AC started blowing warm air. Ok. Let's look at Yelp. Talked to Frank over the phone, easy guy to talk to. Not some a-hole middle eastern guy that immediately starts an argument with you. But like everyone, they all want more than $50 dollars to travel to your location for a free inspection. I avoided what would have been a $500 dollar repair by watching YouTube and disconnecting the power, and replacing the run/start capacitor I purchased at Grainger for $7 (that's right, seven dollars!) and threw the switch and the compressor and fan were back in business full speed and ice cold air was flowing in the house. I understand that there is potential to get hurt with electricity etc. but you can also get hurt filling up your car at the gas station. You can save a bunch of money by fixing it yourself. Seven dollars for a capacitor when your AC guy will charge hundreds to replace it in 2 minutes. Do the math. That should shed some light on how profitable this business is for these guys. read more

Let me tell you a story about a hero named Frank. We had a huge party planned for Saturday, I mean epic party. This was the kind of party songs will be sung about for many generations. We had food arranged, kegs chilling, bouncy house bouncing, playlists set, decorations mounted...then the air conditioner goes out on Friday at 8 PM. I contacted 7 different a/c repair companies that night. I couldn't reach anyone and despair set in. So I drank a few beers and wallowed in the 98 F misery. Frank called me within 2 hours and set up a morning service call. My a/c was fixed and improved for a reasonable price 3 hours before any guests arrived. Frank didn't wear a cape that day, but maybe he should. Not one other company contacted me until the following Tuesday. Don't mess around, call these guys. read more

Here I am, one year later, to tell you about the fantastic job Manny did. Normally I only come here to write negative comments, which restaurants gave me food poisoning, etc. But I'm here to write a positive comment, so that should say something. I called up Manny, last year, in the throes of a heat wave (or at least there was a heat wave in my house), and he came out within a week (he's a busy guy... but that's a good problem to have), put on a space suit, took a dive under my house (which no other A/C people did), crawled around in my attic, and gave me an estimate in a couple of days. This was for a new install of air conditioning, which, for some reason, not a lot of people are doing lately? I got an estimate from Home Depot, too. He came in about 20% cheaper than Home Depot, and he did more, gave me better products, and seemed to care about my concerns. To Home Depot, I was just another number/face/etc. I told Manny that I had bad allergies, so he took that into consideration and gave hooked me up with a mondo-thick-hepa-air-filter. While he was doing the install he had great respect for my home, and made very little mess, and if he did, he cleaned it up. My old install was a heating system with no cooling. Something about it was all wrong as it was sucking up dirt from under the house. Not good! There was some sort of black/metallic dust that was pouring out of my vents. My girlfriend and I would sweep/mop weekly, and still walk around with black-bottomed feet! Gross! After pulling out the ducts and putting in good newer ducts, we have not had that problem. No more black feet! I can only imagine what we were breathing in... He took the time to educate me about heating and cooling, and hot air removal, which was nice to know. I have a monster A/C and I can barely tell it is on while I'm in the house, other than the fact that I get colder. I love being cold, and my house can certainly get cold these days, thanks to Manny. In the winter when it gets cold and I turn on the heat (Rarely, usually when it's in the 40s outside, because me and my g/f LOVE to be cold), the house heats up pretty quickly. Upon entering the house, the air doesn't feel stale or musty, and has a decent smell to it. Something that didn't happen with my old system, smelled old and stale. He suggested things that I can do to save money on heating and cooling (fix gap between doors), for instance. TL;DR Some people are A/C installers, Manny is an artist. Pros: - Good work ethic - Friendly - Clean - Respects your home - Active in the autism community - Got happy when he was done with his beautiful install - Does good work, plans out airflow before doing work Cons: - Didn't repair drywall from my old bad furnace install, but I'm not upset, he's "The Airconditioning Guy" not "The Drywall Guy" - Hard to get ahold of because he's very busy working read more

