Our first time at A PCH won't be our last. Visited for my husband's birthday dinner and got seated right against the glass patio wall. Within a few minutes, our drinks and started had been ordered (our starter was noted to take extra time). And by the time drinks arrived, we put in our entrees. Everything we ate and drank was outstanding. Beautifully plated and vibrant in color and flavor, it was a truly exceptional meal. And the drinks were very tasty. And dessert - delicious. We stopped by on Sunday afternoon. Perhaps due to the time, getting a table was easy, even as walk-ins. The available menu was the brunch menu. We started with appetizers: mussels ($23) and braised lamb belly ($25). For the main course, we ordered a ribeye steak ($69), Scottish salmon ($46), and "dirty pasta" ($36). Drinks included a glass of wine ($17) and a glass of Coke ($4.50). With tax ($23.15) and an "employee benefits" charge ($5.51), the total came to $249.16 before gratuity. The mussels are cooked in a broth of white wine, nduja sausage, tomatoes, onions, lemon juice, and parsley, with a toasted baguette served on the side. I liked the overall taste of the dish, but the mussels were small. The braised lamb belly was an interesting dish, as it was served with kimchi and thin sheets of daikon radish on the side. I assumed the idea was to make a "taco" by combining the three components. I liked it, though the lamb had bit of gaminess which might not appeal to everyone. The ribeye plate comes as steak only, with sides available à la carte. The steak was cooked nicely--juicy and flavorful, though I was a bit surprised by how rich it tasted. The "dirty pasta" features large rigatoni, ground duck, ricotta, and sauce. It was good, and the duck made for an interesting change from the usual beef. As a complete plated meal, I think the Scottish salmon was impressive--both for its visual presentation and the taste of the meal as a whole. The restaurant floor has a split-level design. Upon entering, you'll find a large oval bar surrounded by tables and booths. Step down a level, and there are seats offering views of the Long Beach marina. This area with a view is protected by windows--which is good, as the marine air is often cool and breezy. It seems that nearly all the establishments owned by this restaurant group have names starting with the letter or word "A." When searching online, use the words "a pch restaurant," as "a pch" alone is apparently too vague a search term. A final note to management: I was surprised to see a $5.51 charge for "employee benefit" on our bill. I playfully asked our server what benefits this covered, but they didn't know. They mentioned it could be removed if I objected, but I chose not to. My point is, if you're charging diners, shouldn't your staff be able to explain it? And if the line item can be so easily discharged, maybe you shouldn't be adding it in the first place. read more

I am very disappointed with my last visit (8/4/26). I made a reservation and we were seated immediately to start things off right. We came to celebrate a birthday and this restaurant was the choice of said birthday girl. The reservation process was easy. We were seated immediately. We decided to start with bottled water (Aqua Panna) but several felt it just tasted like tap water and didn't drink it. A waste of money. The restaurant was packed so slow service was to be expected. Our waitress took our order shortly after being seated. Starting with a Ceasar salad, which was the best thing we had all night. It was light and flavorful. 3 of us ordered the much anticipated pot pie as it's now served on Monday and Tuesdays. Sadly we were all disappointed. It completely lacked flavor! This was brought to the attention of our waitress, where I told her it was flavorless and asked for salt and pepper (S&P) to try and fix it. We did receive those items + hot sauce. After 3 rounds of adding S&P, my dish was "ok" enough to eat. I personally felt this could have been handled better, instead of pretty much blown off. 3 of 4 people unhappy with their meal and no sorry, no offer to replace the dish or bringing it the managers attention. 5 mins later she came back to see if the S&P made it better. No credit to the bill, offer for dessert, nada!! Just the full check brought to our table for payment. After our bill was paid, we saw the manager and called him over. After notifying him of how horrible the pot pie was, he did provide a gift card as an apology to the person in our party who got his attention since our bill was already paid. The card amount is approximately enough to cover 1 pot pie including tip and tax (with a small bit left over). I do appreciate he tried to make it right(ish), but 3 meals were horrible, not just 1. I did have a good first experience here and hope there is quality control measures put in place as food like what we ordered should have never left the kitchen. With so many wonderful higher end restaurants in town, it will be a while before I give this place another try. BTW, they do not validate, so parking on the street is ideal or be aware of the time limit for free structure parking. read more

Friend and I came for lunch after a glowing review from a friend who loved their chicken pot pie which is only available Monday and Tuesday. They have a lunch menu that has an appetizer,main course and dessert. We both had the delicious Caesar salad. Hanger steak with fried was next. Fries were so yummy and steak had a lot of flavor and cooked perfectly. Marshmallow ice cream was last and the description on the menu didn't make me think it would be good. Wrong assumption. I came here for happy hour and views, and I was not disappointed. I think this is a great place for a happy hour dinner date before shopping around with your friends at the 2nd & PCH plaza. I got squash blossoms, two orders of spicy tuna, whipped ricotta with fresh pita, octopus, and a pizza. Seating is first come, first served, and it was fairly packed on a Saturday evening, though we were still able to find two seats without too much trouble. The bar area itself looked great and felt spacious, making it a comfortable place to sit and unwind despite the crowd. I ordered the Gin Blossom, while my partner got a vodka-based drink along with a Long Island Iced Tea. The bartenders were friendly and welcoming, and the drinks were made well and tasted great. Celebrated a friend's birthday on Saturday. