I only order delivery and it's for a rainbow bagel. Now every bakery can make these without them tasting like play dough. It's always yummy paired with strawberry cream cheese. Bad bagel is right. Made an order and it came over an hour and a half late and every single item was wrong. When we called and told them they were completely unapologetic and told us to order again. As if I trust them to make it right the second time? My omelette was supposed to have feta and tomatoes. That's what it said on the menu. Instead it was full of green peppers and onions, both of which I have a severe allergy to. I tried to eat around them and I literally couldn't leaving me with nothing to eat at all. This place cannot possibly be dietary restriction friendly whatsoever- because if I can't get the thing the menu actually says than I can't imagine they'd be accommodating at removing items correctly either. I ordered a vegetarian omelette that should have had tomatoes, onion, mushrooms, avocado, peppers and spinach. I saw one pepper, about 2 thin slices of onion, and no tomatoes at all. I wasn't informed that they were missing any ingredients, otherwise I would have ordered something different. I know this place recently opened, but I was here on 11am on a Friday. Unbelieveable. We live super close to this place and have given them SO many chances. We thought maybe the issues with getting or orders wrong 50% of the time was due to their recent opening, but this time is the last time. I order a bacon egg and cheese on a toasted garlic bagel. It's fast, as it's 2pm. I open the sandwich briefly to check to make sure there's bacon and cheese (as they've consistently forgotten one or the other) - I see cheese and bacon and call it ok. When I get home and actually open the sandwich, the eggs are DARK GREY under the cheese and bacon. Eggs are NOT fresh when they're GREY. "Bad Bagel" is not a euphamism. Extremely disappointed. The first time we went there, they didn't ask if I wanted to toast my bagel so they ended up gaving me a raw bagel. Today, after taking 12 minutes to start making my Ceasar Salad Wrap, they decided to heat my SALAD wrap without me asking. 15 minutes of waiting, with only one couple ahead of us, for a wrap that I then discovered is being heated up. Gross. Apparently you have to be extremely clear on what to heat and what not to heat otherwise they just take a guess. UPDATE: I finally went to eat this thing. Two massive pieces of chicken with a tiny amount of lettuce (think a burger) and croutons. Wow. I had just came from Goodyoga next door and figured I'd stop in The Bad Bagel (gotta have balance, right? Lol). I arrived around 6pm, an hour before close on a Saturday. I love the wide selection of cream cheese-- looks like gelato and I was tempted to ask for a scoop! The restaurant seems spacious for crowded morning lines and easy to order with a nice menu above the counter. There's four bar stools at the window (and a bit cramped) so I imagine if it's crowded in the mornings it may be hard to land a seat so expect to grab&go! The restaurant seems very clean and ingredients looked fresh. The nice gentleman behind the counter told me I could choose from menu options above or choose any protein and create a sandwich on a bagel, bun, hero, or wrap. I saw this attractive looking whitefish but there was no name tag on it like the other fish and protein options in the counter fridge so I asked the gentleman behind the counter what kind of fish it was. He asked someone in the kitchen and told me it was smoked sable and asked if I wanted to try it. The manager/owner came out and told me they don't give samples. OK. He told me it was too expensive to try but was nice enough to give me a tiny, thin piece almost the size of my fingernail and then tell me I ate $3-4 worth of fish, like he was doing me a favor and I was taking too much of his precious fish. He then tells me AFTER they make the sandwich that the sablefish on a bagel is $13. (The other bagels on the menu averaged about $9 or so). I already felt ashamed for taking a sample of his oh-so-expensive fish that I didn't even ask to try... I was offered, remember? Was feeling bad for even thinking of attempting to change my order to another menu item in the price range of the rest of the bagel sandwiches when they already made the sandwich and having to tell them I didn't want it anymore. So I got it anyway. Side note: I would recommend them adding the sablefish to the menu or at least stick a name and price so that everyone knows it's Smoked Sable and a different price for $13 if you want it on a bagel. If I knew the price up front and had not been given a hard sales pitch on the expensive fish, I may have bought the sandwich on my own without feeling shamed