Previously we had the beef short rib stew, this time around we weren't as hungry, so we ordered two appetizers and drinks. We ordered the Buffalo chicken wings and the smoked carnitas nachos, ginger berry margarita, and a beer. The nachos were pretty good, but the Buffalo chicken wings were so difficult to eat. The sauce on the wings had a overly powering mustard seed taste, which I tried to cover up with more of the dipping ranch, but the ranch was not plain buttermilk ranch, so it made it worst. I asked for plain ranch, but they didn't have any, so I ended up leaving more than half the plate of wings behind. I recall this place having great service with very attentive servers and great food, but the servers never checked on us, and we had to wave them down to request for ranch, which they didn't have. Working downtown has its dining limitations. But I love that they offer their whole menu for pick up (or delivery). Its a treat to order a good lunch every once in awhile. I use the app to order and just a short walk over to pick it up. I have dined in once for a birthday work lunch and service, while friendly was a bit slow. We did have a whole hour and used it and then some. But the service I have received using their pick up option has been great! Its always ready (but not sitting there) when I pick up and I have been giving everything I need (utensils, sauce, etc) and orders have always been correct! I definitely will keep this in my lunch rotation and hope to try and venture out on the menu with more items. I will say their fish n' chips are pretty bomb! Lots to unwrap here but the stars are for the food and service. The location is directly across from the arena where the Suns play which would make this an ideal pregame stop. There is parking underground that comes with two hour validation. Now for the ratings. Food- A Service - A (thanks Alex) Bathrooms -A+ Ambiance - D+ The space is good here and there is a good vibe. However if you are looking for upscale this is not the place. I would go to one of the big name steakhouses instead. That being said they probably don't want to be upscale which is totally fine. I only mention it for those looking for that. My only complaint was that the floors were a bit dirty and unfortunately there was a baby right next to us getting half her food on the floor which was unfortunate for us but to be expected. The issue was that after they left the staff cleaned the table and booth but left the mess on the floor! For 20 minutes we watched employee after employee step on it, ignore it and as a result we had to look at it while eating our dinner (which again was excellent). The restaurant can't control the customers but they can manage the clean up. If I comeback I would ask for seats at the bar which looked nice instead of trying the dining area again. read more

Though it was crowded upon our arrival, the hostess quickly brought us over to the bar area and seated us. The atmosphere was dimly lit with just the right hint of music in the background. The bar area boasted a variety of spirits, as well as a decent selection of draught beers. We decided to order the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer. Not bad. The seasoning was enticing, but they fell apart easily. Still good though try em out. We were seated a few minutes early, and we were immediately greeted by our server. We ordered our food and some drinks to pass the time. I ordered the kobe burger. Cooked to requested perfection. The burger itself was tender and juicy, and was accompanied by a nice sauce - garlic aioli, I believe. Not bad at all, but it sat a little heavy in my stomach all night. In defense of the yummy burger, I did eat shortly before bed. Don't let that discourage you from enjoying it out on the patio. Pricing was pretty much as expected. I see how this place stays pretty popular. The prime rib itself was really good however I wasn't a fan of the horseradish sauce that accompanies it (It had a miracle whip esk flavor to me). My girlfriend had a New York steak which came with a sauce that she didn't like ( However I tried it & liked the sauce). The Brussel sprouts were not my favorite thing~ I would try another side next time. We tried the truffle credenza appetizer & that was great. The crab cake was also really good as an appetizer! Overall I'd give this place a 3.5 I'd have to try this place again sometime now that I know what I like & what I don't. The service was up to par. The ambiance is ok, perhaps a little underwhelming. The highlights: presentation of the food and drinks were spot on, the quality of the food was fresh and the drinks were delicious! Four stars instead of 5 because there was no salt or pepper on the tables, no table decor, menus were dirty paper menus, flavor of the food was a bit bland. After bottle of wine it's time to look at the dessert menu. The dessert menu changes here from time to time. The Mascarpone Cheesecake will be that little bit of sweet you need after eating seafood. Was invited for a lunch work celebration. Ordered the mediterranean salad which was fairly benign aside from the dressing. The truffle fries as a side (a large portion) but were very salty! This may be the first time a restaurant is reviewed without someone actually eating at the establishment. We just left the Diamondbacks game and were looking for a spot to grab an early dinner. On our walk over, my husband began to feel unwell due to the heat and a migraine. (We're from out of state, so this was a bad situation to be in.) We were seared promptly, in a small room just behind the server's station. Once seated, my husband realized he would be unable to eat. Our server - whose name I fid not catch - was incredibly gracious about refilling water glasses for us and giving my husband time to recover enough for us to leave. (No, he did not require emergency personnel.) All this to say, the service we received was extraordinarily kind, even though we had to advise the server we would not be able to stay. We ordered a half rack of oysters to start and the buffalo wings, which both were delicious! Oysters were fresh and the wings were huge with a finger licking sticky buffalo sauce. After flying in from Canada (en route to Mexico) and checking into the Palomar Hotel, we happened upon this restaurant around 5:30 p.m. before lines started forming outside. It was immediately apparent to us what a well-oiled operation this was. We were efficiently looked after from the moment we walked in the door. Not only did our drinks arrive quickly to our table, but our dinners were served in less than fifteen minutes from ordering. It would be too time-consuming to properly review the divine pork chops and roasted chicken along with their sides, but suffice it to say that we were so impressed we returned weeks later when having to spend another night in Phoenix for a connecting flight. On that occasion we ordered the amazing Atlantic Salmon and Chilean Sea Bass, which made for an even more memorable culinary experience. There's no dearth of exceptional restaurants in Vancouver BC where we often dine out, so we didn't anticipate being so wowed. Hats off to Sydney and her entire friendly and fun staff of incredibly hardworking and competent Millennials and Zoomers, who too often get a bad rap from Baby Boomers (but not us even though we fall into that generation!). If we're ever passing through PHX again, we'll be eager to go back to The Arrogant Butcher. read more

