Bad service, mediocre food, and little to no care by the managers coming around the tables advising about the extended wait times. Having to wait 1 1/2 hours before being seated in one thing, but waiting 1 hour for food and also being told almost 45 minutes into waiting that they didn't have the half roasted chicken available is wild. Been here before and didn't have the issues, but this last weekend was a disaster. The manager asked if we wanted water for the inconvenience.. you would think maybe a better beverage or alcohol would soothe the wait time. Another Yelp fueled find for this visitor to the city of Phoenix, and what a great recommendation from Yelpers. AB is located in the downtown area a few blocks from the Diamondback's stadium, Suns arena, and the convention center. The dining room is dominated by a rectangular bar and open'ish kitchen. It felt modern, cozy, and cool. The interior reminded me of the place Micheal Corleone eat before settling all family business. I noticed outside seating too (Phoenix outdoor dining would be dreadful most of the year though). I started with the smoked salmon rillette. It included truffle crème fraîche , olive caper relish on toasted ciabatta. Very nice start! For my entree I debated between simply grilled salmon and Pacific Sea Bass. Since the salmon was accompanied by bok choy, roasted heirloom carrots, black rice, and miso apricot glaze. I was over the moon that the salmon dish won the debate. The miso apricot glaze and carrots added sweetness to moist fish and savory/earthy bok choy and the black rice. It is a beautiful dish in both taste and eye appeal. Cocktails were my dessert (do not judge me....). I had the Grapefruit Guava Sangria made with guava purée, grapefruit and pineapple juice, brandy, and white wine. It was perfectly balanced between sweet and sour with brandy pitching in a nice boozy hit. Next was Blood Orange Paloma: Maestro Dobel Diamanté, blood orange, fresh lime, and my favorite grapefruit soda Fever Tree (sold in Costco from time to time). This was my favorite of the two cocktails. It's something about the taste of grapefruit soda with mixed with blood orange in the perfect alcohol that makes it tempting cocktail especially in the Phoenix evening dry heat. The Maestro Dobel Diamanté tequila is far superior to Casamigos and Patroń...yeah, I said what I said. This was my favorite cocktail in Phoenix (6 day stay). I was very impressed with the Arrogant Butcher and the affable service. The prices were fair and the food and drinks were outstanding. Five stars, and I shall return when in Phoenix. read more

My first time here and enjoyed it all. I wanted a sweet cocktail so my waiter recommended The Georgia Peach which did not disappoint. I was excited to see Turkey pastrami on the menu as that is not a common menu item. As someone who does not eat regular pastrami, this was a welcomed surprise. I had the Mediterranean salad and the chicken was very cold on top so I asked them to warm it up - it came back like jerky, it was no longer edible but the salad itself was tasty. This spot is located right near the hotel i was staying at in Phoenix during a business trip. I tried to get in on Saturday when I arrived into town but the place was packed and the wait time was long. I told some of my co-workers about this place and we decided to go after work during the week so I planned ahead and made reservations via Open Table. The hype is real and well deserved. We decided to stop at the arrogant butcher because so many Phoenix locals were recommending it, and there was definitely a reason for it. The location was great for anyone visiting downtown, and despite showing up at prime time dinner hours, the wait was extremely short. We ordered the Prime Rib and the Crispy Chicken. The prime rib was perfectly cooked, so tender, and had amazing flavor, better than most steakhouses I have visited. The crispy chicken however, stole the show for me. A combination of lightly breaded chicken topped with chili oil and king crab? Sounds crazy, but it was one of the most innovative and outstanding combinations of food I have tasted. The food was so impressively good that we completely forgot to take pictures. We ended the night with a sticky caramel cake. I am not exaggerating when I say it was one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted. While the portion seems small, it was rich enough to leave us satisfied and wrap up a perfect meal. We even got lucky enough that we went on a Thursday night, when they do half priced bottles of wine, highly recommend!! However, the best part of the night was by far our service, provided by our waiter, Graham, who gave us honest recommendations, wine pairings, and even wrote down a list of things and places to check out in Phoenix while we were in town.
