We were out in Whittier for an event and needed a place to get some grub after and The 6740 seemed to tick all the boxes so in we went. First off the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We were greeted, seated and tended to pretty quickly. The pub has plenty of tables and also 2 bar areas. Pretty impressive considering the size but it didn't feel claustrophobic in the least. I picked this place because it has vegan options and wine so I ordered a vegan burger, fries and of course wine. I really appreciated when I gave my order that the server asked if I was vegan and made some sauce recommendations. Order can pretty quickly and my burger was so good. I think they use Beyond if I'm not mistaken and they offer vegan cheese. Wine hit the spot. The fries tasted a bit off. Not sure if it was the oil or what exactly. But the reason for the 3 stars is both my husband and I had stomach issues later that night. Nothing serious...just more like something didn't agree with us. The only item we both had were the fries. I'd still go back but maybe order a different side. There's street and garage parking which is always a huge plus.

If the goal here was to create a fun neighborhood hang out - goal accomplished! The 6740 is a casual, fun, friendly, relaxing restaurant/bar. The kind of place you want to meet your friends at. Booths and tables up front and a bar in the back. They have a wide selection of beer on tap, sports playing on TVs, local art work, fun music. Our server was very friendly and helpful. I tried Los Angeles Ale Works El Ray on tap, a cauliflower taco and a fish taco. The tacos were good. Both taco flavors were very similar. They are both beer battered and have the same toppings. . Another person in our group ordered the rice and beans. They really liked the flavor and spiciest of the beans. We also tried the vegan menudo, spicy and good Nice to see they are environmentally responsible and do not serve your food on plastics. They use reusable plates, glasses, cutlery, even have compostable straws.

We were waiting for the restaurant to open up next-door and decided to pop in and have a drink. It felt like we were walking into a boys club. Maybe it was we'll never know . The vibe is definitely all the cool guys in Whittier. I did see that they have their own rugby team. Which made me feel even more than it was a boys club. By the time we walked out out of the establishment one lady did walk in . We definitely didn't mind being surrounded by men. Regardless we liked it ! five stars

Great place to stop by and have an ice cold drink in uptown Whittier. This place has been around for over 20 years and is always a staple when in the uptown area. Great quick service from the staff. Come by and a drink while watching a game or catching up with friends

Cauliflower bites pair well with a nice Bodega IPA.

My love for this small Bar started less than 2 years ago, when i first tried the Castellum blueberry pineapple Cider, making it one of my fave Bars.. Mike takes good care of his customers! cauliflower bites are real good with the carrot sticks, lightly battered and pair well with a delicious Bodega IPA.. Always good draft here!

Pretty laidback sports bar. Good beers on tap during the evening as well. Been coming here since 2012

Fish + Chips ($18.50)

My colleagues and I met at The 6740 around noon on a Saturday. It's located in Downtown Whittier, where there are several free parking structures. We called ahead days prior to ask if they could accommodate a large party. When we arrived on the day of, seating was already arranged for us outside and our orders were taken right away. The lady who helped us was very nice and informative about their menu. I ordered the Fish + Chips ($18.50) which I absolutely loved. The batter was crisp, the fish was juicy, and the plate was packed with fries! Even though fish and chips is a pretty common dish, I found myself thinking about and craving this one for weeks after I had it. It's rare that I am in the area, but I hope I get to have their fish and chips again some time.

Its a mix of sauces. Buffalo and teriyaki.

Do they have live music? (Bands)

They do not... digital jukebox or satellite radio

Some places sit in the back of your mind for years…read more I first came to Macallan Public House more than a decade ago on a date and always intended to return. Life happened, years passed, and somehow I never made it back. Fast forward to today: I was driving my Tesla, jokingly asked Grok to take me somewhere for a beer, and it pointed me right back here. Walking in felt like revisiting a place that had been quietly waiting in the background of my story. The centerpiece is still the incredible bar. Shelves stacked floor to ceiling with whiskey bottles, glowing green tile behind the taps, warm lighting, and enough character that you can spend half your time simply looking around. It's the kind of room that feels both energetic and comfortable at the same time. I grabbed a seat at the bar, watched a soccer match on the TVs, and ordered an Old Fashioned. It arrived exactly the way I hoped it would: large clear ice cube, generous orange peel, balanced and smooth without trying too hard. Just a well-made classic cocktail. What stood out most was the atmosphere. These days I'm much more likely to be exploring hiking trails, photographing wildflowers, or driving mountain roads than spending time in bars. Twelve years ago, places like this were a much more regular part of my life. Coming back reminded me why I enjoyed them in the first place. Good conversation, a comfortable seat, a quality drink, and no rush to be anywhere else. The beer taps looked extensive, the whiskey selection seemed endless, and the entire place struck a balance between neighborhood pub and whiskey destination. Funny how a random AI navigation suggestion brought me back to a place I'd been meaning to revisit for over a decade. Glad it finally did. 5 stars.

Our server, Devin was pretty good despite the place was packed and he had alot of tables to wait on. My food came out pretty quick and he did check up on our table from time to time which is awesome. Never had an issue here service wise. Wednesday nights are always a fun night here with food, singing, and dancing!

There is two sections the front and back, the front is where you dine in or sit at the bar, the back is where folks play board games, not my thing but looks fun. We sat down and were greeted quickly. The waiter was very attentive and gave recommendations ect., they have a monthly special based on a fun character. There are tvs playing game streams (not sports). I ordered a smash burger w/ sweet potato tots. The smash burger came with two patty's, lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese and the tots came with a unique smoky flavored sauce, it was surprisingly delicious and executed perfect. I really enjoyed the meal and the price was very fair. Not your regular spots bar, it's a gammer bar restaurant with delicious food, recommended if you're a local who wants great food in a quiet ambience without all the screaming and yelling a sports bar gives.

