Surprisingly it's a neighborhood hangout for the past 15 years! It's like a pub (VERY CLEAN!) but instead of burgers and fries (i like burgers & fries) , it's thai. Either I've been ordering back-to-back "misses", or the food here is just mediocre to bad. My most recent order, the Mandarin Duck - scores a 0/5, and would earn negatives if possible. For 23 dollars (with rice), this was either a huge waste of meat, or they didn't include much meat at all - the cooking process makes it difficult to decide which. The duck was deep fried to the point where the majority of it was hard, almost burnt, and frankly unpalatable. Half the pieces were essentially bones that they put through the fryer. I ate half of it before I decided to cut my losses to avoid contracting cancer in a dish. Maybe they use all the actual meat in their curry dishes? I've ordered here from the past, and all the dishes have been either "meh" (pad thai, red duck curry being the most notable) to just bleh. I wanted to like this place since they're close by and delivery is free, but the duck I just had was reprehensible - especially for a pricier dish listed under the chef's special menu. read more

Last night me and a couple of friends went here after trying to find something in the area after church. First we were going to Marina but it was getting late. The Marina was so foggy we couldn't see the ocean, so we opted to dine close to home. Hungry we said let's stop here and have some Thai Food. So disappointing! My Red Thai Curry was awful. Tasted like canned soup. My glass of Sprite had the taste of dish soap in it. I guess they just washed the glass. I didn't finish any of it. So disappointing. I thought this place exceeded my expectations. It is way nicer than the Siam place on Manchester. This place has very nice looking decor inside. The waitress was particularly friendly and accomodating. I came during lunch time so they had some good lunch specials. I was surprised that they had Hainam Chicken but hey, I guess this restaurant does not serve only Thai food which is a good thing. My dish was delicious. Thai Talay is close to work but yet only a few people had tried it (they frequented another Thai place). I slowly brought them over. Alright, here it is..... Ambiance: It is definitely cool over here. It's fancier not tackier than other Thai spots. It's funny how they slightly dim the lights in the evening (especially if you're with a mixed company of work folks). They have a full bar as well. Food: It is good and clean (not too oily etc). I like the Thai Fried Rice with chicken and the Chicken Pad See You. The Topaz Yellow Curry is a regular dish we get. You just need to order rice (white or brown for a nominal fee) because it doesn't come with it. I also like the Crispy Vegetable Spring Rolls. Once I ordered the wonton soup--man, the temperature was hot (not a bad thing, just know it will take a few minutes before eating it). Service: We are big on customer service. The women have been nothing but nice and helpful. One remembered us and even gave us a hug after being MIA for a bit (followed by "welcome back"). They often refill drink glasses and ask if everything is alright. Price: Lunch and dinner are good values. You get a decent amount of food for the price. Unique: So the servers all wear short black dresses as their uniform. A little different, odd, unique...whatever you want to call it. We come for the food, so it made us smile the first time but after that, it's just part of the Thai Talay style snd experience. Heads up: The parking lot is small and often full. Came in today to try a couple of new things Had a starter plate and pad thai seafood. I sadly didn't enjoy any of my food and I couldn't even eat the pad thai. The starter was a bit cold except the spring rolls and the pad thai was a way too sweet or tangy for me. Kind of like there was too much ketchup? I'm not sure how they make it. In the end I just ate the seafood and didn't eat the saucy noodles. Also my service today was a little lackluster where I needed to ask for my bill 3 times before it was brought to me. Far from Thai food... ordered the Bangkok BBQ chicken and it was super dry with a sour (vinegar) unpleasant sauce. Also ordered the mixed veg, tasted like a mixed veg from a Chinese place. The BBQ pork was also dry but the sauce it came with was the best part of the meal. The chicken and veg was horrendous and not fit for consumption... Worst of all was the papaya salad. There were about 2 green beans in it and the were American green beans... no Asian green beans at all, no chili at all and it had soggy cashews in place of peanuts... I'd be surprised if a Thai person works at this place. -I've spent a few years in Thailand and so has my girlfriend. We agree that there's nothing Thai about this food. read more

