Beautiful and kind waitress named Mariel working here all the time. She is so kind and works very hard. I enjoy the Mediterranean platter and fish and chips here. A non-smoking restaurant/bar was 5 stars alone but I'll wait until I eat there a few more times before I give the food 5 stars. The interior is fresh, seating is comfortable, in booths or high-tops with a vintage coppertone tin ceiling, nice comtemporary colors and lighting with a small bar as you walk in. The menu was small but what they have on it is really unique, from Sweet potato fries and Fish Tacos to a New Orleans inspired Muffaletta sandwich and "Maurice Salad" with home made dressing just like they had at Hudson's. They even have a fried bologna sandwich with cheese! Well what we had were the Maurice salads and they were great, also my wife had a martini that was well made. We'll be back for more. read more

Fantastic! This non-smoking bar was clean, attractive, and had a great (small) menu. After walking in and sitting down in this low lit and dark wooded bar, I had one thought: If I was a local this would be my bar. It was so laid back and nearly empty and, mostly, extremely comfortable. The menu was small and that was a good thing. It seemed like they focused on what they knew and kept it simple. They even created a custom sandwich which I requested (making a cuban sandwich vegetarian with a bunch of custom additions). The food was solid and the prices were good. Three stars only because we came in on a busy saturday morning and watched while the only server (who was busting her butt to keep up, and doing a great job) got continuously busier and the owner sat at a table eating breakfast instead of helping her. The cook had to come out and help this poor server clear tables and refill coffees because the owner was clearly more interested in satisfying his appetite. My first visit to The Bar. Ride by here all the time & today I made it my lunch stop. Nice atmosphere, enjoyed their playlist. I ordered the Red-White & Blue Burger. It was a 1/2 pound of delight! Ask for extra napkins! Juicy & delicious & ordered it medium rare & it was cooked to perfection. Now the only reason I didn't give 5 Stars is the fact that I had my heart set on the Kitchen Made Key Lime Pie only to find out they were out of it! I'll return to try the Key Lime & if it is as good as Crystal says it is I'll return to my Yelp review & give them the fifth star. Speaking of Crystal... she is a great friendly, efficient waitress. This place has great food! The burgers are the best I have had in the area. The one with dried cherries in the burger and topped with blue cheese and bacon is my favorite. The sweet potato fries are a great side. The fries used to come with three sauces and I wish they still did. They also have great beers on tap all the time. The do breakfast on the weekends and that is very well done. The portions are huge so you can split a dish if you like. The only complaint I have about this place is the service, it is horrible. I have been here many times and the vast majority of the time I have had very poor service, even if the restaurant is 25% full. Plan on having to ask to get your water refilled, your order placed and your bill. And do not expect it with a smile! read more

Came in after the parade on July 4th and got a quick drink from the Mgr. Then was totally ignored by the woman who may have been the bartender (she cut fruit for a minute). After almost 30 minutes the Mgr came back and I asked for a menu. Ignored again...was going to go into the kitchen and order my own food! Other people were served food at the bar (they were there before me) but the server wasn't the bartender and just left. Then I looked to my left and saw the guy sitting there spit into a clear plastic bottle. That wasn't the only event...within a couple minutes there was a half inch of spit in the bottle that was sitting on the bar. Jimmy, who owns the place, abolished smoking at another of his places years ago saying it was a disgusting habit. This made smoking look like a kiss!!! I've been eating in Jimmy's restaurants since 1985 so this isn't some "hit piece." I'll tell him the same when I see him. I'll never return to the Bar. I drove to Novi and tried Primante Bros and found it to have a much larger food selection and an attentive bartender. read more

Just had breakfast & was finishing up when the manager, (big guy from Hector & Jimmy's)came up to our table & said we needed to wrap it up & go because he needed the table. We were shocked. My friend was still drinking her drink she paid 8.00 for. He was so rude. There was a much nicer way to approach us. We stayed 5 more minutes to wait for her to finish her drink while they watched us & made us feel uncomfortable. Before leaving I told him she wasn't even finished with her drink & that was rude. I explained he just earned himself a couple bad reviews. He said he didn't care, he's not arguing with me & don't come back. I'm a big supporter of small businesses & the community. Unfortunately after that experience I will never go back. You just lost loyal customers due to a nasty nasty manager. read more

Excellent little bar in downtown Milford. They had a decent amount of craft beer selection and a good martini menu. The martini prices were also reasonable for top shelf liquor. My boyfriend and I split the chicken and black bean nachos. They were awesome and had a creamy avocado sauce over the top. Definitely glad we stopped here even though it's about 7 miles off the Interstate. Wish Yelp did 1/2 stars because this place is 4.5 stars. read more

