Very honest mechanic. Was taking a long road trip and they offered to perform a safety check on the car. Suggested new tires which I was so great full for as the trip was full off off road driving in the mountains of Georgia! Previously they did my brakes. Afterwards they were still squeaking. I have to hand it to this place, they really know what they are doing. Ed, the owner, helped us with our brake problems we were having with our first baby (Ford Ranger). He clearly and concisely described what the problems were with it, and replaced all pads and shoes for a reasonable price. He is a very nice guy, and clearly loves his business. They have been in Pompano Beach for 40+ years, and as new transplants to the area, we feel much happier to know that there is an honest business close by should automotive issues arise. I was in a real bind last week with my car and needed some major front end work done in order for me to stay on the road. I use my car for work all week long and most weekends. Not only was I able to go to Ed and get a quote before they touched my car, but they were also able to take me in right away. Now I'm sure everyone has gone to a mechanic before and received a quote prior to them actually getting under the hood and more times than not you go back to pick up your car and the bill is significantly higher than estimated... well, it turns out I needed a few more things done to my car that wasn't mentioned in the quote.... But, guess what... I wasn't charged any extra money.. Ed honored my initial quote and took care of the other repairs at no additional charge... Very unique situation...I was purchasing a car on EBay and I wanted an independent mechanic to do a detailed review of the vehicle. I searched Yelp and found the auto spot which had a number of great reviews on a lot of different sites. Several months ago I had some car repair done here, it was highly recommended by a co-worker. Since then, I've been back for more work, and EVERY time the service is great, prices are incredible and the work is fast and guaranteed. The co-worker that recommended this place has been going there for over 10 years I think. Ed is the guy in the front office, Dave seems to manage the mechanics. They are all ASE certified mechanics. I don't think I've ever had a more pleasant auto experience than I did today at The Auto Spot in Pompano. The staff was very friendly and took the time to explain and SHOW ME what needed to be fixed. The owner Ed, took time after everything was paid for (which was very reasonable) to take my car for a test ride with me so that he could hear some mysterious noises I had experienced. Theres just no BS in this place. I came in because I saw that google reviews were excellent and those good reviews definitely reflected on how this place does business. He's been at the location for many years. He values his customers. After the oil change we took a ride around the block in my car because of my concern with my brakes. After taking my car to the dealership because the A/C was blowing hot air. I knew I was being ripped off, so I decided to take my car to the Auto Spot where I have taken previous vehicles of mine for the last 7 years. Below is the breakdown I was given over the telephone from the HYUNDAI dealer to fix the A/C: High Pressure Hose- $351.89 Low Pressure Hose- $82.78 A/C Re-Charge- $232.00 Labor- $249.95 I took the car "Auto Spot" in Pompano Beach, not too far from King Hyundai. It is a small family owned shop that has been in business well over 20 years. When I arrived all the bays were being used, but Steve accommodated me right away. He had a pleasant attitude and was extremely helpful. I told him the diagnosis I had received from King Hyundai. Within less than 5 minutes he was looking at my car. He connected a device that tests the pressure from both the high and low pressure hoses. The device showed I had plenty of pressure, so he was fairly certain that the hoses were not leaking. He also checked the compressor which he found was working properly. Steve re-charged the A/C and the air is blowing nice and cold. The total bill was $138.00 This place is fast, honest, and dependable. I highly recommend them. read more

I took my Volkswagon Beetle in to rule out if problem was the transmission or just a sensor. I specifically told them if transmission was done, I don't want to spend any money on the repair. The guy swore up and down it was the sensor, and repaired my brake lights. When i came to pick up the car, I got a new sensor, a broken transmission, and brake light that was still out. This is the only mechanic shop I trust. Ed and his son Mike are good guys, and their workers do great work at a more then reasonable price. I've used them periodically over the years. And just recently lifted my truck, did everything but the front was too hard to do in a driveway. I already had all the new parts, they installed it for me at a very reasonable price and had the truck done in a couple hours. Then when I got new longer torsion bolts, ran by and one of their guys rounded the tips down correctly for me and also threaded them as starters so they could screw in correctly. Highly recommended. Not sure about the other bad reviews, way I look at it crap happens in business, as a business owner myself nothing is 100% 24/7, not possible. But my ex had a Mustang previously, and a few things were going wrong, other shops were telling her to replace this and that and the transmission was slipping. Brought the car to Ed, they just did some simple stuff and the larger stuff like the transmission and some other stuff said it wasn't worth it to do cost wise especially since we were going to be trading it in and the car wasn't really worth much anyway. They could have easily been like the other shops saying they needed to do this and that, but they didn't. Also when we got a new car and got some nails in the tires, they gave us the best deal by far on tires. Was around 550 mounted and balanced and paid cash so price was a bit less then using a CC, dealer and even online couldn't come close to that price for same tires. read more

