Brought my daughter here for her birthday dinner on our last night in Puerto Rico, and the setting alone makes it worth a visit. Right on the beach, beautiful views, lovely atmosphere -- exactly what you want for a special occasion dinner in San Juan. We made a reservation and noted it was a birthday celebration. The staff acknowledged it at check-in, which was a nice touch, but that was the extent of it. Once we were seated, the birthday wasn't mentioned again -- which, for a restaurant at this price point, felt like a missed opportunity. The food was genuinely good. The guacamole was fresh and well-seasoned, served with malanga and tortilla chips -- a nice twist on the classic. The poke bowl was solid, fresh tuna, clean flavors, well-balanced. The star of the table was the grilled octopus with achiote -- tender, flavorful, served over a pigeon peas risotto with truffle oil. Really well executed. Service, though, needed work. Water glasses went empty and stayed that way. Had to flag down the waiter for a second drink. For a restaurant at this price level, that's the kind of thing you notice. The food earns the visit. I honestly did not expect to love the brunch so much. I mostly wanted to go for vibes and to enjoy the drag show, which was great, but the food was a pleasant surprise! I ordered the bottomless mimosas, which came with an appetizer and an entree. For my appetizer I ordered the watermelon bowl, which was pretty good, but basic. I did love that the watermelon had actual seeds in it, which I NEVER see in the states. For my entree I ordered the salmon salad, which was delicious! The salmon was cooked well and the salad tasted fresh. My side of fries were also tasty. My main complaint is that service was a little slow at times. Although I understand the restaurant was full, one of my friend's did not receive her final drink for almost an hour. However, this would not deter me from returning. read more

I loved the vibe, calm, beachfront dining - not overpriced, amazing mocktails and food. What's not to love about this place? Service is relaxed, I got a great table at 1 pm on a Friday and everyone around was just in full vacation mood. I got the calamari, mashed taro and passion fruit mocktail. We went to The Tryst based on reviews here. The view was lovely-- it was super windy, but that's not under their control. My alcoholic drinks (a Sunset on Acid cocktail and a Chardonnay) were great. My guy's (Oasis) mocktail was mid. Neither of us liked the appetizer (beef empanadas), nor our entrees (Seafood Pasta, mine. Roasted Chicken, his). I'd go back for drinks on a less windy night because the drinks, service, and view were nice. Oh, and we could watch the World Cup match as we dined. That's it though. read more

We came here for brunch and Wicked Lily and it was okay. The outdoor space was really pretty but the food wasn't that great. We shared the empanadas and charcuterie and for my dish I had the avocado toast with bacon. Some girls the bacon wasn't even fully cooked. The bathrooms here were also very disgusting. You must, must go to drag brunch at The Atlantic at the Tryst! Seriously, Alyssa Hunter and all of the drag queens and performers are amazing! We were so grateful to meet her and everyone! This spot is directly on the beach and even though we had a lot of rain, the show went on. The staff was so kind and accommodating as well. Shout out to all the staff, especially Christian for helping accommodate my body that needed a lower seat instead of the high table tops. Y'all rocked it out and made sure we could enjoy and not hurt our bodies. We also so enjoyed welcoming to other folks to our table to get out of the rain and celebrate together! As two queer, non-binary, and trans people who just got married, we felt very welcomed during such a difficult time of the world being scary. Thank you! I've become a regular at wicked lily. Its just the perfect combination for me, tasty food, reasonably priced well made drinks, great views and easy access to and from the beach. The contemporary music selection also agrees with me. The place just checks all my boxes Imagine sitting on an all white couch with your friends, a nice salad some fries and their confit duck *chefs kiss* on the table next to your cocktails, drake or bad bunny tunes playing over the speakers, and your view is the beach. I wanted to love this place so bad. Wicked Lily is located at The Tryst hotel with steps down to Condado Playa. Off the bat, I was drawn in by the view. I would say that was the deciding factor that landed us at Wicked Lily for dinner in the first place. We had a reservation for four at 5:45 and naturally ended up running late so I called the restaurant to change the reservation to 6:15. I was informed that there shouldn't be an issue of time and to come in whenever. Once we got there, I recognized that this spot was definitely more of a happy hour/drinks at the beach kind of place, not a birthday dinner kind of place. We weren't greeted and hoped that someone would come over while we looked over the menu. Side note: I know it's the age we live in but I'm not a fan of the impersonality of a QR code menu. We ordered drinks with a waiter and he brought them after some time but by then mine was a bit watered down and had the garnish knocked off it by his arm as he reached over which skeeved me out a bit. For food we ordered the pork croquettes and fried calamari. The calamari was okay and the pork croquettes were not a hit, unfortunately. The flavor of the croquettes were initially good but had a strange after taste. For my meal, I got the grilled chicken breast which I ended up sending back. The chicken reminded me of meal-prepped chicken by Wednesday. (Do you want to eat it? No. Will you? Eh, summer bodies are made in the winter I guess idk.) The menu described a lime sauce that went over the chicken and potatoes but it was more of a hint of lime. My friends were not fans of their meals, the wagyu burger and spinach ravioli, they mentioned their plates being lukewarm but not having the energy to let the waitress know. There was a note on the reservation regarding my birthday but everyone was pretty over it by the time dessert even became a thought. As a mentioned, I'm sure this is a great place to grab drinks and go (as many did during our dinner). The next time I'm in San Juan, I'll give that a go instead. read more

