Thai Wok & Cafe is my default answer whenever anyone asks for a Thai recommendation in Fresno. Has been for a while now. The pad thai is really good, like legitimately good not just "good for Fresno" good. The drunken noodles are my personal order every time and they nail the heat level, you can actually customize spice and they respect whatever you ask for. Too many places just make everything the same regardless. The bubble tea is a nice bonus. Good variety and it pairs well if you want something to sip on while you eat or take to go. I love Thai cuisine but often times the flavor from restaurant to restaurant seems the same. I was told that their recipe originates from northern Thailand. I honestly don't know what makes the regions different but the store manager stated they are more authentic versus others that incorporate a fusion style of Thai food. Ordered the Chicken Satay, Papaya Salad and Pad Thai. What stood out for me was the Chicken Satay. Although common in other Thai restaurants, the satay was the most flavorful and can honestly say are one of the better dishes compared to others that I've had at other restaurants. I had stopped by to pick up some dinner. When I was leaving my front bumper got caught on the parking curb and I didn't realize it when I parked initially, leading to my bumper getting torn off completely (don't judge me lol). I had gone back inside and asked if I could get some help. I felt bad because it was kind of busy. The owner Wilson came out and helped me get it and attempt to get it in my car but ultimately it didn't fit. He reassured me it seemed to be an easy fix and what I would need to get it back together. My husband ended up coming with a bigger car to get the front bumper and bringing it home. I'm so grateful for Wilson for taking time and not making me feel like a bother even though it was busy and my problem wasn't his problem but he came to help without any hesitation. When I got home the food was all still hot after all of the delay. I ordered over $120 worth of food and it was all delicious. The red curry I added potatoes to it was my favorite. But what made my experience even better this time is Wilson's kindness and comfort. Red curry is my test at any Thai restaurant. I love it! I ordered red curry pork. The curry was delicious. The veggies great but the pork was extremely tough. Very disappointing. The lunch also came with sticky rice and veggie egg roll. The egg roll was mostly potato. Not interesting to me. The sticky rice was spot on. I'll try this restaurant again though. This is a small place tucked into a strip mall next to the old Culichi restaurant. The food was excellent. We had a larb salad which comes with pieces of Romain lettuce and you put the ground meat and veggies on it. We also got an excellent green curry and a perfectly cooked Thai basil pork dish with rice. The pad see ew was great too - not too sweet and perfectly cooked fried tofu. The Boba drinks were also nice as you can choose the level of sweetness you want. On top of that the prices were reasonable and the service was good. We came in at 5 pm and the place was empty. We were greeted right when we walked in, seated and provided a menu. Our server was really sweet and helpful. Beef salad - 4/5 The dish was very good. There just were too much onions for my liking. Once you get to the bottom of the dish, the sauce becomes very overpowering and salty. Thai Chicken Wing - 5/5 - this dish came out crispy with the right amount of sauce and flavoring. The chicken itself was still moist. Beef PadSeeEw- 4/5 - This dish came out last. This is one of my favorite quick-and-easy Thai places! We ordered our food for pick up. The lady was very nice on the phone and it wasn't hard at all to place it. Yes, yes, and yes. Tonight we tried the Thai Papa Salad, Chicken Pad Thai, Chicken Satay and the Crab Fried Rice. Everything was wonderful. The papaya salad was the perfect blend of crunchy and tart and spicy. The dressing used was perfect. The salad had the perfect amount of heat. The chicken pad Thai was so good. Our sat on the table for a little while because we were all talking, but no matter how long it's sit the noodles were perfect. The texture did not change. The coconut soup was so good. That was my first time having it and the entire time I was eating it I kept thinking I would definitely have that again. The crab fried rice was filled with chunks of crab. I was here last night with the Yelp event and had to come back to order more for my family. I got an order of the crab fried rice which I had tried last night and loved the real crab meat and flavor. Wished it had a few more veggies in it. I also ordered chicken fried rice which had a nice portion of meat in it. Chicken green Curry was a medium spice and I thought that was perfect. The chicken and veggie amounts were perfect. And the last thing I ordered was the Panang Chicken Curry, Mild which to me is a little similar in taste as the green curry and was also very delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a spacious interior with plenty of seating (and it's always clean), everything is made-to-order, and the staff themselves are really nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered their Pad Thai with beef, and I've also had the chance to try their crispy pork belly appetizer and strawberry green tea with lychee jelly. The Pad Thai with beef was