Don't ever try to order take out from here. You have a better chance of seeing Jesus than you do getting a take out order of steak tips.

Went here because I live across the street and was craving some fish and chips. It was around 9:30pm when we went and the place was pretty packed but we still got a table right away. Drinks were good but let me tell you about the fish and chips. This may have well been the best fried haddock I've ever had! So white and flaky and juicy as well! It's like the chef new exactly the right time down to the second to cook the haddock. It was amazing!! I'll say it again the haddock was AMAZING. 3 stars only because 1) this portion was beyond disappointing; I was giving 1 small piece that looked like it was for a sandwich, not a dinner entree, and just that 1 piece. It probably weighed 4 oz so I was pretty confused and disappointed for the price of the plate. 2) the 2 guys sitting behind us were so vulgar and inappropriate it made us want to eat and run out the door. Talking about grabbing women's breasts and other objectifying statements that I found extremely inappropriate to be saying at a restaurant especially as loud as he was being. With that no employee felt the same and said nothing to them to be respectful of the other guests. Maybe my fault for not pushing them to. Portions and rude men aside. The haddock is amazing!! Probably will just order to go next time but will go back and recommend to friends! read more

EXTREMELY disappointed in our first ever clambake - at Best Western Adams Inn Pub in Quincy.... it was one of the things we came to Boston to do, and clearly we should have gone elsewhere. Came without the cornbread that was on the menu - and the steamer(s) that they waitress dropped on the floor on the way over ... no biggie... but what it did not come without was a beach full of sand. I do understand that SOME grit does occasionally find its way into clams/mussels/etc... but to serve a meal where every shell is COATED with sand? Maybe it's that I'm Canadian, eh ...? But surely at least running them under water for a second or two is not just a Canadian thing? In any case, I did mention it to the waitress - her response was to return shortly afterward and - without even acknowledging the complaint - put the bill on the table and walk away. The (free) breakfasts we have had with our hotel stay have been fine; we did enjoy the lobster that came with the clambake; the atmosphere (until you complain and the server doesn't like you any more) is great; love the deck... but would never bother to pay money to eat here again, nor recommend it to anyone else. read more

Read reviews and thought it may be good, but sadly I was wrong. There were open tables and I waited to be seated by the hostess sign. After waiting I asked a waitress to be seated and was ignored, next I was informed to seat my self by another staff member that just pointed to the deck and then went to talk to another waitress- I was surprised at her arrogance. I saw an open table and went and seated myself, as informed, then I was informed that it was reserved. If you are into mismanagement and surely self important waitress- you will enjoy the view. But if you value service and nice respectable staff find some where else, may be Venice's in Dorchester in Port Norfolk- beautiful view; or Legal Sea Food in Braintree, by the movies; or finally Serios at Marina Bay, in Quincy. All places are managed well and love their customers. Sorry Marriott- just do better! read more

Please Read, It could mean your family's safety! I went there on a Friday evening with my 3 year old daughter. I figured since mom went out, I did not feel like cooking and the food was good there in the past. We had the Quahog's and Steak Tips with rice pilaf. The Quahogs was good, tasty with big chunks of clams throughout, maybe just a bit too doughy. The Steak Tips was tasty with good amount of marinade. But I think I've had better from there in the past. Too bad they don't have the Prime Rib dinner anymore. The Rice Pilaf was dry and so hard that It could break a tooth. The problem was when I was leaving I had to take my 3 year old daughter to the bathroom after dinner since she drank an O.J. and water. Next to the Men's room there was a handicapped room marked with a female symbol. I did not think it was a poorly marked family room and took my daughter into the men's room. Inside there was an employee cook named Brian(bearded & bald, looking like he's out on parole) washing his hands. I took my daughter into a stall and closed the door. Apparently Brian took serious offence to having a female in the men's room(even a 3 year old?! Probably a baby too!). He yelled at us "Real smart stupid Jerk bringing a girl in to a men's bathroom!!!". I jokingly stated if there was another way, I would. Brian in his all knowing Neanderthal wisdom(My apologies for insulting the Neanderthal) yelled again, "Stupid Jerk!! bringing a girl into the men's room!! Use your head!!". At that point I could see my daughter was getting confused and scared. As a father you try to protect your kids from assholes like this. I responded by telling this idiot to get the hell out!! Brainiac Brian charged up to the stall with a threat "Hey!! I'll Snap your Fucking Neck!!". And as he left I saw him walk right by the manager (Steve Sechy) still yelling "Stupid Jerk!! bringing a girl into the mens room!!!). I was absolutely Incredulous. Where do they hire these people? Does this guy even think before inserting hoof into his mouth. Would it have worked if I took her into the ladies room!? I immediately spoke the manager(Steve Sechy). He discussed it with Brian (probably with stick figures), and said Brian offers his apologies. This is not enough. This animal should not be allowed to interact with the public. I left Emails and phone message to manager Steve Sechy. I got no response at all. As a parent I think this is absolutely in excusable. Inside the stall I really had the impression that he was going to attack us. Can you imagine fighting with this Mental Giant with my 3 year daughter in the stall!!?? This guy is a thug, no more or less. If he is willing put a 3 year old in danger. What is he not willing to do?? Would you trust him with your food? This would be a fun place to sit on the patio and have dinner. The food is great. The only draw back is they allow smoking on the patio. If you are a non smoker...DO NOT GO HERE. They won't separate the smokers from the non smokers and the smoker here don't care if they blow right on you while you eat your dinner. I spoke to the Manager, he told me the city of Quincy allows smoking in open air restaurants. Good place, great food, it's just to bad they allow smoking. read more

