We visited this nice neighborhood Thai place in Oak Hill on a quiet weekday evening. We ordered a panang curry with vegetables and a large bowl of tom kha soup with vegetables. The tom kha was great, it had a good tangy flavor and it carried the meal for me. The curry was a bit less of a hit from my perspective. I wished it was more creamy with more coconut milk; it was a tad thin. The seating was wooden benches which were not quite comfortable. The cushions which were a decent attempt at padding the benches kept sliding. Service was friendly but slow; we had to ask a couple of times to get warm water. Due to proximity we'll probably visit again.

Food was 10/10! Would definitely come back. Tried the yellow curry and pad kee mao and they both had so much flavor. Prices are affordable too. Service was good and we would definitely come back.

Monday it was exceptionally cold in Austin. We are in town for a job & cold weather makes me want Thai food. We were greeted as we walked in which started us off on a good note. We ordered Hot Jasmine tea which was perfect. We ordered Crab Rangoon which I must say is the best I've had in forever. There was an ample size filling & the crusts was cooked perfectly. I usually don't like the dip because it's too sweet but this was very fresh & spicy ...Yummy! My husband had the Pad Kee Mao & really enjoyed it. I had Basil Fried Rice with chicken ( could have used a little more chicken) it was good too. The plates had a nice visual presentation as well. All in all a good experience & we will be back.

We picked up takeout from here the other day (easy process) because we were hoping to find good Thai food near our house. While i still think we have some searching to do, Thai Taste offers a decent alternative. The pad thai was a bit too dry for my taste, and the pineapple fried rice didn't have the punch of flavor I'm used to. However, again, not a ton of options for Thai food in this part of town, so still a solid choice!

I was very tempted to gatekeep this place but I just can't. My family loves pad Thai and shrimp spring rolls and have tried several places around town. This is my first time here and I just kind of stumbled upon it after getting my haircut next door, but I'm so glad I did! It's so good! The Pad Thai is kind of sweet but so good. I get mine without egg, bean sprouts, or green onions because I like it simple. I immediately texted my sisters to tell them we have to try this place! The restaurant is closing 10/10/22 for renovations for I think a month, but when they reopen, come! The soft spring rolls are good- the peanut sauce is hard to beat! The Thai tea is also very sweet because it has sweetened condensed milk, but still really good! I'll definitely be back.

Hubby and I dined here last week for lunch and it was quite pleasant. The interior decor is simple and clean. We were quickly seated and served. Nice portion of food at a reasonable price. Hubby ordered the Tiger Cry (8oz steak) while I enjoyed the Pad Garpow Kai Dow (stir-fried grounded chicken). I asked our server to make my dish mild and it was very delicious. We do hope to visit soon - highly recommended!

Where to begin? Having moved from north to south Austin a couple of years ago I was bummed thinking that I was leaving all the good Asian food Austin had to offer. Fortunately, I was wrong. Thai Taste is a hidden gem of southwest Austin and offers a wide variety of traditional and fusion Thai food. I love their pad thai and shrimp spring rolls. They're a must have every time I visit. Over time, I've tried other dishes and these do not disappoint. Instead, Thai Taste surprises me every time. The service and staff are great too whether you are dining or grabbing take out. The restaurant has a calm and quiet ambiance and fortunately draws a good crowd daily (from what I've seen), which is a testament to how good their food is. I recommend you check them out!

Got delivery from here this weekend, and I was pretty impressed. This may be my new go-to. The fried rice was a large portion, and tasted great. The noodle soup was yummy as well, although the pork was very dry, but this may have been due to it being delivered. I had a love/hate relationship with The beef salad. The beef had an overwhelming charred flavor and there were too many onion slices, but it was super fresh and the dressing was delicious. Really made me want to try the waterfall beef. I'm glad to discover this place and hope I can check it out in person soon.