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out. Our party of three was seated in a comfortable booth. There are huge areas for large groups. Beautiful view but bring a jacket if you get cold easily. Cocktails were tasty and served promptly. Two of us shared the Crab Cobb Salad and the 3rd enjoyed all of the sea bass. We ordered fresh baked bread, truffle fries and duck fat hasbrowns. Everything tasted fresh. Cob salad is too large for one person (in my opinion). My friend loved the sea bass. Came back a second time and it was still as good as the first! Service is great! This time discovered a noteworthy dish, the chicken piccata (definitely upgrade to the pasta!). As much as I would have liked to give this place five stars, our experience was disappointing from the very beginning. We had reservations for 8:00 p.m. When we checked in, the hostess told us that the party at our table had until 8:30 p.m. to finish. This was never communicated to us beforehand which they said was noted they did, the hostesses were very nonchalant about the situation instead of offering a better solution. They eventually seated us, but it was all the way in the back of the restaurant where we had to ask for the candles and fire place to be lit Because of that, it took a while for our server to get to us, and our drinks took longer than expected to arrive. That said, our waitress was absolutely amazing, friendly, attentive, and the highlight of our visit. She provided excellent service despite the circumstances and definitely deserves five stars. As we were getting seated, the hostess asked if we had been informed that they were having issues with their roof and that their barbecue was out of service. We had not been told anything about this prior to arriving. As a result, the menu was extremely limited, with no steaks or burgers available. This was especially frustrating because those were the main reasons our group chose this restaurant. Had we been notified ahead of time, we would have appreciated the opportunity to decide whether we still wanted to dine there or make reservations elsewhere. To make matters even more disappointing, we were there celebrating my birthday. It seemed like the restaurant either forgot or there was a miscommunication, because the birthday dessert wasn't brought out until after we had already received the bill. It made the celebration feel like an afterthought, which was disappointing on what was supposed to be a special occasion. Overall, the service from our waitress was outstanding, but the lack of communication and poor handling of the situation by the host staff really impacted our experience. The fancy pizza was average (3 stars), chicken piccata was great (5 stars), while the appetizers were good (4 stars) and the wines by the glass were very overpriced coming from someone in the wine business. Wow! My husband's client gave us a gift card to this restaurant or else we never would have found this gem. It features one of the most beautiful bars I have ever seen with every possible high-end liquor, and the most amazing crowded cocktails. We tried multiple appetizers. All of them delicious. The service has been stellar. I absolutely recommend this place if you're coming on a date or even with a group. The appetizers we tried were the oysters, the lamb belly, the roasted cauliflower and the muscles. I would recommend all of it. No apologies or explanations for the super slow service. It was not busy. Our favorite menu item, the roasted carrots, is no longer on the menu. They need more options for vegetarians that are not super carb heavy. Also it was my husband's birthday, which I put in the reservation. I had a meeting with my advisor, and he picked A's on PCH for our lunch meeting. Parking is complimentary for 90 minutes at the parking garage or complimentary street on the back side of business. The eatery has a nice interior, and we sat at a booth next to the bar. There's even a photo booth and is no charge for customers. Our cordial waiter who was bartending also waited on us and was gracious to not rush us since it was a business meeting and we dined for several hours. I opted for the skirt steak plate which included fingerling potatoes and broccolini. My steak was cooked to my request and the meal was satisfying. As soon as you step near the front there is a greeter awaiting to seat you. A good friend blessed me with dinner on her and have never been to A PCH. I have always visited Whole Foods Market downstairs but had no clue this beautiful restaurant existed. We sat in the rear portion of this restaurant with a comfortable accessible half circle booth that in the distance you can gaze outside to their outside seating. To start we shared squash blossoms soft and delectable loved it and I ensured to douse my squash in the sauce that they swam in and it added the perfect complement to this dish. I selected the Japanese Wagu A5 and it was succulent jucicy with a slight sweetness it was truly heavenly loved it. My friend selected the Filet Mignon medium rare and she said it was cooked to perfection. In addition we shared the macaroni and cheese, whip potatoes potatoes, asparagus all delicious prepared with care. I went up to "A" to have an early dinner. It was nearing sunset, so I sat a a table near the windows overlooking the Marina. From start to finish, our waiter (a gentleman from Italy) made sure our group felt welcomed and well taken care of. For food, I first ordered the Sea Bass. The flavor was good, but it was a bit too salty for my taste. The team handled it beautifully -- they immediately took it off the bill with no hesitation, which I really appreciated. I then ordered the Ribeye steak, and wow... super juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Definitely a win and highly recommended! Overall, the food was about a 4.5-star, but the service and atmosphere easily brought the experience to a full 5 stars. And the main dish, the ribeye was well cooked as we ordered medium, but in general every dish needed extra flavor, we added salt to everything so I would comeback and I would try the hamburgers and any other dish next time.
