Biggest ripoff I've encountered in all the 50 States I've visited. Seems like a good deal but you're charged with a HOTEL fee AND a Resort FEE. While the hotel grounds are nicely kept the rooms are dumpy as they appear to have been renovated in 1980's. Best of all they have a popular beach bar @ the end of the elongated courtyard which all the rooms are on and the live bands blast into the room till 1am. I don't know why I'm giving it one star. Room was stinky and damp. No water pressure, very little hot water. Front desk staff was condescending. Management let parties continue on balcony until early morning. Not enough chairs at the pools. I will never stay here again. Stay elsewhere and visit Jimmy B's. From the pictures I've seen I thought this place would be great. I was so excited to book here. It was definitely at the TOP of my budget so I had high expectations only to be disappointed when I arrived. I paid nearly 1500 for 6 days with what was suppose to be a gulf view... it wasn't much.. just a narrow view. I hate how much I paid for the stay with the view and service I received. The restaurant was closed. The pool closed at 8 (we went down the road to my moms hotel and swam till 11:30pm) the "bar" closed at 9 so I never even got to enjoy that. (The bar wouldn't do walk up service so I'm just extremely disappointed. On top of the stay there. I was about 4 days in before I HAD TO CALL to get more towels I only had the 3 they gave us when we arrived. Which is crazy... the room was dirty before we even settled in... it had previous sand in the Carpets everywhere. And the whole parking situation.. what a joke. You have to back ALL the way out from one end of the hotel to another... crazy... and parking is very limited. You'll have cars taking up 2 spaces at a time and I had to park behind 7/11 multiple times. I'm just pisssd off given the price I paid for the service I received. Our third visit in 5 years. Great lication. Great access to beach and free cabanas. Love the value of this place. A little dated in rooms and showers have very little water pressure. Live music was awesome. Staff were great. Beach is super clean and private. Shell hunters will be pleased. Parking is tight so get there early and claim your spot. Donna, I am a local whom stayed at your resort on June 26th, 2018 and have to said the service for a resort is lacking on expectations. I booked a last minute booking via phone with an initial conversation with Hannah, whom was nice, but stated a few things that were over promised and under delivered. Post conversing with Hannah, I told her I would be calling back in 15 minutes for a moment to speak with the 4 whom would be staying at the resort with myself. Hannah left and I finalized reservation with Chris. I was informed via Hannah that the junior suite had 2 rooms with a living space in the middle. This room did not have either of those, in addition to a conversation regarding 2 cabanas for the ocean day. I addressed my concerns with Manager Christina whom was unable to render resolution to my concerns. I will not be back to thus said resort and will speak very ill of any others who are debating in the future to come. My reviews will reflect my dissatisfaction in addition to waking up at 745 in front of 412 to a tile maintenance guy pounding away at tile making it hard to sleep in the morning. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, giving an impression of vacation paradise, and the room cost was relatively less expensive than others advertised in the area. But the stars quickly peeled off in shock & awe at some of the practices here. Most places begin checking in after 2 pm. Their check in time is 4 pm and they only guarantee 4 pm. I sat in the lobby over 90 minutes after they said "soon". I watched others check-in and get rooms before me. Desk day staff was NOT friendly. Old guy was especially gruff. Female said "my pleasure" so frequently she was insincere. Lobby seating uncomfortable. Location of ice and soda machines works for 50% of guests. I must've come during "Brat Week". Perhaps not under the control of the hotel but certainly part of their responsibility to other guests. Screamers in the courtyard up 'til 10 p.m., rough housing in the pool so patrons had to get out, kids monopolizing billiards tables in the bar, young ones with their faces up to other guest rooms, grabbing chairs from the fronts of your room for their social parties, adults shouting up and down the walkways at ALL hours, under age drinkers were some of "my view". I got the impression parents were there to get drunk and look the other way, thinking kids are outside so "any behavior is okay". No sense in having 2 pools if they are overrun by the unruly. Jimmy D's Restaurant food is all fried junk food. Near parking is not guaranteed so there is constant jockeying for spaces. This includes disabled spaces. If you didn't "catch one", you were stuck parking across the 4 lane road behind a 7-11. No valet and no hotel solution for the handicapped. Shameful. No amount of "beautiful" can hide NOISY. The 5 piece booming band played from 11 a.m. to 11 pm on a Sunday, echoing up the courtyard. Thankfully I was near the front but half those rooms didn't get any sleep. The other days music started about 3:30 into the night. I joined the crowd for sunset views on two nights. The sign said "be seated, your waiter will be with you shortly". I was there more than 40 minutes, never got waited on. Watched one waiter bust his hump for the entire section and 4-7 other servers enjoy social hour at the other bar, offering no "service" under obviously poor management and no personal pride in service. The hotel is on beach side but 90% of the rooms have no beach view, it's over a dune a good walk away. Room was decent but dated. A/C was on 30 seconds off 30 seconds (so I shut it off all night). Outlets were very old. Towels appeared new. Floor appeared new and beds/décor were made to look sharp but sagged heavily in the middle. Baths were redone. I awoke to a 2-inch (dead) roach in the tub and a smaller one in the tines of my comb (eek) on the last day. So not as clean as I'd hoped. Though my room was non-smoking it must've butted up next to a smoker's room (plus they smoke on balconies and patios) so I constantly smelled it. At one point I had to bang on my own door to stop a 3:30 a.m. conversation outside my door. This hotel is for those with no expectations of peace & quiet. Partiers will love it. read more

