Very disappointing. I ordered two call Vodka Martinis with blue cheese olives. The second martini I was told it would be fifty cents for the blue cheese olives. Are you kidding me? A 12$ martini and you are going to charge me for the olives? Manager said the olives were hand stuffed and blue cheese is expensive. Although we supposedly had an experienced server, she totally messed up the order. My husband and I were finished with our entree before theirs arrived. So very disappointing. read more

Beautiful place. Nice waitress but could have been a little more attentive. Ordered the tomahawk ribeye medium. Flavor was good. Not life changing. The steak came out clearly dark red and rare. Absolutely terrible dining experience. To start off I had very high hopes for this restaurant and left utterly devastated. Our table ordered the Salmon wontons and Ribeye meatballs as appetizers, and for our entrée we ordered the Tomahawk steak to split (medium rare) with a side of Crispy potatoes. The wontons were the only appetizer to make it to our table. around 30 minutes later our side of potatoes came out, and by the time our tomahawk was served to us the potatoes were already finished. As for the tomahawk it was very over cooked. We did let the waiter know but did not want to wait another 45 minutes for a new one to come out. And finally after finishing all of the food we were served, and asking on the meatballs multiple times (which were supposed to be appetizers) we told the waiter to make them to go. Party of 4 with reservations. Asked to sit at low top as this was my first dining out since two knee replacements this year. Was told there was only high tops. We noticed four tops with only two diners at them. The tables were pub size and there is no place for the purses to hang/lay. The QR code didn't work. Ordered drinks and appetizers which were labelled 'Shared' plates. Drinks were served in 28 minutes. First of the appetizers were served before we received the drinks. One of which was wrong. The 'shared' plates were small servings. We ordered the Pork Belly which was three small bites of belly served on sticky rice; Texas Takaki which was 8 nickel sized slices of ribeye - tasty sauce; and Salmon Wontons which was 4 servings of fried wonton with dollops of creamed salmon - not too special. We ordered more drinks ahead of need and again it took 15 minutes, not all coming at the same time. We can see that the kinks of service have not been ironed out yet for this new business. Entrees: Filet was ordered medium rare and served in a delicious sauce. Rib Eye ordered medium rare and received rare. Crab Roll was billed as Maryland Blue Crab and served in a roll that was too large for the amount of crab. Fries were very good! Scallops were not seared well but the sauce was tasty. We were there to celebrate a birthday but this was not recognised by the business. Ladies room has two stalls - one of which had been damaged and the lock torn off. It was laying on the floor. I picked up the lock and screws and took them to one of the staff, who said they knew about the damage. Maybe didn't care? Overall not the night we were hoping for as a celebratory event. And certainly most uncomfortable for my knees, which went under ice when we got home. Will we return? Unknown right now... read more

What would you like to do on your 42nd wedding anniversary, which also happens be Valentine's Day? Probably have a nice meal with your spouse in a nice, high quality restaurant... The Barrel offered a set menu and by our reservation time of 7:45, they had sold out of lobster tails, even after being seated and the server assuring us the menu was still intact. We're moving back into the area and looking for that 'go to' restaurant for cocktails, quality wines and a great steakhouse menu. 1st impression was that even though we had reservations, you were either known by staff or you were pedestrian. For the holiday there was complementary Champaign offered, but we weren't offered any until after we'd been seated and we'd ordered our cocktails, while known patrons were greeted, given a flute and whisked away to their booth seating... Things went downhill from there, we started to make our order from the fixed menu, we expressed our interest in the tomahawk steak and lobster tail option and settled in to enjoy our cocktails and waited for our appetizer. Just before the appetizer arrived, the server informed us that the lobster option was no longer available. We sent the appetizer back and asked to talk to the manager. Mrs Bohannan arrived only to 'apologize' for the inconvenience? Its a special occasion for all, but doubly for us on our anniversary... We had a civil conversation and she offered to have Brandon come and greet us before leaving and searching for another place for dinner. We were left waiting at our seat for over 10 mins, Mrs Bohannan had moved on to other duties, but there was no status update on Brandon's arrival, we lost our patience and then tipped our server and left. If you're personal friends with this crowd, maybe there's some value with hanging with management, but even having a family tie to friends of management, we were clearly pedestrians. The Barrel is a great place for some high quality food for a good night out. As a big fan of good whiskey I can always find something great on their whiskey list. It's hard to turn down a glass of Angel's Envy Rye; however, beware, they charge for large ice! It's only $2 but a bit off putting as I've never run into this anywhere else (regardless of if the ice is "branded" or not). Their appetizers that are all good choices. The bone marrow is a bit lacking in flavor but is still a great option. The dip trio and charcuterie board are my go-to's. They cook a solid steak which is elevated with the seasonal butter on top and my wife loves scallops. They do no disappoint! I'm looking forward to the next time we have visitors in-town so we can show off the place! read more

Had a very nice first experience recently. All things good started when I phoned the restaurant the day of our reservation with a special request. I spoke with "Blake" who was very understanding and accommodating. Next, our party of eight, was seated promptly by the hostess and we were met by our very friendly server and one of the managers. We ordered drinks and a few appetizers and were very pleased with both...there are lots of wines, spirits and beers to choose from on their drink menu. My only drink disappointment was to find none of their beers were on tap...all bottles. Oh, well, the beer was cold and we were offered cold glasses. So, all good. My wife and I had the deviled eggs ($14 for six) and we both enjoyed them very much. We both ordered the "steak and frites"...mine medium rare and my wife's medium. Both came out a tad under cooked to specification, but not so much that we needed to send them back. And, oh, what flavor. Very nice and the thin truffle fries were excellent as well. Could not have been more pleased. Our server was excellent and the manager returned a couple more times to make certain all was well and to help our server take away emptied plates, etc. It is nice to have such a restaurant near us where we could feel good taking friends and visitors. Disappointed, my friend ordered me a glass of the house cab, I had not arrived yet, I figured being a wine and whiskey bar they of course had a house cab. Just read other reviews, apparently not. The server never informed us of this. The regular price for this glass of wine was $22! It was a Robert Mondavi Cab! Seriously, $22 for a glass! They did credit me back the charge after I said something to the manager. The food is way overpriced, while it was good, way expensive for regular bar type appetizer. Three of us shared 2 appetizers, (cost split between us 3) I ordered an appetizer for my meal and then had 2 glasses of wine....regular bill was over $65! With wine credit it was still around $36. Also, the music did not fit the atmosphere, some kind of techno dance stuff, mixed with country...weird. I was really looking forward to having a new go to place. Hopefully the owner will make some changes to make this place more appealing. read more