These guys are very skilled at solving problems and not charging an arm and a leg! After 2 other AC companies quoted me 600$ + worth of labor to troubleshoot and flush out my system, and possibly replace the system, these guys came in and solved it in 1 hour, without replacing anything. They are very honest and have superior skills. At the end of the day, I spent 393$ with 3 different AC repair companies, but had I gone here the first place, it would have been under 150$. How interesting - Manny must have been come to my place right after Bill H's! I will also wholeheartedly recommend Manny Valdovinos (The Air Conditioning Guy). I called and emailed Manny this morning for a heater problem. He responded promptly by returning my call and emailing me back, and he was able to schedule me in the same day. He arrived promptly on time and was able to diagnose my heater problem as a shorted wire. He came inside and checked my thermostat which was the problem. He then gave me the option of getting a new thermostat (which I had been meaning to do anyways), so I went ahead and had him install a new one. ***He was not pushy one bit. I did not feel at all like he was trying to oversell me goods I didn't need, which I very much appreciate.*** After installing and testing the thermostat, he also noticed some cracks in the duct sealant, which he then reapplied for me as well. All in all, a very excellent job! Also, I want to second Bill H's observation that Manny put on shoe covers upon entering my home. He had to go in and out of the house a few times, and he took the shoe covers on and off each time. I've had some contractors put them on, but wear them in and out, which defeats the purpose of them. So I very much appreciated that. Manny's pricing is very competitive and fair. Again, he never tried to oversell me on something I didn't need. He was very personable and friendly and most importantly, professional. It's also his attention to detail, as exemplified by the duct sealant and shoe covers, which impressed me most. I contacted The Air Conditioning Guy and spoke to a person name Frank. He then arranged the service appointment for 8/26. Technician made a courtesy call that they are on their way to the location and they came as promised. I found this company on yelp cuz they have excellent review from their customers. Carlos and Robert came to troubleshoot the problem with my AC unit. My AC unit stopped working all of suddenly and did not know the cause of the problem. Carlos assured me he would identify and repair the problem. They were here for several hours and finally determined the cause of AC Unit was coming from the electrical wiring. They were able to fix the problem and the AC Unit started working again. Carlos also recommended me that my unit was old and I should have it chemical washed and replaced the dual run capacitor. Initially, my concern was a budget and how much I would need to repair and maintenance the unit since it was never done. I decided to take up their recommendation cuz they were already here at the premise. Carlos broke down the cost of different service and provided me with additional discounts. I also talked to Frank who is very professional and courteous. He would do what he can to earn my business and we agreed with the price. I also want to say that they also brought their own protective sleeve for their shoes so that they would keep the carpet cleaning while going back and forth. Besides, it was a very hot day and they were working very hard. I was glad the AC unit started working and they also checked my heater to make sure. After they have left, I started to notice the fan inside of AC unit was making cracking sounds whenever i turn on and off. The sound was very loud to the point i felt like the AC unit was able to fall apart. I then called the company the following day and spoke to Frank. He immediately showed on at my location within 30 minutes after the phone call. I would have to say that was expedited service. He then showed up with Robert to troubleshoot the cause of cranking sound. It appears the sound was caused my the fan belt was scratching the outside surface. As a result, Frank was able to lower or move the height of fan so that the cracking sound would stop. He then fix that problem within the short timeframe. He also offered me a recommendation to possibly replace the fan motor. I then thanked him for that recommendation cuz I was tight on budget and perhaps it would be something I would need to consider in the near future. Overall, I gave them 5 star service because they followed through with quality of work PLUS after service to fix the cranking sounds from the fan. I have to say they are professional and courteous. Without being requested, he had already prepared and used shoe cover upon entering my house, and took them off while walking out to make sure my house stays clean. This is a BIG PLUS as some vendors I'd worked with in the past simply refuse to wear one citing insurance as an excuse, so I just have to show them the door. We also appreciated that they advised against putting the giant AC unit on our roof, which other companies had said would be fine, but that we didn't think our roof could sustain. Manny rocks! Everything the reviews say are true. He showed up on time and was able to repair decades-old wall heaters/furnaces in 2 of my units. One was a breeze for him, but I wouldn't have believed what he had to go through with the other if I wasn't there to witness it. After removing old parts that were clogged/not working and irreplaceable due to the age, he also found a birds nest with eggs in it.
