I will NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. Never in my life have I gone into a restaurant and felt as disrespected as I did here. I requested separate checks for my party and was told it wouldn't be a problem. When it came time to pay the women behind the bar started yelling at our waiter in front of a packed dining room and bar. When we spoke up about the situation she got very snippy with us. The situation progressed as we heard her complaining to other customers about our table. At one point she literally yelled at us from behind the bar. Every customer in the restaurant was completely aware of the situation which made it extremely uncomfortable. I have gotten better service at a McDonald's in the LES of Manhattan than I did here. Such a shame because the food is pretty good but I refuse to return because of the way I was treated. read more

A little disappointed. I came here and had a beautiful filling lunch with my friends one day so I came back with another friend and we were completely disappointed. We sat down and it took about 8 minutes for someone to even come greet us and bring menus and when the waitress finally came over she reeked of weed. then we ordered a their whole wheat homemade bread and it came out half stale which they also charged us for. then our salads came with a couple bits of what it looked like old grilled chicken for $4 extra on the salad. They do have good homemade desserts so I will give them that. read more

This place probably has the worst customer service I've experienced. Our drinks were warm. My friend asked for milk, he never got it. The food was okay. The potatoes weren't cooked all the way. We got our food and didn't have silverware. When she brought us silverware, the forks were dirty and wet. We just wanted to get out of there so we asked for our check. The waitress brought our check and told us the 20% tip was already included. We were a group of four. I paid for my food without the tip included. When my friend told the girl at checkout about our experience, she said "the waitresses don't cook the food." Even though true, an apology would have been better. read more

Plenty of seating, a long bar with comfortable stools, an outdoor back deck, and a good mixed music selection make this a fine place to spend a Saturday afternoon. A very solid selection of beers on-tap and the healthy/veggie menu options will satisfy even the choosy-est of friends. This would have been 5 stars for the view, the service and the food but the wait for sunday brunch at over 50 minutes from when we placed the order just seemed a bit ridiculous for eggs benedict and a breakfast burrito - both on the regular Sunday menu. Still busy but they got us seated quickly and even though food was slow, wait staff were attentative and kept the water filled. Sit on the deck (if it's open) and enjoy the view. Reviews say service is slow; we were very early for lunch, and service was quick and courteous, but then when the lunch crowd arrived our waitress disappeared. It seems like part of the problem is the waitstaff have tables outside and inside, and it is difficult for them to manage tables they can't see. read more

To be totally honest, food-wise I would give three stars, but I love the Autumn so much as an overall dining experience that I bumped it up to four. Regardless of the stars, I definitely recommend it! The pickins are slim in Oneonta where you either get Italian joints (seemingly by the dozens), the occasional BBQ hang, the Neptune diner, or fast food. And most are pretty sub-par (with the exception of the Italian Kitchen which I highly recommend). We head upstate to work at a music festival at SUNY every summer, and probably go to the Autumn about once a week. Nice, rustic vibe, plus outdoor seating if you're into that, friendly service, CHEAP drinks. I recommend the Aztec enchilada, the Tempeh burger, any of their salad options with yogurt garlic dressing, and I've had some good fish specials, steak specials, etc. The service can be a tad slow, but it's a nice place to just take your time anyway. The autumn cafe is always a must visit when I'm home in oneonta. It has a great, casual atmosphere and offers craft beer and delicious, healthy food. I have a couple favorites that I have a hard time straying from because I only get to this place 1-2 times a year. I love the Denver turkey melt and the veggie melt over rice. On my most recent visit during the Christmas holiday I decided to try the tempeh. The waitress was helpful in explaining what it was and I was glad I gave this interesting food a try. It has great texture and flavor and went well with the veggies and brown sauce. I had an ommegang bpa with my meal and other brewery options included victory and dogfish head. Stop by for a delicious beer and food that you won't feel bad about eating. read more

Came here to eat a few years ago when i was visiting my son up at the university. Gave it a try. I don't want to say it was bad but i left hungry and it was a little pricey. The menu was limited. Came back this way on a road trip and wound up in Oneonta. I decided to give it a second chance. Not a good decision. Although the employees there are friendly and helpful the food is just not good. I ordered some nachos supreme and i received a plate of warm nachos with a few globs of cheese on them and then something i think was refried beans on top of that. My wife ordered a tuna wrap. It feel apart in her hands. Very watery. Anyway say no to the Autumn Cafe and definitly go To Brook's BBQ up the road. A very cool place with great food and great prices!!!! read more

The Autumn Cafe was the first place we checked out when trying to decide whether to move to Oneonta. To this day (ok, six months later), it's still our first choice when we have friends or family in town. The atmosphere is great and the food is usually really good. They do tend to be a little inconsistent, but when they're on, they're on. The service is the biggest risk, but if you're willing to roll the dice on the wait time, it isn't a dealbreaker. This has to be my favorite organic restaurant/diner and it's in Oneonta of all places. They make a delicious burger and I love there potato salad. The girl I was dating at the time was a vegetarian and would always beg me for us to eat there because she thought they had the bet food for vegetarians in all of Oneonta. If you give them a heads up, you can fit a large group there. We went to them as part of a bar crawl and it was loads of fun and they had a ton of great finger foods. They also have a ton of cool pictures up around the bathroom walls. The service is also great and I never had a problem. Another place in Oneonta I really want to go back to. read more

OMG, This is the BEST Reuben I have had in a very long time. It came out hot from the grill and it's perfectly done. I make Reuben's at home but nothing like this. I think the secret it the bread. It's cut thick and perfectly seasoned. It's accompanied by some excellent bar made potato chips and a perfect garlic pickle. I'm only visiting here and I wish this place wasn't 200 miles away. Best burger I have had since moving to the Southern Tier. Not that it was life-changing or anything, but it was actually cooked to medium as ordered, pink/red and juicy. You wouldn't think that would be hard to do, but the Autumn Cafe is the first place I've been to around here that actually did it. The fish my wife had was okay, but the butternut squash mash she got as a side was unbelievably good. The atmosphere was fun and laid back and our waitress was the same. We'll be back. read more

Had chicken fajitas. They were ok. Salsa was great! Service is ok. My son ordered quesadilla. After 20 min the waitress came back and told my 10 year old not me that he couldn't have it to chose another item off their already limited menu. I asked why since it was just tortilla and cheese and she responded rudely, the kirchen said they can't do it. Excellent food. I had the Korean BBQ; wonderful broth, tasty pork belly and tons of crispy veggies.

I wish I could give this place a higher rating because my food was good, but other factors lessened the experience. First, our server kept returning too quickly to the table before we could decide what to order. The menu items were interesting, but there was a lot on the menu that I wouldn't order. I had chicken fajitas and while they were very fresh and had good flavor, they had whole chicken cutlets inside which made them awkward and difficult to eat (fajitas usually have shredded or diced chicken so you can bite into them). They also had a $2 upcharge for a side salad instead of fries/chips--the salad was not worth $2 by any means (nary a tomato, olive, or pepper in sight). The check has suggested gratuity of between 18-25% right on it, but that seems awfully high for this place. The vibe is relaxed and casual, and then that gratuity makes me feel like I'm getting the bill from a five star restaurant. They seem to have some work to do in terms of finding the personality of their cafe, but they're going in the right direction with fresh ingredients and an innovative menu. Overall I'm glad I tried the place, but if you're picky or mostly eat traditional American fare (or have kids with you) I wouldn't suggest it. read more
