Only thing they seemed to have was sweets but I saw others with savory items. Secret menu? The girl at the register seemed like she was doing me a favor and pretended like there was no other menu. Desserts were ok but nothing extraordinarily different from any other bakery. Also their schedule is weird and they're often closed. I absolutely love the Baklava lady!! They are a fully vegan establishment and they show up with amazing flavors. Their baked goods are out of this world. They also have gluten free options which are great. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. It is a very small establishment so there can often be a wait for a table. My favorite meal is the kofte wrap. The flavors and combination of veggies and vegan "sausage" are some of the best out there. They can also substitute a gluten free wrap for those with dietary restrictions and they take allergies seriously. The breakfast board is also a great tasty option to get a bit of variety with olives, vegan cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, and a pita-like bread. For the baked goods, the menu changes by the day so there's always new things to try. They will sometimes have donuts which are my absolute favorite when they are in stock. My favorite baked goods in their rotation are the pistachio donut and the pistachio rose cake. They also do custom cakes if you are ordering for an event. read more

I love this place! It's my favorite cafe of all time and i can't recommend it enough! It's only open fridays and weekends but it's usually a bustling place with limited seating (though that's only because it can get busy around lunch time)! This turkish cafe makes absolutely DELICIOUS food, ive ordered almost everything on the menu and nothing has ever disappointed! Highly recommend the turkish breakfast board if you're dining in and to browse the baked goods area for what's new. They change up the menu every few weeks so there's always something exciting on the specials menu or in the display case. Also, you'll never get a better pistachio matcha latte than you can get here The staff is so nice and very prompt in serving and cleaning up to make the ambiance of this place feel quaint and cozy for every guest and help you get seated as soon as possible. Had been curious about this place for a long time but never managed to visit while they were open. Finally made it in, and was not disappointed. The Graveyard Latte and Baklava Latte were both outstanding--the pistachio and honey flavors really came through. Also tried two of the baklavas and the chocolate chip cookie. No misses. And this is a TRUE small business that serves quality, homemade food that happens to be plant based and I will say it doesn't matter if you're vegan or not, you will not regret trying anything on their menu! I've tried the steak+peppers with mac and cheese w/ cornbread, kofte platter, cinnamon donut, almond biscotti, lentil soup, and chickpea tuna sandwich as well as their specialty drinks like the tahini iced latte. We stepped up to the counter and ordered the daily special of Lentil Soup that came with slices of delicious homemade bread and had what I believe was a light coating of olive oil and spices that complemented the homemade soup made from scratch that was as good as my Nonna's soups, my gold standard . We also ordered avocado toast, which was scrumptious. For dessert we ordered the pistachio latte with pistachio baklava: both were sublime. We also ordered the orange cupcake that had rose petals sprinkled on top, which was amazing, and very tasty Turkish coffee, which came in a tiny espresso cup and came with a Turkish confection sprinkled with chopped pistachios. The ambiance is eclectic Turkish tea room, and it is warm and homey. I overheard a fellow patron say it is like Cheers, where everyone knows your name. Cozy and certainly small bakery/coffee shop to enjoy some amazing bakery goods and their wide assortment of coffees and teas. They are well known for their vegan goods, especially their baklavas. The atmosphere is fairly quiet with limited seating, so sometimes it may be hard to dine in. They have a bench with few seats and couple tables at most. Super friendly staff that took care of you and even come up to take away your dishes when you're finished eating. They have one unisex small bathroom, but kept very clean, so well done for maintaining their facilities. The only down side is parking. It is limited, there is a small lot in the back, but you might end up parking on the street. read more

What a delightful cafe! Stopped by for a few hours on a Sunday to get some work done and had a great experience. I ordered an iced pistachio matcha, which was well balanced and tasty - not too sweet or artificial tasting. Oat milk is their default, which is a plus! - 5/5 I also got a kofte wrap, which was a little over-filled with cucumber and tomato, but it was so fresh that I didn't really mind the mess. The kofte was well seasoned and the pita was warm and fresh - 4/5 overall I also got a hot orange blossom latte, which was an unexpected but tasty combination! There was a slight aftertaste of bitterness, but it was perfect with a few sugar cubes - 4.5/5 Finally, I got a baklava cupcake, which was so pretty I almost didn't want to eat it. The pink buttercream frosting was super fluffy, and the cake was sweet and moist. It was a little sweet for my taste, but then again, I'm not a huge sweets person. Alright let talk about this spot. Only open Friday through Sunday, super tiny inside, but has some seating outside. Parking is a challenge at best. Ambiance was pleasant and inviting. This is the 2nd time my hubby and I have been here and it's just as good as I remember. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. The pistachio latte is amazing! I'm obsessed with this place. The cutest decor and most welcoming environment. The staff was kind and service was quick. I felt spoiled for choice as a dairy-free person. There were so many yummy desserts and savory options. We tried the manakeesh and the pistachio raspberry "birds nest" pastry. Both 10/10. We also really enjoyed our iced cardamom lattes. It's an uncommon flavor that I really enjoy. I do wish I could taste the cardamom more. Their drinks are made with oat milk by default but they also have almond and soy. Who knew this treasure of a place was so close to Monroe Twp.!! After yoga, my friend and I decided to stop by for a quick snack. We had no clue what we were walking into. It was quite busy in there on a Sunday morning which makes sense as they are only open three days a week. While my friend stood in line, I was able to scope out the other cooler to make sure I was saw all my options before ordering. I got the pistachio baklava and the apple cider latte. The baklava was delicious - nutty and sweet. My drink tasted like coffee, nothing really stood out. We sat down to drink our drinks and saw the red like stew at the table next to ours. It looked so good I decided I had to go order it! And boy, I am glad I did because it hit the spot! It was served at the perfect temperature and was such a light meal after exercising. The bread was warm, toasty and the perfect vessel to dip in the stew. I thought the stew lacked a bit of salt but when you eat an olive afterwards it balanced out nicely. Most recently, Hubby and I have been looking for a vegan dining options that prioritize quality ingredients and taste over flashy presentations. I heard about The Baklava Lady for a while now but did not realize they a) serve more than just Baklava b) they are 100% vegan with all their entrees, desserts, and drinks and finally c) they offer Mediterranean food! With great trepidation, I went and was blown over at how good their specials were. We've gone back and ordered some other items, both on their specialty board and a few that are considered their "regular" dishes. Everything is freshly made and the service is exceptional. Quality ingredients, beautifully plated, exceptional both visually and edible. A winner across the board. The only thing I could find fault with them is that they are only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at limited hours. Is that really that bad? No, because if they are that good, they can afford to be more selective and will serve only the freshest items and not try to move any dishes along because it has been there for an overextended period of time. Found this place on line while searching for something else and knew immediately I had to go. Did I drive an hour out of the way? Yes. Did I spend a truck load of money on snacks I didn't need? Of course. Did then drive them very carefully home to N.C.? Yep. Did I invite friends to come over and eat them? Sharing is caring so you know I did. Did we feast on the most delicious baklava and pastries I have had in a long time? Omg we sure did! Pistachio baklava was wonderful. The baklava custard was everything I thought it would be. Nice creamy custard while still maintaining some texture to the dough. Raspberry pastry was delicious and well balanced. We got a couple other goodies that I don't remember the name of but they were also very enjoyable. The food is just amazing. Having so many 100% vegan options is such a luxury, and them tasting absolutely incredible is a huge bonus. As the bell jingles upon opening the door, I knew I was going to love everything about this bakery and cafe. We placed our order while we waited. It was a pleasure to wait for a table to open with my pistachio matcha in my hand. The wait wasn't long. The chocolate hazelnut baklava was heaven. The lentil soup was so smooth and filling. My husband ordered the smashed avocado dish. I swear there were at least ten avocados used to make it. My son ordered the strawberry waffles. The vegan whip cream was a huge hit! My other son ordered the hummus plate. Just remember the olives have a pit! It felt like we were in someone's home. Lots of love in everything. Typically, I find baklava to be super sugary. Not here! It's sweetened at a proper level and where one can enjoy the nutty goodness sandwiched between layers of flaky layers of buttery vegan phyllo. Indoor and outdoor seating is available but is limited and can be a nuance. Place your order at the counter, pay and a numbered card stand is given to you. Only some places turn out as expected but only few exceed expectations. This find was the latter . Found this in my Google search and decided to take a plunge . How good can a Vegan Turkish Bakery be? Well, turns out it's too good and I still can't stop thinking about the desserts I tasted the others I missed ! Burger , wrap , sandwiches, small eats baked goods , desserts and mind blowing Turkish coffee. Tuna chickpea burger was unique and gave the mouthfeel of having a tuna salad . Kefte Wrap was another classic meatball wrap but all vegan - Fresh , crispy, meaty yummy ... I am drooling just describing it. This is a must try . The pistachio custard baklava was a perfect end to the meal , light , creamy not too sweet loaded with pistachios. And I picked up the orange Semolina cake to go. Before i knew it the box was opened and the cake was delicately sliced and placed in my mouth ... as pretty as it looked , it tasted even more divine . I couldn't get enough of it. What a sumptuous light hearty meal !! Enjoyed the Turkish pistachio coffee with the little Turkish rose candy. Creamy coffee with oat milk , with the perfect punch of coffee. A delightful brunch experience, The Baklava lady hit the spot! The staff were pleasant. Even without a reservation, they graciously were able to accommodate me. The choices were great. I decided on the Turkish Breakfast. It was a perfect choice. I also ordered Turkish tea which was delicious with the right hint of spice and bold flavor. I visited The Baklava Lady earlier this fall, and had a lovely brunch at one of their outdoor tables. I'd been following them on Instagram for a long time, wanting to eat everything they posted and eagerly awaiting the day we could finally make the drive out there for their vegan Turkish food. Our meal there surpassed all my expectations, and it's just an excellent restaurant, whether you're vegan or not. Everything was fantastic, and if you didn't know that they were vegan, you might not even be able to tell the difference. The sausage, egg, and cheese borek made good use of vegan meat, egg, and cheese substitutes, and the kofte wrap came with a generous portion of salad on top of well-flavored "meat." I would highly recommend either (or one of the many other borek). But my favorite thing we ordered was the Turkish breakfast board, which came with simit, housemade butter and jam, olives, feta cheese, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Each element was delicious on its own, and I don't know what the vegan butter and feta were made of, but they were fairly close to their non-vegan counterparts. I think I would get this on every visit, and I found myself wishing we lived closer so we could indulge in this platter (and everything else) more often. We finished off the meal with a fluffy apple cider donut, and it was the perfect sweet treat. I wish we had been able to try some of the other cakes and cookies, but we were pretty full from lunch.