Horrible service. Server barely spoke English and rushed us to order. They didn't have any siracha and when I asked she said we don't have that here. The hot and sour soup looked days old and when we told her it wasn't good she just said ok...no compensation, no empathy. Food was mediocre. Never going to return read more

Two stars simply cause the lady was nice. Holy cow that had to be the worst Thai food I've ever had. I've lived in LA so my standards for Thai food are pretty high but that was just not even palatable. The calamari was awful. No seasoning on the breading and you could smell the grease through the container. Egg drop soup...in the trash. Pad see you with chicken...noodles waaaaay too over cooked it was literally mush. And the chicken wasn't even seasoned. Yuck yuck yuck. I'm sorry, it was terrible and just the smell gives me nausea. Not worth my 15 bucks!!! read more

I really wanted to like this place, considering how close it was to my apartment and the good reviews I came across. I'm a lover of tom kha kai soup and I've been to quite a few thai restaurants, but this soup was very disappointing. It was so bland, I felt like I was eating white water with mushrooms. I couldn't even find lemongrass or spice in it. Such a let down. On top of that I decided to try their thai noodle soup with rice noodles and chicken. This soup is supposed to be savory and saltly. Nope. It was sweet and bland. Maybe I got the wrong stuff, but I'm really hesitant to give it another shot. read more

Sorry they have lost my business. Ordered Pad Thai to go, it was the worst. Used to have wonderful food not sure whats happened here very bland. No flavor at all. Called the restaurant all they said was sorry. No condiments were sent with the order either. read more

A coworker happened to notice this place when he was eating at the Jim's across the street, so he suggested we go there for lunch. BEST IDEA EVER. I'm seriously surprised to find Thai food this awesome in Oak Hill. I had the Pad Kee Mao with lemongrass/chicken soup. It was all excellent and just the right amount of spicy. Also, the portions seemed smaller than you'd find at most Thai places, but this is a good thing. It was just the right amount of food. Everything was so "just right" that I'm pretty sure the folks who run this place are psychic. I'm definitely adding Thai Taste to the "So, uh.... what's for lunch?" rotation! read more

Green curry is my benchmark food when comparing Thai restaurants, and this restaurant does a very good job. The beef in the green curry feels a bit over boiled but they do give a lot of vegetables in the curry as compared to Sap's (my other regular Thai place). The restaurant is really nice spot, but that whole area seems a bit run down. Hopefully it'll pick up soon. Prices are comparable. read more

This place is awesome! Remember that all Thai restaurants can have their own unique taste. Just a heads up if you go between 11-2, be prepared because this place will be full and there daily lunch specials are awesome. My wife and I visit this place quite often and its pretty awesome when they remember faces. For one facial recognition is awesome. They know my son will always ask for chicken nuggets and rice. The soups are awesome, when its cold outside I recommend their fire pot soups, especially the seafood one. Pad thai is great but we prefer either the yellow or green curry or the musaman curry. Also they started serving alcohol so thats a plus too. Before you leave you need to try the vietnamese coffee, highly recommend! read more

The food here is always great but i would get it for pick up only because the waitress is always extremely rude . I thanked her as i would any waitress when i get water refill or they bring anything and she literally just ignored me . Again she was very unpleasant and seemed very unhappy making you feel a bit uncomfortable. read more

Yes... another Thai restaurant.. We came in for lunch and I spent roughly $9 bucks for my Penang Curry, which was pretty delicious. Very spicy the way I like it. Service was a bit slow and they could've used a little more help during the lunch hour, so I guess allow more than an hour for your lunch break. I'd come back. read more

Best Pad Thai in Austin...I kid you not! Been here weekly for 2 years or so and finally writing the review...I'm so lazy! At first, we were a bit hesitant trying thai food in this strange strip mall. But what a nice surprise, the food is clean tasting, light and oh so yummy. The red curry, green curry is also spot on. If you're feeling adventurous, try the deep fried talapia with tamarind sauce...mmmm... I really like the way the chef seasons the dishes and the ladies are nice too! So come on by, grab a menu and enjoy! I'll probably see you there this weekend :) read more

Small place, seats maybe 40 people. No real authentic decor and a little run down. What they lack in aesthetic, they more than make up for in food quality. Their Green Curry is hot and delicious. The Indian Curry rice is freaking amazing! They bring the food out fast and service was really attentive. For people who eat at Thai (most Asian) places you know that customer service is pratically non existent. read more

Lies! yucky and flavorless. I got pad thai and egg rolls... I only ate the egg rolls cuz I was hungry. Icky icky! I couldn't swallow the pad thai it was just weird and no flavor. I don't like eating bland noodles and rubbery chicken. :l read more

