I am totally in love with this place. The veggies always are fresh. My fav dish right now is the pineapple curry. OH LORD!! Such an incredible flavor--I can sip on the curry just like soup. The shrimp (usually about 10 large ones) are alway yummy. The chicken skewers are yummy. I love the cucumber salad. Their Pad thai was super yummy as well. To be honest, I haven't found a single thing to complain about here. The wait staff has always been kind (even when slammed). Thai coffee has been wonderful. I will simply continue coming here. Just had the worst experience here. I ordered take out tonight which included panang curry and duck. I get to the restaurant and pay for my order which comes to around 45 bucks. When I get back to my hotel 15 mins later we find they forgot to include the duck in my order. I called the Thai spoon to tell them they forgot my duck. The manager offered to drop off my duck which will take him 40 mins. I told him I don't want to wait and that I'll come get it myself. He offered me a refund and I said just refund me the duck. When I get back he says I have to pay for the duck again if I want it. I proceed to argue with him about his shitty service and he says I still need to pay for his mistake. I explained to him I had to drive back and that he shouldn't have offered me a refund in the first place If he wasn't going to honor it. As I was talking to him, another woman comes in and says they forgot something in her order. By that point he wasn't going to compensate me for the inconvenience he caused so I walked out without the duck. Apparently everybody else's time is free but his isn't. Idiots. My wife randomly had a thai craving. This place had a good rating and was nearby. We'd never heard of it before for being so close but it was surprisingly good. We've only been here twice but both times have been decent. Went here for dinner and didn't enjoy food or service at all: Asked for big soup to share with family, arrived with no other bowls, no spoons to eat with?? Asked for spice level hot fried rice, came with rice that was super bland...Thai ice tea, asked for less ice, arrived with extra ice, infact the ice was so much that while stirring the tea it spilled over the table. With dinner, no plates provided, they expected the family to eat out of the entree dishes! We requested hot sauce, we were given an empty jar of hot sauce! Owners are arrogant and rude, as there is no competition in this area. Ordered items, paid for it, and didnt check my pickup items, found items missing when i opened it later. I have been eating here for at least 4 years now, practically since they opened and I've tried almost everything on the menu and they have all been great. My favorite is the Panang curry, which is kind of an orange curry, the red and yellow mixed I guess. I love Thai food and have eaten at several Thai joints and not too many compare to Thai Spoon. I love the atmosphere, it's simple and not too fancy. They do get busy for lunch and on Friday and Sat nights, but other than that, we rarely have to wait. I love thai food and have tried many places around Austin. This place is my favorite. The flavors seem more authentic and the atmosphere is incredible. It's way out of my way but I will happily make the trek since I haven't found any other thai restaurants within Austin proper that can compare. Everything I've tried here is delicious. What a yummy place to eat! We have been going here since they opened, and the staff and owners are wonderful. I've had the salads, soups, most of the egg rolls, at leasat 6 of the entrees, glass noodles, fried rice...in other words, I've tried it all. Each dish has been great. I have been here a few times, and after today I am finally writing a review. Today was the first time for me to order take-out. Service was fast and friendly and accommodating just before closing time. The prices are good. Unfortunately, the food just did not look very appetizing when I opened the container a few minutes after I received it. I had ordered Pad Thai with chicken which came with a side salad, and I ordered the crispy spring rolls. The Pad Thai stained the bottom of the take-out box a dark orange. I don't know if it was that greasy or what, but the whole dish was orange and one-note in flavor. There was the chicken that was a little dry. There were bean sprouts on one side to mix in, but all the other Pad Thai elements I have enjoyed in other restaurants were missing. There were no crushed peanuts, no fresh lime wedge to add a little zing. Nothing really light and fresh about it. It was boring, and while the flavor was fine and the portion was filling, I was not impressed. The salad with peanut dressing was very bland and boring. The spring rolls were pretty good but, all in all, my experience will not motivate me to return as soon as I had hoped. read more

We ordered chill Fish Got red curry fish. Ordered fire pot of tom yum got single portion charged 8.50. Ordered Hot curry Got Mild. Right at 9.00PM they stop answering the phone. I rushed right back. No sorry, No water offered while rectifing the order. They did not redo the fish They refryed it & gave the chille sauce in a seperate container. The fish was super crispy. Let me start by saying we love Thai food. After years of getting good Thai in San Jose and before that in Florida, our expectations were not high of getting good Thai in Round Rock. Thai Spoon however came up big and not only served authentic flavorful food but let us match the panang curry with duck in a dish, not on their menu. The server was pleasant and attentive. Thai iced tea was good. Only lost a star because the summer rolls were too thickly rolled and gummy/chewy. We will be back soon! read more

I just ate at Thai Spoon last night, and while I had loved it the first time I went, I cannot say the same this time around. I first went to Thai Spoon years ago, and since then have figured out I have an intolerance to gluten (it almost instantly makes me feel sick). I called ahead to see if they had gluten free options because I had a serious craving for pad Thai. They let me know they had GF pad thai, so I stopped by with a friend. We had a new server and I asked what starters were GF...he seemed a bit unsure as he was new, but he gave me two options and said the salads were GF too. I let him know if the dressing was GF, I would have a side salad in addition to my pad Thai with tofu. The small cucumber salad was delish, the pad Thai not so much. I don't know what kind of sauce was on it...it tasted a bit like bland noodles with a slight fishy taste. The noodles and sauce were white too, so didn't look like usual pad Thai (brownish sauce), so I think their GF version is very much not your usual pad Thai sauce. I put sriracha on it to give it some flavor. Well, as soon as I was done eating, I started not feeling well...so I suspect something I ate was not GF. I don't know if it was the tofu, the noodles or sauce, or maybe cross contamination (though I don't usually feel this bad if it's mild cross contamination). I don't know. But if you are very sensitive to gluten, I wouldn't eat here. My review is strictly based on this experience of being gluten intolerant...their GF food i don't think was entirely GF and didn't have much flavor. If you can eat gluten, GO EAT HERE!!! i've always had the best service when i go here. they are super nice to my 3 year old son and really attentive even when just standing at the counter to order take out. the green curry and the crispy spring rolls are by far my favorite dishes there but everything i've ordered has been delicious. i really like the fact that the heat of every dish can be changed to your preference. while i was pregnant i could order my green curry mild and not risk the heart burn i would get if i ordered it hot. they are byob and there is an heb and a liquor store in the same shopping strip so you can stop and get your favorite beer or wine and bring it in with you. read more

Delicious!!! We visit this place every so often and we always say "We really need to come here more often.". Their curries are tasty and I absolutely loooooove their basil fried rice. The onions are perfectly cooked and enhance the flavor of the dish. The fried calamari is tender and my husband loves the breading. Tom Kha soup is tangy and creamy. I e never experienced a super long wait or anything and I've been there for lunch and dinner. They're also great for takeout. read more
