(4.25 STARS)…read more Memorial Day road trips always seem to create the best random discoveries, and Pit Stop Bar & Grill absolutely delivered. Tucked away off Victor Street in Barstow, this was a fun find while driving back to Los Angeles from Vegas over Memorial Day weekend. Big props to Haley M., who was basically running a one-woman show and somehow kept the entire place moving with a great attitude and solid service. That alone made the stop memorable. The location has a cool, laid-back vibe with plenty to keep people entertained while grabbing food and drinks. They've got two billiards tables, a dart board, and all kinds of classic bar games, board games, and card games, including UNO, which is a family favorite. They also have several televisions. The food was all good too. I really enjoyed the Green Chili Burger, and everyone else in my party seemed genuinely happy with their meals as well. I felt they were trying to nickel and dime when I got the bill, i was charged for a side of ranch, a side of BBQ, and had no idea I was being up charged for the onion rings. I didn't say a word, but it hit wrong with me. .75 points deducted. What especially stood out to me, though, was the Memorial Day place setting displayed near the front entrance honoring our veterans and fallen heroes. It was simple, respectful, and genuinely touching. See my picture. That detail said a lot about the heart behind this place. If you're making the Vegas-to-LA drive and want something more memorable than the usual freeway fast-food stop, this place is definitely worth checking out. Great atmosphere, friendly energy, and one of those spots you end up talking about later.

We ate both dinner and breakfast the next morning and both were great. Burgers very fresh and fries hot and crispy. And I always love it when a restaurant offers chicken and waffles. The decor is very eclectic. Ceiling covered with ball caps (Literally hundreds of them). It's definitely a classic local dive. The land out back where Harvest Host guests stay is very roomy. There were 5-6 other people there at the same time as us and we were not close together at all. It was also very quiet. So glad we stumbled upon them!

It had been about 9 years since I've been here, but nothing's changed. It's very nostalgic, the food is great and the service is fast even though it gets really crowded around lunch. My wife had a cheeseburger with no onions and I had the chicken sandwich with no onions both were excellent. The ambience is unbelievable. It's reminiscent of an Old Ranch feed House. Cut this place is definitely for people that ride motorcycles or dune buggies or quads. I had been coming to this place on and off for over 48 years. As you might expect it's a little on the pricey side however you have to remember that you are in the middle of the desert, literally. When my friend from Japan came last year, he wanted to go out there that's how famous this place is. Try it if you get a chance, you won't regret it. They open around 8:00 on Saturday and they are only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I forgot to mention, this place is great for kids. And they had a live band playing which is fantastic since you have lots of outside seating.

Portions were more than enough for our family of 3. We also tried their red velvet cake and it was delicious. They have seating inside and in a side patio, plus only a handful of seats along the bar. I saw that reviews talked about spotty service but that the food was good so we decided to just brave it. Indeed when we went inside, it took a while for anyone to greet us and seat us, maybe between five to ten minutes. We eventually asked a worker if we can just sit at the bar since we saw some seats open up and we sat there. They have some beers on draft, we got some cali creamin beers which were good. My bf and I ordered the 2 meat combo with brisket and a full rack of ribs - both of those meats being additional charges (+$5 for brisket and $10 for full rack of ribs) because we assume they're the best meats they make here. The waiter even confirmed the brisket is the best and he recommended the ribs as the second meat to get. We got onion rings and fried pickles as our two sides. It took quite a while for it to come out so our appetites really grew. At one point we saw our sides - the onion rings and pickles - ready in front of the pickup window for a WHILE before the meats were ready and before everything was brought over to us. We were bummed bc when we eventually got everything, our sides were cold. Despite being cold, they were probably the best part of the meal and the onion rings especially were tasty. Ok let's talk specifics on the bbq. The brisket was unfortunately super dry and chewy. Sadly the worst brisket either of us has ever had. We couldn't even finish it and didn't even think it was worth finishing. The ribs too, the meat did not fall off the bone like a sign of good ribs. I had to peel them off the bone with my fingers and they were also dry. The ribs were slightly more passable to us than the brisket, but we were pretty shocked and disappointed with both. When our waiter came by, we were honest when he asked how everything was and told him the meats are really dry. We said we weren't sure if that's just how it is here or if they made a mistake in the kitchen. He took it back and brought it back to us shortly after. We were a little confused when we saw our platter, it looked like they just cut up all of our ribs and sauced everything more. After trying both meats, it was clear they just heated up the meat, maybe they just put it in a fryer, and they put extra sauce on each meat. While it was saucier, it didn't mask the fact that the meats were still incredibly dry. All in all, the service is slow, just as the reviews state. But the food too... eek. Definitely a little disappointing that the meats were served so dry and after giving them the opportunity to fix it, they essentially just put a bandaid over the issue by over saucing it.

I've been here quite a bit and I've never had any issues. Robert and Kim do an excellent job making delicious authentic smoked barbecue for an unbeatable price. I was just there yesterday for lunch and everything was amazing. I would usually go for their Loaded Nachos but I decided to go with the #1 my last visit. The #1 is there slow smoked baby back ribs with their house rub. It comes with a roll and a side of your choice. You also get to choose if you want your ribs mild or spicy. The food doesn't take long to come out at all. When my food did come out it looked quite amazing for it coming from a food truck. My basket had a large amount of tender and juicy ribs soaked in their barbecue sauce. There was a huge amount of there seasoned fries which I got as my side. The taste of it all was phenomenal. If you are ever in the area looking for quick delicious smoked barbecue I would definitely recommend you stop by because this food truck is definitely worth it.

My wife liked the tortilla soup, but the spaghetti and meatballs wear subpar. Now I guess, I shouldn't expect good Italian food from basically a sports bar but I'll have to say it just was relatively bland. I ordered the habanero pineapple boneless wings thinking they would be spicy-- they were not. Now I will admit, I've gotten used to hot sauce so maybe that's why they weren't that spicy. I'm not sure if they're supposed to be soft, but the boneless wings were not crispy, maybe the sauce made the better soft. But, I did not like it, I was expecting more crispy. But again, maybe is this is the way that they're served. The ambience is okay it's a sports bar. Kind of small as well but very busy. The service was great. I was greeted within less than 2 minutes from sitting down, and I had multiple servers taking care of my table. So definitely they're not lacking in service. I just think since the last time I went there and this time the quality of food has diminished.
