After a winding drive across the state, we ended up in Flagler Beach, FL. The natives were getting restless, so we figured we better stop for lunch. The girls got chicken tender and wings, while Sandi and I got seafood -- lobster flatbread for her and fried shrimp for me. Great view of the Atlantic Ocean. Our server, Brian, did a great job and was very prompt with menus, drinks and getting our order. Sandi had an awesome bowl of lobster bisque and the calamari was AWESOME! So fresh! I recently stopped at The Anchor after not visiting for a while. It's as great a place as it's always been! As I was dining alone, I sat at the bar. Joell was bartending and made my time there truly wonderful. She is amazing at multi-tasking, making drinks, serving food, and socializing with everyone. It's always great dealing with such an upbeat person. As I used to be more of a regular customer, other employees came over to say hi. Elsa was as friendly as always and a pleasure to talk with. we were a party of five On a Friday night. there was a big party of 15 people seated in this beautifully blue, colorful calming restaurant. As I walked by gleaming plates of food, I appreciated the detail that the chef created. As it became much busier, everything was managed smoothly, the food, abundant, and the temperature was delightful especially on a 93° day. The beachfront fans were cooling while tables were filled. The atmosphere is amazing. Food was delicious! The stuffed flounder and the fish tacos were outstanding! The owners and the staff make it look easy, but their hard work and tenacity tonight was exceptional experience for my table of five! We will be back! read more

Service: The service was perfect, nothing wrong with it, we also got to see the cook and we were able to thank him for the amazing food. Our appetizers came almost instantly and our food came shortly after. The service was excellent, better than a lot of restaurants, and I would definitely come here again. Food: Now for the food, starting with the 3 appetizers I got. I got motserella sticks and calamari as I usually get. The motserella sticks were standard and the calamari was better than other places I've been to. I also decided to try raw oysters. They tasted amazing! I say the appetizers were great! For my entree, I got the Blackened Chicken and Bacon Sandwich (I think that's what it's called) It was a sandwich with delicious chicken with a sauce on it, lettuce, Bacon, and tomato. It tasted incredible. I feel like the lettuce had a bit too much texture, but the meal was still amazing! Everyone should definitely go to this excellent family owned sea food place located at the Flagler Beach if you have not already. You can eat amazing food and look at the wonderful beach view. 9/10 (5/5 Stars) P.S. Unfortunately, I did not get dessert or coffee. Tried this place for lunch and couldn't have been more disappointed. The rudest waiter I've ever had -- telling me to smile more and take off my sunglasses when I sent the french fries back as too limp and cold. He lied through his teeth and said they were "made to order." They did provide a new batch of fries which was at least warm and a little crisper but still the worst fries I've ever eaten. Wrong temperature, garbage oil, not sure what the problem was but they were awful. Really the mail waiter was a narcissistic, snotty brat and I can't understand why he's working there. Also the food portions were tiny but the prices sure weren't. Give this place a hard pass. read more

I've had very good meals here, but lately it is hit or miss. Every other visit it's just not good. Tonight we spent $100 before tip for barely edible Buffalo shrimp (we were starving and still couldn't eat the tiny previously frozen, tough shrimp buried in batter - awful). Our entrees were mediocre (we've ordered these before with different results). Even the drinks, cucumber lime martinis, tasted terrible. Maybe it will be good again, maybe it will be greasy yuck like tonight. We won't be playing Russian roulette with our dining dollars to find out. read more

My wife and I knew nothing about Flagler Beach, but we wanted to eat dinner there. We read a few positive reviews about the Anchor restaurant and thought we would give it a try. First thing we noticed was how quaint it was inside. We were instantly greated by our waitress who was very pleasant and fun. For an appetizer we had oysters Rockefeller. All I can say is wow. They we fresh, hot and delicious. For our main courses I had seafood potpie and my wife had a seafood pasta (Americana). Again, fresh , hot and clearly made from scratch. Out meals were delicious. I had an old fashioned, which was made with too much ice. But he St Augustine bourbon was delicious. I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp which didn't have very much crab but the seasoning and sauce were delicious. The loaded baked potato was ok, just a little too much cheese for me. The peanut butter chocolate cake was disappointing. It was too rich and you could tell it was frozen and then thawed. The bartender was great! Extremely average food but I didn't expect much from this place to begin with. We got the stuffed flounder and linguine in garlic butter sauce (without the seafood) and side salads. The side salads were fine but the tomatoes weren't great. The pasta needed lots of salt, pepper and Parmesan to make to good and it was swimming in sauce. The fish was really overcooked and not worth paying extra to have it stuffed. Atmosphere is ok and similar to most beach side places but service was good. read more

