First visit - and it's weird that we can't even figure out what this place is about. It's trying to be Farm to Market great food with Whiskey and Wine as its anchors. The wait staff run around lime chickens in a barnyard with their hair flying all over the place ( no food safety and health codes required here) .. no real uniform code .. but they somehow seem to get the job done , however haphazard, untidy, and unclean it is. The biggest disappointment is the wine list. The BTG selections are same same as any mediocre chain restaurant - blah. The bottle list is extensive but also predictable with lots of high priced offerings and few selections under $100.00. This is not a "wine house" - which we were so hoping to find due to its claim. We did enjoy a whiskey cocktail. The meals were mediocre also - but we did have a great server - Sophie. First and last visit here. read more

Went there for a birthday party and the tables were set up so pretty. The staff is very friendly and available. I felt it was a bit pricey, but have you been to the grocery store lately. Everything is affected by high prices. The wedge salad was so yummy!! read more

My rating is solely on the cocktail menu and lack of attention from the management and owners to it. It is April 5th, and they are still serving their FALL drink menu. My husband and I started coming here weekly since about September of last year when we decided to try this place out and loved it. The food and whiskey cocktails are good, but the ambiance is great. We always end up spending 100+ weekly and leaving a generous tip because the service is great. I've been hearing since the end of January that the new cocktail menu would be out in March. Our last visit was March 15th, and they still had no idea when it would be out. I called on 4/3, and got another excuse about how the menu is at the printers and they want it to be perfect, etc. etc. I get it, but I'm annoyed. The food is good, but not good enough to make me go just for it and not have a nice drink along side it. I'm not sure who is in charge of this drink menu, but their position should be reevaluated. I also put blame on the owners for allowing it. I don't think this will be our go to weekly spot anymore since we haven't been weekly since 3/15. Once they get their spring/summer drink menu out, but you don't make it out this summer, don't you worry, I'm sure they'll still be available come Christmas. read more

Service breakdown: *Took almost 1O minutes for our server to greet us *Took 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive at the table(appetizers were delivered first) * Server finally took our dinner order when we were done with appetizers. Didn't clear empty plates from table or fill our water *Water stayed empty for quite awhile. It's Summer in Texas! Keep that rolling! * Dinner took awhile to make and finally came out after about 20 minutes * Server didn't check on us until we were almost done with our dinner * We wanted dessert but took our server nearly 10 minutes to come back to the table to take our order Overall, the food is pretty good here. I recommend the ordering Cajun pasta, deviled eggs and double burger. The cocktails aren't bad as well. Go with the, That's What She Said if you like Bourbon or the Pillow Talk if you like Gin. The ambiance is the perfect place to have an evening cocktail & have a relaxing sit down dinner with your loved one or friends. They also have a pleasant outdoor patio with a waterfall outside and insta-worthy sign in the back. Each table also comes with a fan for cooling off during those sweltering Texas Summer days! You have been warned about the service though! It's not good! Their entrees and drinks are way too expensive to be offering service like this. Food was great! Service was mediocre. I won't say names for the purpose of being generous but our server from the moment we got there was SUPER unenthusiastic to serve us. We got appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts, and after dinner cocktails. Towards the end she took off her apron and was rushing us completely out. Once we signed the check she immediately picked it up and clocked herself out. We obviously were super uncomfortable and moved to the bar (where the girl bartender was super nice!) To our surprise, we looked down the bar top and our server had taken off her serving outfit and proceeded to enjoy a drink with someone while we were sitting almost right next to her!!! VERY rude and unprofessional coming from someone who works in the service industry! Seems like she just wanted our money and cared nothing about our experience. Expected more. read more

This is the BEST date night spot!! You are greeted by the friendliest hostesses and we have had amazing servers every time. I've ordered the steak every time because the quality of the meat is unbeatable. I've also tried the sangria and loved it. I have not found a bad thing on the menu. We had been anticipating the opening of this place for a long time as patrons of its predecessor, Grapes to Wine. We came in the back door, as we had for many years at the former business, and despite there being a group of 5 employees huddled in a group, no one greeted us. We finally approached them and one rudely said, "The hostesses are at the FRONT door." Awesome. Not a problem. The interior is beautiful. The menu looked impressive. The charcuterie was terrible. The prosciutto was all gristle and inedible. My husband actually choked on it. There was a ball of wax aka honeycomb that didn't taste right with ANY of the selections and a weird jelly that didn't either. No stone ground mustard or anything savory to be found. The drinks were fine. Nothing spectacular for the price. The service was lackluster to put it mildly. Meh. This will not be our go-to place like we had hoped. read more

