From the start, I was able to call a week in advance and get information, and when I realized I couldn't book online the day before, they were able to assist and get me in with no problem. Communication was top notch. On top of that, I don't board my dog often because he can be quite nervous around new people and new dogs. However, they were so reassuring the entire time. They sent me an update and a photo in the middle of the day to settle my nerves. When I went to pick him up, he was resting so comfortably next to them. This place was a literal lifesaver for us: the staff once noticed Bams was lethargic with faint yellow gums--a detail so subtle that even Bams vet was impressed they caught it. It turned out to be mild jaundice, which proves that Carlene and her team are true professionals who deeply understand canine health. The front desk experience is always a highlight of our day. The staff--Gabs, Kayla, Daniela, and Enrique--are incredibly sweet, soft-spoken, and remarkably easy to talk to, even during those 6 am drop-offs. Being greeted by Kayla's pup, Yogi, or Carlene's pup, Poppy or Ingrid's pup is truly the best way to start the morning. They're such a joy; all they ever ask for is a little love and some well-deserved tummy scratches! The service is so thoughtful; they know Bams loves fetch but also ensure she gets her necessary quiet breaks after meals. Whether I'm at work or traveling internationally, I have total peace of mind thanks to the multi-angle webcam app and the heartwarming photo updates they send. Boarding is seamless (pro tip: label your food bags!), and the Paw Partner app makes booking a breeze. Kinda the hands off corporate approach since Dog Spot is so big now. My situation of a dropped pre-paid stay package record lost during Dog Spot transition to a new on line app resulted in us not being able to use what we purchased. After 2 weeks of call messages, a visit to Dog Spot to get tbe new Dog Spot app loaded by the on-air Manager, and numerous voice mails to Carlene, the owner, I received an email telling me my pre-pause stay package had expired. My learning- don't buy pre-paid stay packages at Dog Spot. Don't expect the owner to return calls or follow up on customer concerns. She has staff to do that.

The owner, Graham called me to offer boarding for the next two nights at no charge to help us due to the fire. When we brought Sunny in that afternoon, they had already called our vet to verify his vaccinations and he was quickly checked in. The lady who checked him in advised that they would bathe him as well free of charge. I picked him up two days later and he was very happy to go home but we could tell he was well adjusted and well cared for. Thanks again!

They've become like extended family--coming by a couple times a week for midday let-outs and providing overnight care whenever I'm out of town. Over the years, I've been blessed with multiple amazing sitters, all of whom have been professional, kind, and genuinely caring toward my pets. They've done a particularly great job caring for my senior dog, giving her the extra attention and patience she needs to stay comfortable and happy. Two of my dogs require daily medication, and they've always handled it with care, consistency, and attention to detail. Their communication is always excellent. I get regular updates and check-ins, and they've even stepped in on short notice when a family emergency came up--something I'm incredibly grateful for. Knowing that my pups are safe, happy, and in such capable hands gives me real peace of mind. I couldn't recommend Coco & Boo more highly!

She's been a patient for over 3 years now and this review is long overdue. Before finding Fire Mountain, another local vet refused to finish my dog's initial exam and had the front desk staff tell me that we need to see a behavioralist before returning to establish care. That vet had me lift my dog onto the exam table with no help and later left the room frustrated when she reacted to him pressing on her belly . No consult, no helpful recommendations, nothing except a bill. Our first appointment here could not have been more different. Instead of making me feel bad about my dog's behavior, the doctor got down on the floor and approached the full exam with patience and an obvious knowledge of dog body-language and stress signs. We now have a pre-medication routine and the entire staff helps to make each appointment run as smoothly and comfortably as possible. Recently, Dr Andi helped us navigate a mysterious infection that required an ultrasound and lots of testing. I appreciate that she keeps me fully informed at each step, answers my 300 questions, and I know that I can trust her treatment plan or testing recommendations. I could go on for more paragraphs. It's clear that every doctor, vet technician, and staff member truly cares about their patients and my Luna girl is in the best hands even though she is not the easiest to deal with.

