This food hall is like an elevated food court! The pho restaurant inside was surprisingly good. We found it as an afterthought after putting our name down for Cheesecake Factory. After we discovered this Annex Food Hall, I called Cheesecake Factory to remove my name from the seating list. At the pho restaurant, I had My Tho noodles and my husband got the Pho Ga. I've been there a handful of times and am surprised to find *another place to eat there that I had missed in previous visits. Just to name a few food items you can find here: pizza, ice cream, chicken, hot dogs, super food, coffee, etc. It has a pretty large footprint, too. I love any place that has so many options to choose from! It's perfect if you have a big group or just want to try multiple things. I'd really like to see more food halls like these for easy access. We decided to go to Silver Lake Ramen since we haven't had it before. Our cashier was kind and food came out quickly! Around 6pm I found it kind of hard to find anywhere to eat indoors but of course, there are outdoor options which are great as long as it's not windy or raining. Bit of a walk from the parking lot so it can be hard to reach and I would love to see more local spots in the Annex but I get that it's easier for more well known restaurants to grab a spot here. read more

I am really glad that Oxnard and the 805 have the annex. I've been coming here since they opened regularly over the years and I love a food hall concept. Being located in the Collection makes sense as they get a good amount of foot traffic and it's nice to have food options that aren't full in restaurants. The actual layout of the annex is cool as it's easy to navigate and basically is a circular type food court. The interior is refreshed and definitely gives off a trendy vibe with each business having their own stand and ability to decorate and add their signage as appropriate. Parking at the collection isn't as bad as people make it sound. I can usually walk to the annex within a few minutes of wherever I choose to park as long as I go on that side of the collection. One reason that I love this place is that they house one of my favorite dining spots in all of the 805 which is Silverlake Ramen. I've left my own review for this ramen spot on their page but the annex always calls my name when I am in need of some tasty ramen. There is also a good variety here ranging from smoothies, coffee, pizza, pho, and beer bars. I give them credit for trying to be inclusive and allowing all different vendors to come here. The annex is always clean and the bathrooms are kept up with, all important factors. Last positive is their upgraded outdoor seating. A really smart move for those that want to enjoy some sunshine. The reason myself and others have docked a star or two is that the annex does appear to struggle with keeping their vendors long term. Half of the vendors are OGs but the other half have come and gone. I wonder if the rent is too high or maybe location for some of the stalls in the hall having a negative impact? I think it's unfortunate to have any empty stalls at this point in the annex as there are so many businesses that could thrive here if only it was more affordable I assume. Some businesses just haven't been able to make it so it does feel like vendors are coming and going. I'm happy to like a few of the spots here and they'll definitely keep me coming back but also hoping for some new great vendors to make this spot a 5/5. read more

A smaller food hall with several options to choose from and it looked like more to come. My friends and I were in town for work and decided a food hall would make things easier on ourselves. The variety was impressive! Coffee shop, ramen, pho, Korean corn dogs, fried chicken, pizza, Italian, a brewery, a smoothie place and an ice cream shop all one building. Something for everyone! I ordered the Shoyu ramen with pork and added fried broccolini. My friends had pho and then ice cream. I enjoyed a boba drink on my way out! It was all excellent and we would happily go back. The staff were all friendly but seating was somewhat limited. Not sure if that's just because it was cold enough outside that the patios weren't open or if it's just a smaller space? I'm very grateful for this concept style dining/experience coming to the Vta/Ox area. My favorite places are: ragamuffins coffee (truly my favorite in the whole area; and I love coffee. The good: I love food halls! They're so trendy, convenient and fun to explore. It's the perfect gathering place for groups of friends who enjoy different cuisines. This one's new and there are a few spots here that aren't occupied yet. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating here and a variety of food options like pizza, pho, coffee and hot chicken. There's an area with layered steps where you can sit and dine that I thought was fresh and fun. The places here included a shop for coffee, pho, chicken, pizza, ice cream, and jewelry repair. They had a machine that made cotton candy too. Outside this area there's a playground for kids and there's a lot of shopping. This is a great spot to take the entire family. The bad: There weren't as many food options as I expected. The interesting: The bathroom has Russian-looking propaganda but really it isn't Russian lettering but instead backwards English alphabet that you can decipher if you look into the mirror. read more