We stayed at the Beachcomber on a weekend in November 2011. We had family members staying down the street at the Sirata, so we had ample opportunity to compare the two properties. We expected the Sirata to be better, but we were pleasantly surprised by the Beachcomber. The room was a reasonable rate (we were in the cheapest available); it was spotlessly clean, even if it was slightly dated; and the staff were very friendly and helpful. In fact, I think we had a better experience at the Beachcomber than we would have had at the Sirata. Our room had a completely adequate bathroom, a small refrigerator, and plenty of space to move around. I was particularly pleased with the ventilation in the bathroom. So many beach hotels have a musty smell -- probably brought on by mold/mildew from inadequately vented bathrooms. The Beachcomber must have some enhanced system, because I noticed many small vents near the ceiling in the bathroom, and not once did we have too much humidity in the room -- despite the high humidity outdoors. The room, including the bathroom, was very clean. The hotel is arranged like a rectangle, with the lobby on one end, the bar (Jimmy B's) on the other end (beyond the bar was the beach), and the rooms lining the other two sides. Unlike at the Sirata, where the noise from the bar permeates the rooms because of their proximity, we found the Beachcomber to be very quiet. This was true even when the bar was full. The bar seems to be a popular place -- a place to sit outside or inside, have a beer and watch their many, many televisions. Yet we found that even on nights on which the bar was quite active, we couldn't hear it. They also had a large heated pool which we did not use, but would have if we stayed longer. Also, the Internet was unexpectedly free. A nice touch, and different from other hotels. The beach itself is just incredibly spectacular. St. Pete Beach is the best beach in Florida, if you ask me. I would recommend the Beachcomber to anyone looking for a reasonable and quiet room on St. Pete Beach. read more

Let's be honest... It's not the Ritz. But it is fun, clean and friendly. You don't have to walk through the bar to get to the beach, there is a small path that goes right beside the one leading from the bar. It's located near just about everything so you can easily walk to just about anywhere. I'll definitely be back! read more

This is nothing more than an old Best Western. Only thing in the room updated in the last 20 years is the TV. Except for 4 rooms, the patio is just 2 chairs by your front door. Tattoo shop and XXX rental down the street gives you an idea of the neighborhood. Destin, FL is a much better vacation spot but if you're in Tampa stay away from here. read more

Very satisfied. Good value, spotless rooms, super-friendly staff, beautiful beach (direct access) and nice heated pool. Enjoyed the live music in the afternoons by the pool, from the beach bar attached. The decor is dated and beds could use a revamp, and our "courtyard view" was more of the roof and housekeeping closet, in room 402- I would request a room further from the lobby next time- but generally we were thrilled. I purchased my room for 1 night through Expedia. Everything went well until I checked out. I think they thought I was leaving the area that day because they charged my card $50. Luckily I have text alerts when my card is used. I walked back in and told them what happen and they said the refunded the money... But 2 days later instead of getting the money back I was charged AGAIN $50! They had $100 of my dollars for almost a week, I'm back home and they still owe me $50 and it's becoming a huge deal. I will never stay here again. I wanted to support the locally owned hotel but they are thieves! DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL! read more