I had an unfortunate lunch experience. My beer, an oatmeal porter needed to have the keg changed. It took about 15+ minutes to change. Part way through the wait she came back and offered a Yuengling that was on special. I accepted the substitution but she never delivered it. Eventually the porter arrived. Kitchen was slow. Food arrived well after the above mentioned beer. My order specified not to include specific ingredients that were in the dish delivered to the table, so I sent it back. Eleven minutes later, version 2 arrived. The bottom of the wrap was burnt black. This time I escalated to the manager in the front and later to a more senior manager who was checking tables. The third version was correct, warm and, to their credit, not included on the bill without me asking for an adjustment. The place was crowded and my wife's Po Boy was good, so I have to conclude my experience was not the norm. read more

A great place on the A1A, but really noisy. Service was spot on and the food was a little pricey. I had the seafood platter - fried haddock (1) thin piece of fish / (6) medium shrimp and (2) medium scallops with two sides = $26.95. A nice location with decent decor and fresh fish is undermined by questionable entertainment and indifferent staff. On my first trip I had salmon with zucchini, both were delicious. On my second, a fried haddock with French fried potatoes and coleslaw, the haddock was fresh but the fried crust came off immediately, and the fries were gushy. The coleslaw was entirely average, and lacked flavor. I wish my server would've given me more than two curt words or I may have asked for some condiments. Which brings me to the worst part of the location, wait staff in a morose frenzy, power walking with their heads down, ignoring me (perhaps because I'm not 60+ like most of their guests they decided I wouldn't tip?), and generally being indifferent at best and rude at worst. Even as I pulled into the parking lot for my first trip there, I was immediately asked (rudely) by a worker there "So what happened?!?", having never seen or spoken to her in my life. confused, I reply "what?", and she keeps going on about an order for some time before realizing I had nothing to do with it. No apologies or a simple "have a nice meal", she struts off to the back door. I will not be returning. read more

What a gem. Great atmosphere. Food was really good. Doesn't seem like a place that would have amazing martinis, BUT they did! Waitress was hilarious. We love the food at this place, but their customer service skills need attention. About 2 months ago we called to get reservations at 11 a.m. and was told they could not accomodate a party that large(9 adults & 3 children) and that we would have to come aftet12:00. We get together as a family weekly. When doing lunch we have to go early because of Nap times. We of course chose another restaurant. My wife spoke with the new owner, who never apologized and said she would get back, but of course never did. The next time we just showed up, they reluctantly seated us and the server Ashley explained that she was the only one there until 12. She did an excellent job taking care of us even though she was overwhelmed with other tables. We were there about last Sunday with a party of 6 adults and 3 children and was rudely turned away. The hostess said they couldn't take care of us, even though we were the only ones there, and no one else waiting. I emailed the owner and she implied that it was our fault because we didn't call ahead. Remember we were told previously that they didn't take reservations. My wife and I have been in there a couple of times since and listen to them turn customers away because they didn't have reservations!! My family loves the food at the Anchor, when we can get in. The new owner obviously is not involved in day to day operations. She is using the excuse of not having enough help. I worked in the casual dining restaurant industry as a manager for over 40 years, and have had to wait on tables myself when was short staffed. As a owner she should be there taking up the slack herself, instead of having her staff tell customers that "we can't accomodate you". I don't care how good your food is, if you can't take care of your customers when you open, then don't open when you do. EW!! We ordered whole belly clams for the table and we got 10 clams that were so stinking tiny and just a bunch of batter crumbs on the bottom to make it look like a lot of clams($20). They were ridiculously small. I got the chowder which tasted like Snows and bake stuffed shrimp..there were 8 on the plate as shown in the photos but the shrimp were like small cocktail shrimp that were spread and hidden under stuffing. The shrimp were 1 bit each ($30), 1 ball of stuffing would have covered all the shrimp put together. My husband had the crab cakes which he said had no crab taste whatsoever. The waitress was terrible, she disappeared..we had to yell to get her as she flew by. She forgot to bring our chowders, never got our salads, didn't check to see how we were doing. Someone at our table sent her clams back. This was the worse meal and service I have ever had in my 60 years and worse espresso martini i've ever had! How is this place so busy that you can't get in without a reservation..anyway here comes the worst of it. I started feeling sick about 1 am and by 4 I was up vomiting and had severe diarrhea(sorry, truth needs to be told). This went on for 2 1/2 hours. This place was disgusting and a total waste of $100..right down the toilet(literally). Makes me wonder if the people that have gone once ever go back or is it new tourists passing through that don't know any better...anyway, if you want to risk it..good luck read more

Came here for lunch yesterday - place was somewhat dirty and not well maintained. The tables were dusty and not wiped down. Food was mediocre. I got a salad (only option I had as a vegetarian) which was OK. It was edible but the lettuce was not very fresh. My dad got the french dip which he said was OK - first bite was tough but the rest was fine. My mom really enjoyed the 21 shrimp deal. Not enough sweet potato fries to go with it though. Waitress was very friendly, and checked on us a couple times. However probably would not come back. The place did not really thrill me and the menu options for me were limited. read more
