Had lunch at about 12:15pm on a Thursday wasn't too busy until closer to one. Food came out fairly quickly. Very clean open seating area. Staff was attentive and friendly. Let's get into the batter seasoning used...ITS DELICIOUS. Hardly need the sauces (they were tasty too) Everything was absolutely delightful. Honorable mention: fries. Absolutely perfect.

Our first visit to Bantam was quite exciting. Parking was fairly easy and they had a smoker in front of the restaurant. The menu was creative with lots of flavorful options. The interior is rustic which you would expect from a bbq joint but plenty of tables inside Our first trip resulted in a fantastic Tri Tip French dip that was so juicy I didn't need to use the Au Jus and the toasted bun brought it home! The Carolina Cuban had pork shoulder that was very dry making the sandwich not so good. With beer and wine and that French dip...we came back. Our second and third trips were disappointing as the food was generally overcooked and uneventful. Service is generally slow as they keep their wait staff thin. With two bad experiences in a row, we just can't risk going back with so many good options in town.

We were craving fried green tomatoes and this place does not disappoint! After a long walk in the garden of lights, this was a nice sit down to relax with southern comfort food. The server was very nice, given we were there almost during closing on a really cold night. We recommend!

Cute little rustic eatery. The service was great. The Cajun fries are very good. Mac and cheese is creamy. The catfish po boy was cooked to perfection. The chicken sandwiches are large and crispy. They make their pickles homemade. The prices are high.

Came here with my wife and daughter for dinner. Owner and staff were super friendly and welcoming. We have a daughter with special needs and she can get loud. Well, that wasn't a problem for the staff. Next, the food was incredible. We had the smoked brisket nachos to start. I've never had good BBQ in California, but this brisket was up there with some of the best meat I've had in Texas! Every bite was amazing. We also had a burger and fries. Both were hot, fresh and large. We would gladly recommend this place. Worth the drive out of the center of town.

Back here again. They added a fried green tomato BLT! My wife always ordered a special order very much like this, sans the bacon. She loves this addition. So I took her bacon for my burger. It's really nice to have a good old fat burger for a change from the smash burger craze. They do make smash burgers here too. Always excellent food, service and cocktails. I pass on the beers tonight...much to my delight. We dine at a happy hour time/ old folks. Less crowds, preferred seating and again, always excellent service.

We both had the Southwest Chicken Salad for lunch and were really surprised with the flavor and texture of the chicken. It was plenty of food and more than help us over for dinner and would order again for sure. The outside is not much to look and but the inside has a very nice feel to it with really good service to top it off.

The food was good, specializing in Cajun spices, and fun flavored milkshakes. The peach and chicken salad is a winner. The ambiance is ok, not much going on there. The location probably attracts locals from the countryside bc it is not near the freeway or shopping centers. The bathroom is very old and smelled of old paint and sewer. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and provided great service.

Immediately as we walked in, the staff members were very welcoming and led us to our table. The waiter and hostess were very courteous and recommended the burgers that we selected. This was our first time at the restaurant, so we ordered burgers, Mac n cheese and their peach cheesecake. Everything was delicious! If you're ever traveling by this place, make sure to try it out. They also have great 80s music playing in the background (at least while we were there). They also recommended for us to try their homemade ranch dressing, hot sauce and bbq sauce. They were excellent!

The Bantam Kitchen and Cooler is one of the best restaurants in all of Northern California--and without a doubt, in the top two here in Redding, California. It's located right across the street from a good, old-school American veteran bar, The Hen House--a place I'm quite fond of. There's a young lady behind the bar who is also the manager on duty when the owner is not present, Kari--and she's excellent. The chef, Ian, cooks with love, magic, heart, and soul in every single dish he prepares. You can taste the care. Tonight, while enjoying some red wine, I met patrons who came from Shingletown, Red Bluff, and all kinds of places just to eat here. That says something. The quality is top-notch--something you just don't normally find in Redding. And I love this city, so when I say that, it means something.

