I happened upon this lovely place from the recommendation of my daughter who is nearby at LMU. Staff were very pleasant. The food was fresh and authentic. Ambiance was quite nice. The Pad See You noodles were delicious! I also really enjoyed the Topaz (yellow) curry with chicken. And the Lychee martini really hit the spot. Excellent! I have been here twice and had different menu items both times. Everything here was really fresh and of a good quality. From the outside you wouldn't even know it's there. It's very beautiful and well decorated inside. As for the food I've had the Pad Thai with Chicken and Shrimp, Spicy Basil Beef, Treasure @ TT, the brown rice, and Thai Iced Tea. The Pad Thai only came with 2 pieces of shrimp but a good amount of chicken. Luckily there was only two of us so we weren't fighting over the shrimp. The service here is fantastic! We didn't have to ask for refills on either visit. They checked up on us regularly. And I say they as in all the staff, not just our waitress. They were quick to clear our plates and everything. It's nice to have someone ask, which dish did you like more? And not just, how is everything. We ordered the a la carte items but will eventually venture out and order the lunch specials. They portions for lunch look like good sizes. And save room for dessert. We had the Tiramisu. I had to get back to work or else we wouldn't have wolfed it down. This place is good for a great meal in the Marina! I ordered the Tom Kha for starters which was absolutely great! Tom Kha is my favorite soup and it's hard to find the good stuff so I recommend this place for that! My friend ordered Topaz curry, and the curry sauce was pretty smashing!! It had the perfect amount of sweetness & spice... I ordered the orange chicken which was OK! The chicken was more like chicken meatballs versus tender pieces of breast meat which is what I was expecting, but the sauce was good! Pad Thai has good flavor to it and fills you up! My go-to Thai food joint as a college student. I have ordered from Thai Talay any time I need asian food that is so underrepresented in the Playa Vista area. The waitresses are always very nice and even asked how I was doing when I picked up. The bar is a great place out of quarantine for good conversation and drinks. The rice is the best rice in the area. Why is Thai food so damn good?! I enjoyed this place a lot! Good food with good company. Very nice staff... And patient! We were very undecided about what we wanted to order and they let us take out time without seeming annoyed. The Tom Kha soup was the best Tom Kha I've ever had so far! I got mine with chicken. And they were quite generous with the amount of chicken they included. The coconut broth was seasoned perfectly with a hint of spiciness. Amazing! Filet Mignon Skewers. Yum! Tender and juicy! It was served in a shot glass filled with this coconut based sauce that I loved! A great appetizer! The Panang Curry... Another great dish. Again, I chose chicken as my meat. The flavor was great! I ordered takeout from here last night. The lady on the phone was really nice. They made the food super quick, which was awesome because I was starving. She told me 15 minutes, and it was ready in 15 minutes. As soon as I walked in of the employees greeted me, and I was out with my food in less than 5 minutes. I ordered chicken pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, and calamari. The chicken pad Thai and the pineapple fried rice were so yummy! They had the perfect amount of flavor. Neither were spicy, which was perfect for my girlfriend who hates spicy food. The calamari was pretty gross in my opinion. It was really chewy, and I didn't like the batter. I'd go back for the pad Thai and the pineapple fried rice. The portions were also a decent size, which was different from when I ordered here before. Parking was super easy. Thai Talay exceeded my expectations. I'm generally not a huge fan of Thai cuisine, just based on the handful of times I've had it, but this place? SO GOOD! I highly recommend the Surf & Turf fried rice; yes, the "negative" reviews are correct in the fact that the rice is orange, not white, but don't be alarmed! I am gathering it is just natural coloring, as it has the normal texture and flavor of white rice. Everything about the dish was so delicious. I also ordered the Wonton Soup, which was probably one of the better wonton soups I've had. My fiancé ordered the Tom Kha soup and Mango Sticky rice; i tried both and they received the same score from me: the bomb dot com. Had the tuna tartar as an appy. Great lemongrass spin on the traditional dish. I recommend the sea bass with the ginger sauce. Good presentation and very tender. The staff is friendly and are willing to give you a solid recommendation. the coconut ice cream is a good finish to the meal. Honestly, I am really surprised reading all these negative reviews, as I have been here countless times whilst attending college in this area and have little to none complaints. The service has always been fast for us and there are many people working there to check in and make sure everything is okay with our table. They come by frequently to fill up our drinks and are always in a great mood. We've never had an issue with flirting nor are we bothered by it because it is their decision. For orders, we usually get the papaya salad, chicken larb, pineapple fried rice, veggie crispy rolls, emerald curry, Panang curry, and a dish with chicken and eggplant that I can't seem to remember the name at this moment. Obviously, this is not all at one time, but these are the ones that we try/recommend to our friends and family as we like them the most. In terms of parking, you have three options: street (the drivers on Lincoln are crazy so be wary), parking lot on the side at the end of the block (sometimes you have to pay the valet), or the back lot. This was a pretty good Thai place to get pick-up from. I came here for pick-up and they said come in 20 minutes and the food was literally ready in 20 minutes. I went around closing time so it wasn't that busy but when I walked I to pick up my food all of the employees were very nice and gave me a warm welcome. Anyways, I had the sesame shrimp for an appetizer and the Pad Thai with chicken & Shrimp for my entree. Both items did indeed take good. The sesame shrimp came with many pieces and the sauce was excellent. The Pad Thai was a very hefty portion;they definitely give you a lot of food and if you want you could probably convert it into two meals. The food was so good that I finished it all in one serving. I gave 2 stars because I know I've ordered from here before and had good food. If this had been my 1st time here, it would have been a 1-star and I would never return. Maybe their food is only good at dinner time because it needs all day to cook? I'm not really sure. The pad Thai was way too sweet and tangy. The orange chicken was terrible- there were about 6 or 7 meatball sized little balls of mostly breading with some sort of ground up chicken bits inside and again, way too sweet. In all fairness, orange chicken is probably more Chinese food so I guess that's what I get for ordering from a Thai place? We also got the emerald and topaz curries. Both looked kinda lumpy and watery. They tasted ok, more the emerald. The topaz/yellow had near raw potatoes so, kinda yuck. To top off the bummers was the sticky rice I ordered. Based on the picture posted on yelp menu, I thought I was getting dessert- sweet sticky rice and mangos. Because that's what the picture next to sticky rice shows. They lost 3 stars because: 1--Who serves Panang Curry without vegetables as a standard? I've had this dish from restaurants all over the world and it comes WITH vegetables in the curry sauce and then you pick your protein. Not here. So my Tofu Panang curry was just curry sauce and Tofu. And the Chicken Panang Curry we ordered requesting only broccoli & carrots was charged extra for ordering broccoli and carrots because apparently that is a special add on. What? Ridiculous! That's like ordering a burger and it shows up without a bun and they say, oh our burgers don't come with buns here so that is an extra charge. 2--For 3 dishes we were given 2 napkins, 2 sporks (not forks...sporks), and 2 sets of chopsticks. For 3 meals including runny curry (um, we need spoons) and an appetizer. 3-- Customer service was seriously lacking. I called to explain the situation and they just said 'well, that's how we serve it here and oh yeah, we're gonna charge you more for the broccoli & carrots'. Nope! I've been a loyal Thai Talay take-out customer for a few months now, but finally had the chance to eat in the dining room last night and WOW! My first time eating indoors since pre-Covid and I couldn't have been happier with my experience. We arrived an hour before closing, and yet, the food was hot and delicious and the service was incredible! Pooky was efficient, friendly and made our dining experience an 11/10. I had the sampler which is perfect to split with one other person as well as a classic Pad Thai. Like I said, hot and fresh as well as flavorful!!! Disappointment, we used to love this place but I think this is it. We went there for take out mid April and while everybody was so nice as usual the food was horrible. Keeping in mind we have been there several times (always for take out) in the past 1.5 year. Fried calamari: over fried that it looked like a hard plastic inedible, dry, couldn't even chew it was so hard. I can't believe a cook even served that because it looked so dry (exactly how overcooked calamari looks) and the veggies they came with it were also overcooked. This is what upsets us because it was visibly inedible and they just didn't care. Orange chicken: same as the calamari over cooked so dry. 2 curry dishes (green and yellow): chicken was so dry and tough, like a fiber when you chew it. We ate the rice with the curry sauce and veggies pushing the meat away, it worked for that night and we will never be back. Absolutely delicious. We had the sampler, green curry and pad thai along with the Lychee martini and everything was great at a good price point. The only knock is because when we asked for "to go" boxes, they offered to box them for us, but when we received them, less than a third of the leftover food had made it to the box! I visited this restaurant last week by stumbling upon it randomly because the wait was too long at a pizza spot down the street. My friends from Sydney Australia were visiting and it was their last evening in Los Angeles, and they happen to be Thai. Thai Talay gets the authentic Thai pass from them! The service is friendly and quick, and the food is really spicy and tasty. The ambiance inside is dim lit and quite nice. There was a homeless lady trying to sell us flowers which was a little unsettling, I'm not sure why they allowed that. Other than that, this place is pretty rad! If I can give this place a negative star I would. We returned from a trip and craved some Thai food so since it near LAX we stopped in again for the second time. The first time, the female waitresses were flirting with these 2 rude old men. It was discussing how they were being treated but they seem to not mind. The second time was tonight. It was worst! There was no one in the restaurant's seating area only 4 older men sitting at the bar. There were two female waitresses behind the bar flirting with the men. One of the men mentioned that he had a boat and the waitresses were saying "we want to go on the boat!" The gentleman said well let's see if you guys deserve to. One waitress said "I'll massage you."