I am giving it 3 stars due to the following: Pros: Great location Grounds are meticulously maintained Staff is friendly/helpful Housekeeping was awesome Cons: Rooms are dated. Literally had to kick room door to shut it. WiFi kept cutting out and continuously had to reset. No bath fan in bathroom...leave the door open. Outlets were unstable. Had to find stable outlet to charge phone. No elevator if you are on 2nd story. Almost killed myself bringing up luggage on 1st night there (after dark). The light was out on stairwell, but was fixed when I left. So maybe that gets a pardon. Bringing luggage down on my own when leaving. No elevators. Almost killed myself again.. Bar noise: I was near bar area and had no problem with it. I wrote a different review on Jimmy B's. Not good. Like others said, if you don't want to hear bar activity/music, get a room closer to Lobby. I was up early and you have to walk across bar area to get to beach. I was on beach by 8:00 a.m. There were beer cans, clothes, room keys, sandals, etc. scattered all over bar area. I guess you can't blame Resort for stupid/drunk people and have to clean up when bar closes at 3:00 a.m. Or should they have that cleaned up by then? This place was nice and would definitely return if I got awesome price on internet. The Resort Fees are crazy. I was exempt from them since I booked before they were mandatory. I bought a Sand Chair for $20 and saved a ton of $ on Cabana/daily expense which is now included/mandatory. If I now have to pay Resort Fee, I think I will look elsewhere for a more modern place to stay. read more

Okay so I live in Tampa, I am at the beach constantly. I decided to throw a birthday party at this place since it's next to post card inn and the toasted monkey. First you must know this is a big party hotel and gets real trashy in the evening. I mean you can't even go to the pool bc people are cursing rolling joints with their kids in the pool blaring music (sucky music No-one wants to hear) In other words if you have kids or are looking for a family vacation do NOT go here you will be disappointed. You go the beach and can only hear loud blaring music from post card inn or music from the teenagers sitting next you. Girls are in thongs everywhere bc like I said this is a party area for 18-25yr olds. People smoke cigarettes and pot on the beach. Now the hotel rooms.. beds are cheap coiled beds with pillows that are so cheap idk where you could even buy pillows similar. I felt like I didn't sleep and my neck hurt. The toilet paper is like card board paper the shower barley spits water. The bathrooms were definitely dated ..I don't think I've seen a toilet like that in 15 years. The tv I suppose was decent and the sheets on the bed were at-least clean. Nothing was really opened like the bar or restaurant since an employee tested positive for covid so can't say much about that. I will say with the resort fee it includes a cabana which is nice since they are typically 30-45$ per day, however when we arrived Saturday the cabanas were full and the beach was insanely packed. Anyway I would never stay here again. It's cheap and full of trashy people. read more

I think this is a great value hotel on the beach. When we arrived there were super nice staff working the front desk. We were offered to check in about 2 hours early and have an upstairs room or wait for downstairs. We opted for upstairs which was nice to have less traffic walked since room doors are in the courtyard area. We were also on the end closest to the lobby(farthest from the live music) which was nice since i had a four year old with me. The hotel is small and easy to get around and the beach is super close, the cabanas are great and make going back n forth to the beach very easy since you don't have to set up your own things. This hotel is home to Jimmy's beach bar so it can get loud and reckless. You will see lots of cigarette smokers all over, so if this bothers you I would choose a hotel with less of a party scene. Overall, it didn't bother me at all because I like a party scene. There was a 7/ll directly across the street as well as a beach shop. Tons of places to eat within walking distance so the location is great. Overall, I will be coming back. We are local ish(Orlando) and this is a great long weekend spot. read more

Rooms are ok, not really up to date, but the AC works great! If you enjoy nightlife, this is the place for you. If you prefer a quiet room at night (not hearing the constant thumping of bar music and drunk patrons passing by your room until after 1 am), then steer clear. Pools are great, beach access is awesome. Staff is friendly and helpful. Fitness room is a joke, only has one treadmill (that wasn't working), one bike, and one elliptical - that's it. The room was alright. Really would have preferred a queen or king bed rather than two single beds. The windows up front were nice, but if you looked at them at the right angle walking by, you could see the mirror and the beds (and whoever was on them, very awkward!). The biggest dealbreaker was the parking. I do not have a huge vehicle, but even if I had a very small one, it would have been difficult. It was just ridiculous having to drive out of the very narrow parking area backwards (not to mention it is DANGEROUS), with only one way in and out. There were also some questionable characters walking about that made me want to check my car every 20 minutes to make sure there was no crazy business going on. The staff was very friendly, however, and the lobby and room were clean. Considering my options, I would stay somewhere else, if only for better parking arrangements. La Quinta in Lealman offers rooms for half the price, and they come with a microwave and a mini fridge, and the parking is awesome. It's not on the beach, but it's an alternative if you're looking for one. read more

Wow, great price 100$ for a night and we were able to check in early. Pretty courtyard view to enjoy with beautiful fountains and landscaping. On the water but you have to trek always down to get to it unless your in a room towards the back but then you have bar noise to fight. The rooms are fine- nothing special beds seems small but we had two full size. The staff is nice- they greet you each time you are in the lobby. They have heated pools which looked nice. The beach bar is amazing- definitely the reason I would be back- they have three bars and live music! Parking was a nightmare! The alley on the side is a disaster. Overall I would come back for the price and location you can't go wrong. My friends and I had a great girls night out here. read more