About 15 taps on the wall if you're feeling beer. Ordered a blackened shrimp po boy with a side salad. The shrimp was fresh and have just the perfect amount of heat with the sauce. The peach vinaigrette dressing was a pleasant surprise with the salad. read more

After a morning at Shasta Caverns our party was in the mood for a hearty lunch with a variety of tastes in mind. We selected Bantam based on reviews and it did not disappoint! Our server was working her tail off so service wasn't fast but we didn't mind. The food was so delicious! I enjoyed the Cowboy Nachos and I would not change a thing about them! I especially loved the crema topping! The pork was perfectly seasoned and the flour tortilla chips were a good twist. Other items ordered in our party included the Mac&cheese with pork, pimento cheeseburger, po' boy sandwich, the blacken shrimp salad, and the red, white, and blue burger special for the 4th of July. Every thing was handmade right down to the pickles and onion jam! The kids enjoyed the chicken strips and fries but they are not the typical frozen and fried strips. These were pieces of hand cut and battered chicken! The portions were huge! Don't miss this gem! We will be back next time we are in Redding!! read more

Fun menu with a lot of personality. This place is not your typical Redding bar food menu with beers on tap. The Cajun/Southern influence is present in every menu item which equals flavor packed in every bite. The service was friendly and the staff made solid suggestions for our first visit. The atmosphere is comfortable with a sports station playing on the TV and music playing in the background. Do yourself a favor and give the Shrimp and Grits a try. Just the right amount of blackened spice counterbalanced by the rich creamy goodness of the grits. Portion size was just right. Any more and I would have hurt myself trying to finish it all up. read more

Wow! I had the fried chicken wrap today and it blew past my expectations. The fried chicken was perfect and the cabbage added a great crunch. Not greasy or too saucy. It was satisfying and filling but didn't feel heavy. Could have easily saved half the wrap as a second meal, but was enjoying it too much to stop. Great selection of beers on tap and very friendly, helpful service. Can't wait to see this locally owned place grow. read more

We went for lunch, it happened to be Tuesday so we ordered tacos. Those were the worst tacos I ever had. The tacos with blackened catfish, had a tiny piece of fish and a few pieces of cabbage on a thick tortilla; the shrimp tacos had 3 small shrimps; they had no sauce, no salsa on any of them. Totally flavorless; a BIG RIP OFF for $5 apiece! One of us had a chicken sandwich and he liked it. So, maybe the other items on the menu are better choice ? read more

No doubt, this place is good. Solid beer selection, Cajun style dishes, friendly staff. My friends LOVE this place. My husband really likes this place. And I think it's good. For me, the dishes have been hit or miss. Everything is pretty solid, but some dishes are really good. Take the chicken sandwich for example, I LOVE hot and spicy foods but their Nashville hot version was mostly just fire hot to the point of overwhelming all the other flavors. Again, I love hot foods but the hotness shouldn't over take the flavor. On the other end of the spectrum, the brisket nachos are out of this world delicious. I could eat them every day. Will I go here again? definitely. Even though I didn't love all the dishes, I love the creativity they are serving up! With rotating specials, I'm sure they'll fully win me over sooner or later. My tip? You can't go wrong with the nachos. read more

Looks just like a bar from the exterior and something that could be just driven by. The service was great the two visits I have been. The Carolina Cuban is a must! The North Carolina sauce was delicious! BBQ sauce was great as well. Everything tasted fresh and to be southern food and not be greasy is great! The Mac & Cheese add Fried Chicken was GREAT! The Ranch Bird the first visit was off the charts good. I can't tell people enough it is great to have something of this caliber in Redding. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu. Keep up the excellent service and food!!! read more

Overall: (I recommend going) this place is quite good and well worth your time. After a long day hiking in Lassen, you'll find a great selection of beers and brews ranging from light and refreshing to bold and filling. Their menu is unique and ever changing, but the soup of their options are very, very good. Prices are quite reasonable. Service: indoor and outdoor options allow maximized space during corona-madness. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Expect the server to quote you the daily menu options as they are not passing out menus due to corona-madness. Timeliness: everything we ordered was super prompt. Ambiance: the feel of the place is a little bland; they seem to be going for a Southern BBQ joint vibe, but they don't quite have enough random shit on the walls. Location: a little off the beaten path, but not difficult to find with google maps. It is attached to some kind of storage facility. Parking: two distinct parking areas in either side of the storefront. You can gain access to either by driving around through the industrial lots (you'll understand if you go). Prices: reasonable. Good food and drink for two was under $40 Recommendation: I enjoyed this place. I suggest you try it, I doubt you'll be disappointed. read more

