Reasonable 30-minute pick up time for two large pizzas: one w mushrooms the other white pizza w/ chicken. We bought pizza from them before but in our recent pizza orders, hands down one of the best pizzas i've tasted. I've ordered from them some time ago. I think they've tweaked their recipe thinned out the crust. The sauce, omg. Delish! The white pizza my husband absolutely digs, but for me the regular pizza w red sauce, loved it! Alright, I've passed this place hundreds of times. I pull In tonight and the lady was nice about it, but said, it's gonna be a very LONG wait. ....... Like really. If they get that much business it didn't look like it. But as an Italian ..... I was looking forward to tryin it out after look at the menu . But dayum really???? Visited Ocean View for the day and we craved some pizza. Saw the New York Pizzaria and gave it a try. Something pulled us to a veggie calzone so we tried it. It was delicious. Maybe the vegetables were fire roasted, I don't know. I do know they were incredibly tasty. We were greeted with a smile and the hostess was kind and courteous. The whole experience was great. There's not much to like here. The dining area is austere. Unfriendly service. The pizza tastes like cardboard with cheese on top. The large pizza says it's $22.99 but I was charged $26.99, which is a 17.4% tax??? I couldn't even get a receipt because their machine doesn't print. I have no idea why this place is rated so highly. Service was excellent, the lady at the counter was so nice and helpful. The pizza was great love both the Hawaiian and Greek but the Greek was definitely my favorite. The crust could have been fluffier and more, it was thin and oily. Ambiance was ok it's like a little pizza store you stop in real quick and eat your pie and go. read more

I wanted to try a new pizza place and this one is pretty close by so why not? I went the simple route and just ordered a large pizza half cheese and half pepperoni with an order of garlic knots. The garlic knots were soft but you barely taste the garlic and the pizza was ok. I wanted to love it and it wasn't bad, but I guess I was hoping for something more. Oh did I want to love this place. The OV area of Norfolk is close to a restaurant desert, with several mediocre places (and a few shining stars). So when a NY style pizza joint opened up 2 weeks ago, close to the house, I couldn't wait to try it. It's a small restaurant - 7 tables inside. Since the tables were empty, we decided to eat in. You have to walk up to the counter to place your order. No big deal, we did, and while the girl at the register was nice, it was like she wasn't really listening. I ordered a side salad (with blue cheese) and Hubby tried to order a side Caesar. Nope, they don't do that - only the large size. Ok, so he said he'd take that. She then asked if he wanted Caesar dressing on his side salad. Nope - he wants the full one. Honestly though, if you make a full size, why not have a side on the menu as well? We also ordered garlic knots and a medium pizza with extra cheese and half pepperoni. As others have said, the only drinks are canned sodas, bottled water and 2 liters. We grabbed a couple of sodas and took a seat. Another couple walked in after us and asked for sweet tea. Nope. Hopefully they will invest in a tea maker in the future as they grow. We seemed to be sitting there for longer than expected, thinking how long does it take to make salads, when the girl up front called our name. The mystery was solved. She rang us in as a to go order, and everything was packaged up together. Oh well, we decided to take it home (it was rather warm in there anyway). The nice surprise was the side salad. This one is loaded with lots of fresh veggies - tomatoes, green peppers, cheese, croutons and even mushrooms. Hubby did get his full sized Caesar, but the dressings for each were pretty average. Pretty sure they aren't making their own. The garlic knots were huge, though more like rolls, but they were a little over cooked and crunchy. They also lacked flavor - we couldn't taste the garlic really at all. They were so dry, I added olive oil to them (good thing we were at home). The pizza itself is NY style with the chewy crust done just right. I was a little shocked at the lack of cheese (we always order extra cheese), so we checked the ticket attached to the bag and sure enough - she didn't ring in the extra cheese. Like I said, I want to love this place, especially since it is so close to the house and not a chain. We're going to chalk this one up to opening jitters (they've only been open 2 weeks). We will definitely give them a try again and hope for better results. One big suggestion, though - the menu is pretty big. I hope they stick to what they seem to know - pizza, salads and Italian dishes (can't wait to try those!), and leave out the burgers, fries and onion rings. read more

No 5 stars here. (10 stars) customer service greeted with a smile and answered any questions we had. Excellent customer service. Then we got the food. Normally smaller pizzas not 18" inch taste like a little Ceasars pizza. Not here. Pizza was excellent n loaded with topping. From the service to the cook to the food excellent. Hands down good place to eat. Everyone should eat here. Thank you for a excellent lunch. read more

