You all know the situation when you really want to go to 2.5 stars but that isn't an option. Pros were location and taste of most food options (breakfast burrito and omelet) but I have never had more bland hash browns ever. Literally boiled and riced potatoes with no seasoning added. So thanks, I get to hammer with salt pepper and ketchup in an effort to save this disaster after the fact. 3 egg omelette for $8 with no fillings? And then the fillings either $1.5 (cheese and veggies) to $3 (meat) that seems a tad steep. Also no spoon when you serve me yogurt? So I either abandon my kids at the table or wait for a server (it is order at counter and find a seat) to wander by..and then discover no jelly/jam with toast... c'mon... $48 for breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids (who shared a yogurt and a side for fruit). read more

Read the reviews never having been to Bristo, RI. People raved about the place. Unfortunately I can't say the same! Called to see if seating available, said yes there were 3 tables first come basis. Left to get there immediately only to be informed no more indoor seating available. Offered us outdoor with no heaters or to go. Chose to go and while waiting a table opened up. Asked to have the table was told no because we had changed our order to take out due to lack of seating. Took our food back to our hotel to find out that they had messed up our order. Was given ham instead of sausage and paid for a blueberry muffin that they didn't give us. The blueberry muffins on displays were not the ones given for orders to go. McDonalds muffins are bigger than the one my poor husband got. Called them to let them know. They didn't offer anything to us for their mistake. By the time we got the muffin and sausage the rest of my breakfast was ice cold. Suggested that I get a hot one and that wasn't an option. The Beehive Cafe is an adorable neighborhood gem in Bristol, RI. It's the perfect way to end a ride along the East Bay Bikepath. I've gone two times and you can definitely expect a wait on the weekends, but it's worth it. You'll have to wait in line to order at the counter, but hopefully you've brought along a friend who can snag a table somewhere for you. The polenta cakes with poached eggs and pesto are divine. Mediocre Food and Poor Service Tried to give Beehive a few chances, and every time I was just more disappointed. The food is mediocre with some interesting choices, however the prices they charge do not justify mediocracy. Servers like to forget tables, especially when sitting upstairs during the dinner service. Oh, the Beehive! While I've been there frequently to get a quick breakfast and a hot beverage, I haven't had the chance to explore the menu as much as I'd like. From the limited dishes/items I've tried here, I think the Beehive is fantastic. I usually come here on my way to a work site on the East Bay, so I typically get a hot chai latte or a coffee and a flax jax bar. Their beverages are strong and tasty, and the flax jax bar makes me think that I'm eating healthily! It's perfectly sweet and delicious (though a little crumbly and hard to eat on the go). I've also stopped for lunch and I always end up getting the butternut squash sandwich. It's to die for; do yourself a favor and try it! The squash is perfectly cooked and sandwiched between two generous slices of fresh bread (GF bread is available as well!) and served with caramelized onions, pesto, and cheddar. It's just so darn good. You can get it with a side salad (fresh and healthy) or the roasted chickpeas, which are well seasoned and a filling accompaniment. I'd love to sample some of the other options at the Beehive, and even try it out for dinner. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, and situated right in downtown Bristol, walking distance to everything (including the water). The space inside is a bit small and they can get busy so sometimes it's hard to come by a table, but I promise it's worth it. read more

Always the best in local, fresh, and delicious fare here! It's very popular with college students, locals, and retirees, as it allows for interesting food, time to enjoy it, and chat. It's always crowded. I'd be interested in knowing when it's not! I love that The Beehive refuses to relocate, though it has expanded its outdoor seating, to allow for more customers. If it were to move, the vibe would certainly change. When I lived in Providence, I'd schlep to Bristol just for The Beehive, and silently curse them for not being in trendy and accessible Providence. Now that I live in Bristol, I'm a regular. Just tried the cornbread veggie hash, with two eggs, and amazing flax toast. It's a great dish! I wish I could rave about their baked goods that come from outside, as well. Items in the case seems consistently decent, but they pull out trays of over baked (hard but not stale) donuts, or as in today, flavorless hard cinnamon buns. They look fabulous, but aren't worth eating, and aren't cheap. I should learn, and stop trying. read more

