Everything I've tried has been awesome, and they bring the heat, an essential element of Thai food. That said, they will tone it down if you ask. Consistently good and very clean. We get their food to go due to working up the freeway and every time they have our order correct, not many places do that, there is usually something left out or missing. Well there lunch special is a great price at $8.95, you get your choice of an entree plus either small cup of tom yum soup, spring roll or salad w/peanut dressing. I love their chicken Pad Thai, level 2, and my coworkers get basil chicken, chicken Drunken Noodles, level 4, and Spicy Basil Fried Rice, level 4. Oh and their Tom Kha is excellent as well, btw cannot get as a side instead of Tom Yum on the lunch special. Great place to try if in the area. read more

How can you go wrong with flavorful Thai food that is priced fairly and a restaurant that is BYOB? Though the decor is lacking, the spicy kick that That Riverside packs is not! We came here on a recommendation with some friends, and we will definitely return. The flavor profiles of the food develops after each bite. No matter how "spicy" (1-5? scale) you get, you still taste the amazing flavors. The spice does not overpower the food. We ordered Thai Riverside for carryout one Sunday afternoon. Having read that ownership recently changed, I was interested in the place. I enjoy spicy food so ordered about 3/4 of the way up the heat scale. My wife does not like a lot of spice, so she ordered her food that way. We were not disappointed. My food had a nice spice level without being overly so. Our food overall was very good. I noticed that 10-12 people were dining in and seemed to be enjoying their food. This will not be my fave place for Thai but I would go again if in the area. Staff is nice. My advice is to really know what you mean when you order your food spicy. I think I ordered level 4 and goodness I love spicy food but this gave me a run for my money. Had a small portion of the tom ka soup with beef. I had to take a break while eating it get the feeling back in my mouth. But the taste was fantastic. I had the green shrimp curry which was very nice but I would say I prefer my standard place better. The spring rolls were actually too big. They put so many ingredients in the spring roll that the rice paper burst open on both of them which basically turned them into a salad for me. So overall it is worth a try but like most foods of this type it really is a very personal choice acording to your particular tastes. read more

As with the best Thai places, this one is located in a strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside. Their sign conveniently butts up next to a donut shop, which always makes we wonder if Thai Riverside Donuts is a real store. We just recently moved back to the Dallas area from Seattle, where you'd have trouble throwing a rock and not hitting a Thai restaurant. We've been pleasantly surprised to find Thai Riverside, and have eaten there several times in the past month. You can order online through GrubHub, and the restaurant itself has plenty of seating. We always get the Pad Kee-Mow, and are always happy with the quality of the noodles and vegetables. We've tried both of the curries, and they have some interesting, non-traditional, flavors to them, but are good nonetheless. My only complaint is that the curry goes very heavy on the bamboo shoots, making it seem like there's a lot of stuff in the curry, when in fact it's a little light on meat and other vegetables. One thing I love about Thai Riverside is that they're not afraid of spices. As with most Thai restaurants you order on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, and they label 5-dtar as "Thai Spicy". If you like spicy food you know that 1-5 isn't a linear scale, it's exponential, and ordering 5 is somewhat akin to daring the chef to punch you in the mouth. We stick with 4-stars, or American Spicy as we like to call it, and are always happy to find a nice building heat that has your nose running by the end of the meal. If you're ever in the area Thai Riverside is definitely worth a try. read more