Great addition to the local food scene!! Enjoyed the Fried Chicken sandwich with amazing Cajun spiced French Fries! My wive loved her Fried Chicken wrap with awesome fresh and crunchy coleslawserved with a refreshing hard kombucha. Hell ya delicious was the theme! Hit the Sunday Bruch and build your own breakfast. Tip the biscuits and gravy are spot onmust have item for sure. Great service and friendly staff! We can't wait to try more of this little gems menu. read more

I love this place I've had it a couple times and they're pulled pork tacos were a 10 out of 10 amazing. Their catfish was definitely a three out of 10 not the best. The quality of catfish just was not good. But other than that I love this place and the service is very friendly. read more

The Nashville hot chicken sandwich - wow - I loved it. If I had anything to say, it would only to be able to choose a spice level on the hot chicken sandwich - I am a totally capsaicin junky - so a hotter - hot chicken sandwich would have been completely ok with me. I do understand, however, that I am not the "normal" person so it's hard to make adjustments for a uncommon variance. The corn salad was awesome - the space was clean and the atmosphere was fun. I think it's a gem and I can't wait to go back - I heard that the tacos were very good too - FYI. read more

Ordered brisket and pork shoulder tacos. The tacos themselves were delicious and the inside of the restaurant is pretty well designed. More of a bar than I thought. Menu changes everyday so I'll probably come back for more. My only complaint is to not judge your customer's orders. I ordered the tacos plain for my own reasons and I got a judgemental tone of "Are you sure? Not even on the side? Just tortilla and protein?" Yes. I don't want the hipster toppings. read more

Was literally just passing through while in our way to Lake Tahoe. We had one place to stop and we are so lucky we picked this place. My first visit I had the Carolina Cuban. This time I went with the muffuletta sandwich. This place is a hidden gem packed with an absurd amount of good flavor. Shrimp and grits are Bomb... we each got an order to go to take care of dinner. Haven't had anything sub-par in this joint. Go in knowing you'll have a good experience! read more

It was nothing special, just your standard french toast with panko breading, but still yummy. We went here on a Sunday morning around 1030ish and while it was a bit busy, definitely wasn't overcrowded and they had no problem with seating us promptly. There's plenty of parking as well, so that wasn't an issue. I'll definitely plan on coming back if I'm ever in the Redding area and wanting breakfast/brunch.

I stopped by here and was blown away. The fried chicken sandwich was the star of the show. It was super flavorful and saucy, but the chicken still stayed nice and crunchy. For apps, we got the fried green tomatoes and cowboy nachos. The fried green tomatoes were really good, especially with the sauce. The cowboy nachos were a bit too salty for me, so I'd probably skip those next time. Overall, great spot and I'd definitely come back for that sandwich. Also, there seemed to be only one server working at the time, but she was amazing. She was super quick and on top of everything. I was honestly impressed with how good and fast the service was, especially considering she was the only one taking care of everyone. Definitely a great spot. This place is legit! The best southern food that I have ever had. Lightly breaded and well seasoned the friend green tomatoes were delish. We had the shrimp and grits which was my favorite. It was so rich. You must have. All dishes were fantastic but we also had their signature bbq sandwich, shrimp and grits, friend green tomatoes, side of catfish and side of fried chicken. This place is absolute fiyaaa!! We have been waiting for someone to have the guts to open a authentic Cajun restaurant in Redding and these guys have nailed it. I had the Shrimp po boy sandwich with a side of BBQ Shrimp along with the Hush Puppies and a Corn Dog. Everything was top to bottom amazing. I'm ready for more. Thank you Bantam Kitchen and Cooler.