Very solid new pizza spot in OV. Nice, thin and foldable slices. I really enjoyed their pepperoni pie and have ordered multiple times for takeout. My only criticism is I would avoid their sausage topping. I ordered it the first time, and it is small and crumbly and tastes more of breakfast sausage than Italian sausage. However, avoid that topping and you will get an excellent pizza. read more

NY style pizza in OV. And you can get slices!! The pizzeria on Maple Ave is finally open. Stopped by on my lunch break today. They have a 2 slice and a drink special. $6 if you want toppings $5 for cheese. Drinks are canned Pepsi products. Was way to hungry to take a pic of my slices. But as expected. Super thin NY crust. Foldable slices. Just the right about of sauce. On point. Service was quick and guys working were nice. Menu has a lot of things other than pizza and the location is super close to my house so I will definitely be returning to try other things. read more

Great pizza at a great price! I was looking for a local place for something great, and stumbled across this gem in Norfolk! I had the Bianca Florentine, a sauce-less option. Three indicators of a great pizza are crust, cheese and sauce, but I won't be able to rank the sauce, sorry! The crust was a 5-star crust for sure, sometimes New York style pizza lacks structure, but this was a perfect consistency! And the cheese was the best, mixed fresh mozzarella, regular mozzarella, and a Parmesan combination, really great. On this stormy evening, the location seemed a little dark and desolate, so I ordered and then went and waited in the car, then they brought out my pizza to my car, in the rain! Thanks! Less than 24 hours ago, I luckily obtained the chance to order a large style deluxe pizza (pepperoni sausage bell peppers mushrooms) and garlic knots from the Norfolk Virginia location of New York Pizzeria via delivery and ordering directly online from the online restaurant website for my husband and I (the delivery driver who delivered my food was polite/had a pleasant demeanor and they delivered the food within a reasonable timeframe). The food was delish and because of the generous size I still have leftover pizza and garlic knots to eat today andor tomorrow. read more

I was visiting from out of town and wanted pizza. I'm not sure why this plan was listed as #1 -- it was good but certainly not the best. I ordered a small veggie pizza and added pepperoni and sausage, a side salad and garlic knots-- more than enough food for 2. The salad was very small but delicious. The bread was tasty but dense, not bad, but heavy. The pizza dough was also very dense. I like a sweet sauce and an airy dough-- this pizza was heavy!! Tons of toppings, extra cheesy but the sauce is so so and the dough is definitely missing something. I'm from California so maybe that's how New York pizza is supposed to be? read more

I'm happy to give this tiny pizza joint a three star rating. I will absolutely be be back as they continue to grow and get better. I ordered three items from the large menu. The Pizza Bianca: which on the menu should state has fresh spinach and fresh tomato and freshly cooked chicken. It was so good! Stand alone, I would have given it a four. I also ordered the Philly Cheese Steak: We all know there's only one place for a cheese steak in Norfolk. Well they now have competition with a white cheese version. Excellent! Finally I ordered the Chicken Wings spicy: The sauce is thin and lacks any attempt outside of opening the bottle and the Ranch dressing has zero flavor. It tastes like light mayonnaise and the wings were a little undercooked. But I'm with Meatloaf on this one "Two out of three ain't bad.." Pizza was okay light on the toppings but the garlic knots were terrible burnt dry and the sauce was tomato juice.

Not good. I had high hopes for trying this place out because some reviews say it's good but it's not. It's bland and the crust so dry and powdery. I paid $48 for two large pizzas and and an appetizer. The taste isn't comparable to the price of this place. The workers seem super nice so I hate to write this review but I have to be honest. Customer service wasn't bad. Not sure how the pizza taste because it was $15 for a small so I didn't order that, but I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and an antipasto salad. Highly disappointed. I'm back for another review. (The Food Devotee) This time it's New York Pizzeria. When it comes to pizza of course it's all about different strokes for different folks. My grandson prefers 7&11 pizza over all others. Yeah I know but what can I say. Well I received my pepperoni Pizza and the smell was heavenly. I opened the box and the first thing I noticed was the slight browning uniformity on the pizza. Also no excessive pooling of oil on top of the cheese. I took a bite and it was great! Definitely a New York taste in the crust which was top notch. Pizza was not too salty like some pizzas. The cheese, sauce and pepperoni was also good. Pizza does have that New York flavor. In my opinion the Pizza was very good and I would say that makes their Pizza a contender in the Pizza world. P.S. Pizza did not have the extra cheese and it was barely warm. There was no taste. The Philly meat was ok but as a whole sandwich it lacked taste and not really thrilling. Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken lacked flavor and sauce. If you have kids say "next time let's stick with dominoes " that says something. read more