We were contemplating having dinner in Boston and looking for an outdoor space that would be good for a group. So glad we made the quick drive to Quincy instead! There is an indoor as well as an outdoor space. We sat outdoors, watched the sunset while sipping our drinks and having the delicious food. There is also a ramp for strollers and wheelchairs. They were also very sensitive to dietary constraints/allergies. Above all, the service is impeccable. They seem to have a gazebo out in the water too and we could have walked up there but were so comfortable in our lounge chairs watching the sunset, we couldn't move :) Highly recommend. read more

After eating/drinking here a few times, I have come away pretty impressed. This place is a hidden gem of sorts in North Quincy. Tucked into the hotel that sits on the Neponset River and requires or loop to get to, it's not exactly in a prime location. The food here is pretty good. The menu is nothing out of the ordinary, but the food is good for the most part. It's not on the level of a 5 star restaurant, but it's certainly a step above a chain too. I like the food and don't consider myself to be too picky of a person. Prices are reasonable which is a big plus. The outdoor deck is great. You're right on the water and there's plenty of seats. As far as the smoke goes, it never was a problem for me and I am not a smoker, nor do I care or cigarette smoke. I was surprised at some of the other comments made in other reviews. It's an open air deck and the smoke is not being held in the area by anything. So as far I could tell, the smoke was a non-issue. This is a very solid spot to go and grab dinner and/or a drink on the water when the weather is nice. Not as crowded as Marina Bay, or the South Boston Waterfront and the quality is there. read more

more like 3.5 stars. i hate to give a three star rating because it's perceived as low, but what i really mean is that it was average. no big complaints, but i wouldn't go out of my way to return. J and i had dinner here tonight, as we're staying at the hotel this week and i kept seeing the menu and a few things caught my eye. we were told we could sit anywhere, and chose the corner of the empty dining room. (what can i say, we're not really people persons when sober.) but there's also seating at and around the bar in the next room, or outdoors. i should have gone with my gut and just got the clam strips plate, but instead i got the fisherman's platter as i also wanted fish & chips, which is what J got. both came with cole slaw, tartar sauce, and a whole mess of fries. the fries were actually really good, and i don't generally care for steak fries. i also really enjoyed the clams. not the best i've ever had but i'd happily eat them again - tender, fried well, flavorful. the scallops were okay, but i'm not much of a scallops person to begin with. i ate a couple and gave the rest to J who liked them. the fish...ugh. i really did not like it. the batter is probably a personal preference - i like the thick and puffy kind a la beer battered foods or chicken fingers you'd get from an american chinese joint, and this wasn't it. but the fish inside was really overdone, a thin portion that was dry and flaked into a thousand tiny bits when you cut into it. blech. i've had better from my grocer's freezer section. heh, "grocer." who the fuck do i think i am? anyway, the waitress was friendly, the place was clean, and i got a blue moon for $4 (and other liquor/beer was similarly cheap-avg price). alas, it seems august is already too late for sam summer and they're already onto octoberfest for the seasonal draught. bonus or beware, foursquare peeps seem to think this is a great place for day drinking. read more

Im new to the area so tried the Quincy Adams Inn pub for fried clams as recommended by the bar tender. They are awesome!!!! Ive been back 5 times now for the clam roll and clam dinner. This is the place that you can see from the highways with the big "Adams Inn" sign. Don't be afraid to try this place out due to it's being underneath the Neponsit Bridge. We were glad we gave it a try. I was really surprised once we parked and walked inside. You get there by walking into the hotel and it actually looked pretty decent in there. There was lots of activity with people checking in and such. We headed over to the pub and chose to sit outside Although it's with next to the bridge, it's a really pretty view of the river and surprisingly relaxing. The menu is fairly small with some apps, sandwiches and a couple entrees. I chose the surf and turf which was steak tips and lobster tail with french fries. The steak tips (which they call "famous") were fairly good but they gave me such a small portion (2 1/2 tips) that it was hard to really judge them. French fries were not very good. Not seasoned and a little under cooked. Service we encountered was kind of poor. I didn't feel like our waitress was very attentive and there were a few awkward moments like when she was confused by us ordering a frozen margarita instead of on the rocks... Be prepared for lots of mosquitos if you're there at night. That's not a knock on the pub at all as they can't control it, just be prepared. They gave me bug spray when I asked which I was super grateful for. Only other thing that brings it down for me, they allow people to smoke at their tables. I know we are outside on the deck but I'm not a fan of the person at the table 2 feet to the right of me smoking a cigarette while I'm eating. I don't think that's fair. There should be a separate smoking section outside. We will back for drinks and the view. I'm glad we gave the place a try. read more