Yet another great brunch. This time sausage gravy and biscuits were on the menu. Although I didn't go all in on a full order, they let me have a side of gravy for my omelet to satisfy my craving for only $2 or so. I met my friend at The Bar for breakfast. I got there right when they were opening. Walked in from the back (where I parked) and was told to talk to the "big guy up front" for a table. I walked up in a great mood and said "hi I'm told I need to see you for a table". The "big guy" happened to be the owner, Jimmy. He said "yeah" without even looking at me. I said there will be two of us and we would like to sit outside please. He said go ahead and go out there and I'll send someone out. Mariel was our server and she was fantastic. My friend and I hadn't seen each other in a while so we had a lot of catching up to do. We formulated a plan with Mariel that when our menu was in a certain location we were ready to order and that way she didn't need to worry about continuously popping by only to find that we weren't ready to order. She thought that was fun and we happily sat there chatting and drinking our mimosas. After a bit we ordered and the food was wonderful. The owner continued to wander about with a scowl on his face taking care of things. We finished out mimosas and asked Mariel for a box for our food and decided to order another drink. While we were waiting the owner came by to inform us that there was a line waiting to be seated so basically we needed to move it along. Shocked by this we did tell him that we were planning to order another drink and he reluctantly let us stay. How wonderful we thought that he would allow us to stay and continue to spend money at his restaurant. Mariel came by with our drinks and we sat there chatting and drinking. Once he knew that we were finished and had received our bill he once again came by to let us know that there was a wait and that we needed to move along!! I couldn't believe it!! I said to him "well I guess next time I just won't spend as much money here." He asked me to repeat myself which I was happy to do. He then said " well I don't mean to be rude but" and before I let him finish I said " and yet it happens so naturally" and got up and left. I have never been treated like that by the owner of a restaurant. Who basically tells someone that he doesn't want them to spend any more money?! Also . . . all the staff was required (and we know this because we asked) to wear a mask while the owner walked around mask free. Way to lead by example! I will never go back. I will tell my friends not to go back and if anyone is looking for suggestions on where to go in Milford I will definitely NOT recommend The Bar. If you are looking for a nice place to sit and relax and catch up . . . go down the road to anywhere but here. read more

It's not very often that I go into a restaurant an hour or less before closing . I worked in a restaurant for over ten years and I know how annoying it can be . Madeline was our server - and she was super friendly - she was happy and quick and did not make us feel bad at all for coming in late . The food was still amazing - and the service is always great no Matter when you come in. Coming in at 840 when a place closes at 9, I wouldn't even be mad if I got bad service - but Madeline was great !!! And we will always be coming back . read more

I used to come here a lot for breakfast but I sat for 1/2 hour without being approached at all. The other waitress told me she would get my server when I asked why she was ignoring me. I moved inside to the bar and waited 10 minutes with no service. I tried to get the managers attention and he ignored me even when I asked the waitress to get him. I told her to communicate to him that I was leaving after being ignored for 30 minutes and she did not care at all. The Bar is nice little place to have a beer and some good food. The menu isn't large but I'm happy with what I have after at least six visits. I had a chimichonga there awhile back and I'm still thinking about how good it was. The fish tacos are really good too. It is dark on the inside but this adds to the relaxing and casual atmosphere. We often go after work and it's a nice place to have a quiet conversation without blaring music or loud people in the background. I have never seen any kids in the restaurant so it may not be family friendly. This is a plus for my husband and me as we don't like eating at places with lots of kids. First time visit. Just finished breakfast, sitting outside on the sidewalk. Great location to watch the world go by. It's a Saturday, so breakfast only before 1pm. And what a treat the breakfast menu is, hard to choose from the array of delicious options. I went with the Tex Mex hash; spicy chorizo with sauted potatoes and veg, topped with three eggs. Stunning dish, a big lortion and man was it tasty. Other half had the farmers omelette, also very well prepared and presented. A full bar is available too, so the hash was accompanied by a Bells Oberon. Love it, will be returning soon. read more

This has very quickly become a favorite spot for my hubby and I on the weekends - and it's all about the breakfast. Great food, paired with an equally good Bloody Mary or Mimosa makes for a fantastic start to the day. The Tex Mex Hash is incredible. Ask for it with their creamy cheese sauce and you will think you died and went to heaven. I particularly love the Dearborn ham with my eggs, because it is sliced very thin. It is delicious. This is a small venue, very intimate and warm. I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

My Wife and I were regulars here and would come in for brunch every other week, if not every week. Yesterday when we went for brunch we endured the single worst restaurant experience of our lives. We sat a dirty table for quite a while until my wife went and asked someone to come clean our table off. When someone finally came to bus our table and get our drink order, I asked about the draft list. The server did not know what was on tap, but said he would check. I never saw him again. It was about another 10 minutes before we flagged another server down and put in our drink orders. We didn't receive our drinks for another 10 minutes and weren't even able to make our food order when she dropped them off, telling us she would be right back. At this point my wife wanted to leave, but I was very hungry so we decided to stay which was a mistake. We waited another 5 minutes before we were able to make our food order. Twenty minutes went by, but still no food. We asked a different server to check on our food because our server was so inattentive. She went and checked and told us that our ticket had just been delivered to the chef. We asked for our check so I could pay for my beer and leave. It was another 10 minutes before we got out bill. I expressed that we were now in a rush to get to another engagement when I handed her my card to cash out. It was yet another 10 minutes before I got my card back and when she gave us the receipt to sign, she put it on the table and started to walk away without even giving me a pen to sign. We left angry and hungry. Like I said, this was the single worst restaurant experience we have ever had. They effectively turned regulars into non-customers. We will not be back, and I would not recommend The Bar to anyone. I hope Jimmy knows what's going on with the staff here and can get things turned around because we were not the only ones who were clearly perturbed yesterday. I would guess a large amount of the crowd that was there yesterday will not be coming back. read more

Neat little hidden gem. BBQ pork nachos are to die for. Staff is friendly. Not a large selection on menu to choose from but can't go wrong with anything you choose. Medium priced menu. Sunday brunch is excellent too. The farmers burrito is made fresh with fresh ingredients. Enough to feed two people. Definitely would recommend going. read more
