    Tom kha soup large
    Anoop I.

We visited this nice neighborhood Thai place in Oak Hill on a quiet weekday evening. We ordered a panang curry with vegetables and a large bowl of tom kha soup with vegetables. The tom kha was great, it had a good tangy flavor and it carried the meal for me. The curry was a bit less of a hit from my perspective. I wished it was more creamy with more coconut milk; it was a tad thin. The seating was wooden benches which were not quite comfortable. The cushions which were a decent attempt at padding the benches kept sliding. Service was friendly but slow; we had to ask a couple of times to get warm water. Due to proximity we'll probably visit again.

Food was 10/10! Would definitely come back. Tried the yellow curry and pad kee mao and they both had so much flavor. Prices are affordable too. Service was good and we would definitely come back.

Monday it was exceptionally cold in Austin. We are in town for a job & cold weather makes me want Thai food. We were greeted as we walked in which started us off on a good note. We ordered Hot Jasmine tea which was perfect. We ordered Crab Rangoon which I must say is the best I've had in forever. There was an ample size filling & the crusts was cooked perfectly. I usually don't like the dip because it's too sweet but this was very fresh & spicy ...Yummy! My husband had the Pad Kee Mao & really enjoyed it. I had Basil Fried Rice with chicken ( could have used a little more chicken) it was good too. The plates had a nice visual presentation as well. All in all a good experience & we will be back.

We picked up takeout from here the other day (easy process) because we were hoping to find good Thai food near our house. While i still think we have some searching to do, Thai Taste offers a decent alternative. The pad thai was a bit too dry for my taste, and the pineapple fried rice didn't have the punch of flavor I'm used to. However, again, not a ton of options for Thai food in this part of town, so still a solid choice!

I was very tempted to gatekeep this place but I just can't. My family loves pad Thai and shrimp spring rolls and have tried several places around town. This is my first time here and I just kind of stumbled upon it after getting my haircut next door, but I'm so glad I did! It's so good! The Pad Thai is kind of sweet but so good. I get mine without egg, bean sprouts, or green onions because I like it simple. I immediately texted my sisters to tell them we have to try this place! The restaurant is closing 10/10/22 for renovations for I think a month, but when they reopen, come! The soft spring rolls are good- the peanut sauce is hard to beat! The Thai tea is also very sweet because it has sweetened condensed milk, but still really good! I'll definitely be back.

Hubby and I dined here last week for lunch and it was quite pleasant. The interior decor is simple and clean. We were quickly seated and served. Nice portion of food at a reasonable price. Hubby ordered the Tiger Cry (8oz steak) while I enjoyed the Pad Garpow Kai Dow (stir-fried grounded chicken). I asked our server to make my dish mild and it was very delicious. We do hope to visit soon - highly recommended!

Where to begin? Having moved from north to south Austin a couple of years ago I was bummed thinking that I was leaving all the good Asian food Austin had to offer. Fortunately, I was wrong. Thai Taste is a hidden gem of southwest Austin and offers a wide variety of traditional and fusion Thai food. I love their pad thai and shrimp spring rolls. They're a must have every time I visit. Over time, I've tried other dishes and these do not disappoint. Instead, Thai Taste surprises me every time. The service and staff are great too whether you are dining or grabbing take out. The restaurant has a calm and quiet ambiance and fortunately draws a good crowd daily (from what I've seen), which is a testament to how good their food is. I recommend you check them out!

Got delivery from here this weekend, and I was pretty impressed. This may be my new go-to. The fried rice was a large portion, and tasted great. The noodle soup was yummy as well, although the pork was very dry, but this may have been due to it being delivered. I had a love/hate relationship with The beef salad. The beef had an overwhelming charred flavor and there were too many onion slices, but it was super fresh and the dressing was delicious. Really made me want to try the waterfall beef. I'm glad to discover this place and hope I can check it out in person soon.

There were water, bowls, utensils, and sauces in the lobby for anyone to grab, which was nice. We ordered their cucumber salad, beef noodle soup, and lamb noodle soup. Cucumber salad was 2/5. It wasn't the authentic smashed cucumber salad, the flavor was missing something, and I mean, for $7 or $8, you would think it would be amazing....it's not. Pretty disappointing, I'd much rather have my sister's over these. Beef noodle soup was meh. Nothing special. Broth was very simple, like they just added salt and that's it. Meat was cooked very well. My soup came with 1 piece of lettuce, weird.. Lamb noodle soup was the same as the beef noodle soup; it did come with the black fungus, seaweed, tofu, and some vermicelli clear noodles, along with their handmade noodles. Made sense why it was only $13.95 for the noodle soups. It's reasonably priced probably due to not being authentic, though, I wouldn't pay more than $10. They had handmade noodles, which many people do like. However, their noodles were very bland, along with their soup. I didn't find anything special here either. Maybe I'll get their dumplings or fried noodles the next time we come, but it's a no for me.