All rooms updated (new fixtures, new bedding, new carpet) as of April 2014. Our room was clean and average. The location of this place can not be beat. Right on the beach, tiki bar on site, two pools, what more could you ask for? The front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating; great service. Never again. Just spent Spring Break there and for over $350 per night was expecting more than what we got. First of all, one of the beds was so old that it was sunken down in the middle. Also, neither of the 2 TVs were working so had to have maintenance come down and fix them. The soda machines were not working most of the time. When we first went to tell the front desk, she suggested we just run across the street to the convenience store. Housekeeping was a joke. They only serviced our room twice while we were there so we never had enough clean towels. The bedding was not changed at all the whole time we were there. When they did service our room, they did not empty all of the trash cans and never gave us more toilet paper. Had to go to the outside bathrooms to get more toilet paper. When we spoke to management about some of these problem they were unsympathetic. We are used to staying in really nice hotels - and this wasn't one of them. This reminded us of an old MOTEL. Hotel has the best bar on the beach. Jimmy B's being right outside your door makes this hotel worth the stay. The rooms are a little grungy, but clean, and there was hardly any hot water in the mornings. However, for the price, it was a great place to stay. Staff was friendly and accommodating at all times. The hotel offers chair rentals outside, but you don't need it. If you stay here just hang out on the beach and at the bar outside. This hotel is also great for being within walking-distance to lots of restaurants which was high on our list of musts. Overall, we had a great time. read more

The reason for this review is not to rave about how amazing and lavish the hotel is but yet just how great the customer service was. From the very start Sequoia at the front desk was so pleasant. She was very upbeat and positive and you could tell she truly enjoys her job. This was the kind of service you would expect to get at a 5 star resort. Not only was she happy to be of service but the fact that it was almost midnight and most of my group was intoxicated showed her true patience. She handled it very well. You all are lucky to have her as an employee and I will be returning on my next stay just based on this over the top customer service. I stayed during a busy weekend and had no problems. The front desk found me a room that was ready at noon, I did not have to wait until 4pm. Every staff member I came in contact with were extremely nice and professional. They went above and beyond. The Beach Cabanas are well worth the resort fee along with everything else you get with it. Went to stay at the hotel for 4 nights with some friends and family in November and had an outstanding experience. Really like the location of the hotel and it is a great plus that they have a really cool beach bar with live music, to chill and have a few beers. The food was always timely when ordering from players or sitting on the deck at Jimmy B's. Had an issue with a chicken sandwich but was quickly resolved in a timely and friendly manner by Brandon the Bar Manager who is a really cool and down to earth guy. All in all it was a great time for a much needed getaway and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Would definitely come back soon. Joey read more

This hotel is okay.. good for the price. The rooms are clean. The staff are nice. My biggest problem was the parking was very narrow and a dead end (you had to back out of a long narrow alley to get out). I was also dissapointed with the view.. when I booked with travelocity it advertise it as an "ocean view". When I get there.. the ocean is just slightly viewable from a looong distance through some trees if you press your face agaist the window and look to the extreme right.. like I said through lots of trees. Right. some view ;(and sadly I paid extra for this "view"). I dont think Beachcombers has any rooms that overlook the beach... all the hotels face sideways. .I didnt spend too much time in the room anyway. I stayed here in June with two friends and had a wonderful, fun & relaxing time. There are two pools and one is right by Jimmy Bs so they have bar and food service poolside while listening to the band. The food was really good and reasonably priced (spinach/artichoke flatbread was excellent) and the drinks were good also. We had a garden view room with 2 double beds and the room was a decent size with a very large closet. The rooms have been recently remodeled so they are nicer than most older hotels that are constructed this way. read more

I wanted to love this place, but I just didn't. On the positive notes, the five acres of gardens are well maintained and beautiful. They are filled with palm trees and hibiscus flowers. The staff- from the grounds maintenance, cleaning staff, front desk manager, to security- were all very welcoming and friendly. Jimmy's Beach Bar and the beach are right in the hotel's backyard. parking is free and convenient. The restaurants are all in walking distance. That being said, the public is welcome to Jimmy's Bar and all of the St Petes hotels are accessible to the beautiful beach and the restaurants. There's a short strip - Gulf blvd- and all the hotels and restaurants are along it with the beach behind them all. The whole area is family friendly. At the Beachcomber itself, I was very disappointed by the look of the lobby and the rooms. The pictures and website look much nicer than what it looks like in actuality. These garden rooms are outdated and dark. The rooms were clean enough, but not what I expected in terms of the look and feel for a vacation spot. The facade of the building facing the road and the lobby are plain, stark, underwhelming. It was my first time in St Pete and all or most of the hotels looked to be about the same in terms of when they were built and style, so I'm not sure where else I would've preferred to stay. Next time I might consider a different beach because of the hotel selection, even though the beach itself was gorgeous. It seemed like a lot to pay - $225 ish a night during Spring break week- for what we got in return. I didn't want to spend too much time in the room or lobby. We chose this hotel which was midrange in price compared to what was available in St Pete. I think we paid for the location. read more