My boyfriend and I were very excited to try the beehive this morning for brunch. We placed our order at 11:25 with the hostess. This took some time, as their POS/computer system seemed to be down. Finally, we headed upstairs to await our order of two pancakes, a grilled cheese and a side of tomato soup. After waiting 50 minutes, my boyfriend went downstairs to see what was going on with our simple order, and it turned out the kitchen never received it. He was offered a pastry as compensation, but we had already waited a long time and were hungry. Due to covid, we expected things may run a little slower, but this was unacceptable. We politely declined the pastry and asked for a refund (as you have to pay ahead of time+ tip, per their COVID policy). On our way out, the hostess told us to "have a good one"... Unfortunately, I don't think we will be visiting the beehive again. read more

One of my top ten favorite places in Rhode Island. There's always a line, but it's worth the wait! The decor is very cute and I love that you have the option of eating indoors or outside. The peach ricotta french toast (a special this past weekend) is amazing. It's absolutely delicious. The pancakes are fluffy and flavorful, and the coffee is excellent. I've had their smoothies as well, and they are on point. The Beehive's baked goods also always look amazing, too! Prices are very reasonable. For example, I had two eggs and a giant pancake for $5. I'm also in awe of the servers! They navigate going under the bar area and carrying food up and down the stairs like experts! read more

If I could I would give this a 10+. It's not my first time here and definitely won't be my last. My sister lives close by and this is our go to breakfast place. We went with 7 of us for a late breakfast on a lazy day before Thanksgiving. I tried everybody's breakfast and they were all yummy. I personally had the rhubarb and strawberry French toast which was like having dessert for breakfast. The peppermint mocha was also a special treat as was the fresh squeezed orange juice. My sister had the black bean frittata with roasted chick peas and the winter elixir tea. She was a happy camper and so was I after trying her yummy breakfast. Believe the buzz about the Beehive Cafe. It's my little bit of heaven on a Summer's day. When the sun is shining and I'm in the mood for an iced coffee and a bight to eat, I place my order and head up to a cozy spot on the outdoor patio. The menu isn't huge, but it is filled with lovely vegetarian dishes (try the chickpea burger!), yummy grass fed beef burgers, and tasty sandwiches. Your side options, the dressed greens and the fried chickpeas will make your choice rather difficult, as both are terrific. They are open for dinner a couple of nights and you can find the dinner menu on the back of the menu. I haven't had breakfast there yet, but I've been dying to try their yummy sounding breakfast sandwiches. They also sell local sodas, lots of tea and espresso drinks, and scrumptious baked goods. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. I love the system of placing your order and getting a different farm animal figurine to mark which table has what order. My only gripe is that when it's busy, there is always a line for the single bathroom. The location is superb, right in downtown Bristol. The upstairs patio has a lovely view of the water, where you can watch the boats in the harbor and the locals and tourists picnicing in Independence park. If I lived closer to the Beehive, I would be hanging out there every day. The food, the fabulous coffee, and the fantastic location make for a wonderful experience every time. read more

OMG !! This is one of the best restaurants that I have been to in the metro Providence area. Went there with some friends for dinner. Nestled in an old charming house on Franklin St in downtown Bristol, this eating house has all the personality you can ask for....cozy, cute, inviting, friendly. The main floor is the waiting area where a big table for about 8 is available for dinner. Dinner only served on Thurs, Fri and Sat. The large pastry display shows yummy and excellent sweets. They made my mouth water ...AND....I am not a big dessert person...that should tell you how good they looked ! ! ! ! The main dining area is upstairs, not big, but cozy. Seating for about 30 people. The menu is varied and everything is described well. Service is prompt, attentive and very polite. The waitstaff makes you feel right at home.... The crowd is largely people from the Bristol area, but this is about to change......after this review goes out !! LOL..... Our table got four different dishes and I tried them all (devoured is a better word....since everything was just SO GOOD !!!) The Thai fish cakes were part of the Specials and they were outstanding. Nicely seasoned, with a bit of a spice note to them. Grilled to perfection on the outside, moist and sweet on the inside.. My BF, who is not a fan of fish tried the fish cakes and he like them....that should tell you how good and nicely prepared these fish cakes were..... The meatloaf was one of the best I have ever had.. A wonderful dish made with Aquidneck farm's grass-fed beef, smoked bacon, housemade sausage and pancetta, with smoked tomato ketchup, roasted garlic mashed potatoes and grilled zucchini (which had a nice spiciness to them...Excellent! ) The juiciness of the meat and the tenderness of the slice was just Crazy Good !!!! The Pesto Grilled chicken was very nice...made from Baffoni's farmchicken breast, mashed butternut squash, Atwell'sgold cheese, pesto and toasted pinenut. A moist, tender, delicious dish. The Smoked Salmon BLT, a lightly toasted flaxseed bread with smoked salmon, smoked bacon, red onion, tomato, baby arugula and boursin. I am not a sandwich type of guy...and I would get this one any day of the week. We finished dinner with the Orange Passion Cake. Another winning choice for the night !! Great selections of specialty beers and wines, as well as some more traditional choices... Overall a place that I can see myself having a meal over and over and over.... After much hype and rave reviews from my friends, I came to the Beehive over the summer. And I'd have to say I'm not a fan of anything here except the great idea of using toys as table identifiers. Overpriced, under-seasoned food in cramped conditions, and there is no table service except at dinner. I don't think that anyone should be paying over fifteen dollars for a meal that does not include waitstaff, especially when the food isn't good to begin with. Walking in there on a weekend was so chaotic and confusing; they really need to do something about their layout and organization, especially the cash register/ordering area. The food was a total snooze, and our breakfast was served with a puddle of water on the plate from the tomatoes and spinach (which were supposed to be grilled) which ran into the eggs and bacon (also undercooked). Gross. I've been told by multiple people how good this place is, and I think that it probably used to be much better when it wasn't so popular -- they need to address the increase in customer volume all around. read more