I don't know why there are so many bad reviews, because we absolutely loved Thai Taste. We were there for lunch, and felt we got a great value for our money. I love the salad with peanut dressing, and we were both impressed with our meal selections. My husband got the yellow curry chicken, and I got the chicken with peanut sauce. The place was about 75% full at 1pm, so I'd say they do fairly well with their lunch crowd. I've never been there for dinner, so I can't comment on the dinner menu/value. I highly recommend this restaurant for a great Thai lunch! read more

Dined at THAI TASTE three times in 12 days, sampled 10 dishes, and result was the same each time: mediocre, or perhaps less than that. Too much sugar, absolutely no nuance of flavor, and rubbery meats. However, it is cheap and with easy parking. read more

This place is awesome. I visit it often for lunch since the specials are $6.95 so with a water and tax it runs $8.00 for an entree, egg roll and a salad (with the best peanut dressing I have ever had). I'm partial to spicy food, I love curry and TT serves all types of curry, green, red, yellow, everything...its delicious. I've tried about three different entrees and everything has been delicious. Its in an unassuming building, a strip mall essentially, and has plenty of parking although it competes with McD's. An authentic old Thai woman came out of the back of the kitchen while I was eating and she had an apron on so maybe that's why the food is so good. read more

Great food. The Pad Thai was excellent as were the pork dumplings. In fact, the latter were awesome! Yellow curry was very good and the chicken satay was spot on. This is one of the few restaurants I've been to in Austin that does NOT have the A/C at freezing. It was very comfortable - the the decor is sparse and the booths are hard and nearly 90 degree angle so not very comfortable. I'm a glutton for fountain drinks and don't like canned sodas. Next time, I'll go for Thai iced tea. There will definitely be many more "next times" for me! This is a very good, though rather understated place. I'm surprised that there were so few people there. I guess the secret is not out yet! Oh yeah - the service is infinitely better than Madam Ma'am's! read more

The best Thai place I've found in Austin! I now live 20 miles away, and still occasionally drive here when I'm craving Thai. The servers are friendly, and the food is more authentic than the Americanized variations other Thai restaurants in Austin serve. read more

THAI TASTE was opened by Som and Gib back in 2010, After 9 years of hard work, they have decided to move back to Thailand. And they want to thank each and everyone for the 9 years support. THAI TASTE is now opened under New Management. The new owners are Jenny and me "K" a young couple who started THAI FOOD trailer, operated for over 6 years in the Austin area. We worked hard to grow as a business and will now transition to owning THAI TASTE. All recipes are learned from over 30+ years of experience and proud to call her my mom "Eve" who has been working as a head chef behind many successful Thai restaurants here in Austin TX. Also "Shirley" my aunt will be working as the Sous-Chef together as a family. I had never been, but it was really close to where I was at, so I gave it a try. First things first, this a beautiful location with lots of seating at the bar and throughout the restaurant. The service is A1, I sat at the bar and was very impressed with the team's chemistry back there (especially while training someone new, they were spot on). The drinks were wonderful as well, very refreshing and lots of flavor. I enjoyed a yuzu & lavender sour & a grapefruit margarita and was impressed with how flavor forward the drinks were while still having a great boozy after effect. Also, I know traditionally oysters aren't usually a thing that you enjoy during the months that don't have an R in them, but I have to say salt traders definitely defied that "rule". Hands down some of my favorite oysters I have EVER had; I enjoyed the Va Va Vooms from Maryland and the Demariscotta Oysters from Maine and still haven't been able to stop thinking about them (it's been about a week or so now & I'm already planning to go back)! I also enjoyed the torched scallop nigiri, the daily crudo, and the salmon plate (that Dijon bbq sauce was craaaazy good, I'll have to order an extra serving of the sauce on the side next time I enjoyed it so much). Lastly, this place has an amazing happy hour, which I noticed fills up fast. Highly recommend going to Salt Trader's if you haven't yet. Today, craving Thai cuisine, I stumbled upon 'That Taste,' and it's bound to become my go-to lunch spot. As soon as I stepped in, I was greeted with impeccable service and the friendliest staff. Tried this for the first time the other day. I tried my standards Green Curry and Pad Thai and had a couple of other dishes to test their versatility. The food was better than the majority of places I have tried in the Austin area, after living in Thailand and Hawaii I have pretty high standards for Thai food. This is probably the best Thai food in town with the new management. The pad thai and yum woonsen is the best there. I love the huge picture in the front of the restaurant.
