Casual beach resort in beautiful St. Pete Beach. They have a sports bar, beach bar and a couple of pools. The resort is directly on the beach so you're just a few steps away from the ocean and powdery sand. We even had a dolphin sighting while we were there. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Jimmy B's Beach Bar was just a few steps from our room and offered casual food like burgers and chicken tenders. There is live acoustic music during the day and at night it turns into a popular beach nightclub. My favorite part about Beachcomber was the proximity to a nice stretch of St. Pete Beach.

After reading some of the reviews on here, I was worried about staying here. Yes, it is an older hotel, but it has some positive features. Number one--it has great access to the beach. On the beach, you get a cabana or chairs with umbrellas. The guys out there are very friendly and accommodating. The room itself is nice. There are chairs outside so you can sit and look at the beautiful courtyard. The bathroom is small and awkward. A definite throwback from when it was built. Our room was clean and smelled nice. I will say that most beach hotels are somewhat dated, but I feel this place has tried to keep up with the times.

Pathetic paint job

Have stayed many times over the past 20 years. The hotel has recently been renovated. However, the renovation job that was done is less than acceptable for the rates charged!! The exterior of the building is still in desperate need of cleaning and painting in several areas. The bathrooms need further renovation. Paint was peeling off bathroom door etc. Also, bathroom fixtures etc looked as if they hadn't been cleaned prior to our arrival. Jimmy B's is still a fun place with great entertainment. However, they now offer a limited menu with many popular items from the previous menu eliminated. Also, we were disappointed in the quality of the food we ordered. Coconuts, next door, had awesome food in comparison.

DIRTY!!!HAIR ON SHOWER WALL I decided to come to the beachcomber on a trip with my family. But unfortunately was disgusted when I got here starting off, we had to park across the street from the resort(if you can even call it that). Which may not be a problem for some but lugging your luggage back was a pain. Especially with a five year old. One of the pools was closed due to renovation, in compensation free cabana at the beach, but it's first come first serve. Which was a little bit disappointing... so we decide to go to the other pool that was open and it was tiny, packed, and covered in sand at the bottom, and just dirty. After the pool, we came back to relax and rinse off. But was extremely disappointed to say the least to find HAIR ON THE SHOWER WALL. There was also hair on the couches and pillows. After words go to turn on the TV and enjoy...but there was no signal for the TV. Extremely disappointed beachcomber.

The rusty wall in the bathroom entry

I have stayed at this resort 8 times in the past 7 years. The quality of the features of this resort have all gone down hill. The rooms have been remodeled to a very low level of expectation. They do not clean your room during your stay. You have to change your own sheets if you request new bedding. We did not have our trash removed or towels refreshed unless we called For the service. The room was not swept of sand during our 4 night stay. The drinks at Jimmy Bs beach bar had very little alcohol in them. I called the bartender out on a rum runner i watched her make. She said that they are out of dark rum and it costs a $1 extra for it. I said a rum runner calls for dark rum so it should not cost extra and if you are out of dark rum then take the drink off the menu. The front desk is also not monitoring the issuing of wrist bands like they used to. This makes it easier for people to reserve their beach cabanas even if they are not guests. What has happened to the management of this property? I'm so disappointed.

Great location. The rooms have been remodeled but seems very sloppy. The window treatments were broken in the room as well as some of the lamps were not in working condition. Very unimpressed for the price paid just for a 2 night stay.

Hotel is a joke. The rooms are old and loud. You will get no sleep. They are always asking you for money . We had a awful experience.

It was a very fun, happy, vibe that was 50s retro inspired. If only the weather was warmer during my visit, I felt like I really could've maximized my time at the hotel. They really made great use of their space with Life-size games, mini golf, and not to mention the beach was just steps away. I will definitely have to come back when the weather is warmer!!

The pool deck is whimsical with floats and the beach is right across the street. What a treat. The jets in the spa (hot tub) are well placed on mid-lower back and ankles which was appreciated! I think the pool was salt water or least wasn't overly chlorinated and still seemed clean. Only concern was that the "hot tub" was not at all hot. It was slightly warm to room temp. Shouldn't it be 102 or even better 104 degrees? Overall- great experience. Keep up the great work with healthy restaurant food options and the positive staff members!

