So, I went to this place because I'm from Santa Cruz and it was my birthday in July 7th. I didn't book in locally around my town but was going to San Jose and looked at a place to cut hair, on the 7th. Upon my arrival to this place, I chose whoever was available and that was with Adam at 10:30am. He's a real nice, down to earth person but when it came to cutting my hair. It was all over the place. I was a bit indecisive if I wanted to get a textured fringe or a middle part. Keep in mind, I got there 15 mins early so I can have time to get reference photos and he just said, "I'll work my magic around it" without having me get the chance to get the photos ready. I always want to show a barber my references so they can get a good idea how my hair works but with Adam, he free balled my cut. As he was cutting my hair, we had talks about life yk, but I started getting really worried with the way he cut my hair, where I insisted to have a middle part instead of a textured fringe but cut everything in the sides with a number 2, instead of taking his time with it. Something I should keep in mind is I wanted a fade, but he didn't really do that where he just went in on the hairs on my sides, did scissor work on the already cut sides, and left me with uncooked spaghetti top as a look. I've never felt so hesitant to leave that place and during my convo, I told him I was Christian and proceeded to drink a modelo, listen to Tik tok music, while he was cutting my hair. I booked an appointment for my boyfriend. I even confirmed the appointment via email. Unfortunately my boyfriend waited 30 minutes outside of the barbershop and no one ever showed up. We never received an email, phone call or text message anything indicating the appointment would need to be rescheduled. So unprofessional and a waste of time. The cut was good but it wasn't what I wanted. I expressed that I wanted to keep my hair up top and just wanted a clean up around the side and ended up with the sides completely shaved. It was literally a nasty ass high top fade lol. It looked so ridiculous I just told him to chop the top. I found Barberhood and decided to give them a call 5 min before closing. I connected with J who said hed stay late to help me out. J fixed my haircut to my exact specifications. However, when I woke up the next day I was still unhappy with my cut (my fault, not his). I contacted J again who penciled me in during his lunch break to fix my hair yet again at no extra cost. Im very picky about my hair as its not easy to manage being very wavy. J took the time to try and figure exactly what I wanted despite me not being good at communicating my desired look. If you're not already a regular read this review. Based on the positive reviews I booked an appointment for my dad for Saturday morning. I got several confirmations via text and email. The morning of our appt I got a text message asking if we could change our appt time to the afternoon. We had flexibility so I agreed. We arrived 10 min before our new appt time. We had booked our appt with a senior stylist but were told he was running behind and that the assistant would be taking care of us. The junior staff was very nice and she provided a decent hair cut but it was not cool that our appt was not honored. The shave was mediocre and my dad got two cuts on his chin and lots of missed patches. I watched the other client getting a much better experience with a facial steam. Others were offered drinks including a regular who arrived after us and who was taken care of by the senior staff. We had to ask for a drink which was supposed to be whiskey included with the cut/shave package according to the website but they only had beer or white claw which we weren't even offered. Also we were told when we arrived that it was cash only which was not indicated on their website or mentioned when I booked the appt online. I expected this to be a high end experience but was sorely disappointed. This was not the experience that was advertised and def not worth the 80 bucks. I feel I should mention we are Asian and my dad is an older senior citizen. Can't help but feel this impacted the service we received. If you're a new client looking for a high end full service cut and shave, avoid this place. read more

He had the nerve to cut the front of my hair in a straight line across my forehead. It was so bad I made a yelp account just to tell people not to go here.