Food was not good at all. At all. I don't really leave reviews but this place? Oof. The food was just deep fried cardboard - NO flavor. Tried to salt it but the salt at the table was rock hard, so I just didn't eat the rest. Not a picky eater either. Secondly, we ordered drinks and 1. Price wasn't shown, which I never like and 2. it was really just juice - I'm honestly not sure if there was even any alcohol in it, which seemed odd considering it's a pub. Ended up being $9 for one drink, which is ridiculous for what we got. Love the hotel it's connected to but absolutely not going back to this pub again. read more

Went there back in November (I'm aware I'm late) and there were four of us. We shared a seafood platter as we anticipated a big enough portion worthy of sharing. Compared to the prices in my home country, Singapore, this was VERY worth it. Especially the lobster. I ordered the clam chowder myself, and it was like heaven for my tastebuds. We stayed at the Adams Inn for a week and would rather eat here than go out, it's that good! The menu choices are varied enough for any palate and the chef is the best. We were not disappointed in anything we tried. The staff is wonderful and if the weather is good there are two comfortable decks to enjoy. Do not miss their fries: crispy, not greasy and so good! Came to Adams pub after a long hard day at work. Was extremely stressed and our server Bridget made coming here worth the while. She had such a cheery, upbeat attitude and provided amazing service. Came here two years ago for drinks on the patio for my friends birthday and that was a great experience. Decided to give it another try for dinner with my boyfriend. We wanted to sit outside but were told it was an hour or longer wait. We decided to just have dinner inside and maybe some drinks on the patio after. Our waitress came over and she was not friendly at all. I'm not sure if they were understaffed but she seemed extremely irritated and flustered. She took our drink and appetizer order and came back with the drinks. We got our appetizer and I thought she would have asked if we were ready to order our meals but she walked away and we did not see her for at least a half hour afterward. I am pretty sure she forgot about us. Finally she came over to ask how we were doing and we told her we wanted to order our meal. Again, she appeared irritated and did not say a word just pulled out her notebook. We waited a while for our food to come out and all she said was "sorry for kind of a long wait". Kind of? The food itself was very good. I had the lobster mac and cheese - a ton of lobster in it. My boyfriend got the haddock sandwich but was upset that the menu didn't mention that it came with hollandaise sauce on it - he's not a big fan of it. Overall, while the food was good I don't think we will return because we have never experienced worse service. read more

Went for lunch. They have great sweet potato fries and a really good chicken pesto sandwich "The Northender." Service was kind of slow considering the place was pretty dead, they only had one beer on tap, and the nachos were something I could have thrown together in my kitchen. read more

First visit to the Adams Pub as I was in town on business for two nights and staying at Best Western. The first night I had the pecan crusted haddock with broccoli and rice pilaf, wonderful. I'm quite sure the rice was from a package since it looks like packaged rice from the store, but after a long day of traveling it was all yummy to me. Sat on the deck and watched the sun set over the river. Great view. The service was extraordinarily slow, 45 minutes. (Not busy.) I struggled to not finish my wine before dinner arrived. Waitress Jacki was very pleasant. My second night at Adams Pub I ordered the menu-touted clam chowder, which is flavorful and just as good as they said it was. The appetizer quesadillas were a whole meal and I highly recommend. The service was perfectly awful. When I arrived I seated myself since there was no one to greet me and no courtesy sign saying to either wait or to seat yourself. I sat near the wait station (with their computer) and also near the entry...a very busy spot. I must have waited 5 minutes to be acknowledged. (Not busy.). Two men walked in and sat across the aisle from me, with their menus handed to them immediately. Wait staff walked past me six times (and that was after I started counting) as I watched them go by. Finally a waiter decided that I was a paying customer and handed me a menu with a smile. The waitress Leah eventually decided to introduce herself to me, as she apparently decided to notice me after her several trips to and from the Wait Station. The food came after about 20-25 minutes. I suppose that disrespectful service is easy to dish out when you're the only game in town. The Adams Pub's only saving grace is the chefs who are behind the scenes and showing respect to their customers by preparing excellent fare. This weary traveler thanks you. read more