I have truly never had such an honest experience in an auto-shop. You can tell as soon as you meet Ed (the owner) and his wife Nancy, that they are upstanding people. I had gone to several different shops in hopes of finding someone who would give me a fair estimate on what was wrong with my car. A friend recommended I try The Auto Spot and I'm so thankful that word of mouth brought me here. Ed went into grave detail about the issues I was having and took the time to drive my car with me. First time in this shop, good bunch of people, friendly and fair. Had my brakes and rotors replaced and very quickly. I was given a couple options which was very helpful pricewise and they now work like a charm. My E brake however had stopped working afterwards (Manual transmission) I park on an incline at work/home... but Ed was very accommodating and had me in to have a quick adjustment. Five stars for sure. My morning started off terrible when my car over heated while my husband was driving it to work. We had to find a place close so we could drive it there and get it fixed. We found the auto spot and Ed, Mike and their mechanics were really great. They got the situation diagnosed quickly, ordered parts and had me out of there in about 2 hours. LIARS thieves and crooks! Took my car in to have something simple fixed, the mechanic used up an ENTIRE tank of gas and told me as their excuse they left my car running ALL DAY. What?? Who does that? No offer to reimburse me for gas. There was NO mechanical reason they should have left my car running all day, if that's in fact the truth of how my full tank of gas disappeared! Then when I went to leave their deceptive place I couldn't drive my car properly due to the mechanic breaking it on the inside. I got out of the car and said to the mechanic "Hello? You broke my car!" He looked embarrassed and said "Oh, yeah, I did. But bring it back tomorrow I'll order the part and fix it for you for free." We worked out the details of time to bring it back, etc. When I showed up the next day, the owner was there and REFUSED to let the mechanic fix the part he broke on my car! I was told "Things break on cars all the time, just because my mechanic broke it doesn't mean I have to fix it!" Yes, you jerk, that's exactly what it means! You broke something that was perfectly fine and I was promised you would fix it! He refused to let his mechanic do the work, instead saying he'd only let him fix it if I paid them more money! WHAT? SCAM!!!! Liars thieves crooks and RUDE! The owner was a huge jerk laughing at me when I demanded he make good on the promise to fix what they broke. I told them I was taking legal action and he told me "no you're not." OH REALLY??? I have contacted the local news! They will NOT get away with this scam and ripping me off! Took my car elsewhere to get fixed the other shop's mechanic couldn't believe it and said he'd heard many horror stories about this ripoff shop and couldn't believe this place was still in business. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! The owner is lying, cheating, stealing CROOK who doesn't care at all about customers only about being deceptive, rude jerk, and ripping them off!! We used Auto Spot a lot. but until yesterday I'm not sure I would go back, and if I do go back its because they have the best price( but like doctors, when you loose your trust in a mechanic there is no turning back). Always do your homework before going to any mechanic, they are thieves. My wife was charged 650 dollars for front brakes and rotors, We called the dealer after the fact and the dealer would only charge 465 dollars out the door. Christmas is coming and ED needs the money. Wow. What a bizarre experience I had with Mr Waldhorn yesterday. Let me preface this by letting you know that I have been taking my car EXCLUSIVELY to the Auto Spot for close to a year and half now, and have spent nearly 2,000 dollars in that time- Up until yesterday, I haven't had any complaints (as far as I was aware). Dropped my car off for some work yesterday, and after the initial call from Mike on what needed to be done, I received a second, more urgent call from Ed. His tone was helpful and urgent in saying I had a 'BIG' problem with my wheels/lugs and that someone has DONE this to my car via using an auto wrench. Well, then I reminded him that they have been the only ones to work on my car for over a year and that I had come in just a few months ago to have new tires installed and a rotation. Makes sense for me to bring that up, right? Immediately Mr. Waldhorn's tone changed with me from helpful to irritated and angry. He said things to me like, "Well what do you want me to do about it?" and "Crucify me then!" when all I was asking was why am I just now finding out about such a huge problem when they removed all four of my wheels only a few months ago. He continued to say "I'm not the one that did it," "The tech did this and the did tech that etc etc." He even went as far to tell me twice that I make him want to put a gun to his head and blow his brains out. Ver batim. Twice. It is evident from his reaction that the problem with my car is due to negligence within his shop and employees (you see, my wheels have a lock, and an auto wrench is not supposed to be used on it, but laziness prevails sometimes), and rather than accept responsibility, he has a temper tantrum like a child. I honestly couldn't believe it, especially after having been going there for some time. So now, I have a 1,200 mile road trip and no possible way to change a flat tire along the way without a tow and a mechanic! Thanks Auto Spot! I have been a loyal, well paying customer for over a year. Perhaps it is time for Mr. Waldhorn to retire, at least from customer service. Even my boss, a business owner himself, couldn't believe his behavior, as he assisted me in picking up my car, and Ed just couldn't help himself by carrying on in the shop in front of us both. Mike sat there silently, I am sure it is not the first time he has had to deal with this type of behavior either. I will be taking my hard earned money and my raving reviews of you elsewhere, and I will be warning people of "your tech's" negligence, lack of attention to detail, and your inability to cope with mistakes. Just moved into Pompano Beach a year ago. I had an issue with my Chrysler 300 which was the brand new rotors(not factory) that I just had installed 3 weeks prior by another service technician out of state. I had not needed any prior auto maintainence and was leary on who to turn to. Well a friend recommended The Auto Spot and I took the shot by first reading reviews and then requesting a free quote via the internet. They returned my call and I explained the rotors were vibrating and that they were brand new. I told them that my out of state mechanic told me that they had to be defective. Well their politeness and professionalism over the phone sold me. They told me even though the rotors were high end that factory rotors should be used because of the weight of the 300. They didn't want my wife waiting around too long so they sent one of their employees down to the dealer to pick them up rather than wait for the parts delivery. They did a great job replacing them and the factory price was the same as the previous rotor price. The vibration was gone!! They now have me as a permenant customer!! Of the 37 years Auto Spot has been serving their customers, I have been a loyal and very satisfied customer for 33 of them. He not only guarantees his repairs, but has gone beyond guarantees for me when a repair needed additional attention. I was at Auto Spot today, having had an oil leak for months. Bringing my vehicle to Ford (close to my home), to diagnose the leak, I was given a repair cost of $2300, and the location of the leak. I had to have Ed look at the spot Ford specified, only to find the area completely dry of oil. The leak is coming from an area that, if repaired, would save me thousands, plus he suggested we try an alternative that may save me even more. As per "Absolutely Dreadful" ? 32 years later, and 32 years worth of repairs, He and his team are above reproach when it come to honesty and integrity. Try them and you will come back for more!