I'm honestly very disappointed…read more We ordered delivery from what used to be one of our favorite local restaurants. Three years ago, we dined here and had an amazing experience, which is why we were excited to order again. Unfortunately, this meal was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had. I ordered the pork ribs and fried shrimp. The ribs were extremely dry--so dry that they tasted like they had been cooked days earlier and reheated multiple times. They were nothing like the ribs I remembered from previous visits. After just a few bites, I started feeling uncomfortable. The fried shrimp was equally disappointing. It had almost no flavor at all and tasted bland and uninspired. My husband ordered the burger, which was advertised as a blend of Wagyu and regular beef. We were expecting something special, but the patty lacked flavor and the quality was disappointing. What surprised us even more was that we live only five minutes away, yet the burger bun arrived completely soggy. The packaging was also poor. The food came in cheap plastic containers without any ventilation holes. For fried foods especially, proper packaging is important to prevent steam from ruining the texture. It felt like very little care was put into preparing the order for delivery. To make matters worse, both my husband and I experienced stomach discomfort and excessive gas afterward, and we were still feeling it the next day. What makes this experience especially disappointing is that this was my husband's birthday dinner. I chose this restaurant because of the wonderful memories we had here years ago, but the food quality was nowhere near what we remembered. I genuinely cannot understand how food of this quality was considered acceptable to send out to customers. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I felt compelled to share it. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes a closer look at its food quality and delivery standards.

It's not a far departure…read morefrom foods of other cultures around the locality, but you'll notice differences between British and American English, for example. Many of their dishes include chips, which during my visit, resembled steak fries due to their thickness. You'll also see that curry is a signature dish in the menu, which reflects how Anglo-Indian cuisine has maintained popular influence in the United Kingdom. I ordered Cutty Sark's curry with chicken, rice, and chips at medium spice. The name is derived from a British merchant vessel that operated during the late 1800s. The curry had a mix of savory and sweet flavors, which reminded me of both Japanese and Indian cuisines at the same time. I couldn't say with certainty that the curry fit into just one cuisine. Packed with some heat and bold in spice, it's a delightful and large dish if you desire a lot of flavor. Where the curry went a little off course was the addition of celery. The petiole is strongly flavored and distracts from the curry in my perhaps controversial opinion. Curry seems to better mix with potatoes and carrots. I tried some of the bacon sarnie as well. The word "sarnie" is an affectionate diminutive for "sandwich." American bacon usually comes from pork belly, which provides a flavorful yet oily crispiness. However, the British variant usually comes from the loin, which is meatier and leaner. I thought of the bacon here as similar to a savory ham. The sarnie bread is fried in fat to emphasize buttery flavor. The restaurant, filled with English decorations, has the style of a cozy and dim pub. There's a good amount of small wooden booths with cracked leather seating. Our server was really nice and made sure we got everything we needed despite the busyness of the restaurant. For example, my curry came with a chutney, and I had asked for a lid to take it home. While I forgot to take the chutney home, she went outside as she noticed that we took the back exit to look at their double-decker bus. She even offered to take a picture of us. The service deserves a lot of kudos, and we were grateful for her consideration.

After burning a few calories, we were more than ready to put them all right back. Upon entering, we stood at the front for about a minute before being acknowledged and shown to a booth. Not exactly a dramatic wait, but just enough time for me to start wondering whether we'd accidentally wandered into a museum exhibit instead of a restaurant. And honestly, that wouldn't have been the worst thing. The décor here is fantastic. While waiting, I found myself admiring all the details and soaking in the atmosphere. It genuinely felt like we'd stepped into another country without the hassle of passports, customs, or a 10-hour flight. Having never been to a British pub before, I was excited to experience something different. We were seated in a cozy leather booth that looked straight out of a vintage European train car. "Cozy" is definitely the operative word here. If you're dining with someone, prepare for the possibility of an accidental knee-to-knee alliance. It wasn't an issue for us, but taller guests might find themselves wishing for just a few more inches of legroom. For our meals, I went with one of their signature dishes, the fish and chips, while my girlfriend ordered the seafood platter. Looking to start things off properly, we asked our server for an appetizer recommendation. He suggested the chips with curry sauce, which sounded great at the time. What we didn't realize was that our entrées were already arriving with enough fries to sustain a small village. When the food landed, we suddenly found ourselves in possession of what felt like the restaurant's entire potato inventory. The curry sauce itself was tasty, but in hindsight, something like the garlic mushrooms or vegetarian samosas might have given us a little more variety. I ordered the two-piece cod fish and chips, which came with a mountain of steak fries and a tiny scoop of coleslaw that looked like it had wandered onto the plate by mistake. The fish was good, but the portion was impressively hearty. I made it about halfway through before my body politely informed me that further eating would require a nap. The curry sauce was enjoyable, though not quite the life-changing experience I'd secretly hoped for. The real MVP was our server, who remained friendly and attentive throughout the meal despite looking like he was covering half the restaurant by himself. He checked in regularly and did a great job taking care of us. Overall, the atmosphere was the highlight of the visit. Between the immersive décor, cozy pub vibes, and generous portions, it was a fun and memorable experience. Just be warned: if you order fries as an appetizer, make sure you're prepared to commit to a serious relationship with potatoes.