I've noticed my dog is terrified of the blonde vet which I think is very off putting because my dog is over friendly. I've even requested to only see the other vet. And then Recently brought my dog in for a lump she has on her stomach where they said they were going to test it for cancer and let us know the results. A few days later I get a call while I'm at work basically telling me they had inclusive results and would have to retest it or she could put her on antibiotics and monitor it..? I told her I would talk to my partner and call back. I called back the next day and asked for the doctor to call me to clarify further. That was two weeks ago and still no call back after following up and even going into the office. I have an appt on Thursday for a different reason and they called me to tell me she will just talk to me then because "the vet hasn't been able to make the time to call me back" so basically sounds like they messed up her cytology test. When asked, the receptionist stated that test isn't always accurate, so why was it suggested? I have now canceled my Thursday appt and will update my review based on my conversation I have with the vet , if she ever "finds time" to call back. The lack of urgency and unprofessionalism is astounding

She even took the time to engage in short text message conversations with us throughout our trip. When we came home, we were pleasantly surprised to see that she had cleaned up and organized all their toys and even swept up the excess litter around their litter boxes! Honestly, we never clean up their toys or sweep up around their litter boxes, so that was a very nice touch! She really has a way with animals, and even our grouchy, antisocial male cat was full of purrs and affection for her when she came by to return our keys. I can't think of a more kind and trustworthy person to care for our loved ones, and not only will I call her again when we take our next trip, but I'll recommend her to everyone else we know!

From the moment we arrived until we left, the care we received was exceptional. Dr. Campbell was incredible. I had a lot of questions and concerns, and not once did she make me feel rushed, dismissed, or like I was being difficult. She would sit down with me, explain what she was seeing, what our options were, and why she was recommending what she was recommending. She was patient, thorough, articulate, and confident without ever being condescending. I was having an extremely difficult time with the decision to put Remi through surgery, and she gave me the information I needed without ever pressuring me. I remember telling my wife that if Remi had to have surgery, I was incredibly grateful Dr. Campbell was the one taking care of her. The surgery went extremely well. Dr. Campbell found and removed the obstruction, and thankfully Remi's intestines were healthy. Afterward, she took the time to explain what she found, how Remi did, what to expect during recovery, and even discussed an unrelated finding so we could monitor it in the future. There are people who are technically excellent at what they do, and there are people who are excellent at taking care of the human being on the other side of the exam table. Dr. Campbell is both. Benji was also incredible. His focus was on making sure I was okay during an extremely difficult night. He checked on me constantly, went out of his way to ask if there was anything he could do, and always seemed to show up at the right time with a positive attitude and some reassurance. His kindness was genuine, and those small gestures made a much bigger difference than he probably realizes. Theresa took amazing care of Remi after surgery. She was incredibly patient, kind, and sweet with her. It was obvious that Remi was with someone who genuinely cared about her comfort and recovery. Theresa patiently answered all of our questions, kept us informed, and gave us a lot of peace of mind. Natalie was fantastic as well. She carefully went through the estimates with me and made sure everything was clearly explained. While I was away, she even took photos of Remi and sent them to me so I could see that she was doing okay. At the end, Natalie found a roughly $200 credit that was owed back to us and made sure it was refunded. After such a significant and unexpected veterinary bill, that level of transparency gave me a lot of confidence that Remi's care was truly the priority, not simply maximizing the bill. I also want to recognize everyone whose names I unfortunately didn't get. Especially in the beginning, I was so worried about Remi that remembering names was about the last thing on my mind. The surgical team was amazing. They kept me informed every step of the way, explained what was happening, what was normal, what to expect, and how Remi was doing. After Remi came out of surgery, they did everything they could to reassure me and make me feel better--even while immediately preparing for another surgery. Their compassion during what was obviously an incredibly busy night meant a lot. There was also a nurse who cared for Remi after surgery whose name I unfortunately didn't get. She was incredible. I had a lot of questions, and she patiently answered every one of them. She made sure Remi was constantly checked on and did everything she could to keep her comfortable while she recovered. I wish I had gotten everyone's names because there are more people who deserve to be recognized individually. Every person we encountered, from start to finish, treated Remi and our family with kindness and compassion. This was one of the hardest experiences I've had with Remi, but I never once felt like we were going through it alone. I trusted this team with a member of my family, and I would do so again without hesitation. Thank you to Dr. Campbell and everyone at VEG for taking such incredible care of our girl--and for taking care of us along the way.