into it. Also, don't expect the portion size of the smoked sable to be what you typically would get on a smoked salmon/lox bagel sandwich. The manager says they don't give that much because it's a VERY expensive brand of fish but says he's doing me a favor and giving me extra (which wasn't even a normal portion size) because he wants me to be happy, while still reminding me how he had to pay a lot of money for the fish. Ok dude I get it, enough already! Lol ... How about just give a normal serving by weight, the same amount of fish you would for all the other fish and just charge accordingly (whatever high price it may be) so we don't have to have these kind of conversations and I can eat sooner than later?? Anyway, their restaurant, their rules. My friend had already finished her bagel by the time the manager & I finished talking and paid for the sandwich and I felt like it took so much energy just to order-- It was not easy! I asked them to toast my bagel but they forgot to do that. The bagel itself was decent just a little hard to bite into, could be because I got there an hour before close. The cream cheese was very good. I chose the cucumber dill on my bagel-- yummy! However the cream cheese to protein ration didn't work for me; too much cream cheese and not enough fish on the bagel for me. I had to pick out the fish to eat it by itself to actually taste it. My experience may have been better if I had not built my own bagel and made it easier for them and just ordered from the menu. I recommend everyone to just stick to the menu. read more

Fitting name. I used to like this place even though it's always been pretty pricey, but in the past year their prices have skyrocketed and quality plummeted. Last time I went, I ordered a sausage egg cheese hash brown on an egg bagel. When I left, I noticed they made the sandwich on a whole wheat sesame bagel, and they put the hash brown on the side. Not only was the order way wrong, it was a painful $10. My girlfriend went today and ordered a bagel with jalapeño cheddar cream cheese. All they did was add jarred pickled jalapeños and bagged shredded cheese from the grocery store to some regular cream cheese. They only put a tiny bit on the bagel and it she was charged $7. The employees actually read my notes and my order was better than I could have imagined today. Don't sleep on the French Toast! If you order fruit with it they add a nice portion of strawberries and blueberries. My orders have always been really good. Packaged nicely and always make it to me hot and looking nice. We ordered two items only. The gluten free pancakes and a wrap. I have celiac and was very excited for the pancakes. Instead they sent waffles. I called 17 times to find out if they at least sent a gluten free version of the waffles. No one ever answered the phone. Seamless even called and no answer either. I work in the industry so I know it's not difficult to double check an order ticket. Especially for only two items. Since I could end up in the hospital from such a careless mistake on their behalf. I had to toss the waffles in the garbage. If you are going to offer options for allergies and take orders, you should actually look at the order ticket. Or ANSWER THE PHONE????? I visit to this spot frequently as I am a local and while their food and drinks are all great I do notice that they are busy pretty frequently - this can mean a long wait for a simple cup of joe and after reading other reviews I guess this can also mean a high chance of order inaccuracy. The workers are pretty nice. Note this place is strict about the amount of joe they pour in your cup even when you ask for more or less ice. I'm stupid for not having reviewed the bad bagel yet, because I usually order it a few times a week. Their bagels are incredibly fresh and delicious. I typically get the everything toasted with scallion cream cheese and the texture of the bagel itself is light but crunchy--everything you want in a bagel. I have shelled out for the newly opened black seed, and I know some will argue that it's like comparing apples to oranges, but if given the choice, even at equal price points (which they are not) I'm going for the bad bagel. Don't bother ordering anything for delivery. They don't even bother to get the order right. The other day, I placed an order on Caviar for a breakfast I was having with friends. I get a call, and the woman who worked there said they were out of the cream cheese flavor I ordered for one bagel. We agreed that the best option was to cancel that one item and fulfill the rest of the order. 