No beers on tap, but they've got the usual stuff in bottles. We started with the chilled cucumber salad, and it was a crunchy and fresh beginning which we enjoyed. For mains, the three of us shared Dan Dan Noodles, steamed pork dumplings, and the chicken wonton soup. Everything was good. The dumplings were sturdy and tender, the noodles had just the right amount of peppercorn, and the wontons were also tasty. Chicken Paitan DX Ramen: A sweet soy glazed chicken leg is served on a hot sizzling plate with a small bed of bean sprouts marinating in the sauce. The sauce is a sticky, sweet soy sauce that is so delicious. The chicken leg itself is tender, juicy, and has a great skin texture. The skin soaks up the sauce so well and even has some nice charred bits that add to the flavor and complexity of the dish. The ramen itself was great too. A creamy rich chicken broth. I got the spicy level, so one level under the top spice level and it was perfect. Not unbearably spicy, but had a really nice underlying kick. The noodles are a thin yet snappy noodle so it made it easy to eat. I love the corn and mushroom spirals too! Overall, if you come based on this review, make sure to get the chicken paitan dx ramen. The bowl itself came loaded with meat--they definitely weren't skimping to save money here. The meat-to-noodle ratio felt great, and every bite actually had substance instead of leaving me fishing around for toppings. As for the broth, I landed somewhere in the middle. It wasn't quite as clear or light as I personally prefer, leaning toward a fattier, milkier undertone that almost reminded me of a Vietnamese pho take on tonkotsu. The flavor itself was undeniably very good, but the richness may have been a bit too much for me personally. One way I usually judge how much I love a pho broth is whether I want to sip the bowl down to the very end, and this one wasn't quite light enough for me to want to do that. I've had richer and deeper pho flavors elsewhere, but I still appreciated the flavor profile here and could absolutely see why this place is so popular. It feels hearty, comforting, and satisfying in a way that clearly resonates with many people. Despite how packed the restaurant was, the atmosphere ended up being surprisingly pleasant. Service moved very quickly, which honestly impressed me given how busy everything felt. Even with the crowd, I didn't dislike the spacing or setup at all--the restaurant still felt comfortable, and the sound of people enjoying their food all around added to the lively, welcoming energy rather than making it feel overwhelming. Overall, Pho Phong Lưu ended up being one of those places where I completely understood the hype, even if it didn't become my personal favorite pho spot. While the broth leaned richer than my preference, I still enjoyed the experience and definitely look forward to trying other dishes next time.

I came here on a word-of-mouth recommendation, and I was intrigued before I even sat down. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a beautifully designed waiting area showcasing the restaurant's many awards and accolades. It immediately sets the tone that you're in for something special. We came with one goal: try as many things as possible. Saturdays are perfect for that because they offer dim sum. We started with the Pho Xiao Long Bao (Wagyu beef soup dumplings) and the Korean pancakes. The soup dumplings completely stole the show. Perfectly cooked, delicate wrappers, rich and flavorful broth, and with just a touch of chili oil...absolute perfection. I've had soup dumplings in many places, and these are hands down the best I've ever had. I say that with my whole chest. The Korean pancakes were also outstanding. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, with that perfect balance of savory and just a hint of sweetness. Every bite had great texture and flavor. For our entrées, my husband ordered the Banana Salmon. It was spectacular. It's one of those dishes that makes you question whether you've ever really had good curry before. The spice wasn't about heat, it was about depth, warmth, and layers of beautifully balanced flavor. I ordered the Crab&Shrimp Tom Yum Coconut Fried Rice, and this dish deserves its own paragraph. The presentation alone is stunning. The fried rice is served inside a fresh coconut, surrounded by banana leaves and topped with a beautiful orchid. But thankfully, it tastes every bit as incredible as it looks. The coconut adds a delicate sweetness without overpowering the dish. The crab was plentiful, sweet, and incredibly fresh, while the shrimp were perfectly cooked, not a second overdone. Dishes like this require impeccable timing because every ingredient cooks differently, and somehow every single component was flawless. It was one of the best fried rice dishes I've ever eaten. The service was equally impressive. Everyone was warm, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations based on their most popular dishes. They even told us about their live music nights, which immediately gave us another reason to come back. The table next to us was having Pho and needed with the mango sticky rice and I am coming back for that. Overall, 1618 Asian Fusion delivered on every level, beautiful atmosphere, exceptional food, and genuinely welcoming service.