She addressed his abscess, which had burst, causing blood and pus to flow down his chest area. The staff were professional, friendly and kind. I appreciated that they were attentive not only to the patient, but also to parents and other dogs present for emotional support. (I brought along Skyler's sister Scarlet who is a 2 year old dachshund mix.) They generously offered water and snacks to parents in addition to a blanket for Scarlet after noticing she was cold. In total, the visit took 3 hours, since Sky needed to be sedated. We returned 3 days after to remove his drain, which was done gently and at no extra charge. There was no problem submitting invoices to pet insurance, and the reimbursement was even expedited, since the insurance company found zero issues with the paperwork. Thank you

Last week our dog Loui had a procedure which took a bad turn, what was suppose to be a simple tumor removal turned into a nightmare for me when i received a call from Dr. Siebert about Loui not breathing on his own. Loui's respiratory problems landed him in an oxygen cage in a new facility. Dr. Siebert drove Loui there himself, he stayed there with me a bit, he followed up and he spoke to my husband and i numerous times. I saw the sad and concern look in Dr. Sieber's face when i lost it and cried like a baby over my dog Friday and i will never forget his genuine concern and professionalims. I will never forget him carrying Loui out of his own vehicle and into the new facility himself and hugging me at the end and feeling so badly for me, caring so much for the dog and understanding that to us this was as traumatic as any family member being in the hospital. Dr. Siebert is a saint, we are so full of gratitude for his actions and his care and support. Loui is home now and recovering. i would give Dr. Siebert 1,000,000,000 stars!

Toby came in for his teeth cleaning and chest x-rays to check the resolution of a lung contusion from six months ago. I reminded the front desk about the x-rays, but upon pick-up, I found out he only had his teeth cleaned. I was told the x-ray machine had been down for a couple days and this wasn't communicated to me. My dog gets anxious and doesn't do well crated. I scheduled multiple services under anesthesia to get clear images and minimize his time in a kennel. On a separate visit, I dropped him off at 8:30 a.m. for x-rays and picked him up at 3:30 p.m., a little too long for my liking. I also had to buy trazodone to keep him calm and sedated for clear images. I was further disappointed when I learned that a radiologist review would cost extra since they couldn't definitively tell me if the lung contusion had resolved. After my phone call I sent prior images for comparison since I was asked if I had the images and couldn't provide them while on the call but received no response. The lack of communication, added stress and costs, and unclear results left me frustrated. I will not continue with the wellness plan, while it gets your basics covered, I have had better experiences elsewhere.