We brought an elderly friend to dine at The Atlantic at the Tryst. We planned to dine timing it with the sunset. I made the reservation on OpenTable. When we arrived for our reservation, it took awhile to be acknowledged and finally seated by the staff. When we were ready to order, our friend called our server, Enrique, to let him know. His reaction took us by surprise. He proceeded to tell our elderly friend that she needed to be more patient with him. He said that his section was full and that he was working alone. It was a very awkward moment and almost put a damper on our dining experience. We felt terrible for our dear friend who felt disrespected and humbled. Having worked in service industries for decades, we are fully aware of how stressful a dining room full of diners can be for a server. In this case however, we noticed that he only had 3 tables and that he was being assisted by other staff members. The manager, a very gracious host, seemed to sense something was not quite right. He paid special attention to our friend and managed to turn an uncomfortable situation into a pleasant one. The food was good, not great, but the setting was absolutely stunning. For Enrique, we left the minimum tip amount: 15% although we cleave at least 20%. 15% was a large tip in this instance. We left it because we figured that they might pool their tips and we didn't want to penalize all of the staff members. We'll return but only to the bar to enjoy the amazing view. read more

I hate it when you walk into an empty place but they pretend they can't seat you because every table secretly reserved. There was no hostess stand and no one greeted us so we thought it was self-seating. The server was so rude you'd think we had insulted her mom. The hostess came running to tell us to move. After standing between the bar and bathroom for the most awkward moments of our vacation, they finally agreed to seat our party of five at the only umbrella-less table in the blazing hot sun. We left. I'm giving them 2 stars because I went the day before by myself. I was lucky enough to get a table in the shade. I guess I had good timing. Even the server that was mean the next day was descent when I went alone. I was disappointed that the items I thought would be on the menu were not available. We meet again, Wicked Lily! It was my second time here and I think I'd visit this spot every time I am visiting PR. Just be prepared to be hot since it's located outside, under shade/umbrellas but no air-conditioning (they have a fan). Which is fine considering the view of the beach! Wicked Lily is located at the Tryst Hotel. Once you walk in, you'll see the opening right in front which also leads you to the beach. I just had to order the tres leches french toast w/ a side of french fries. UGH, so delicious. Even my friends were picking at my plate, haha. For drinks, we decided on a bottle of champagne for mimosas bc why not!? Brunch is served until 3pm so I was glad we made it just in time. Service was good, our waitress checked in often. What better way to spend our first day on the island than with cocktails and light bites at the oceanfront Wicked Lily in Condado Beach? This restaurant and bar is located just opposite the reception of the Tryst Hotel. They serve a brunch menu from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and a regular menu at 4:00 PM. Please note that their menu is not flexible, so be aware of this when you come here. Sports enthusiasts may watch some sporting events here on their two wide-screen televisions. However, you may also find better sports bars elsewhere. Overall, the food service is a little slow, but who's rushing when you're on vacation? I just felt SO good just sitting and feeling the breeze, looking at the people enjoying the beach while we were waiting for our food to come out. I highly recommend the burrata salad!! It was not only aesthetically pleasing but also so yummy. The truffle wings were a bit heavy with the truffle flavor, so keep that in mind when you order. If visiting PR I'd recommend sticking to the local cuisine. While this menu had a fresh take on traditional food, the fusion aspect didn't go that well.