fantastic, and hit all the right flavor notes. Juicy, hearty beef topping perfectly-chewy rice noodles in a slighty sweet and salty sauce. The crispy pork belly was delicious - I'm not sure what the green sauce they serve it with is, I think it's some sort of chili sauce, but that just added everything that the pork belly needed. It was a little plain by itself, but still good. The strawberry green tea was really the cherry (or I should say, "strawberry") on top. One of the managers, Wilson, told me they actually use a sugarcane-based syrup, and that really made a difference. It tasted a lot less artificial, and I honestly crave it a lot despite living across town. (Got to try their passion fruit tea later!) I got to chat with some of the other staff, and they are kind and take good care of their patrons. I really wanted to enjoy the tofu Pad Thai here, but unfortunately, it missed the mark for me. The flavor was unbalanced - way too tangy and overly sweet, which overpowered any of the traditional savory elements you'd expect from Pad Thai. On top of that, it was excessively peanut buttery. I usually prefer a more subtle peanut undertone, but this tasted like straight-up liquid peanut butter, which made the entire dish feel heavy and one-dimensional. The tofu itself was disappointingly plain, with no real seasoning or sear to help it stand out. It felt more like they tossed the tofu in afterwards because it did not taste like it had any sauce nor seasoning on it. Overall, the execution just didn't come together for me. Here for a review on a recommendation for its service and food. My wife and I shared a Thai Papaya salad along with an order of Drunken noodles. The salad was fresh, crunchy and delicious. The Drunken noodles was also good but lacking in quantity compared to other Thai restaurants I've been to otherwise a good dish. Also ordered a Lychee Fruit Tea with boba with a sweetness level you can choose from 0-100%, my drink was 25% and still pretty sweet. I live down the street so of course I had to give this place a try. There's plenty of parking but sometimes the lot can be tricky to get in to. There's plenty are 2 entrances to the lot. 1 on marks and the other on Shaw. We were greeted right away by a nice lady who sat us at a clean table. She brought us water with a smile on her face. After a while she came to take our order and didn't even have to write it down. She took 3 orders by memory and recited them back to us. I was impressed! We decided on the Thai wings, drunken noodles and the pad Thai. I wish the food had matched the wonderful service but I'm sad to say flavor was lacking. My favorite has been the Thai Basil with sliced chicken and added egg on top. I've never had it that way before but seriously tip die for good. The yolk just takes it to a new level. I have been here a couple times now. The food and service is good. The staff seem excited about the food. The food for me has been hit and miss. The first time we ate here the food was very over salted and we couldn't finish it. The second time the food was actually closer to the bland side and we were underwhelmed with some of the dishes. However, I was very happy with the crab fried rice, the papaya salad, and the coconut soup. Those three stood out to me from what we ordered and I'd probably stick to those going back. The order: I got the Pork Jerky which was the best of the 3 items I got. It was savory and literally jerky like. I wished I got some sticky rice on the side to pair with it. The Tom Yum Soup was sad to say, was very very salty. I have had Tom yum soup before and I know everyone may make it a little differently, but this soup was so salty I couldn't finish it. I had to drink lots of water in between. I don't know if it was boil down too much making it so salty or someone was too heavy handed on seasoning. Not only was it salty, but it was REALLY acidic. The final item I got was the beef salad, and that fell a little short in terms of flavor. Everything was there, the cucumber and tomatoes were fresh and the beef was cooked nicely, but there was barely any flavor. So overall, disappointed in the food. I just moved to the area and was chatting with my new neighbors last night about where to eat. They immediately said, "You have to try Thai Wok!" so of course, I had to check it out for lunch today. I called ahead to ask what could be made vegan, and they were so accommodating -- basically everything I asked about could be made vegan! I'm glad to see a Thai spot on this side of town. Came here on a Saturday night an hour before closing, it seemed like a slow night. Two tables. But the food came super fast. It didn't feel like even 10 minutes. Fresh and hot. Pad Thai: it was sweet and tangy. A good balance. I do wish it was a tad bit more saltier, just a bit. My choice was protein was beef. I wasn't a fan of the beef. It was chewy and kind of gamey. The beef was cooked separately and didn't absorb any of the sauce from the pad thai. Service was EXCELLENT! I use a wheelchair & they graciously accommodated me. They set up the table by pulling away the chairs & since COVID is still real for me, they sat us further away from other ppl. Plus, our waitress was very attentive. ORDER: Eggrolls: crispy & tasty. Banana Samosa: crispy & not overly sweet. Lychee Tea w/Boba (25% sweet): so good! Can't imagine anyone getting it sweeter though. Such a great local Thai place.