My husband and I were just transferred her from Pensacola Florida to Camp Pendleton. We have a beautiful Shepard that we love more that anything, and will occasionally will have to board when my husband is called out to duty. We decided to go look at some boarding facilities last Saturday, wow what a shocker it was to see what these places actually looked liked once you went inside. Never go by what the website looks like. We viewed four places and only one really grabbed us and knew that our dog Kurtis would do well boarding at. When we drove up to the place it was so pretty as we walked up, which gave us some hope...finally! As we walked in we were greeted right away by a woman named Sylvia, she was so nice and had much patience when we walk in and had a ton of questions. She asked if we would like a tour, which we were never offered at any of the other places. We gladly accepted and was very impressed with the cleanliness of the place. We were introduced to the people in the back that were taking care of the boarding pets. I was impressed with that as most places do not recognize everyone who works there. We had decided this will be the place where we'd board when the time comes. Upon our leaving a woman came out from a room and introduced her self as the manager, Lisa I believe. She reassured me that Kutis would be very well taken care of, and if it was for a long boarding she would make sure he was put in a bigger kennel to make sure he had plenty of room to move around in. She even took me back to show me the place she was talking about. We asked about interacting with other dogs, she explained something about a social test to make sure all the dogs got along together. Of course, as everyone probably says my dog gets along with all dogs. I do understand why and appreciated the time she took out to explain why. My husband and I cannot recommend this place enough. We have been to many groomers over the years we have had dogs, some good, some ok. We were fortunate to find, and have been going to Animal Keeper for several years now. Most Fridays are "spa days" for my dogs...a 75 pound 7 year old GoldenDoodle and a 30 pound 5 month old Jack Russell/Terrier mix. Initially, we had a brother/sister Doodle pair but lost our "gentle giant" male to cancer November, 2016. One of the problems we faced was that he went blind and we felt we were unable to give him a life of "normalcy" at the end....except for his last couple of groomings. Animal Keeper stood by us and gave him the most gentle care he could ever receive. He was given some "normalcy" which lightened his spirit even in the darkest final days. Ashley, Taylor, and the whole "Keeper Crew" saw to it that his care was over the top and it was obvious his demeanor was lifted. Well, since and before then, we continue the "spa days" with his littermate sister, and her new companion, the newest member of our family. For us all, those days have created joy and pleasure which we can all be thankful for. There are days I truly feel that Animal Keeper has been our saving grace. We speak of moving out of the area someday and I can only hope there will be an Animal Keeper of the Oceanside staff's caliber wherever we end up. I have read some of the negative reviews about the Animal keeper, and it seems as if some people went to a totally different facility than where I was. I have always been received by enthusiastic caring people. When I brought my dogs back to the Animal Keeper, all three of the dogs - two Yorkies and one Shorkie, have been excited to come with tails wagging wildly each time when we arrived. On one visit years ago, we had to leave two Yorkies here while we went out of state. We received a call from the manager telling us that one of our Yorkies was in dire straights and asking if they could place him with a specialist veterinarian. Has we not heard from them, Sparky would have died of pancreatitis, a condition not related to the Animal Keeper's care. As it was, he survived for several years because they took no chances and called us to request permission to do the right thing for Sparky. We have left birds and a tortoise with Animal Keeper over the years and they have all fared quite well and been healthy when we picked them up at the end of their stay. WOW! There are no words that can even touch how appreciative I am to all the members of Animal Keeper. My Wookie has been going there since she was a puppy and we have nothing but wonder experiences there from Day Camp to Boarding. Now I live in Murrieta and don't mind driving Wookie there because she comes home happy and I know she is safe and treated well. I had to have both my knees replaced and I was stressed that I had to leave my dog for over a month while I recovered. Animal Keeper knows what Wookie means to me and they went beyond belief to make sure that Wookie did not miss me and not to feel any stress of being separated from me for so long, I even believe that Wookie was sad to go once she was able to come home :-) I would like to thank Lisa and her wonderful staff for making this very hard journey less stressful of not having to worry about Wookie and my love and appreciation goes out to all of you. My wife and I moved to Oceanside, CA from MI for work on the Spring of 2010. We brought along our rather large Bulmastiff named Shamus and knew we needed to find a good dog hotel for when we travel back to MI to visit friends & family. The Animal Keeper was close to work so I gave it a try & Shamus has never stayed anywhere else since our first visit. The staff is great and Shamus always seems happy on pickup day. I also like the fact that the Animal Keeper does not charge a fee on pickup day as long as your pet is picked up by 12 noon; most other places charge at least a 1/2 day or even a full-day price. Although the prices at first seemed high to me, after reviewing other business in North County, I came to find that $29/day was less than average; some places charge closer to $40/day. All & all, I would definitely recommend the Animal Keeper for anyone looking for pet sitting in North County San Diego. read more

