My friend and I wound up at W's Village Grille the other night, after our initial beverage venue of choice had not even one available bar stool. W's was a large restaurant and sports bar with ample parking. The place was packed because of the March Madness basketball games, so the front bar was bustling, but, thankfully, we were able to get a large, cozy booth in that section. We just ordered Aperol Spritzes, which were tasty and perfectly balanced. The service was also very friendly. While the food menu was mainly greasy bar food, they had a few items (grilled chicken, salads, soups, etc.) that I would have ordered if I had been hungry. Overall, the W's Village Grille seemed like a great place to catch a game or even for a family dinner in the back dining room, but it was not really the trendy girls' night spot for which we had originally planned. read more

To David H.: I was there that night too, and honestly this review sounds more like someone who didn't understand what was going on than an accurate description of the place. It was St. Patrick's Day and the start of March Madness, the bar was completely packed, exactly like anyone with basic common sense would expect. The staff was clearly working hard to keep up with the crowd, and my Guinness was poured perfectly fine. If someone thought they were going to get slow, ceremonial pours and unlimited bar time on one of the busiest nights of the year, that's just unrealistic. As for getting cut off, bars don't do that for no reason, especially on a night when they want to keep serving. When a place is at capacity, the staff has to make judgment calls to keep things under control and stay within the law. Acting like bartenders should let people stay forever just because it's St. Patrick's Day sounds like someone who hasn't actually worked a high-volume bar in a long time, if ever. Calling the place overpriced with bad food doesn't make much sense either, considering it was packed all night and people were clearly enjoying themselves. It's easy to blame the bar when you don't get the experience you wanted, but from what I saw, the staff handled a crazy night the best they could, and the complaints here sound way more like user error than anything wrong with the place. read more

4 of us for lunch. Prices on the high side but a big menu. Nice atmosphere but the food was not so good! Shepards pie was way too salty. Took it home after 1 table spoon for taste and threw the rest out. Dont ask me why I took it home. Fish n chip x2 - loaded with batter, over cooked, cod was very mushy. I've heard lots of great things about this place from my neighborhood Facebook group.. after a night of not wanting to cook, we decided to stop in. Parking lot was busier than the Restaurant. We are always looking to try local spots and this one was recommended by friends. The place is very nicely decorated and clean. We loved all the St. Patrick's Day touches! I was there for St Pat's Day celebration after work. By way, it was packed, as expected. Literally, the worst pour of Guinness I've experienced in a bar that serves it. I cant believe that the owner, Charlie, who knows that his bartenders don't know the first thing about a proper Guinness pour wouldn't have hired those who fo for such an occasion. We had the launch of March Madness on top of what should already reason enough, St Pats... so to my point, who gets cutoff on St Pats anywhere, not because I was obnoxious, pissed off regular, fought with somebody...but because somebody suggested I'd been there too long...huh? I worked in service industry, specifically as bartender, we pride ourselves in keeping customers as long as they want to stay, especially on events like St Pats. Never had a bad meal. Service is always good. Good portions at an affordable price. Many options for apps i would recommend their philly cheesesteak egg rolls and wings (get the waldwick sauce). Burgers are good. Short rib is good Every wekeend they have pretty good specials to offer. They should change up their menu more often perhaps add some more burgers maybe less sandwiches add some tacos, more salads and add a few more seafood entrees. Very disappointed in the value and quantity of food for the price. Ordered the fried calamari, and for the price was not worth it . Ordered or nachos included small quantity of the chili,cheese and other toppings. The main entrée salmon was a very small piece of about 3 ounces. It was cooked well the vegetables were tasty, but the value was not worth it. Our server was in experienced didn't really know the menu . No one asked how everything was either. When I left, I felt that I was paid for something that wasn't worth it and the and I felt like I had just gotten ripped off. The coffee was terrible. All in all, don't see myself going back. Im not crazy about being charged 50 cents extra for the extra one ounce of hot sauce for my chicken wings, really 50 cents ? I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie Wonsowicz the owner of W's Village Grill in Waldwick last night. What a great story he has. He played baseball at a high level as a kid and worked his way onto the Yankees on an annual contract. Every year he had to prove himself to the team and his work efforts did so. He's bringing the same work ethics and professionalism to his new venture in Waldwick. He doesn't want to grow and scale like most restaurants these days he just wants to bring a good quality restaurant to the area where you feel welcomed. I highly recommend checking them out. The drinks were great and the menu has many great bar options as well as entrees. Filet was really good. Honestly meeting Charlie was the highlight of the evening. We went to the new W Village Grille for the first time and were not impressed! It was nice to see a few of the old staff from the original Village Grille. The low quality food is not anything like the former place .. no specials, much smaller portions, very boring selections.. the sandwich was dried out and fries were bland.. the chicken was ok but not outstanding... we wished it was better since they closed for 3 months for renovations .. but the only thing new we saw were new lights and some framed jerseys . The tables were not clean and all scratched up- what were your renovations? Very disappointing !! Not planning to return - no live music yet either or happy hour food like before. As a Yankee fan, I was petty stoked about this place. Nice warm ambience, friendly welcome when you arrive. The food was OK. Bayou burger had good flavor, but bun might have been past its prime. Asked for mayo for my burger, and the two tablespoons of mayo cost an extra 50 cents.....I mean, really, you can't give two tablespoons of free mayo?!!? The diners who had a salad, felt that the lettuce was past its prime too. Service was very good and the place was spotless. read more

