Bagels are good, and they do have a variety of items on the menu. Definitely not limited to bagels, they also have breakfast burritos, soups, salads and deserts. My wife and I do enjoy the food here and the artichoke bisque soup is fabulous! When visiting this place one must order at least a cup of this soup and it will knock your socks off. Fridays they serve a home made sausage sandwjich which is also very good. Doesn't rate too high for me, because it is a bit pricey for lunch and service is very slow. Lunchtime, could be a long wait as the line goes out the door at times, which makes it difficult to order, eat, and get back to work in your alloted hour. My go-to's are the all seed bagel with plain cream cheese, plain bagel with honey butter or a breakfast burrito. Hard pass on this place, it was my second time coming because I wanted to give it one more chance. The first time around I came on a Saturday morning obviously they were busy so I didn't make a big deal about the 30 minute wait even though it was a little ridiculous. I didn't like my bagel but that was my fault for not asking for no capers on my Lox bagel. Today tho I ordered the Santa Fe bagel on a sesame toasted bagel and the bagel itself it's supposed to consist of chicken, avocado, jack cheese and chipotle sauce. I omitted the jack cheese but the chicken was extremely dry and rubbery/chewy and just plain out bland, the avocado ratio was alright but the chipotle sauce was non existence, I literally order the bagel just for the sauce and received none in it. I mean for $9 I could of gotten something way better anywhere else. But honestly overall both times the staff is just rude, no acknowledgement it's just a uncomfortable atmosphere. read more

I haven't eaten here in a long time, since I work on the Peninsula. Saturday, I was famished, and I realized that the Bagel Corner was just around the corner. Same owners as Ginos, so I got their Artichoke Bisque. It's crack soup. Seriously, rich and creamy. Compared to the Bagel Bakery, their prices are much higher-- like almost double. But, then again, their bagels are much softer and fresher in texture. I ordered a simple Vegetarian sandwich (sprouts, tomatoes, cheese) that was under $5.00 and the soup. I also took home their seasonal pumpkin bagels (delicious). If I worked in Salinas, I'd frequent this place. The lines get long, though. read more

I used to come to this establishment frequently many years ago and it was great. Quick and friendly service, but now the service is horrendous. I ordered an all seed bagel with herb cream cheese not toasted and it took 15 minutes to get it, it would take less than 2 minutes when I was in high school. Basic bagel type menu items. Some sandwiches are better than others. I suggest just a bagel with cream cheese. Can't go wrong. The sandwich items are over priced for the sparse amount of ingredients they put in. My biggest gripe is the soda machine. It doesn't matter which soda I get, it always tastes "moldy." I've worked in food service jobs and it's important to clean the soda machine spouts on a weekly basis (actually break down each spout and clean them with a soft brush and dish soap with bleach. If I could I would give it NO STARS. Very disappointed and mad. My sister asks for 2 all seed bagels with cream cheese, and I had stated after if she could make one of them WITH strawberry jam. She said "so do you want strawberry cream cheese or strawberry jam?" I said "jam" . We proceed with the order and are waiting to be called and the same person who took our order asked me again if I wanted strawberry cream cheese or strawberry jam and I said jam. I miss this place. I used to come here all the time when I was teaching in Salinas. They hook it up on the sandwiches (fresh ingredients and lots of toppings) and they have some pretty good lunch deals too. Their soups are to die for as well. I am pretty picky with what bagels I eat, and The Bagel Corner looks like your usual strip mall shop- nothing special. However, once I took a bite of my toasted Italian herb bagel with fresh avocados sandwiched in between, my tastebuds were delighted, my stomach was happy, and I was pleasantly surprised by the great flavor, texture and freshness. I shouldn't be surprised by the perfection and freshness of the avocado, but I have to say I was because the inside of this place does not do it any favors. But this place is so good! A wide variety of bagels- the basics plus some more unique options like Italian herb and triple berry. This is a wonderful place and great, fresh food, lots of choices! We have always enjoyed the employees and service. However, on a recent visit for a take-out, there were two customers at their tables, no one in line. 5 employees and all had backs to us and no greeting, no smiling, no friendliness. Our order was not anything out of the ordinary yet they asked us 4 or 5 times what ingredients we wanted. They took quite some time to complete the order. Only 2 people came in about half-way through our order..they were not greeted either. Finally, an unsmiling employee called our number and told us the sandwich in top box was my husband's. No thank you, see you again. At home, the top boxed bagel was mine, had missing ingredients as was the 2nd one. They were fresh and delicious, yet somewhat of a let down on this visit. I come here for breakfast/lunch every once in a while. Bagels are always fresh, service is fast and friendly. I've tried many of their menu items, such as the Santa Fe, the Club, and the egg and cheese bagel. They are decent for the most part, maybe a little pricey, so I tend to just stick with cream cheese haha. I'm taking off a star for their coffee, which is sub par (7eleven quality).
