They were the worst nachos I've ever had in my life maybe 3 to 4 pieces of chicken and greasy fermented cheese on the side, when I told them about it they were nice and said I could get a refund and that the manager would be there when I got there. They treated me with disrespect and told me that it happens sometimes that I should probably get over it. WOW! Gross. Zero ambiance, just hard barstools and tall tables. I should have known not to order food - we were the only table that dared to do so...so sorry we did. The burger was nothing special but the fries were good. The Lilac City mac-n-cheese was almost inedible. It was served up lukewarm with a skin of congealed flour and cheap processed cheese that left a dry coating on the top of my mouth. It clearly sat around the entire time the burger was cooking. Once the sauce started to separate and I couldn't eat it. If lukewarm, disgusting food is your thing, this is your place! The service was bare minimum with a too cool for school vibe. Two stars for being open, looking clean and decent drinks. Keep in mind, we were there during happy hour and didn't get the happy hour discount. So.... this place is not for kiddos less than 21 years of age and the only reason I say that is because we watched several families walk up to the door and read the big red sign that says 21 and over. Surprisingly cozy and laid back restaurant/bar, family friendly with lots of TVs for watching sports. The kitchen was backed up due to some big orders but the staff was pretty good about letting patrons know what was going on. We came for lunch and had the absolute worst service. We sat down at 12:07 pm. We waited 15 minutes for our server to come out and greet us. We placed our order at 12:24 pm. We ordered a wedge salad with chicken and fish and chips. At 12:26 pm our server came back and said fish and chips was not yet prepped. We changed that order to a plain half Caesar with chicken and a side of garlic fries. At 12:55 pm our server had not been back to check in with us once or refill drinks. We went in and asked for our food to be boxed up. We didn't hear anything for another 20 minutes. At 1:15 pm we went back in and they finally had the food boxed up. We cashed out and left. I would honestly leave 0 stars if I could. The server never checked in, didn't refill drinks one time, and didn't apologize or offer any condolences for the slow service and general lack of service. The other customer on the patio had a different server. Sat down twenty minutes after us. Received two drinks and her tacos before our salads were ready. This is not the place to go for a lunch during work. And definitely don't sit on the patio unless you want to be forgotten about. read more

Went two weekends ago on a Saturday afternoon for the first time and was pretty impressed overall! The interior was cute and inviting and the waitress was quick to get us our drinks and start our orders. I had the Backyard Burger add bacon (per the suggestion of the waitress) with fries and beer mustard for dipping. The burger was so juicy and flavorful and the fries were crisp and salty, just how I like 'em. I would definitely go again to try another burger of theirs, maybe during happy hour next time to get more bang for my buck. read more

Found this place on a whim and it was such a good find. Traveling for work and typed in restaurants. It was one of the top 5 that came up. Friendly server right when we walked in the door. I had the fish & chips and it was amazing. Crispy and meaty mahi mahi. Also, this place knows how to make sweet potato fries. One of the best I've had. It also came with a great coleslaw and I'm not too keen on coleslaw but I ate every bite. Highly recommend! On 4/26/25 My friend and I arrive at The Backyard Public House about 3:10. We were waiting to be seated. The gal behind the bar states the kitchen is in transition from brunch to dinner so it is going to be at least 20-25 minutes until we can order food. We started to leave but then decided we would wait and give it a try. So we were seated at a table around 3:24. We watch other tables that have been sitting there with no food. Shortly after 4 we saw that some tables were starting to have their order taken, so we waited patiently for our turn. Nope, nothing we were completely ignored until 4:41. The same gal that told us at the start it would be 20-25 minutes to order comes to our table and says are you guys still doing okay. We asked, can we order now. all surprised oh sure ya, I can take your order. food takes 40 minutes to come out. The food was good. but that could have been cuz we were so hungry from the two hour wait. Then when the check comes. The Entrees say choose a side unless otherwise stated. I chose a side and then was charged for the side. The transition must just be used so they can try to hide the fact they have the worst service I have ever experienced! Not worth the Hassle. I loved the ambiance of this place, especially since the whole place is 21+. No kids is a wonderful thing. The tables are comfortable and the music is good, but not too loud. We went yesterday, which was a Wednesday, which meant we could have gotten a half price bottle of wine, but we had already ordered food and drinks. Next time we'll look at what the special of the day is before we order. I got the Goodwin Gouda burger and it was delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly--still a little rate and very juicy, but it was really the garlic aioli that really made it fantastic. Had a nacho appetizer, which was the perfect size and flavor pre-meal. The burger and philly were both hot and fresh. The Bloody Mary and huckleberry vodka were right on the money.