The Animal Keeper was incredibly awesome! I was visiting from out of town and my sweet golden was in some serious needing of a spa day. My mother had made an appointment to get all 3 of the dogs groomed while I was there but something happened during the scheduling and our appointment never got confirmed. But have no fear, Animal Keeper came the rescue and generously squeezed in all 3 dogs even though they were already completely booked for the day! They had all the dogs done just in time for us to make it to our concert and let me tell you. My golden looked gorgeous!!! They trimmed up his feet, brushed out his pants and rid him of all shedding. I think the last time I saw him this white was when he was a puppy! Our corgi was so soft and fluffy and our lab was very shiny and soft! Everyone we met there was incredibly nice and they promptly called us when they were done. We are new customers for life! read more

I just read the review from Jakob and that is not the Animal Keepers that I take my pets too. I have been a long time client at the Oceanside Animal Keepers and have boarded my pets there many times. Our dog is a regular in camp. Our pets have always been cared for with love and the staff has always been professional, courteous, and love our pets. The facility is very clean because I see them cleaning it all the time! The manager Liisa is the biggest animal lover I have ever met. If what Jakob said is true, something like that would never happen on her watch. Yelp readers I don't know what Jakob experienced but I know nothing like that has ever happened to us or all the friends I have referred to this place. This is a quality place. Read the other posts. The Animal Keeper is better than "as good as it gets" ! I have been taking my dog to the daily outdoor camp here for years and not only do I not worry if he is safe, I know that he is well taken care of throughout the day - each and every day. My bird could not stay at my previous residence due to a safety concern, and The Animal Keeper has an amazing facility for birds and my bird stays on an extended stay here and I never have to worry, as she is also extremely well cared for. They are very strict here and make sure that all protocol is followed to ensure the pets receive the best professional care imaginable. I enjoy going to camp at this lovely place. Taylor the manager is my best human friend there. Taylor get five woofs and two tail shakes. I like relaxing in the pool and catching some rays while running around chasing tennis balls. I've stayed over night and they have a five star menu that includes Bison and salmon gourmet. They even throw in some yummy treats for added pleasure. I'm a very picky dog and expect only the best service this is why I choose The Animal Keeper for my boarding needs. If I'm feeling a little selfish I'll get my nails done and a nice warm bath from from the ever so gentle staff that work there. My dog has been going to The Animal Keeper for a couple months now for doggy day camp, and it's safe to say he absolutely loves it. He gets so excited the moment we pull into the parking lot! The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and you can tell they genuinely care about every dog that comes through their doors. It's been wonderful watching how much more social and happy he's become since starting daycare. He's made tons of dog friends and always comes home tired and content. In August we rented a camper to go on vacation, at the time I was going to bring my 10 month old Australian Shepard but at the last minute decided to board him while we were gone. I had called several places and was not happy with what they had to offer. A friend had recommanded the Animal Keeper, so I called and they were able to accommodate my time frame as well as the price was very reasonable. We were gone for two weeks and when I went to pick up my dog he was very well taken care of and in great shape. I am now taking my dog there once a week for doggy day care and its great. The Animal Keeper is a friendly and fun facility with caring staff to pamper my pooch. I had to board my dog Hunter for an extended period, while I remodeled my home. Note, he is a big guy, 70 pounds. During his stay he became part of the family with the special care given to him by the staff. Hunter had a cool, clean and comfortable kennel with play time activities. When visiting him I could see how much he enjoyed the one-on-one attention he received. I take our dog in for grooming, not daycare. Ashley is Buddy's groomer. She is so gentle and sweet with him; it's obvious she loves animals. I have had him at other groomers that used dull razors that caused rashes, but this has never happened at The Animal Keeper. Ashley always asks in detail what type of cut Buddy would like. If there is ever a problem Ashley will fix it right away. Ashley even remembers to put cotton balls in his ears during bathing since Buddy's ears are sensitive. The grounds are great, and the front office staff is very nice. It is a tad pricey, but Buddy's very comfortable there so I keep going back. read more

