It's not bad coming here for Hawaiian food, but there are better places out there. Their french toast is pretty good considering that they use Hawaiian bread rolls which is the only thing that really stands out compared to other regular diners. Beyond that, nothing really to write home about. The area is nice and the people are nice too, but it's not what I would call the greatest place to get Hawaiian food. Their breakfast is what they are more known for. Eggs, Portuguese sausage patties and Hawaiian bread yummm. The teriyaki is better than the beef but I always love chicken teri. The chicken teri salad is sad though. Iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and teri with huge wonton strips. I got no dressing, is that the norm? It was really tasteless.... But definitely go for breakfast and if you want a simple chicken teri bowl. read more

After three separate visits to the Beach Hut, I can safely conclude that this place aims well with satisfying breakfast dishes at really good prices. Sounds like a sales pitch but seriously, what you eat, how much you get to eat, and what you are paying for, is a steal. The breakfast burrito for example, was easily able to save half the burrito for another day. The loco moco, a MUST, especially when brown rice substitution is at no extra charge. Yes!! The different breakfast meats including the sausages and patties PLUS the hawaiian bread on some dishes, very filling. The service is nothing to be excited about, depending on who's working, but nothing to complain about. You still get the food and they're all very knowledgable about what they are serving you. Trust me, some places have servers that don't have the greatest expertise on what they are serving you. Overall, The Beach Hut is a petite environment with a cozy atmosphere, friendly service, great prices, and comforting food. Will I go back? Most definitely. read more

We read about this spot in the LA Times, it was spotlighted as one of the best breakfast burritos in the area so we decided to see if it was true. We made the drive and it was absolutely fabulous!! It's a chorizo sausage burrito that's big, overstuffed with delicious chorizo sausage, fluffy eggs and perfectly cooked crispy homefried potatoes. I'm guessing it had to be the owner waiting on us because she was completely committed to exceptional service and a great experience for her customers. The place is cute and clean and covid-safe with lots of parking. Five Stars from me! Spotted a teenager there eating a gorgeous stack of pancakes at around 3 p.m. They sure looked good.... read more

After asking my coworkers which is a good breakfast spot(I'm from chicago, moved here recently), they recommended this place. I had the loco moco and spam masubi on the side and it blew my mind. This is one of my two favorite breakfast spots. It's the best. I drive miles on Sundays to come here. I like to get the spicy chicken breakfast, the royal Hawaiian, or chow fun. The surfer special is also pretty good. You can't really go wrong. This is a place you should support because if they went out of business planet might explode. read more

This is really good. I never ate here even though I always pass by. It's kinda hidden in the corner, but man this some good food. Fresh too. Whole chunks of chicken. You can feel the warmth from Fried oils on the wanton. Gonna come back and try some more of their food read more

I have really been missing out. I had their burgers maybe once before, but the teriyaki is insanely good. At every other place, I was either unhappy with the beef, chicken, or both. Too much fat for my tastes, inconsistent texture... but at the Beach Hut both are insanely good. Great texture and flavor. I got the B plate with both beef & chicken for under $10. Comes with a slightly larger side salad than I'd expect, a wonton type thing, flat noodles, thick slice of sweet & soft bread, and two scoops of white rice. Some places even mess up the rice, but everything here was great. I had it with a black coffee which was weaker than I prefer, but the flavor was very good and I will have it again. Will be back soon. read more

Can't seem to stray away from the beef bowl for lunch. So tasty and the added bonus is the warm buttery sweet bread served with it. One of these days I'll get around to trying some other plates on the menu. But for now, beef bowl is where it's at. read more

The savory seasoning/marinade and cool temp made the poke a very satisfying and refreshing meal. I also asked for rice and mac salad for my to-go plate, and those were solid complements to the poke. It's a chill, fast-casual place with Hawaiian tropical decor and a few dine-in tables. The plaza it's in is kinda small and janky, but at least parking is free. For the Poke bowls, select your bowl size, pick two from the four or so fish choices, a base (rice or salad), and for most bowls a side or two. After several visits, my experience has been fine each time. Good quality fish and fresh sides. There are also some plate options where you can select Huli Chicken or Kalua Pork. I've tried both the chicken and pork (though not on the plate option), and both were excellent. This location used to be strictly take-out, but now there are two tables inside if you'd like to sit inside. I feel compelled to mention that when I recently visited this location, they had a health grade of B from LA County displayed in the window. Yelp shows that they had 14 health code violations on September 18. Usually, I don't show too much concern for these health scores, but when a restaurant's primary product is raw fish, a lower score gets my attention.