Ohhhh I am more than just a fan! While the aesthetics are amazing I am glad my friend begged me to go with her to what was then, her favorite Thai place and now mine too! Let me start with, this establishment is not just in WESTCHESTER but the aesthetically pretty part. I mean it's definitely a place I would rave to my friends about trying out with their honies. Let me also begin with this place is extremely accommodating. I'm a bit more adventurist with my food and my lady friend is a no shell-fish, fish, the like kind of eater, I mean she has to be extremely careful and Thai Talay is always accommodating. Though, don't be one of those people who give too many substitutions- after all, you might as well cook it yourself? Further......I have had the luxury of experiencing both their lunch menu and dinner menu. Lunch Menu is for the (spoiler alert) folks who want quality food at an affordable price. Ranging in a menu of goodies valued between 9-12$ their proportions always gets me, a solid fit for one eater. (If kids, enough food to share an order) Dinner menu is a tad pricier but accommodates one entire entre` valued between 10-15$++ depending on what you get, it also does not come with rice or salad as you would with a lunch special. I spontaneously came in without yelping it and checking out the pictures first (gasp!) which is a big risk if you know me, but I'm glad I was able to come and enjoy it. First of all, it had a really cool, modern ambiance which gave it a really chill vibe. The waitresses were all wearing something really short or tight. Just thought I'd mention that. Anyway, got the seafood soup, red curry, and pad thai to share and they were all pretty good and extremely flavorful. Usually I find that these types of food are watered down and decreases the spice levels, but these dishes had the perfect heat! My favorite was the red curry. Small quaint Thai place with a hip vibe. The servers are nice and are constantly checking the tables make sure nothing else is needed. My coworker has a soft spot for this place so this is always on the list of comfort foods. They have a variety options for the lunch specials. The garlic shrimp is delicious. It has a spicy garlic sauce that I pour all over my rice. But, you will have garlic breath afterwards! I've also had the fried shrimp bento box. The fried shrimp is served on a bed of fried carrots. The shrimp by itself is a little bland but they do give you dipping sauce for it. The box also comes w/ salad and miso soup. I really liked the miso soup. The broth tasted fresh, and there were whole fresh pieces of tofu, not the dinky ones that are usually put in the soup. I always get the spicy eggplant with beef which us not on the lunch specials. The eggplants are little battered and pan fried. The beef is stir fried in a bean paste sauce which makes it spicy with a hint of sweetness to it. A great balance with the eggplant. I always get it with brown rice. The white rice spans up the sauce better but brown rice is a healthier alternative. Nice decor with fast service and food. Great for lunch. Parking is bad though because there are only a few spots in the back. However, you can park on the street in front or in the neighborhood and walk. read more

I live near by and come here often. They have the best Thai Tea, and their mood/atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy with nice decor. Their service is good, usually the waitresses are very attentive and sweet, they do dress a little over the top for a restaurant, but I guess it fits with the atmosphere. Not much parking, but I I've always found a spot in the back. I usually order the yellow beef curry with beef or tofu. It also comes with potatoes, onions, and carrots. Their curry is on point most of the time and the taste of coconuts with a little spice to it is great to pair with rice. I also get the Tofu Plus that comes with Tamarind sauce. Sometimes the tofu is over cooked or they become soggy really fast, but for the most part I like how it tastes with their tamarind sauce. I've tried the Pad Thai, Chicken Satay, Tom Yum Soup, Pad See You, Green Curry, Cashew Chicken. Their all decently good, but the place is a bit expensive. The portions are also a little on the small side. The Chicken Satay was a little dry. They also charge an extra 1.50 for rice, and one time when I first came awhile back they asked if I wanted refills for Thai Tea, of course I said yes, but they never mentioned that you have to pay for another one. We had dinner for the first time we had drunken noodles this almost tasteless, not spicy, dried needed a lot more sauce to it. We had Pad Thai , it was cooked with too much sugar so it was very sweet. We had appetizers, 2 fried shrimp, 2 chicken sate(no taste), 2 egg rolls almost no taste and 4 small dumplings very tasty. Excellent thai food! Everything was made with super fresh ingredients and they came through when we asked for extra spicy. The Red Devil noodles were incredible and the panang curry with shrimp is a must have. Usually most thai places are stingy with shrimp, but not this place! There was a ton of shrimp in this dish. The summer rolls were also very clean and the spice was just right. The atmosphere is modernly chic and lovely. The service was perfect and everyone was very sweet and helpful. They have a lovely little bar that looked cozy if you just wanted to pop in for a beer and a few quick dishes. I have several great thai places within walking distance of me, but will happily venture to Westchester to come here again. read more

Finding food at 9pm in Westchester is challenging on a Friday night. Thai Talay was the first restaurant we yelped that stayed open til 10pm, so they got our business. Thai food to me should be served in a hole-in-the-wall atmosphere on plates with scuff marks. This was quite the opposite with candles, a bar, big with plates for presentation, and ambiance. So this would make a good place for an inexpensive date. I got the red devil noodles and my husband got the pad see ew noodles. The portions are definitely on the small side for the $10 noodle plates. I was just barely satiated and my husband was hungry when we left. He had to go home and eat more food. The ambiance is very calm, cool, and collected even for lunch time. There was no one there when I went for lunch during the week. I played it safe with some Pad Thai...it was alright, nothing special. The portions were kind of small and I have had larger portions for the same price ($10) and better quality.