Took a group of 6 here last night. We had the place to ourselves at 630pm. Ordered many items off the menu and everything was awesome. I personally ordered the Tom Kha soup and the massumun(sp). Even at level 2, they were spicy but delicious. I prefer less 'stuff' and more broth in my soup but didn't specify that at ordering, so I ended up removing most of the veggies and meat from the soup. I did tell them that I did not want much meat in my curry and they served it just as ordered. We tried multiple appetizers, dumplings, salad rolls, corn fritters. All typical but good. I tried the drunken noodles that my friend did not like. I loved them! Didn't taste, but rave reviews on the duck curry. Seriously, everything was very good if you are a fan of Thai. Bonus that you can run next door and grab some wine or whatnot. No corking fee and they give you wine glasses. Dinner, appetizers and soft drinks for 6 was 113.00 This was a serious eatfest. My husband always gets the pineaple fried rice. his fave. The food is reasonably priced. They seem to be short staffed but its fine. Their food is worth it. First time here and went for lunch. I thought the food was good and the portions were nice. 2 small egg rolls with my lunch meal - the sauce was very good. Lunch sized portions but plenty as I did not finish it all. I ordered Massaman curry #1 spice and it was good. I did not love the atmosphere as much as other thai restaurants I have been to, hence the lower stars. I would have given this 3.5 stars but I could only do 3 or 4 and I did not want to ding a whole star for atmosphere. I would come here again. Great little Thai place! The food is excellent, servive is great, and prices are very resonable. To top it off the place is BYOB and they are located right next to a wine store! I told the waiter and another gentleman who worked at the restaurant and both did not answer why it was not spicy. After complaining they went in the back but never came back with a response. I picked up dinner from Thai Riverside this past Saturday night and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I was in Southlake housesitting and had a craving for some heat. I thought about Thai Chili but have had bad luck as far as spice on my last couple visits so I figured I'd give Thai Riverside a shot. Since I didn't have a menu or a clue of what to get, I drove down to place my order in person. The menu is pretty basic as far as your options. . .it's an Americanized Thai restaurant after all. After a quick scan of the menu as well as the food everyone in the restaurant was eating, I settled on an order of tofu spring rolls and spicy basil chicken. Based on the following conversation with the waitress, I thought we'd come to a mutual understanding as far as heat: Her: So how spicy? Me: As hot as you can make it. Her: So hot? Me: If that's as hot as you can get it. . . Her (with big smile on her face): How about 'Thai' hot? Me: Bingo! *We high five to confirm our agreement* Twenty minutes later I had my food (yes, I thought that was a while to wait, too). The food smelled amazing and it took most of my will power to resist the urge to start eating any time I hit a stoplight on my way home. When I got back to the house, I was expecting a steam cloud of spice to hit me when I opened the chicken. . .the steam was there, but no spice. Don't get me wrong, the food was really good - fresh veggies cooked just right, super tender chicken, lots of sweet basil - but no heat. . .at all. Thankfully I found a bottle of sriracha in the fridge and was able to spice it up on my own, but talk about a let down. The spring rolls were great and I have to commend them on making one of the better peanut sauces in the area. It isn't a fancy Thai restaurant. It is like a mom and pop owned spot with a consistently pretty good product. I have to give it knuckle love because I can't think of any Thai spots nearby and it holds its own. My premonition is that this type of ethnicity is hard to sell in an area without much ethnic diversity (yet), so they are rocking it by doing their thing and converting people a handful at a time. I was so looking forward to trying this place based on so many good reviews. Unfortunately it was not up to par. Everything was either overcooked or undercooked or very, very dry. We had 2 orders of chicken satay skewers with Thai peanut sauce, edamame, and steamed rice. The satay had no flavor and it was almost like jerky on a stick as it was dry and rubbery. The peanut sauce had too much cinnamon flavor (not sure what spice that was). And the edamame was overcooked and some undercooked. Disappointing for a take-out meal that costs $24. Never again. I went for a late lunch. The Thai owners were very nice and made sure I was taken care of. I had the Pad Kee Mao - warning, it really is spicy if you get spicy! I don't have high expectations for Thai food in Grapevine, but I was surprised with this find. My first suggestion is to order off the menu and not the buffet if you go for lunch on Friday. The buffet tables look like they are from 1987, and the dishes don't look like they remain hot. I never ate the food on the buffet, and don't intend to. I have eaten at this place twice for lunch and the ordered food didn't dissapoint. The veggie spring rolls came out hot with a tasty dipping sauce. My group usually all gets the Pad Kee Mow and Gra Pow, and both are delish. There "Hot" spice level isn't that hot, and we usually end up putting more chili paste on the dish. The service, just like any good dive or hole in the wall, is extremely slow. They usually only have one waitress for the entire room (which has about 10 tables). The most recent time it took forever to get our drinks, and the waitress forgot to bring out the soup that was included in the lunch special. This wouldn't be an issue with getting it to go, but if you are starving (like we usually are come lunch time), be prepared to wait. Bottom line, is the food is good, hot and hits the spot when wanting a taste of Thai. read more
