This is the place to go in Athens for good Thai or Chinese food for a great price. Take it to go or eat in, the staff is always polite and the food comes out quickly. I've had both the lo mein and the pad Thai and I highly recommend both. You can pick your spice level on any dish, which is a huge plus. I've also had the crab Rangoon and would recommend. This place is fantastic. My colleague and I came here for an event so we decided to see what there is around. We came here during lunch the first day and Kiersten was our server. She is absolutely fantastic! The food is amazing and the prices are amazing! Coming from PA, I actually like this Thai place better than Thai restaurants in Philadelphia. We are obsessed with the Drunken Noodles (we got it with shrimp) and the Spicy Eggplant. The service is wonderful and fast. We came here again for dinner and Nick was our server. He was very accommodating and suggested the Garlic Fried Calamari which was amazing. The following day we can back and had Kiersten again. First of all, the food was very good but the service was less than mediocre. The service was actually.. bad. Butong, our waitress was not very friendly nor did she give us prompt service even though the restaurant was not very busy. We were there for over 2 hours and that does not make sense for lunch. We had to flag another waitress down to order and refill drinks. We ordered curry and the rice portion was VERY stingy and small. Butong told us that we could not have more rice unless we ate it there which does not make sense after paying $13 for the meal and our leftovers is basically very expensive curry soup. We were charged an automatic 18% gratuity including 3 of our to go orders. I have no problem leaving a good tip... when the service is good. She deserved 10%....if that. I would have rated this place much better if the service did not suck. Hopefully next time we will get a different waitress. read more

God I hate doing this... Last couple times, not good. Ordered Togo and they forgot a dish. When called about it acted mad. I had to drive back across town to get it. Last time I ate in I ordered pad prik king with chicken. The veggies were good but the chicken was BAD. Like rancid, warmed over several times BAD. I got ill. I'll still try them once more. So glad to have this restaurant in Athens!! First time visit on a Monday night at 8 p.m.. No one in front of us and several open seats we waited 30 minutes to sit. I ordered Thai Black Pepper Beef and the beef was seriously undercooked when it came to the table. Sent it back to cook longer and then it was perfect. Pretty good cuts of meat but the portion of the dish was pretty small overall. The thai tea was pretty ok and the fresh rice paper wrapped garden roll I had as an appetizer was huge and delicious. My husband had the tofu pad thai and said it was wonderful; huge portion; looked delish!I believe that this restaurant will find it's footing. When it does it will be a WONDERFUL restaurant. This place has gave us the worst service; when we asking for 2 pair of chopsticks, the short hair Asian waitress gave me and my wife 2 pair of used chopsticks (with oils and noodles on them) from her tray. After 80 minutes, and after we saw several people seated ahead of us, that had come in after us, we started asking guests what time they checked in. Only complaints are parking is a bitch (like four spots) plus street parking, and if they tell you it's going to be a 15-20 min wait for your to-go order, expect a 25-30 min wait. I stopped by Thai Paradise for dinner and it was one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to. The building was nicely renovated and the staff were all very attentive and accommodating. The prices are comparable to any other sit down restaurant and the food was outstanding. Everything from the rice to the vegetables tasted very fresh. Really enjoy this restaurant! Food is consistently good. Our favorite is the drunken noodle, which is the only spicy noodle dish. Lots of veggies and sweet/spicy flavor. Tonight we had the Panag curry for the first time. The flavor was good, but the curry was kind of thin. We have tried many other dishes and always been pleased for the most part. Thai Paradise is a great restaurant. The service and decor were both wonderful. I ate lunch there this past Sunday and I was not disappointed. We had the mini egg rolls as an appetizer and they were great. I really liked the sweet and sour sauce because it was not too syrupy, as many are. A friend and I split two of the entrees: the green curry with tofu and the Ginger Perfect. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The Thai Tea is also very delicious and refreshing! I've been here three times and tried the red, green and yellow curries. The red is by far my favorite (great if you like spicy food), I get mine with 5 level spiciness. The red curry comes with green & red bell peppers, bamboo shoots, and a little spinach (or are they bay leaves?). Anyhow, super delicious. The yellow tastes a bit heartier with carrots and potatoes, and the green is very...green. String beans and the like. The lunch portions are absolutely perfect, and you can also choose between soup and salad. For dinner, there's no additional soup or salad, but the portions are huge...definitely enough for leftovers. My curry also reheated very well when I ate the leftovers the next day. I like the salad, it comes with a nice, tangy dressing. Spring roll is huge and also very delicious! I'm very satisfied with the food here. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the service is a little off. The first time I came, I was sitting for 10 minutes before I had to call the waiter to ask if someone would come take our order. They were very nice, and the food was served quickly, but perhaps because they're new, their staff isn't quite organized yet. In the middle of our meal, a waiter (not ours) came by and put a bill on our table with a credit card sticking out (obviously another customers). When I paid, they didn't bring my card back for about 20 minutes...didn't really mind because I was in conversation, but I'd normally like to have my card back immediately. I've become a frequent diner at this restaurant and recommend it for its consistently good food, service, and prices. The alcoholic beverage offerings are pretty good, too, especially the sake. The drunken noodles, spicy eggplant, and island chicken are all incredibly tasty choices on the Thai menu. I cannot speak for the Chinese menu. Also, I would not recommend their paad thai. I'm honestly not sure why everyone doesn't give Thai Paradise a 5 star rating. I may be biased, because Thai food is my absolute favorite cuisine, but this is my favorite restaurant in all of Athens. Every time I have visited, I have absolutely adored what I've been served. The interior is well decorated, the wait staff have all been friendly, and there's even some outdoor seating for the warmer days. Make sure to try the Thai iced tea- I don't even typically like tea, but it's delicious- it has a warm spice flavor and is quite sweet. The best dish (in my humble opinion) is the Island Chicken- I've never had anything like it elsewhere. One of my favorite parts of Thai cuisine is the use of coconut, and you can definitely taste it as it balances with the savory chicken and vegetables perfectly. If you don't like Thai, they have plenty of classic Chinese options as well, although I've never tried any of those. read more

I remember this place when it was "Hopsing's" in the 1970's. A no frills Chinese restaurant. They moved the front door off the street, created a patio and put a small bar inside. All nicely done. My wife and I tried the Chinese portion of the menu. Both meals were good. I'd go back. It seems to be popular with the locals. Not so much college students, but more professionals. Just an update. I've been back a few more times since my initial visit. The food is good. My only concern is that sometimes some of the dishes come out of the kitchen lukewarm. I'm not sure if it's a kitchen problem or a server problem, but it is a problem. Nevertheless, a very good Athens restaurant. read more
