I sent an email to ask some questions about their date night Fridays and I got responses pretty quickly! On Fridays, they offer a deal where you can pay $10 for two people that comes with free drinks as well as a BOGO deal on drinks and food as long as you play 2-player games. We got the ham and swiss panini, chicken bacon ranch panini, Italian soda, and Sugar Fog. I love that they let you choose up to 4 flavors for your Italian sodas so allows for fun combinations. The paninis were great for their price and flavorful! The drinks were wonderful too, we were big fans of the Sugar Fog. The decor in the cafe is very chill and cozy. I love that on each table on the side we were at had a sticker on the edge of the table, added a cute touch. The games are organized very well and they even have a dedicated drawer for two player games. It's clear where to put your plates. They do have a bathroom with a code but there is a sign that says what the passcode is so you don't have to awkwardly ask for it. There is plenty of seating inside as well as big table spaces to play board games. The service here is friendly and professional. Additionally, they are great at making your drinks quickly even when they get busy. They also do hold your card but there are plenty of ways to remind you to get your card back, which I appreciate as I am a very forgetful person. They also offer a stamp card and I love how cute it is. We look forward to coming back!

Wow! What an amazing business model! $7 door fee gets you a "free" 12oz coffee drink and access to unlimited game play! The food is delicious and very affordable, and the coffee tasted good. The staff was also friendly and time-efficient. There are SO MANY games. I recognized several of them but there are so many I didn't. I need to keep coming back to play them all! The games are well organized based on a variety of criteria: game difficulty, number of players, and type (classic, family, strategy, etc). Overall, a great experience and awesome hangout spot. I miss Metronome coffee (occupied the space prior to 15%), but I'm happy the space is what it is now!

Came by today a little before lunch (Friday) to scope it out and try a new game! Only 1 table occupied but 2 more tables were in use by the time we left for lunch. We were greeted when we arrived and paid the $7/person fee to play games and each got a drink. My husband liked his Americano and I enjoyed my chai latte, we also got a Parmesan bacon biscuit! We walked over to the wall of games and whoa, what a great selection! I really loved how the games were organized. We checked out the "2 person games" and settled on Slip Strike. It was relatively easy to follow and figure out the rules and the game just took less than a half hour. I love that we are getting more interesting socializing/drink/fun spots like this in Tacoma! Service was friendly, and we hope to come back soon! We parked on the street but there was plenty of parking in the lot next to the building (posted 2 hr limit).

This board game cafe is a great hangout alternative to the bar scene in Tacoma. I've really wanted a place like this to open in this area for a long time and they have done a great job with it! They do offer wine and beer for late night drinks as well as coffee and normal cafe drinks. For food they had some baked goods and sandwiches. The sandwiches are pretty simple but also reasonably priced so not a bad choice for a quick bite. The games are the star, they have a large game area with a fireplace and a selection of probably 100 games to choose from. There is an initial charge of 7$ to play games and that includes a drink. After the initial fee you can play as long as you want.

    Fun selection of games!

So refreshing and light, not too sweet either. The lemon poppyseed scone was also delicious. Employees were all incredibly friendly and service was very fast. I saw them mixing up fresh matcha for each order which is always a good sign, and they served "for here" items on actual dish ware and in glasses which is great. This location is small but is very cute and cozy. Nice and calm vibes inside with big windows and natural light. The tables aren't really designed for you to sit for a long time, they're small and not very cushy. It's a great spot to grab a to go coffee or just stop for a brief break while around the area. I will definitely be back to actually get the coffee this time. But if you're there for tea or matcha, it's a hit!

It was good to have this shop during my conference, which took place at the university, especially in between different sessions. Diversions Cafe primarily serves the students here - and I was impressed that they serve Caffe Vita coffee, which is my favorite coffee. When the coffee is this good, a drip coffee is all you need, which I drank a ton of during my conference. But they have a full coffee and espresso menu and they also have Lotus Elixir energy drinks here. The pastries are few, but there's something if you need to nibble. I like that there's plenty of space if you want to hang out with your coffee, which I imagine is perfect if you're a student. It's centrally located on campus too and opens early. I was glad to have this caffeinated option on campus during my time here.

The staff there was very delightful and nice, never rushed us, not crowded, and it was even during rush hour time too. I was kind of scared I was about to have a panic attack since usually that's the time I get overstimulated with the kids getting out of school and all the cars driving around like it's the horse races! But no! I am very pleased where they built the coffee restaurant where you don't stand out amongst the crowds, and when you leave, you're able to just leave kind of towards the back away from the chaos. 5 stars!! Everybody grab yourself some strong coffee there!!! You song regret it!!

I used to visit the Sacramento location, so it was a nice surprise seeing one nearby. My review is mainly for the desserts since I still haven't tried the coffee yet (though I'm sure it's probably great too since they're known for their Yemeni coffee). The menu seems very similar to the Sacramento location, but I'm giving 4 stars because they don't carry the one dessert I've been seriously craving: Turkish delight! The Sacramento location has it and I was definitely hoping to grab some here but I didn't see any on display or on the menu :( The milk cakes were thankfully just as good and super consistent between locations. We ordered the pistachio milk cake and the caramel milk cake (different pricing, depending on flavor probably). Both were incredibly moist, flavorful, and just really delicious. If you've never tried the milk cakes here, I definitely recommend them. They taste high quality, for sure, and a perfect treat for a sweet tooth. I had my husband try one for the first time since he likes caramel, and he immediately said it tasted so fancy he felt like he should be sticking his pinky out while eating it lol. I told him it *is* around $10 a slice, after all. We stopped by on a weekday afternoon and the parking lot was busy and the café itself was packed, so it definitely seems like a popular spot. They also have a points rewards program you can sign up for with just your phone number. I'll definitely be back for sweets again.