I seriously would never take my pet anywhere else. I have been bringing my pet here for almost three years now, and even if its been a while since coming in, Dawn always remembers my pet by name. This really makes me feel good about leaving him. He always seems happy to see her and the rest of staff. They always greet my guy with a treat and love. He used to be nervous but he must know the staff is all animal lovers because now he runs to them to greet them all. I look forward to our next visit. I have a very active dog who is used to playing with my son. I use animal keeper for grooming, boarding and occasionally day camp. They have always been very thorough and friendly and my dog is always happy when he comes home. I travel quite a bit so it is important that he feels comfortable and can transition from our house to their facilities and back to our house in a very happy and cheerful mood. I would like to see them offer a few more discounts to people who use them frequently or not charge for some of the extras. All in all a good place to take your 4 legged family member. read more

We highly recommend The Animal Keeper in Oceanside!! We bring our pitbull mix here every week for doggie day care so he can play with the other big dogs. He absolutely loves it and comes home nice and tired. We also board him here when we go out of town, and get his nails cut monthly. The facility is clean and safe, and the team that works in the day care yard are amazing with the dogs (dog whisperer)! The staff is super friendly and we've always had great customer service. The Animal Keeper is our "go to" place for our rescue dog, Buddy. He has significant separation anxiety/abandonment issues. We bring him for boarding whenever needed, afternoon daycare several days a week and also for monthly grooming with Ashley. Our dog loves Ashley and all of the staff there. Recently "Kenneth" joined the staff and immediately fell in love with Buddy (I'm told the feeling is mutual)! Knowing that Buddy has staff who love him and look forward to seeing him means so much. I absolutely love this place! The staff is very friendly and I always feel so comfortable leaving my pups here to get groomed! I have an Australia Shepherd and a Scottish Terrier (who can be a little mean at times) but the groomers are amazing and know how to work with my pups!!! I recently boarded my dog Satch at the Animal Keeper in Encinitas. I especially would like to mention how friendly and pleasant the front desk person was both when I dropped Satch off and again when I picked him up. Satch almost didn't want to go home. The $10 I spent on his going home bath was a real bargain. I'm used to spending much more at other places to have him bathed. It's worth it to board Satch occasionally just for the bath! I do not condone that behavior, but dogs do engage solely with their mouths. I chose not to confront Summer Q, as I had faith the issues would be resolved. Unfortunately they were not. The staff at Hot Dog on a Leash always care for the safety of my dog and others in attendance and send daily updates with cute photos and videos. We love that they have a full size pool for swimming fun and we can log into cameras and watch the pups play. I can even let my kids log into the cameras so they can say hi to the dogs each morning. It is the highlight of their day! My dog starts barking and wagging his tail the moment we turn down the drive, and he comes home happy and relaxed. I would highly recommend this staff and spot for your dogs. I just ask you look at the long history of exceptional service they have provided over the years as not everything is as it seems in one review.

On my most recent visit, however, our bill had increased by about 35%, including a $20 "infrequent grooming" fee. I understand businesses need to raise prices, but this fee caught me off guard because we bathe and brush our dog between appointments. When I dropped my dog off, I jokingly said, "Everything the same as last time... except the infrequent grooming fee." I intended it as lighthearted feedback, not a confrontation. Instead, the owner immediately responded by telling me I was welcome to go somewhere else. The conversation quickly became heated. I'll own my part in that. I wasn't perfect either. But what disappointed me most wasn't the fee itself; it was how quickly a simple comment was met with defensiveness rather than a conversation. As a repeat customer, I hoped my feedback would at least be heard. Ironically, I think there's an easy solution. Instead of adding an "infrequent grooming" surcharge, why not simply offer a loyalty discount to customers who come in more often? The end result is similar, but it feels like rewarding customers instead of penalizing them. To be fair, they do decent quality grooming, and I have no complaints about the care my dog received. Unfortunately, after this interaction, I was asked to take my business elsewhere. We've since found another groomer we're very happy with. I genuinely wish them well. My only advice is that customer feedback, even when you disagree with it, is worth listening to. UPDATE: Thank you for your response. If you were looking to come across as confrontational, argumentative, and defensive, well, then you nailed it.
