I have been to The Bagelry more times than I can count for 20 years. It's consistent, delicious, and the prices are beyond reasonable. Where else can you get a fresh, delicious meal for $2 and change (besides fast food)? My kids were Einstein fans for years and it was difficult to convert them to fresh, authentic bagels - the kind I had in Detroit when I was visiting my grandparents. This place used to have two things going for it: great bagels and a vibrant atmosphere that made you feel like you were part of a community. Now the bagels are puffy and soft. Mine actually compressed when I bit into it and popped back up when I put it down. Fine if you like Wonder Bread. And there is no one there at lunchtime on a Friday. The Bagelry in Evergreen was a surprise stop this morning on a motorcycle pitstop on the way to Echo Lake. I knew we were gonna stop somewhere in the area and rode right past and caught it in the corner of my eye so I turned all the bikes around and we stopped to enjoy some local flavor. Flavor indeed, as the place was nice to walk into and smelled delishes! Definitely lots to choose from on the chalk board menu on the wall. I decided on the Breakfast Supreme Breakfast bagel with scallions and a cup of drip coffee. A great choice as the portion was large and well proportioned with all the layers of goodness. The drip coffee was excellent with lots of honey and cream. All other breakfast bagels were equally as good across the board. A definite stop again when I'm in the area ! read more

Extremely rude employees spending more time chit chatting with each other than showing any concern for their jobs. When they're yelling back and forth with each other while "interrupting" their conversation to ask questions about your order or take your payment it is extremely awkward. Also had a barista ask me how I wanted my chai because "I don't drink any of this crap so I have to ask" and then "That looks fine" after pouring milk over the top. Even if the food was extremely excellent it'd be hard to overlook the poor customer service, but it's mediocre anyways so no reason to come back. read more

Unfortunately this place has gone down hill, in a big way. The entire place is FILTHY - the kitchen is filthy and there are layers of grime and garbage strewed around on the floors everywhere. The bathroom DISGUSTINGLY FILTHY! The phone system is down, the computer system is down, many food items are out of stock or are not fresh. I used to really enjoy this place for coffee and a snack. Recently the service has been terrible and I think I will find another place to go. This past visit, four young women were behind the counter and only one seemed to care at all about serving customers. Definitely sad to see where this gem has gone. I grew up going to the Bagelry and even worked there for several summers when I was younger. I got a bagel yesterday morning and it wasn't toasted, the cheese wasn't melted, and my Canadian bacon was cold. In the past they used to always toast your bagel, make sure the Canadian bacon was at least heated up and when they handed it to you it was always piping hot. Also there was one option for coffee, they got rid of all the Dazbog coffee and espresso. The place just didn't feel like a comfortable place to be in anymore and half of the walls were empty. I used to get bagels in South Beach and Ft Lauderdale at little Jewish delis and they were incredible. I love good, fresh bagels. Imagine my surprise when I found a wonderfuly Bagelry in Bergen Park that served up fresh bagels that could easily compete with the real deal from a Jewish deli. Very gnoshable. The Bagelry had been a normal stop for me for 5 years now and i do like some of their bagels quite a bit (although Costco carries Einstein bagels now, so I go there), but i go less and less as my negative experiences tally up. Too consistently does it seem that they hire rude highschool girls, attractive ones (I'm betting the owner is a male), but usually rude. Today I went and, although the first girl wasn't overtly rude, when I told her I bought a sandwich that was supposed to come with salsa and i didn't receive it she told me that, "people don't usually want it so I don't give it out.." Yeah, but it's on the menu, I guess I should do my due diligence before I get home/work, but usually one is looking for accidentally forgotten things, not intentionally withheld items. Next time, I forgot to ask for salsa again, or look for it, and it wasn't there. When I called to ask again about it, a young man told me that I wasn't supposed to get it and should have asked. "Is it on the menu?" I asked, "uh, I guess so but that's not how we do things here, our regulars know that." He flatly put. Ok, thanks. I prefer businesses that give you what ya pay for and don't deal out snide remarks. The coffee is Daz Bog. Not my favorite, but my partner likes it so we buy it. If you like these bagels, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? Honestly, have you ever had a proper bagel? ***(by the way, anyone know why this place has two listings on Yelp?)*** "Bagelry" bagels are the worst. They are lopsided, lumpy, randomly sized, undercooked globs of dough. I wish I had taken a picture last time I was there, it was a horror show in the glass case. The bakers obviously do not care or they would make their bagel round, approximately equal in size, and bake them a few extra minutes. They might not be as characterless as grocery store "bagels" which are not even bagels. I repeat - these are the WORST BAGELS. Am I a bagel snob? OK, I admit it. But I grew up in the Northeast, and I was a bagel dough-boy for a short stint. The dough forming machines are a bit twitchy, but if you pay attention and CARE ABOUT YOUR PRODUCT, you can adjust the machine, hand form the ones that aren't perfect, and reject the ones that can't be saved. Instead, these guys just boil whatever comes out no matter how deformed or mis-sized they are. In case you are wondering, I AM an occasional customer, as they serve Dazbog coffee which is very good. Of course, they are either out of coffee or out of cream about half of the times that I stop in. So they get 2 stars for usually having coffee, and when they do it is good. Since the new ownership, I haven't liked visiting The Bagelry anymore. The food has gotten sloppy and unpleasant. Employee's are rude and don't give their time to the customers like they should. The employees seem like they don't like to help customers...in fact, when I went in yesterday, the employees were all in the back for about 10 minutes and no one helped. I ended up leaving because I waited so long and I believe that was very unprofessional. Food has gotten worse, and The Bagelry is going down a downward path. I come into this place every morning. My favorite thing to order is the 14er. I enjoy coming to this place because i am always greeted with a smile from the friendly people who work here. They are always super fast with getting my order done. The girl that has tattoos and piercing always makes sure to stop and tell me to have a good day. Wow Sunday morn is crazy here! I didn't feel like I had enuf time to really get a feel for this place. The bagels were great! I like chewyer bagels. One bummer tho was when my sandwich was handed to me it had 1000 island dressing on it. The other sandwich foil had opened up on the drive home. Those r just being picky tho. Food was great. They use Dazbog coffee as well so if u like Dazbog this is the place for u. One tip: chk the menu online before u go. It's hard to see the menu if u r in line. The bagels are awesome for sure! I don't like the microwaved eggs which by nature is just gross. Last time I was in the back sink area door was open and you could smell what seemed like a backed up drain. Super gross! If a health inspector came in with that smell coming off the sink I think it would be shut down until this was corrected. I hope it is corrected soon because I like this place! read more

This used to be a great place, I've been going since it first opened. Yesterday I had a breakfast bagle that was terrible. fake eggs microwaved, cheese that was like gum and could not get off my teeth, and a bagle that tasted stale. the entire place now smells like urine for some reason, very disgusting. It is as if someone raised a puppy there recently. I suspect they will be out of business soon. the Evergreen Bread Lounge is not far away and has amazing service, food, and even serves beer and wine. So sad to see the Bagelry go down in flames, but really it is not being managed professionally and the secret bagel recipe must have been stolen. read more