It's a vibe... trust me ;) You'll want to walk around the inside of the cool spot like 5 times. There's something for everyone! This place is a cute little gold mine in the middle of The Collection. It has tasty little places to grab some snacks and walk around. *Raggamuffin is a rather large location they serve coffee and pastries. One of the first places that had a spot here inside the Annex. Lucky for them it's been a few years and it's lasted even through COVID. I feel like they need a bit more food items. Not a huge fan. 3/5 stars. *I LOVE PHÓ is a Vietnamese very cute little open restaurant with a patio. You can actually take any of your food out to the cool patio section. The food here is delicious. We come here for the boba because, it's great quality! 5/5 stars! *Two Hands you just have to try this place! It's a cool spot for your littles. It's not a full on meal for the adults you'll have to order like 5 to get full :D It's perfect for the little ones just get the simple one with cheese. I love all the simple ones with no extra breading on the outside. Hot Cheetos is a must! You can grab your order and take it outside to eat. This place doesn't offer its own seating. *Pizza Man Dan you're a hero here at the Annex. It's a very family friendly atmosphere. They do offer seating inside and outside. Pretty cool spot to watch the games. They have an awesome big screen and a bar. To the left the have a quick to order area. I was really excited to find a food hall in Oxnard. Definitely has a vintage and hipster like vibe. It's small compared to other food halls I've been to in OC or Portland. Usually a great place to hang out and grab food, coffee, drinks or dessert with friends or family. There's patio seating too if you have your dogs with you. Th unfortunate thing is I've seen many places close down and seems to be possibly due to not enough foot traffic or business. I hope that means that there's opportunity for better ones to come in! Given the current pandemic, most places offer curbside pick up. I'd recommend wearing a mask and avoiding busy times/hours. Lots of free parking in The Collection shopping plaza. read more

Oh how I wish my area had a food hall (Coastal Virginia.) One is being built, but the opening date keeps getting pushed back and from what I've been told there hasn't been much construction progress made. Fingers crossed, but let's talk about The Annex. I was visiting a friend who lives within walking distance of The Annex. The Collection that surrounds The Annex is excellent in general, but the businesses within The Annex is what kept us coming back every day during my visit! I wasn't disappointed in any of the vendors and I wish my trip had been long enough to enjoy them all! My top two were After's Ice Cream and Ragamuffin Coffee Roasters. The food hall is clean. I thought there should be more seating, but during each visit there were more than enough open tables for us to choose from. I think this means that there is the "perfect amount." Or at least perfect for the amount of vendors currently present. A few of the vendor spaces are vacant which creates a strange vibe and a few dead spaces, but that isn't a big deal and it helped me and my indecisive nature narrow down where I wanted to eat. One thing I thought was really cool is during one of our visits someone was renting out board games for people to enjoy! Simple concept, but a nice touch! read more

My friend and I had an extremely distressing experience at the "Annex" food hall, which compelled me to share our ordeal. We were falsely accused and assaulted by a security guard named Andrew, and the subsequent treatment by his supervisors and the management was utterly unacceptable, which proved the statement "a fish rots from the head down." While I use cannabis for medical reasons due to my health condition, I consumed it responsibly outside the premises, but I carried a butt in my sweatpants until I saw a trashcan, so my pocket smelled like those ashes, and my friend, actually smelled like "Chanel". Despite this, Andrew aggressively confronted my friend, accusing us of smoking in the public restroom without any basis. When I turned around to confront him, once I felt from my back that I was being chased he would not speak to me, because he was too busy intimidating my 5 ft tall friend, so I had to call the police and make a report. My attempts to engage in a conversation were met with intimidation, as Andrew yelled and puffed his chest at my friend, even spitting during his tirade. I was calling the police, when another patron intervened to protect my terrified friend from Andrew's aggressive behavior because it seemed like he was about to hit her. The security guard got scared of the man and called for a backup, and the supervisors arrived. Still, instead of showing empathy for my innocent, crying friend, (while I was busy talking to the police, having tremors, getting migraines, trying not to faint because the distress triggers my disability), they assumed guilt without proper investigation. They said, " You, girls, could avoid it by just leaving." first, I'm not a girl; I am a grown woman in my 30s. Second, his Andrew attacked us at the bathroom door and continued chasing and screaming even after we left the premises, so there was no way for us to avoid what he'd done to us. What's more troubling is the lack of an apology or any form of accountability from the management. The security guard's supervisor Mr. Mosones attempted to gaslight me, claiming an investigation showed we smoked in the restroom. However, when questioned about the evidence, he blamed the cleaning lady, creating further confusion. I contacted the cleaning lady's supervisor, who denied any accusations from his department's employees and assured me that Andrew acted on his own behalf. The lack of concern and truthfulness from the supervisors, including the operation director, was disheartening. The operational director's dismissive attitude, stating he's "trying to get rid of Andrew, the ef else do you want?" was unsatisfactory. Their response, especially from the director, left me with the impression that there was a failure to acknowledge and address the inappropriate behavior of their security personnel. In the aftermath, I discovered that Andrew's misconduct is repeating and has the role of a litmus test indicating a failure in the management's responsibility. I have a disability involving chronic pain, and while I lack the health and energy to pursue legal action, it's crucial to highlight the disastrous management at the "Collection." For future improvement, I recommend the management: 1. Screen employees more thoroughly to avoid hiring individuals with obvious mental instability. 2. Take accountability for their employees' actions, as avoiding responsibility only exacerbates the issue. 3. Refrain from gaslighting and victim-blaming patrons who have experienced misconduct by security personnel. 4. Consider adopting a more responsible approach to liability by offering apologies and compensation for damages in line with the standards of civilized countries and states. I hope sharing this experience brings attention to the need for positive change and accountability at the "Collection." P.S. These are the business cards of people who were supposed to be there for us in this situation, but they chose not to be held accountable and showed an insulting, negligent attitude toward us. read more