The french dip was good, I had to ask for the sauce that was supposed to come with it though. Our server was good as well but the noise level was wild. We were sat in an area that was like a small room, high ceilings and definitely needed some noise absorbing material because we couldn't hear each other across the table. There was a rather loud group behind us so I asked the hostess if there was any other area, as my mom couldnt hear me. They didnt so we had to stay in our spot. I noticed our waiter did ask them to quiet down a bit, which was kind. But we got some nasty glares after that from one of their group. My mom even noted to the server how it was hard to hear and he apologized and said how he is soft spoken. Right, so then we need you to speak up? I would come back if we had a better spot, more in front of the restaurant or even the bar but those back areas need some work. We would have gotten dessert but it wasnt worth it. read more

I ordered a gin martini extra and the crispy brussel sprouts to start. For my entree, I chose the filet which was cooked to perfection and the smashed potatoes. In the future, all of of my steak orders will be compared to this one! My waiter, Jack, was top notch. His team of servers, bartenders and chefs were like a well oiled machine. I was dining by myself and felt truly valued as a customer, never once did I feel rushed to give up my table for two. Bravo and well done! I came here for dinner tonight with my leadership team at work. We made a reservation for 5:30 and even got to have a private room to have our dinner in. From the second I walked in, I was greeted by super nice hostesses and was told I could wait at the bar or at one of the benches while they finished getting my table ready. I opted to sit on the bench but some of my teammates opted to have a drink. They all raved about the drinks they received. Dinner was amazing. We were served the garden salad with champagne vinaigrette, an entree, and dessert, along with delicious pretzel bites and provolone fondue (which was to die for). I chose to have the chicken breast entree that came with lobster on top and a really fresh sauce (I'm not sure what it was but it was delicious). I finished the meal with their cheesecake. It was really good! The prices are a little steep, but honestly, you get what you pay for. This was worth every penny spent. The waitstaff were all really pleasant to interact with and my water was never empty. The bathrooms were clean, the atmosphere was trendy and cool, and the food was delicious. I enjoyed the Arrogant Butcher. I have nothing negative to say. On a business trip to Phoenix, I dined there, solo, early in the evening due to having a ticket to see Drunk Shakespeare afterward. The place was already full, and if I had not made a reservation I would not have been able to get a seat. That is a good sign. It was bustling and lively. For that matter, the whole area was packed. Although the convention I was attending had thousands, I believe many folks out and about were locals enjoying downtown -- I have not spent enough time in this desert city to be familiar with it, and I guess I was wrong to have been surprised at how exciting the nightlife seems to be. Essentially, despite the fanciful name, this is a sports bar style restaurant. True to its moniker, meat is the primary choice. I had a cheeseburger. They have an AB option and a Kobe beef option. Mine was the former, because I am skeptical of the premium for the latter (if it is affordable, I am suspicious; perhaps others can report on how it is here, but the once or twice I have been treated to authentic Kobe beef, I have eaten it only because someone else is picking up the tab). The burger was good. The French fries, however, were superlative. I don't know whether it is the potatoes or the double frying technique, but they had that perfect crispy exterior and creamy interior. I have made French fries, and I enjoy doing that. You have to get it just right, to have a golden browned (color indicating the toasty done-ness) surface, and the window of time to extract it from the hot liquid is specific and tight. For health reasons, I am eating much less red meat. I mention that because I have to decide when it is worthwhile to do so. I don't want to waste the "cheat" on inferior quality. Arrogant Butcher met the test. PS I also will note the restroom signage was cool. That architectural feature is not why you would patronize a restaurant. I merely note it because it struck me as distinctive. You don't usually see the labels for men's and women's, and say, hey, that's neat. The outdoor sign, with their name, is huge and old school. For some reason, I believe the plantings on the sidewalk, I missed it, and I walked all the way around the block looking for the place. It is on the corner.
