    Thai fried rice

A hidden gem in the strip mall at the corner of Redbud Lane and Gattis School Road. My wife and I had lunch there today. I always order the Penang curry which is my favorite. My wife had the Thai fried rice. We're never disappointed at Thai Spoon. And there's a new ice cream shop right next-door!

One of my favorite Thai spots in town for many years now. Been coming here for nearly a decade now and it is always consistent. My top dish is easily the drunken noodles. Noodles and beef are cooked to perfection. They give you plenty so always a highlight to have enough for a second lunch another day. I wanted to try the wings out. Mind you this was a to-go order, so weren't fresh out of the kitchen, but they were slightly disappointing. Not much flavor and on the skimpier side. We also ordered the kid's sweet and sour fried chicken. We assumed the sauce would be on the chicken but it's just on the side for you to dip. side note: not mango season so no mango sticky rice.

I'm always on the lookout for excellent Thai restaurants and I'm adding Thai Spoon to the list. Although located in a somewhat nondescript shopping center, the food is anything but bland. This family-run restaurant churns out some amazing entrees and it seems to be very busy most of the time. One of my old essential standbys that I find sets the tone for any Thai restaurant is green curry. Thai Spoon's version is excellent, filled with bamboo and proteins that are cooked to perfection. The sauce was pleasingly creamy and held together well. Some curries end up with a broken sauce but Thai Spoon was made exactly right with a good snort of pepper spices as well. The Pad Woon Sen hit the right notes too with a good balance between the brightness of lime juice and savory soy and fish elements. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and will be back. Highly recommended.

A tradition stripe mall restaurant- open concept - kinda dark. The staff was ready to serve and friendly - quick order turn around - almost like it was all prepared ahead. Nothing exciting to say other than it was traditional food and good service.

So the service was great. Both the young man and young lady working were very friendly and helpful. My soup was very mediocre. It tasted like they added water to the broth to stretch it. I can't say that I will be back. I hate wasting money on bland food.

Thai Spoon has been one of my favorite Pad Thai spots for a few years now. I have actually not tried anything other than their Pad Thai and mango with sticky rice. The mango with sticky rice is delicious every single time and up until the last few visits their Pad Thai has been off the chain. Unfortunately, the spice level has not been delivering the proper heat. I always order the Thai hot spice level and I even top it off with a little Sriracha. When I received my first wimpy spiced noodles, I thought maybe it was just an ordering mistake but it's happened about three times now. I'm not sure what's changed, but because of this it just is not my favorite spot anymore.

Was busy for a Tuesday which was great, drunken noodles had good spice and favorable portions and same with the green curry. Took plenty home so it's shareable. Modern place and not dated at all which is better than most Thai spots. Service was slow as my water was never topped off. It's is family owned and worth it for to go at least:

Ramen Tatsu-ya Round Rock is the real deal! Just wrapped up…read moreanother great visit to the Round Rock location (960 North Mays) and had to bump this up in my book. Even with a heat index of 108°, I still walked in for their hot, succulent bone broth ramen...that's how good it is. The "LIVE NOODS" neon sign above the open kitchen is a perfect touch, you can watch the team pulling fresh noodles and building bowls right in front of you. It gives the place that energetic, authentic feel while keeping everything clean and modern. Wooden counters, red accent lighting, QR code ordering, and those sturdy stools make it comfortable for a quick solo meal or hanging with friends/family. Shout-out to Ana -- she was the absolute guide to deliciousness! She took my order with a smile and gave spot-on recommendations that led me straight to the good stuff. Service like that makes all the difference. I went with the Texasy Tonk (deep 60hr+ tonkotsu broth loaded with smoked brisket, smoked jalapeños, takana mustard greens, ajitama egg, and thunder oil) rich, savory, perfectly balanced heat, great chew on the noodles, and melt-in-your-mouth brisket. For the side I grabbed the Hot Pocketz from the Summer Combo (crispy birria-style brisket pockets with Oaxaca/Monterey Jack blend and birria dip). They were straight fire...crunchy exterior, gooey cheesy interior, spicy kick, and that dipping sauce took them over the top. Pro tip: Pour the remaining au jus from the Hot Pocketz into your Texasy Tonk broth at the end, it takes the flavor to another level! Cold beer + sake chaser rounded it out perfectly. Pro tip for first-timers: If you're new here, stick to the OG classics on the menu (like the straight Tonkotsu or Miso) -- they're rock solid. Once you're hooked, branch out to the fun Texas twists. Fast counter service, generous portions, and solid value (especially with the Summer Combo). Whether you're coming from Austin or just passing through Round Rock, this spot is worth the stop.

There were water, bowls, utensils, and sauces in the lobby for anyone to grab, which was nice. We ordered their cucumber salad, beef noodle soup, and lamb noodle soup. Cucumber salad was 2/5. It wasn't the authentic smashed cucumber salad, the flavor was missing something, and I mean, for $7 or $8, you would think it would be amazing....it's not. Pretty disappointing, I'd much rather have my sister's over these. Beef noodle soup was meh. Nothing special. Broth was very simple, like they just added salt and that's it. Meat was cooked very well. My soup came with 1 piece of lettuce, weird.. Lamb noodle soup was the same as the beef noodle soup; it did come with the black fungus, seaweed, tofu, and some vermicelli clear noodles, along with their handmade noodles. Made sense why it was only $13.95 for the noodle soups. It's reasonably priced probably due to not being authentic, though, I wouldn't pay more than $10. They had handmade noodles, which many people do like. However, their noodles were very bland, along with their soup. I didn't find anything special here either. Maybe I'll get their dumplings or fried noodles the next time we come, but it's a no for me.