For the price you cannot beat. Had a question about a priceline deal so I called and they gave me an even better rate. Staff is outgoing friendly. Will go out of way to help you. The outside looks nice. One pool I had thought was a large hot tub, was not it was a small small pool. The second pool was much better much bigger. The bars were nice. Three of them to choose from under a tiki. Live music 7 nights a week and even for a Monday it was poppin after seven thirty. Band was good had good taste. Drinks are not too bad for beach price. Two rounds cost average 14-19 a Round(2 people mixed drinks) draft beer 3.50 each not bad at all. What I did not like about the bar. I went to all three tiki bars, yet each tiki bar I went to put a 50.00 hold on my card for each bar. (bars are about twelve feet from each other on same patio) even if I said I was paying cash. so in my vacation I had 150.00 that I could not use--bummer. This was my 21st birthday so drinking was the game plan. The location is prime. 7/11 across the street, mcdonalds right up the road plenty of mom and pop places to eat. A lot of other resort hotel bars along the strip, guy Harvey, like two trade wind island resort bars. Crabby bills, the drunken clam. Hotel room- was not out dated like a lot of comments in here. 24" LED TV, small clean mini fridge that's so cold it froze my waters solid. The ac is literally right next to the bed so when I turn it on it's like putting my face outside a car window on a brisk morning. The bathtub is very low(not sure just my room or not) about half my shin nine inches off the floor. The toilet needs to be updated the old fashioned public urinal pull is how you flush it. Toilet paper is located behind the toilet (not the best planning) For whatI paid I cannot argue with the minor issues for a pool viewing hotel on the beach. Parking sucked. Flat out. It wasn't busy when I stayed but if it were summer that parking lot would suck. About fifty spots I front of hotel and these TINY TINY side ally's to park in. Not putting a brand new car in a tiny ally... Would I stay here again? Meh if I found elsewhere that looks a bit nicer for a couple extra bucks would probably hit that up but yes I would come back for the price and location mostly location it's prime read more

Buyer Beware! If you buy your room over Priceline and prepay, you are at the mercy of the Beachcomber staff, and at this hotel that's bad, bad news. They specifically allocate "special" rooms for their discounted Priceline customers. And when I say "special" I mean next to the laundry room, next to the tiki bar and pool where you hear the constant and anxiety-producing thuds from the house band until 1:30am, and next to the ice machine. Obviously, they need to fill these rooms and they use locked in Priceline customers to do so. I can prove it...when asked at check-in if I could have a quieter room...Cassandra said she had one but then called her manager when she couldn't change it. The manager wouldn't budge. I tried the room hoping for the best, but it was so noisy from the tiki bar it was like being inside a nightclub. Panic kicked in and I asked to be moved...they initially refused saying the hotel was full. I reminded Cassandra and Jennifer that they just said they had more rooms in the quieter zone of the hotel...uhh, I dont have amnesia...and the manager relented and moved me with some significant guilt to what the "engineers" call the "ice room", a room next to an industrial ice machine. They made it very clear that they wouldn't move me again. Ahh the ice room, well someone had smoked in it and none of the windows opened. Called Priceline and they attempted to negotiate with Cassandra/Jennifer. To no avail, they suckered me, I was stuck in the smokey ice room. They were kind enough to call in the engineers who luckily had a biodegradable spray they sopped the place with at 10pm at night. I gave them $5, they saved me from leaving and booking at another hotel . Why am I giving this place 2 stars instead of 1, well this is partially my fault. Honestly, in prime season how did I think I was going to get a beach hotel for $70/night...obviously, it was too good to be true. Second off, I also know that hotels you pre-pay with Priceline give you sub-standard rooms, but 80% of the time it works out. But let's face it, its roulette with these non-chain, boutique-type hotels. Other info...this is an old, old hotel....they have re-done it...but few power outlets, no ability to open your blinds or you have people looking at you from the parking lot or quad, dingy, in wall air-conditioning units that have to be on 24/7, bad parking.
