We have ordered takeout from here a couple times before and my family typically enjoys many of the dishes on their menu. However, they must have been having an off-day because the Khao soi didn't come with the right kind of noodles (maybe they ran out of their usual supply?) *and* was a laughably small portion. I was very disappointed because it's supposed to be one of their specialities.. if you ran out of one of the key staples of the dish at least have the courtesy to call and let your customer know, to see if they are ok with the substitution! Will come back and try it again some day in the future, hopefully they can redeem themselves. read more

Thai Tea (and water) is served with shaved ice in an EXTRA large cup -- our party was like "Whoa!!" when we received it. The people / service was with a lot of TLC! You feel welcomed. I ordered the Pineapple chicken rice and it was at a perfectly spicy level (I like pretty spicy) that had a little bit of after-burn, bringing sweat to my face and scalp. If you're not a fan, as the server for a lower than usual level of heat on the dish. Would I return? You betcha. While other Thai restaurants are nearby, Thai Thai is very much worth the 30-minute drive. Their Pad Thai was excellent, the pork slices fresh and tasty and -- unusual for some reason -- tender, not overcooked. The Tom Kha was a very tasty soup, with a generous helping of soft tofu chunks. In fact, I'd have been happy to have traded a few tofus for more of that fantastic broth. But here's the coup de gras: My brother asked if they had Mee Krob, a dish very few Thai restaurants offer, and which wasn't on their menu. He expected a No, but was delighted when the owner said she'd make some especially for him. He'd had it in Thailand a long time ago, and said what we shared here was every bit as good. It's kind of hard to describe; it's mostly crispy noodles in a flavorful sauce with several prawns and other ingredients (if you don't like shrimp, you could request it with different protein). Not only was it decadently tasty, but the price was reasonable, especially given the custom dish and great quantity. We split it, each bringing some home; and I got two more meals out of my remaining half. Despite that drive, I'll be back. Soon. read more

Ordered for a friend and I. We had pot stickers which were okay if uninspired. Tom Kha soup which I always order, had it a few hundred times. It was too sweet for either one of us to eat, absurdly sweet almost like a syrup. Pad thai with chicken also overly sweet seriously colored red with something and not particularly flavorful. I hate to write this 1 star review, because I have been coming here for years, and the food has always been good. I ordered the Spicy Eggplant (I have had here it at least a dozen times), 3/10 spice, same as always. The dish came out so hot that I couldn't eat any more than 1 bite. I told the man there that it was way too hot and I was unable to eat it, as I was still burning up 5+ minutes after my one bite. (He's maybe the owner? He's been there every time I have, so he knows who I am.) He gave some excuse about the peppers they get. The. I again expressed I couldn't eat it, he finally he took the plate, then came back with another, much darker dish. One bite, and again, inedible. It was maybe an 8/10 ~ enough to cause flushing, sweating, and coughing. Again, I pushed it away and finally got his attention. I told him it was still too hot, and he told me something about they never know how hot the peppers they get are going to be and that they made a whole new dish and this time it had no spice!! I didn't think he'd lie to me, so I asked for a clean plate, thinking maybe my plate was covered in spicy sauce from the original dish. New plate .... same outcome. Far too hot to eat, but I tried a few bites, thinking maybe the burn was from before. Nope! Now I was in an incredibly uncomfortable situation, coughing and sweating. The huge tumbler of ice water was zero help. I took the coconut broth from my Tom Kha and put rice in it, hoping the baby food-like mush would help cool me down. Nope! When he came to ask if I wanted to-go boxes since 90%+ of the dish was still there, I expressed again that I wasn't able to eat it. And he could obvious see I was in visible discomfort. HE NEITHER TOOK IT OFF MY BILL NOR OFFERED ME A DIFFERENT DISH! I told him I had only had soup for dinner since I couldn't eat the eggplant hoping he'd at least bring me some egg rolls or something so I wouldn't leave hungry, and he again stated that they had made a new dish for me with no spice (in actuality, they simply added some dark sauce, maybe soy, trying to dilute the spice, to no avail), and walked away with my credit card as I was telling him how hungry I still was. Coward didn't return to my table (he's the ONLY person there who has ever waited on me) but had a woman return with my card and receipt. Since I'd been forced to pay for it, I took it with me to give my neighbor who loves hot food. My dad who normally gets his Thai food 6-8/10 depending on the dish, said "Oh my god, that's hot" when he took a taste, and sd it was too spicy for him. My neighbor, who I've seen order a 9/10 at Spicy King agreed that this was around an 8/10. So disappointed, as I had been looking forward to my favorite Thai dish. read more

I ate inside today for the first time since COVID-19. It was pretty busy but I was seated in a few minutes. I quickly ordered their Chicken Pad Thai lunch special. First the appetizer plate then the main course. The cook is a little different than last time when I ordered the same dish. Overall, it tastes fine with large portion and love the soup in the appetizer plate. Be careful with your spice level, a 5 out of 10 stars is like a 8 in other places. I recently moved up Oceanside and tried a few local Thai places, yet none can hold a candle to this restaurant. The menu is extensive and includes a lot of authentic dishes you don't see at many places. The price points are amazing, you can get a MASSIVE tub of curry for $14. I make my own rice at home and can make 3-4 meals with it. I've tried every type of curry on the menu are they are all delicious. And the owner is such a sweet person. She is ALWAYS working behind the counter and remembers me every time. I am usually here at least a couple times per week. Highly recommended for takeout. read more

My husband and I really enjoy this place since it opened. We have probably ordered food here at least 15 times and we have never been disappointed. We dined-in for the first time last week and it was a great experience. The portions are huge! The service was great! And the food was amazing! I like my food spicy and always order an 8 or 10. Sometimes I get disappointed when the spice level doesn't meet my expectation from other restaurants. But Thai Thai sure knows how to add flavor and spice to their food! Love it! Since I'd never been here before, I decided to order my old standby, Pad See Ew with chicken, no spiciness. I was very pleased that it was true to its word and actually was not spicy at all, as this is an issue I've had at other restaurants. I also appreciated the amount of veggies in the dish, although I wish they had been cut into smaller pieces (a minor complaint, I know, but these pieces of broccoli were wayy bigger than bite size!) Our current favorite North County Thai spot! Love their spicy noodles (with pork + xtra veggies) and their green curry with chicken. Crab wontons can be a little underfried and the pad thai noodles can be a bit gummy, but most often the food is excellent. We love Thai Thai. We moved to vista 7 years ago and this will always be our go to place for authentic Thai food. We used to go to the Thai Thai when it was off of Arcadia and East Vista Way, but when the chef opened her own location off of oceanside Blvd, we followed. It's a further drive from us, but other it. We love the ladies and the service. The food is always good. The spice and flavor is probably the most authentic to food in Thailand. We always get the papaya salad, a curry and soup and is always left with leftovers. I love this little Thai restaurant. Their presentation of food is delightful, and the dishes I have had there--mainly curries--have been delicious. I found the service to be great as well, as our server knew how to advise us on the amount of spiciness in dishes and he was right on. The place is also decorated for the season, whatever it is. One thing that is a negative (for a family member and a friend) is that there were flashing lights in the windows, and those kinds of blinking lights cause both people to become dizzy. So, it is a consideration if one has that condition. But the food and ambiance and service are great. read more