30 minutes later, I get a notification that my item was cancelled. I decided to give them a second chance because the menu looked good, and ordered two sandwiches, one was simple and priced at $6.50, and the other was over $10. I have now been to the bad bagel around ten times, so I feel like I can leave a pretty unbiased review. If it counts for anything, I have been a kitchen worker/chef for almost a decade and am very sympathetic to many common issues. What's good about this spot? It has a lot of vegan options, friendly staff, convenient location, and when the bagels are made right, they're great. There are only two people I've seen there who have made me great bagels - a tall, bearded man and a woman with dark, somewhat curly hair. Toasted, assembled well, fast, friendly. Definitely stop in if they're working. Prices aren't bad either, especially for those vegan options. What do I have issues with? Why the two stars? Because I believe whoever owns or oversees this business is lacking. Every other employee seems to be working their first job ever, or not entirely trained. Like they just got thrown onto the line. I've been in there a couple of times where the cream cheeses aren't labeled AT ALL. If I eat dairy, I could get very sick. How do I know everyone knows which container has tofu scallion and which has regular scallion? What if I had a severe food allergy? In addition to this, the two times I ordered delivery from bad bagel, our bagels arrived completely untoasted. Both times our order was delayed and took about an hour as well. I hate to leave such a negative review for a place with pretty good food and a couple of amazing employees but there's such a lack of organization at a managerial level that I cannot leave a better one. I Just happened to be in the area with my gf and we were absolutely STARVING having not ate all day. I searched bagels nearby and this place came up. I'm from Brooklyn but don't frequent Bushwick too much because it's just not really my cup of tea (gentrification and all) but upon walking into The Bad Bagel the only gentleman in the front was extremely kind and welcoming. We were the only ones in there at 4pm. Ordered 2 bacon egg and cheeses on toasted everything bagels and 2 iced coffees. Food came out in maybe 10 minutes or so which is kind of long when a deli can whip one up in 2 minutes. They didn't have any liquid sugar for the iced coffee and I asked the man working if he wouldn't mind mixing it with hot water. He was so nice and mixed some more because it wasn't sweet enough. Kudos to him for being helpful. The bagels were good (a little small) and could've used more bacon. Overall I was satisfied. I had been eyeing the mexican burrito and my girlfriend knew I would be craving it later so she ordered one to-go. Took a little while to come out but when I ate it later on it was really good too. Giving it 4 stars because it was good but didn't wow me. I probably received better service than some other reviewers because we were the only ones there, or it could've been the helpful worker in the front. read more

I never ordered from them before but the ABC omelet looked promising. Omg, just a few bites in, I had to give them a call and let them know how good it is! Seriously, that good that I had to call them. The bacon was actually crispy and not burnt. The eggs perfectly made and it came with hash browns! Best of all? My order was right on time. Check the reviews and come to the conclusion that it is unabashedly the latter. I ordered a breakfast wrap that was supposed to contain eggs, bacon, cheese, avocado & potatoes. What I got was actually a bunch of potatoes with some egg flavor. I think there was 2 strips of bacon but I can't be sure, because they were overpowered by the amount of potato on this wrap. Seriously. $10 for a wrap? This place is so overpriced the sultan of Dubai couldn't afford to go here. $2.25 for a can of soda that's $1 across the street? How long do I have to wait around for 1 wrap to get made...especially when you call 10 minutes ahead? Well that's gonna be another 20 minutes. The bagel was a bit hard and hurt our jaws after the first half, but it was pretty good and I would come back to try it again. Every single time I've visited The Bad Bagel, I was met with nothing but frustration, disappointment and some kind of food that wasn't what I ordered. The final straw for me with this Mecca of incompetence masquerading as a bagel place came one recent morning when I was putting milk in a coffee I ordered. The milk came out in chunk form. I politely informed the girl behind the counter about the milk, where she immediately went in defense mode and showed me the expiration date on the milk. I told her "I get that, but... you saw the chunks in my coffee." She then took her sweet time changing the milk, and after 3 or so minutes I politely asked her if I could get a new coffee, to which she very angrily replied "I know!
