Being a certified Crustie (patent pending), I continue to stand by the notion that CRUST is one of the best sandwiches out there...period. I recently made my way out to their Milpitas location. This spot is like the OG one that originally opened its doors way back in 2019. Knowing this, it was really cool to be able to dine at the location where all the magic first started. When I arrived for lunch, there was literally a line 20 deep. Amazingly, the line moved at a brisk pace and before I knew it I was already at the register. Having tried nearly every sandwich on their menu already, I noticed one that was new to me...the beef brisket. Given this, I went for this one instantly. When it came out, I just have one word to describe it...WOW. The super tender, flavorful meat was simply amazing. Coupled with their signature, perfectly toasted sourdough, and seriously WOW! The shop itself is pretty simple: Order at the counter, dine in or outside of the restaurant, or take things to go. They slice their meats and cheeses in-house, and they have some vegan option on the menu as well. We ordered a Hot Pastrami and choco coco cookie to split. While I believe in a 1:1 sandwich-diner ratio, one sandwich can be enough for 2 people. Both items were great- the bread was soft and crunchy, the meat was fatty and salty, and the cookie wasn't overly sweet and almost had a cookie-dough like thing going for it. But their sandwiches are a story of their own. I can't describe how delicious they are. I ordered the Genoa salami sandwich with everything and my goodness, I finished every bite. It tasted how it tasted last time I had it, delicious! Again everything is made fresh and they are quick! Their meat is spot on and I love how they have a machine to cut them right there in person. My buddy been telling me about this place and I happened to be by there so I picked up a few sandwiches. Came home with two Italians and the new hot pastrami. The hot pastrami was a biggie and it came in a box. It was a few dollars more than the other sandwiches at around $18 but it was a lot of food, I had to eat half and then half again later. Each time I was so full I had to rethink my life choices while waiting to digest the meal so be warned; you will get full. This location got really packed after I came in at around 11:50am but they knocked out the sandwiches pretty quick, not a long wait at all. It's a nice clean store tucked away among businesses. CRUST finished making my sandwich within 15min for my DoorDash driver to pick up. I ordered the popular spicy Turkey sandwich and the spicy house sauce is delicious. My partner ordered the Premier Sandwich. Now the..."could improve". The value wasn't there for me. Our meat ratio was pretty low. I've attached a photo comparison of our Premier Sandwich that had a few thin slices of protein, which was VERY different from the DoorDash photos. Our sandwiches probably had 25% the amount of meat that was shown on photos online :( At $13.50 a sandwich on the app, I didn't feel like my order was worth it. Ordering in the store may be cheaper and they may give more filling. I recommend skipping DoorDash and going in person if you're looking to eat from here. read more
