experienced some variety in the quality of the food, as if a different chef was cooking that night but it's usually predictably delicious. I work nearby and was very curious to try this place out. The staff was very nice. However, I was not impressed with the dishes that I ordered. The Shrimp Tom Yum soup was salty and the broth was thick for my liking. A strainer or skimmer should be used for a clearer broth. The chicken larb was not so great either. They did not use fresh lime juice so I wouldn't say this dish was very authentic. It was heavily drenched in this store bought lime juice which made it very difficult to eat. The best thing there is their Thai iced tea. Other than that, I will not be returning. I wish them the best. read more

I'm usually pretty tight with my stars. I guess you could say that either I am wayyyy too picky, or the places we go to just don't care about what they are doing. When I find a place that messes up almost everything, I love going into every little detail about how they screwed up, just so next time, you or even me if I decide to go back will have a better experience. When I come across a place where everyone is polite and friendly and the food is good too, well I just have to let everyone know that we found a spot we are going to again, and you should try them out too. The Thai Palace is one of those places. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. The parking lot is littered with potholes, and the building itself almost makes it look like a "try me if you dare" kind of a place. I've lived in Wolcott over 20 years, and in that time there have probably been about a dozen different restaurants here. It's a tough spot to make a go of it, but these guys are worth stopping in for. Once inside, the decor is actually kind of nice. Everything has a nice thai/oriental flair, and the hostess greets you almost immediately. All the staff is friendly and attentive. We couldn't really decide what to get, so we ordered a little of this and that. My sweetheart ordered both the satay and the BBQ pork for her appetizers, while I opted for the thai palace rolls and the dumplings. Each one of these came with its own "special" sauce. We split all the apps, and everything was very tasty. Then we both had "Gang Jud Woonsen" (I copied the name off the take out menu), which is basically Thai chicken noodle soup. They use ground chicken which I didn't think I was going to like, mixed with clear glass noodles, some veggies and the chicken broth, and it all works well together. Definitely worth a try. For the main courses my sweetheart ordered vegetable "Gang Panang", which is a curry dish. I ordered beef "Pad See Iw", which is beef mixed with big flat noodles, veggies, and a brown sauce ( kind of like chinese chow fun), and we got "Gai-Yang" to share, which is grilled cornish game hen with thai spices and a plum sauce. Personally I don't like curry, so I didn't have any of that, but my sweetheart said it was good, but just a hair to creamy for her taste. My dish was really good. It was full of flavor, the noodles were not mushy, and there was plenty of sliced beef in it. The cornish hen was really good also, nice and spicy but not overpoweringly so. The hen meat was moist, not dry and overdone. All in all this place had it all, a friendly, attentive staff, a nice atmosphere inside the place, and really good food too! I read through a few of the other reviews that complained that the food here is not "authentic". I don't know about that because I have never been to Thailand, but it was well made, tasty, fresh, and presented nicely. I recommend the Thai Palace wholeheartedly. OK, this was the second time we have been, & I can't wait to go back. Good food, good service. We had the Gang Massam, and Gang Panam- with duck, also chicken, and also mixed seafood. All were quite good, but kudos to their duck. All dishes that had the duck came out crispy on the outside & tender and juicy on the inside. BYOB is a big plus too- a lot of bang for your buck here. The only criticism on the part of my spouse: the establishment insists on keeping their double doors open, apparently a no-no as far as health codes go. This bugs him (no pun intended-lol), but the place did not seem to have any flying bugs, and appeared pretty clean to my picky eye. Decor was adequate; not fancy but not a dive either. read more

I always seem to forget that Thai Palace is here. It has changed names many times and years back I had gone there and was only mildly impressed. Plus, it's on the other side of town and let's face it, I get lazy. But when I do make the trek, Thai palace never disappoints...well, almost never. I usually go for the standard spring rolls, green curry, pad thai or drunken noodles. All delicious and if I was having a random "cry and eat like a fat girl" moment, I could probably polish the majority of it off buttttt..mostly, I share. I do have one complaint though. Although extremely sweet and apologetic, and I mean this most sincerely, the man who took my order over the phone last time should be placed on another duty. It took me about 10 times at different speeds and volumes, to explain exactly what I wanted. I'm sure he's a lovely man, but answering phones is not his forte. Also, I had ordered the chicken Larb last time and it did not come with lettuce to eat it with :(. Thank God I had some half brown romaine in the fridge! read more

Very authentic Thai!! So flavorful. Ive eaten here more times then I can count on my fingers, nothing is ever bad. My husband loves the chicken gang dang which is made of a rich broth of coconut milk and curry with red peppers, water chestnuts, badil and green beans, delish! The pad thai is my frequent choice, I add cilantro. Its not fishy like some I've had. We get the shrimp wrapped in puff pastry and sometimes fresh rolls that are huge. Would recommend reservations on the weekends, its a small spot, but so interesting amd cozy inside. The staff are super friendly and accommodating too. Moderately priced. read more

I feel like Thai Palace is very underrated. On the outside it doesn't look like much but when you go inside it is beautiful. It's on the smaller side but the decorations are very nice. It is byob so you can bring your own drinks soda, wine, etc. Service is great. Their salad dressing is delicious. And for an appetizer I recommend their wings. I cannot remember what they are called but they were seasoned with garlic and lime I believe. We were looking a new Thai place, and we found a perfect gem! Thai Palace is delicious retreat and a pleasant surprise. We went for my girlfriend's birthday (Thai is her favorite!). She likes it very hot, while I like mild. She ordered the Veggie Red Curry while I had the Thai Palace Spicy Noodle. Both were EXCELLENT! And they also sang Happy Birthday, and included dessert. Stopped by this place on our way back from a day trip for dinner. Exterior looks okay but what a great find. Everything we ordered was tasty and fresh. The service was on the stop and they customized some of our entrees to specific needs. I love extremely spicy food and they made it hot hot hot. i ordered the Tom Yum soup, some, Thai salad with extra chilies, Thai spring rolls, few curries and spicy fried rice. I loved it. Our server(female) was very informative about the menu and made sure everything was carefully made since our group had a few vegetarians that don't eat any kind of meats or non veg stocks. Wow now you all know I love Thai food. This is one of the best Thai food restaurants I have been to all over America. The food is very traditional and so well spiced. If you come here it's a simple little cute homy restaurant but the food is impeccable . Wow I wish I didn't live so far. Took a Tom Ka soup to go for tomorrow's lunch because it was soooooo good. Summer 2015. I'll never forget....I ordered the Pad Thai and it must have been a bad batch because it gave me food poisoning. I was in bed shivering and sweating like a sick pig. Just horrible. I will never order from here again.