Unfortunately, the noise level significantly impacted our stay. We were in Room 28, and directly behind the room is a hallway used by staff from the upstairs bar. Throughout the first night, we heard a heavy door repeatedly slamming and staff using rolling carts to transport trash. The noise continued until about 3:00 a.m., making it very difficult to sleep. The next morning, I expressed my concerns to the front desk. He was polite, apologized, and said he would pass the information along. However, the noise resumed again the following night. Around 11:30 p.m., I stepped into the hallway and observed someone pulling trash on one of the carts; they did not appear interested in engaging when I tried to address it. Closer to midnight, after another loud door slam, I spoke with a different staff member who was very receptive and respectful. After that conversation, the noise level did decrease. I understand that hotel operations continue behind the scenes, but for a property positioned as an upscale boutique experience, I would expect better late-night noise control -- especially in rooms directly adjacent to service areas. The hotel has a lot of potential, and the cleanliness was excellent. However, due to the repeated overnight noise disruption, I would be hesitant to stay in that location of the property again.

The views are beautiful, and the location is right on the beach. There are plenty of spaces in the lobby for working, plenty of meeting rooms (or ball rooms if you're there for a formal event), and areas to just relax or work. The resort provides live music various days of the week as well. I will say that I was surprised about the lack of dining options. There is a lobby bar (which doesn't open until 3pm), and just two restaurant options. Maritana is only open a few days a week and not open until 5:30pm, although the lobby bar does serve a few small plates. The Society Table has a bar within their restaurant (Rowe Bar I believe), and I experienced both as they both have different menus. The lobby bar menu is small but great; the Wagyu Sliders and charcuterie board were both delicious. The wine list is fairly extensive as well. I dined at the society table for lunch on the day that I left and I got the Gumbo with jalapeño cornbread. This was very delicious; I do feel there should've been more than a few pieces of chopped up shrimp. My waitress was wonderful though and very kind as well as the hostess. For the days we were provided food by the resort for the work conference, I was very impressed! All of the breakfast, lunch, and dinner options were incredibly extensive, fresh, and delicious. The servers were very attentive and helpful. The room service menu although overpriced and included a $5 "delivery charge," is very extensive and tasty. For example, an omelet with toast (small salad included with the omelette), was almost $60 including tip. That being said, it was the best omelette I've ever had. The guest services for room service and the cleaners were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Evan! Do note that this is a cashless resort. There are a few shops on the first floor for souvenirs, basic necessities for traveling, and then an adorable little shop/café with ice cream, coffee, wine, snacks, and drinks. On to the room! I really enjoyed my room. I feel like for one person or even two, it's a pretty spacious room. The bed was very comfortable as well as pillows. They cleaned my room each day, and provided new towels. The bathroom was clean and a decent size for one person. All of the events that the hotel put on for our conference were outstanding. We had a welcome party and a beach party, and I was incredibly impressed. The food was delicious, the staff incredibly attentive and kind, and the music wonderful! The Don CeSar was the perfect place for our conference and I would highly recommend a company conference there. Between the delicious food, impeccable service, beautiful resort, and location right on the beach, I would recommend this spot for an event, quick getaway, or staycation.

That's about it for the positives. It is a VERY dated hotel so if you like fresh and new, look at the 2014-opened Hotel Zamora a hundred yards down Gulf Blvd, however it is not beachfront, so that's its huge problem. The rooms here you can tell have seen some better years with patches and paint easily spotted on the walls. The appliances in the kitchenette are very old but perfectly functional if you want to enjoy a week on the beach without the expense of going to restaurants for every meal. If you're wanting to catch a football game on TV, better to visit a bar because the rooms still have old school tube televisions. The front desk is not staffed 24x7, so there are restrictions on check in and check out times to keep in mind. My only real complaint about this place is security. The room I stayed in had broken locks on at least two of the windows making it impossible to lock them. The door locks still use traditional keys, so who knows if someone has copied yours in the past. The rooms on the south side of the property (not sure about the north side) have a sidewalk area and second door on that back side exiting from the bedroom; it would be easy for someone to break into the room from that site without it being very obvious. So if you have some true valuables, you probably won't feel comfortable leaving them in the room. I'm not sure if the front desk has some more secure method of storing items for guests.