I went there on December 31. I had seen posts on Instagram and Facebook listing the special hours for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve and a special holiday menu. I was disappointed to find that the special menu was different than the one posted online. No Surf and Turf which I had planned to order. No Stuffed Mushrooms appetizer. l had the Filet Mignon which was very good but not what I wanted to order. The service was excellent. The holiday decorations were very nice. I will pay no attention to any special menus posted online since they may not be correct. read more

It's really good for what it is, which is good pub-type food. Had French onion soup for an appetizer. Very good. Dark, rich broth. French dip for an entree. Must've been feeling French tonight. Tasty, nice-sized portion, as were my wife's chicken sandwich and my son's burger. Earlier reviews (here and Trip Advisor) indicated that things might have been a little bumpy for the new owner. Never saw anything close to that here as the food was very good and the service was spot-on. So, whatever birthing pains there might have been are gone. Had a great time at W's! Very friendly staff, good ambiance and great food. The bar area was spacious with high top tables and booths, along with a good amount of TVs. The main dining area was also spacious with a variety of booths and tables. We ordered the French onion soup, cheesesteak eggrolls and the Milanese salad. The French onion soup was really good - right amount of cheese onions and bread with great flavor. The egg rolls were good, nothing outrageous but did the job. The Milanese salad was dressed perfectly, and the chicken cutlet was phenomenally crispy. The cutlet itself could have just used a bit more salt. Went to W's 4 times since their opening in Waldwick. Great food (Try their Burgers!) and service is fast and friendly. Beer, wine, and whiskey selections are plentiful. The bar is large and the people are friendly. This is a great place for families, friends, events and just having a beer while watching a game on their large screen TVs. read more

Ignored by hostess. Sat ourselves at the bar. It was not busy, but it took a while for the bartender to acknowledge us. The bar was pretty dirty so I had to ask for it to be wiped, even then, barely cleaned the area closest to me which was sticky and I still asked for the rag myself to clean. the bartender was nice, but a but slow with the service. Ordered 2 glasses of wine and calamari for a ridiculous $50ish tab!! The calamari was rubbery and untasty. Told the bartender is wasn't good, evident by the fact that we only ate two bites before she cleared the plate and made no apology for the poor quality or to remove from tab. Ended up going to another local restaurant. I know them from their Oakland location, great reputation, so maybe it was an off day? I doubt I'll be coming back. read more

W's Village Grille is mediocre at best. On a scale from 1-10, I'd give a 5, but tinkering on a 4 at times. Their menu is as stale as their french fries. Nothing here is a wow, nothing tastes great - it's always just mediocre or less. They must use crazy glue on the tables because my phone and arms were stuck. I wiped the table myself and it didn't help. Owners, sit in each booth and at each table to ensure your patrons are having a great experience. The smoked glass is filthy and their are cobwebs by the windows. I've been several times and each time it's the same. I don't mind paying when I feel there is value - but this place is overpriced and underwhelming. Have some pride. read more

We wanted this place to be good; perfect location, a parking lot and a bar. Nice lively atmosphere. But for 100 bucks for two people.... the food was below par. And why must French onion soup be severed at 2000 degrees? It took almost 20 mins for it to cool down. I assume the servers just over heat it in a microwave. Whatever. Went here with my family and it was fantastic! The food was great, service was attentive the place was clean and fun! We had the mussels which were amazing, bang bang shrimp and the wings were delicious . On the special menu the tuna was great! To end a great meal we had delicious carrot cake!
