Thai Texas is locally owned and family run. The restaurant is a vibe, the booth tables are huts, and there's a cool diorama in the center of the restraunt. My fiance has been trying something new every time we go (We probably go monthly, we love it and take every opportunity to take friends/ family here.) I however, find it very hard not to order the crispy pad thai or the pineapple coconut curry. If you love spicy, I mean spicy, get their shrimp poppers (if you like that, their spice levels are usually 1-5, but apparently go up to 15. We always order level 10s.). Quite possibly the biggest blessing known to south arlington. Did you know they provide free delivery within a certain range of the restaurant? We could not help ourselves and got a a little bit of everything. The drunken noodles and volcano chicken were my absolute favorites. While in Arlington, did a quick search on yelp for some lunch options. Thai Texas popped up and we decided to visit them. Ah! Am so glad we did! Doesn't look like much from the outside, the inside though is quaint and cozy with the cutest booths! We were greeted with a warm smile and seated immediately. Our waitress was the friendliest person! She told us that most of the items on their menu could be made vegan! Really? I liked them already! We ordered pad Thai and pad see ew with tofu, from the lunch specials to share. If a restaurant can make Tom kha soup vegan, I am going to get one, so I had to get a bowl of that as well. Our food came out quick. Everything on the table was delicious, Pad see ew especially was fantastic. I could eat it every single day. If I had something negative to say it would be the carpet. In my opinion, carpets don't belong in restaurants, the stains are hard to remove and stains don't look good! Well, they have a lunch special menu priced at $7.99(including weekends) which includes a salad and spring roll. Amazing food, great service and reasonable prices, what's not to like? The ambiance was cute but that's about where it ended. I was hoping for a good experience since so close to home. The fried rice was bland and boring. The teriyaki sauce on chicken tasted like store bought, way too sweet. The soup was basically water, little broth and all the raw mushrooms - not much flavor at all. Drunken noodles was a mess. The veggies were raw, yet the noodles were broken, soggy and mushy texture. The chicken was tender and tasted good, as did the sauce. But not enough to make up for the bad noodles & raw veg. The lime helped out so much. I'm not a spicy master but 3 is mild so I woulda also gotten a 4 again Drunken Noodles - As everything else, also really good. Not the best I've had but really flavorful so don't not look past this dish. Went to yelp to look up Thai food and this was the first option. Looked through the reviews and thought to giver it a try. I'm so glad I did. I went during quarantine so I did take out, but I went inside to pay for the food and the restaurant was nice. The waiters then brought my food outside to my car, I like that. Now let's get into the food! I got drunken noodles with shrimp, spice level 4. It was perfect, spicy but not too spicy! I like that the shrimp was pre peeled, I hate having to peel it mid bite. I also got the Thai tea, it was good but need a little more cream. It's not a sweet as ive had it in the past. Next time I will tell them to add more. As for the drunken noodles it was soooo good. When I got home my family tore it up. Very sacrificing and I will be back maybe next week to get it again! I highly recommend this Thai Texas! read more

I got the Drunken Noodle and my friend got the Pad Woon Sen and we got a 7 on the spicy level. Damnnnn, that spicy level is nooooo joke. Me and my friend regularly get spicy food and we were sweating up a storm when we ate!!! If you haven't been before, definitely go lower for the first time so that you don't start the hot sweats like us. We also received a dope salad for the lunch special. The salad was typical but the sauce was absolutely unbelievable! The peanut sauce was sweet and really peanuty. You could tell it was made with love and tasted sublime. The Lard Na was excellent (great balance of noodle, meat, and veg). Same for the Pad Woon Sen. I'll definitely be back to try their Pad Thai since that peanut sauce was great but definitely at a lower spicy level @.@ Also on the other reviews about the architecture, its not really Hawaiian since the boats inside ware actually Ruea Hang Yao. The pictures and theme are much more Thai than Hawaiian (take it from me since I've been to Thailand). Its also dimly lit inside but its not a big deal. It's safe to say that this is one of my favorite hole-in--the- wall places. I think their decor definitely adds character and culture to their restaurant. I would definitely recommend trying out their lunch specials found on the back of their menu (such a great deal!) They have certain dishes that I havent been able to find in other thai restaurants (eg their delicious duck curry!) If you like thai salads, I would also recommend their papaya salad. Off in a little shopping strip off I-20 and Green Oaks, you may miss it if you're not paying attention, Thai Texas is truly a hidden gem in Arlington. Family-owned and operated, you walk into a Tiki hut-type atmosphere, unique is a good thing. The menu is quite extensive offering a variety of your typical Thai dishes, I usually get the Pad See Ew with beef, don't forget to add a spicy level if you want a kick. I find that "Level 3" is just a good amount of kick, I went to 4 once and I did not enjoy my meal, not because of the quality, more like my mouth and stomach were burning. But what is truly the best here are the lunch menu specials! While the dishes are a little bit smaller for lunch, it still fills you up because you get a side of soup or salad and an egg roll. Good quality food for $7.99 or $9.99, you can't beat that! The Thai tea is pretty good as well, often finishing it before my meal arrives. I do not like my food spicy so I got it at a level one for spicy, the spice level goes all the way to five in case you like spicy food. The taste was amazing! They give you so much food you have to get a to go box and believe me I was not going to leave any on my plate. I had enough for lunch the next day. The service there is outstanding. The night that did me in, we waited forever to get waited on, in the first place. People who came in after us got served, while we did not. I finally flagged down our waitress and she then told us our order had been missed. 45 minutes later, still no food. 2 5 hours total and NO FOOD. I can never decide which curry I want because I love them all, but I had Massaman last with tofu (potato, carrots, onion, peanuts, & coconut milk) -- it's $10.95 and worth it. I always have leftovers because the portions are pretty big. And it's just soooo delicious. The entree comes with a little salad with a peanut dressing, which is good and cool and crunchy, a perfect pairing for the curry which is so hot and heavy.
