Staff is amazing always friendly! I have been eating here for a while , I went during lunch with my friends and I have been HOOKED ever since ! This was 4 years ago . My how finace is hooked , we ALWAYS get the chicken pad Thai . When I mean the flavor is ALWAYS THERE the size is amazing . This is ONE place I have never been disappointed! We took our two daughters here for dinner the night before our big NIU college visit based on a review comment I read. The man had said how he longed for the yellow curry chicken. He had moved away and had a chance to come back and that was what he wanted. So I had to order this! I swapped beef for chicken though. Anyway, it was delicious and did not disappoint! My wife had the oyster beef and that was amazing. One daughter had Kai soa beef curry that came with fried noodles on top and the other daughter beef pad Thai noodles. Also I don't want forget to mention the appetizers. We ordered Fried wontons and crab Rangoon and both were delightful. This restaurant was excellent. This was our first time ordering or eating at Thai Pavilion. We ordered take out this first time, the service was good and prepared the food quickly and on time. The order was given to us accurately, which isn't always a given. We thought the food was good, nothing exceptional. There are so many good Thai restaurants by where we live so our standards could be high. I think the quality and taste is very good in Dekalb, but I'm it sure it would hold up closer to Chicago. We ordered Basil chicken, beef pad thai, tofu and vegetable, chicken and broccoli and crab rangoons. All the dishes tasted good and nice size portions. We didn't care for the crab rangoons, there are so many versions, it comes down to personal preference, these were a little too sweet for me, without the sweet n sour sauce. Overall, wedge back and order or eat here again, when we are back in Dekalb. Happy to see more thai restaurants open up there. read more

I went here yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. First I will say that I rarely eat Thai food so I am unable to compare this restaurant to any other Thai restaurant/talk about how authentic it is to actual Thai food. We got the pot stickers, edamame, chicken and rice soup, and then the panang curry. Edamame is what you would expect, however this edamame was lightly salted instead of heavily salted and usually I like a heavily salted edamame so I was a little disappointed with that but the edamame was definitely fresh. The potstickers tasted great, they came with a mix of chicken and veggies inside instead of the usual pork mixture that I'm used too. We got the potstickers pan fried and they had an excellent crisp without being too oily and a good balance between the chicken and veggie flavor as well as a good amount of this meat mixture inside the potstickers and they came with a nice almost soy sauce like dipping sauce. The soup was interesting as I am typically used to American style chicken and rice soup but definitely not bad. This soup comes in a light broth that definitely had flavor and a little kick with unseasoned rice and chicken in it. I think this soup is good if you want something very light to fill you up and the small portion was more then enough. However, if you're like me and like cream style broths better or a little saltier or even if you don't like cilantro (definitely the boldest flavor in there) this soup may not be for you, it's definitely not bad but it wasn't designed for my taste buds. Finally the panang curry was delicious! It was a little thinner then what I expected for a curry but the flavor was all there! This curry had a nice sweet to spicy ratio and the spice was never too overpowering. In the curry itself there was large chucks of all types of vegetables and the protein of your choice, which you could honestly pick out something if you didn't like it and I liked that each vegetable although cooked on the curry still had a nice bite to it and wasn't completely mush. Lastly the service there was impeccable, the food came out fast, the restaurant had a nice relaxing ambiance to it, looked very clean, and I don't think they let my glass get half way before they refilled my cup! Overall this is definitely a place to come and try, the portions are great, the service is great, and overall I was able to have a relaxing time with my family and enjoy a dinner out! First Thai experience. Had the Pad Thai because everyone here raved. I didn't specify how spicy I wanted it because I had no idea. Ended up not being spicy at all but it was very good. I've been a few times now, and every time i leave wondering "when can i come back for more?" I've tried the cashew chicken, spicy shrimp curry fried rice (So effing -pardon my french- good!), and the beef and broccoli. Stopped here after a visit to NIU. We ordered spring rolls, Pad Thai with chicken and green curry with beef. The food showed up quick and OMG it was delicious. The spring rolls were fresh and prepped beautifully. Pad Thai with chicken showed up on a huge plate almost too much for one person to finish. I said almost because it's so flavorful that once you start eating you will lick the plate before you pay the bill. The green curry with beef was also delicious and came with side of white rice. This place has gotten absurd with their prices and their serving sizes. It's not worth eating here anymore. They used to be amazing. The food used to be authentic and the service was wonderful. The people that run this place now aren't even thai, so it is no longer authentic. It's indians running a Thai restaurant. They've changed some of the spices they use so the food doesn't taste like Thai food should. The service is horrible. To top things off, they charge an 18% service charge on all of their bills without notifying you. Unless you specifically ask for an itemized bill, you won't know that you're being charged this because they literally just write the total price of your meal on a piece of paper and hand it to you. So fresh! So good! Hubby had the Pad Thai and we shared the Sweet and Sour Chicken - best I've ever had. Parking is on the street, staff was excellent, I had a coke which they bring you in a can with a glass of ice, food is prepared fresh and extremely fast. We had leftovers and they heat up nicely.