The Creamy Garlic Crunch poke was especially amazing. It had a slight spicy kick to it and it was rich and delicious. The chips that came with the dip were obviously freshly-made wontons and I could have eaten a hundred of them. The dip was good but not as flavorful as I had hoped or had in the past. For the chicken bowl, the rice and cucumbers that came with the chicken were excellent. You get a ton of mac salad and it is excellent. The chicken was solid, too. Unless they are hiding in plain sight, the places that just sell fresh poke, without the bowl, are few and far between in Southern California. I love poke bowls, too, but sometimes the poke by itself (with the different sauces and seasoning) is just incredible. This spot serves delicious fresh poke and I will always be a fan.

It's literally walking distance from our hotel in Torrance -- so close we actually walked past it the first time without even realizing it was there. Super hidden, easy to miss. The space itself is small, and when you first walk in it doesn't hit you with an over-the-top tiki vibe right away. But once the drinks start coming out, it fully delivers. The glassware is so fun and themed -- I was obsessed with the flamingo cup and actually ended up buying a couple online since I couldn't take the real one home with me. Drink-wise, I stuck mostly to my usual zombie, which has this great earthy, cinnamon-y flavor that's just different from anything else -- does the trick every time (there's a two-drink max/minimum on it, which I respect). We also tried a Makahiki Mua and a Painkiller, both really solid. The Makahiki Mua had a fun flavor, kind of similar to a Painkiller, but the zombie is still my go-to. Service was pretty good overall -- the bartender stayed mostly in one corner of the bar, which actually worked in our favor since we got served fast. A couple of small quirks though: they only have a limited number of menus, so we kept having to pass one back and forth around the bar, which felt a little silly. They also seemed to be running low on drink cups at times, having to wash and rotate them back into use, which was an odd thing to notice at a bar this size. Also wish they had some food or snacks available, even something small -- but that's a minor gripe. Vibe-wise, this is easily one of my favorite tiki lounges I've been to -- doesn't quite topple Broken Compass Tiki for me, but it's up there. Fun, easy, great drinks, solid service despite the small hiccups, and a perfect spot if you're staying in the Torrance area. Would absolutely go back and would recommend it to anyone chasing that tiki lounge crawl.

I really want this place to make it, I really do. I started going here when it was owned by the original owners from Hawaii and it was on Hermosa Ave in Hemosa Beach. It has since moved to Torrance, (probably there were horrendous rent increases in H.B. as the old location hosts an upscale restaurant now, and the prices although not as ridiculously low as they once were (the original core customers were surfers) it's still reasonable. The restaurant has recently expanded to the room next door. The owner is a VERY nice lady who bought it from the original owners, who works hard, ) but on a Thursday night between 6-7 PM there were only a couple of other customers besides us and there's a reason. The food was not very good. The sweet bread was burnt and the stir fry vegetables were cold The waitress was very nice and I told her that I wanted to get a box for the vegetables and warm it up at home (there was too much for me to finish) she had another order of vegetables and gave it to use gratis (and we were using a 2 for 1 coupon that expired the day before) I suppose I could've got another piece of bread but I scraped off the burnt part. The beef also was burnt (again, the waitress was so nice, I could've asked them to redo it, but since it was a 2 for 1 special I didn't want them to lose money.) The chow fun is NOT made the way I like it, like in a Chinese restaurant, thick and greasy (but maybe Americans wouldn't like it greasy.) Macaroni salad was good, but was VERY cold. The portions especially meat, seemed small for a plate lunch but maybe I was used to the HUGE portions I get at L and L Barbeque in the Torrance outlet. This is not a place for dinner (maybe it's more crowded at lunch) the light is so bright it almost hurts your eye, makes me long for those restaurants where I need a flashlight to see the menu. The food was not cooked well, but the wait staff is very, VERY nice, so all I can say, is if you want cheap food quickly that fills you up served by VERY nice people, than come here. I was SO hungry when I went into the Beach Hut, a good spot to go after you drop off donations at the Salvation Army next door. The staff is friendly. It is very casual. They have a box of kid toys, crayons and coloring books which came very helpful to me. I did however have to wipe the toys down. They appear never tended to. The prices are good, the food is good. It's really exactly what you would expect for true Hawaiian cuisine. I'll go back, yummy! read more

Everything about this place is half-assed. I ate better food in jail. Unfortunately there are a bunch of half-asses that live around here that want to be seen eating at the cool local beachy type spot so they will probably remain in business a few more years.