The Barrel is the best draw to general Bartonville/Lantana area! It has and elegance and trendiness you don't find around this area, which is perfect for me as an expat! The staff has been so kind and always on top of their game! Half the draw to go so regularly for me is getting to watch them make craft cocktails and chatting with them in their limited downtime. Mentioning craft cocktails, The Barrel's are amazing! And if you don't seem something you'd like you should ask, because they can make just about anything! I am looking forward to dining here but I do want to give some feedback. Last Wednesday night my friend and I arrived after a late lunch elsewhere. It was about 7 pm. We told the hostess we wanted to have a drink at the bar and maybe an appetizer and her comment was " no I can't let you sit at the bar if you don't have a reservation. That's for people eating dinner only". I semi-understand this however there were 4 open seats at the bar, 2 high tops empty and no one appeared to be waiting. The patio wasn't full nor the restaurant. She told us to come back at 8 if we wanted a drink. So...we went to Marty B's which was more than happy to serve us. At 8 we went back and the bar was literally empty except for 1 chair. All this being said, bartenders and bar backs were fabulous and fun especially Noah. The tone of the hostess and her dismissive attitude put us off however since we live close and like to support businesses we will go back. I've read on several other sites the same attitude seemed to prevail so maybe a quick tutorial on customer service would be a good idea. read more

Food is hit or miss. Great concepts but the execution is not consistent. Seasoning is not up to par. Cocktails are lovely.

Service was good. Food was not as good as I expected it would be. Bone marrow was flavorless and not enough for the toast it came with. Creamed collared were extremely rich and a bit too salty. Fish was good but be prepared for small portions. Probably won't return. Much better places to go for the price in the area. read more

The food is good, the servings sizes are inconsistent and they are still working on consistently good service but it's usually good. Even with that inconsistency, this has become a favorite spot for drinks, we absolutely love it- the sangria, old fashions, and margaritas are amazing! read more

I have been dining here since they opened. It was a unique spot when they opened with creative food and great decor. The drinks have always been slow and the food seemed to get less interesting the longer they have been open. The last few times I have been in though the food is just slopped on the plate and just isn't the same at all. Drinks continue to take forever and the service has gotten worse as well. I think I'll stick to Marty Bs and driving into town for dinner. read more

First time here at The Barrel and I was so pleasantly pleased by the food and service (Katlyn was the manager, Garrison was our server, and Emily our hostess). Everything tasted great and the staff was extremely attentive but not overbearing, helpful, and nice. We got the elk toasty bite things they're appetizers and god they hit my heart before they hit my stomach the food here is so good, then the charcuterie board - dope - and the sea bass and chicken fried steak (timeless), wrapped things up with espresso martinis and skedaddled. Tonight we had a wonderful date night. We ordered the oysters that were on hand, 6 of each, they were east coast and so tasty. If you know oysters, you know that the BER months are iffy in the south so we didn't hesitate when they gave east coast locations for the two options that evening. We're oyster snobs so to speak. They were absolutely delicious on par with the Oceanaire at the galleria. We also ordered the bone marrow appetizer. So yummy!!! I haven't had bone marrow in years and I've only had it in New Orleans. This was a different take on it and it was so wonderful! My boyfriend ordered the crab roll and said it was delicious. He said it wasn't to heavy and that the crab salad had a nice tang to it (my guess was lemon). I ordered the seared scallops and they were absolutely divine. Totally and completely divine. And the corn that they serve it with and the fresh herbs? I could bathe in that and be a happy woman. The cocktail I ordered was a regular cosmopolitan and was really delicious. This place is definitely a hidden gem and has TV's at the bar for the sports fans to get their fill. Our waiter, Will was very kind and knowledgeable. We look forward to going back soon. Like VERY soon. I almost forgot to mention that they serve habenero ice with the oysters instead of horseradish, which I thought was odd at first, and then tasted it and it made sense. Overall, our experience was good but not great. Excellent cocktail menu. The wine we had with dinner was excellent. Please keep the Margaux red wine on the menu. Superb. Excellent dessert menu, especially the cappuccino ice cream pie. On the negative side, the chicken fried steak was not consistent, with some parts of the cut being too tough and full of gristle. I realize a chicken fried steak does not use the best cut of meat, but the quality of meat used was not on par with other area establishments that have a great chicken fried steak. The next time, we will try a filet or some other better cut of meat in order to make a final judgment on whether to frequent this restaurant. Our wait person was new and experienced, but charming. Overall food was tasty - wedge and Caesar salads were delish, crab rolls were okay but we'll try something different next time. Ordered broccolini but realized when we got home we didn't get it. Wine list is very good and the cocktails looked imaginative. We were pleasantly surprised that happy hour is 4-5, even on the weekends, so cocktails, wine by the glass and bottle is 1/2 off. Drove past every other restaurant to come here. Because they close at 11. Late day at work and I wanted something nice, Walked through the door at 10:11 and was told the kitchen was closed no food. Nothing on the website no heads up. Literally drove from Dallas and passed multiple other restaurants because I thought this was a nice place. Very frustrating. read more

Very disappointing. I ordered two call Vodka Martinis with blue cheese olives. The second martini I was told it would be fifty cents for the blue cheese olives. Are you kidding me? A 12$ martini and you are going to charge me for the olives? Manager said the olives were hand stuffed and blue cheese is expensive. Although we supposedly had an experienced server, she totally messed up the order. My husband and I were finished with our entree before theirs arrived. So very disappointing. read more