I had been looking forward to check out Oxnard's The Annex [Food Hall] within The Collection Riverpark. While in Ventura for business, I drove the slight extra distance to eat lunch within the hall. Back in the day, food courts were a thing for shopping malls. Now that malls and in-person shopping are on the out, food halls and food truck parks offering novel eats and bites are popping on the up. I had previously visited similar locations with excitement in Seattle, Portland and Chicago and wanted to see how The Annex compares. The Annex was nicely designed given the layout and decor. It was hip, colorful and had a youthful California vibe. Given the recent pandemic, thankfully I only saw two spaces that were vacant. Whether you are looking for ramen, fried chicken, Mexican food, waffle sticks, beer, pressed juices or freshly roasted coffee, there is something for every appetite in the family. Keep in mind that The Annex is primarily, yet not strictly, offering only food options. There is also an indoor plant decor shop and a jewelry studio. Inside there are public restrooms (be sure to check out the signs meant to be read in the bathroom mirrors), spacious seating options inside and out, and public wifi (though that didn't appear to be working when I visited). All in all, they did a nice job with The Annex and it is a great addition to Oxnard. read more

I tend to shy away from these more hip, trendier, cooler, funky kinds of things, so maybe it's just ME who is not familiar with a slew of these kinds of places in and around SoCal. Yet, something tells me we need more of them. A big, gutted out building with minimalist decor, but offering up a whole lot of ethnic food vendors, things to drink, desserts, etc. with communal tables for people to park themselves and their belongings. It's a place if you can't decide on just one food choice. Order from one, order from all....... many choices to satisfy any craving. They're food halls, and one such place popped up at Oxnard's Collection. We went over Labor Day weekend, and while there were a bunch of places open, I'd like to see more. It looks like more vendors could fit in there easily, so I'm hopeful. When we went, there was your choice of Korean food, Poke, Vietnamese Pho, Mexican, sandwiches, ice cream, pancakes (savory and sweet), coffee, a beer/wine bar, a play area for the wee little ones, and even a gift shop. We ate sandwiches from Scratch, and we also got some ice cream from Afters....... the ice cream was excellent. The sandwiches were good, but nothing spectacular. Love. Love. Love this place. I'll start off by bringing up that I chose to wait until the first wave of foodies got their turn. I never like to hit up a place right when they open. The area is perfectly located in my opinion because just across the street is a huge parking lot. That's where I parked. Went around Levity, got to see the Christmas tree then crossed the street. My ice slid up as soon as I walked in. I was brought back to every public market I've been to in Europe and obviously Grand Central market in L.A. They fancy. Super fancy. My intention was to hit up Scratch, but I was with my niece so we did a walk around so she could see all the other vendors in case she wanted something else. Luckily, she ended up wanting scratch after. There's definitely something for everybody. I was thoroughly impressed with the lineup. Food, alcohol, juices and milkshake are all covered.
