Came for drinks after having brunch in the area for my birthday. It's been a long time since I have been in the area and just "hanging out". The view by the water is always beautiful. The place is tucked away next to the main building. It wasn't too crowded and the noise level was good too. Got to chat with friends while downing some delicious crushes. They have a lot of drink options and the place is just laid back and chill. Got the pizza and it was good. Not a fan of thin crust usually but it was just enough to eat with the drinks. Other diners ordered the nachos and it looked really good. The bathroom is tricky and you have to go up the stairs into the retail store. There is only one bathroom so be prepared to wait depending on your timing. Will have to make another trip back soon. The servers (2) working the area we sat were attentive and friendly.

Beat vibe on Virginia Beach! Amazing food, great view, cold beer! Friendly wait staff that constantly made rounds checking on everyone. What else do you need?!

Beautiful views! Seating is limited so get there early. Staff was polite, but definitely under staffed and over worked, making the table service lacking. The food and drink menu looked great with a variety of items to choose from. The food itself when it showed up was not great, super disappointing because everything else about this place is great. The tuna sandwich tasted like ammonia cleaner, might have been sitting out too long, and the pizza was flavorless. Although the crab dip was great! So I'd have to say the menu is hit or miss. Give it a shot, worst case you have a nice drink with a great view.

The Back Deck restaurant, really displays its seafood offerings for everyone to see as you enter this popular Virginia Beach restaurant/fresh fish shop. The actual Back Deck, however, is located to the rear of the seafood shop along the deck over looking a beautiful view of the sun set. My Grubbing Buddy and I arrived late at night when there was no sunset to be seen, though there was a refreshing ocean view to behold. We first ordered a Bloody Mary and a beer to start our evening, along with crab dip with pita points (more than we could handle) and, finally, the Steamed Seashore Platter, which included 12 oysters, 12 clams, one pound of shrimp and two crab leg clusters. It was delicious and more than we could handle, so we took what was left back to our hotel room. The Back Deck crowd was friendly, resulting in an enjoyable dining experience. I would love to return when it's warmer to see that sprawling view of the Atlantic Ocean from the deck.

July 26, 2024 - Three for dinner. Went for a meal , not to hang and drink, so maybe not a great spot for that. Horrible parking and lot design and layout was ridiculous and dangerous. Cars backing out of little spots and a little craziness. Service was okay, big bar and drinking crowd and very packed......seemed to need a few more servers and bar folks. Food was decent. Fresh and nicely made and presented. Great view and location. I would go back again but maybe not in the later evening or on the weekend.

The vibes were immaculate, and I love that you can bring your dogs here! It's right on the water, which makes for the perfect setting. The service was excellent, fast and attentive, with multiple staff members checking in on us throughout. I'd recommend upgrading to the wood-fired pizza since the regular crust was pretty bad. The crab dip had amazing flavor, though I didn't notice actual crab in it. Overall, a great spot and I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu!

We absolutely loved the Back Deck. We sat on the deck and watched the boats on the water. The service was outstanding! The food was excellent and fresh. Presentation was great, too.

Came on the weekend just before Sunset and remembered how difficult it was to get a table as it's a first come first serve basis and you just grab a table as someone leaves. Not the best method in my opinion but most people seem to hang out by the bar. Place has a great view for the Sunset and meaty oysters, but I wouldn't suggest for a date. More-so, a casual vibe for a hangout spot.

Awesome place for social drinking! The deck out back is spacious and the workers are very attentive! I didn't try the food but they looked pretty good for simple eats! Highly recommend for drinks and pretty

And of course they have the "Porch" area which gives that outdoor vibe but you're still inside of a fenced in area. My friend and I ate in the dining room area since it wasn't a wait. We ordered drinks, two crushes which were amazing and refreshing. It definitely gave island vibes. We started off with the crab dip which was incredible and flavorful. The bread with the dip was A1. I could eat the bread alone. Now for the actual dishes. She ordered the crab cake sandwich, she really enjoyed it. Not much filler at all. I ordered a variety. So I had the Cali Virginia Roll which was amazing!! I wish I would have ordered two orders. It was just more on the pricey side. I also had the fried shrimp which were HUGE. I didn't even finish it all. I cannot wait to come back and try everything again.

We waited at the bar and had some great local beer! About 20 mins later, we weee seated. It took about 12-15 mins to get a server after we were sat. The overall service left a lot to be desired (bartender was great). We ordered a half pound of steam shrimp and it was excellent. They shrimp were large and fresh. We also got a cup of their she crab soup, which was absolutely amazing. For our mains I ordered the catch of the day flounder. They didn't have a blackened option so I got it broiled it blackened seasoning non top. The fish was excellent, the slaw was not good. The scallops were amazing and cooked perfectly. Overall, the atmosphere was great but it was amazing madhouse. We never got a refill and the service wasn't great. The food was a 10/10 overall.

We started with the she crab soup and the half-pound of steamed shrimp, and both were outstanding. The she crab soup was rich and flavorful, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked and absolutely drool-worthy. My boyfriend ordered the grilled salmon, and after trying a bite, I have to admit I was a little jealous--it was phenomenal! I ordered the scallops with peppers, onions, and cucumbers. The scallops themselves were cooked perfectly, but the cucumber flavor just wasn't for me. That's purely a personal preference, not a reflection of the quality. My biggest disappointment was the coleslaw, which seemed more like lightly shredded lettuce with a drizzle of Marzetti's dressing than traditional coleslaw. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the food or the view. We waited quite a while before anyone acknowledged our table, and after our order was taken, we never saw our server again until the check arrived. There were no drink refills, no check-in to see how our meals were, and no thank you at the end. Overall, Bubba's has some incredible food and an unbeatable waterfront atmosphere, but the inconsistent service and a couple of underwhelming menu items kept it from being a great experience. It wasn't the best meal I've had, but it certainly wasn't the worst either. I'd definitely come back--for the appetizers, the salmon, and that beautiful view.

That's more enjoyable as you get a better breeze. When we went on a Saturday evening, we were quoted a 45 minute wait, however, there's a first come, first serve outdoor seating at the pool area. It's full bar and menu. I found a seat here BUT It was still super busy and took so long to get waited on and to get our appetizer, cocktails and meal. So maybe it would have better to wait to get seated in the "restaurant" part? When I did get my food, it was hot and still good as you know Surf Riders to be. I am not saying S.R is the best seafood but it's good enough. The "crush" drinks are not your typical crushes you get at other restaurants like at the oceanfront, it's a regular cocktail in ice. But the Mango Colado was sooo yummy! Like a slurpee!! Perfect sweetness and the tajin rim made the drink even better. I didn't really taste any liquor and I am very sensitive to liquor, so they are very light handed! Overall, a cool place to hang and eat.