I love me a good smoothie, so I popped into The Beehive to grab one before heading off for a hike in the sunshine. Little did I know this place would be as adorable as its name. I love the cozy, quaint little space painted with cheery colors and filled with happy faces. The exposed beams give it a very homey quality, and the fact that the seating area is a loft is beyond adorable. The service was great - a very pleasant and warm young lady took my order at the counter space, and another promptly brought it to me with a smile. The smoothie itself was pretty good, although there was a weird grit to it that I hadn't expected. I'm looking forward to returning for a full-on meal, as this spot is too cute to resist! read more

This is a hard place to write a review for, because they have so much to offer. Since, I moved to Bristol I have eaten there about 6 times and had take out a handful. I have had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also offer a great deal of homemade baked goods, including some incredible bread. You can call to order and pick it up. The ambiance is casual and can even be romantic if you get the right night. I think this is a great date night (but they only offer dinner Thurs, Fri, and Sat). Breakfast: Is the best, you can't go wrong. In the summer it is the nicest thing to have breakfast at their outdoor seating. Also, they have fresh squeeze OJ, which has a special place in my heart. Lunch: I am a big fan of their sandwiches they use fresh and local ingredients. My personal favorite is the the Butternut squash sandwich. And anything with the flax bread is worth a taste. The side salad and the chickpeas are great sides. Dinner: Just recently I went to dinner. I personally like ordering from their specials, because you can get most of their normal menu for lunch. The specials are only served at dinner. Everything b-hive makes is creative and this makes their specials worth the try. What I adored this time was the fish chowder; now, this was real chowder. In my world there is chowder (which is think and creamy) and soup (everything else). The chowder was creamy and was quite unique, it had a little heat and a nice addition of cilantro, which was interesting. The beer selection, though all from can or bottle, is really good, unique and even difficult beers to find. The only issue I had all evening was that the servers coming up the stairs were a little loud and same with clearing dishes. Overall, I think this restaurant could be one of Rhode Island's best restaurants and it comes down to the fact that they put so much care in everything they do. The Beehive is one of the best restaurants on the East Bay, right on the waterfront in Bristol. I've been going here regularly since I moved to the East Bay, and never been disappointed. The Beehive is a cafe open for breakfast and lunch, featuring locally sourced ingredients. They feature great comfort food, but healthier than you would find elsewhere. For example, their great burger and sandwiches come with salad or roasted chickpeas on the side. They also feature pastries and a good selection of coffee and teas. Today I had the BLT, which they do very well. The bread they use is the good stuff, like you would find at an expensive bakery, toasted thick, and the bacon, lettuce, and tomato are all great. Simply put, they know what they are doing at the Beehive. The space is cozy, and they are often busy during the lunch hour, so be aware that you may or may not be able to get a table, especially if you have a group. That being said, between the upstairs and deck, and ground level patio, they have good space. On a sunny day like today, Beehive is the perfect place to grab a picnic lunch and head down to the waterside park. Good stuff! read more
