Patrick is very responsible and conscientious. He told me to come by early on a Saturday to get my bike fixed as a walk in. My brakes on my beach cruiser were super loud and annoying g and he worked so hard to scrape the paint off my bike to make them quieter. He called to update me about the situation. That was very courteous. He found a solution the next day. I purchased a rear rack, he installed the rack, installed new gears and grips and fixed the brakes for less than $100. I would definitely go back. Patrick didn't try to sell me the most expensive items in the store. I appreciate that because I dont know anything about bikes. read more

Overall very mixed about this place. Everyone is nice enough but the customer support and service is just a bit off the wall. Every time i try to get some service here it's as if no one understands the meaning and they end up sending you away instead of helping. I brought my gf in to take a look at bikes for her bday, they're obviously low on stock due to COVID but still had numerous bikes sitting on the floor, the guy at the rope stands there and tells us he has no bikes in stock basically trying to turn us away. Why?? I call to have my bike serviced with a pretty serious brake issue- he tells me they're booked...and that's it?!? Doesn't attempt to ask me what the issue is, doesn't try to get me to setup an appointment or otherwise actually do anything to help. Why?? I try later to bring the bike physically to the store to show them the issue and ask if they could take the bike, help me diagnose it and leave it with them until they have the time to get to it. Nope! Turns me away again, telling me to 'setup an appointment'?!?!? Da fuck?!? That's what I'm trying to do here and now!! Tells me they have too many flat tires to fix, won't take my bike, doesn't offer to setup an appointment for me or otherwise help in any way. These guys are just off. As a daily bike commuter I stopped in here with a slow leak, still needed to get about 6 miles to get to my kids daycare on time. I didn't have time for them to be able to fix the tire before I would have been extremely late to my kids as I was already cutting it close. Needless to say I was frantic and stressed. Evan calmly grabbed a brand new pump, handed it to me, said take it and return it in, I can tell you need this. I ended up needing the pump once which kept me from being late to my kids. Lending a pump to a complete stranger on good faith and being able to tell how to help in a bind is phenomenal. These guys gained a customer and future recommendations from me. read more

I paid for a full tune-up and new cables, and the total ended up only being $122.00. Worth it considering the terrible shape it was in before I brought it to the shop. I also want to mention on here that it took them only a few days to finish the bike, but I hadn't picked it up in almost a month after. Sorry guys! But they did not make me feel bad for it at all, there was no extra charge or anything for them keeping it for so long and taking up space. There were multiple customers in the shop while I was picking up my bike, but the staff were able to keep everyone taken care of with friendly, helpful service. Went to this place today as I needed to pump my tires. This place was awesome and allowed me to pump tire no charge. I inquired about bikes and the level of enthusiasm and information the dude had was great. I felt like I was talking to my brother or friend, not a sales guy. They have sooo many great used and new styles. I'm tired of going to places that have Trek and Specialize. This place has great brands you won't see at a lot of shops. If you want hood bikes go to Long Beach and go to The Bicycle Stand, I'm going to come back and get the gravel bike as the dude did a great job of explaining its uses from an everyday point of view. Only complaint is I wish I lived closer (not a complaint ;) ) but plan a day to come here and have coffee and food next door. Great location read more

I started looking around for a simple, clean, single-speed bike and since my knowledge was limited I decided to enlist an expert's advice. I walked into this shop and looked around a bit. It was maybe 1 min (2 mins max) before I was greeted by Nicole (I believe she's the owner?) and she was incredibly helpful and welcoming. She mentioned they offered test-rides and could also order me a wide variety of options. She listened to what I wanted and offered additional information to help my narrow in on my desires. After sizing me up, she had one of her techs (Josh, I think?) do a quick check-up on the bike and then sent me out for a quick ride to see how I liked the bike. The sizing was great and I really enjoyed the ride. When I came back, he made a few additional tweaks to make sure they could get the fitment just right. I didn't purchase the bike that day as I was still gathering information but they offered to call and check on availability of the model/color I was interested in. It's pretty rare these days to get such great customer service. My 10 year old Linus that I had used for New York City Commuting needed a little love when I moved to Long Beach -- there were a few busted spokes and I needed a new sprocket on the back. I took it into the Bicycle Stand late on a Saturday afternoon and told them to do whatever it takes to bring the bike back up to snuff. I was totally surprised when they called me later that day to say it was completed, and that it would be $44 for everything. These guys could have easily sold me chains and cables and all kinds of stuff, but they just fixed what was broken and did it quickly. They are super nice and friendly and I would recommend them to anyone who needs a new bike or help with their old one. read more

They get one star because of their inventory. However I'll never ever return. Here is why: My experience was not at all what I expected per their many prior positive reviews. When I entered , I requested to view the double seater bikes (tandem). I was told they had none with the exception of 2 older vintage ones that were very costly. In fact, the original response of the sales guy really excited me as I've always wanted a vintage bike; so I asked to see both of them. However, the sales man then made it appear as if I could not afford either of them and rudely gave me a rough estimate of their costs. (800-2300). I then said; " great... can we take them down off of the wall and take a look, as I'd like to buy one." I also asked for a solid Quote / price rather than a rough estimate. This is when he returned and provided me with significantly higher pricing, but this did not stop me. His response was: " no matter what I won't release it for you today because we have to do a safety check and no I'm not taking them down." . He was rude and unhelpful. When I told him they were going to loose out on a sale he said "ok cool." So... I left. He was a smart ass kid with a poor attitude. Obviously either raised wrong with either bad education or lacking customer service It was unbelievable and it was clear he was merely an hourly worker doing the owner of this entity a huge disservice because I truly was going to purchase the bike on a whim. I didn't care if I was overpaying. I wanted a fun day for my partner and I as I was going to help him learn how to ride a bike. Instead, we went to the dealer and bought a hybrid X5. Yes, I suppose I was dressed in gym clothes and rags but who cares.. the bicycle store sales man likely judged me due to my attire as I just worked out and it didn't appear I could afford said bicycle. Shame because I just wanted a cool vintage bicycle and a good time with my partner on our second anniversary. read more

For a few weeks I have been looking for a bicycle shop that would raise my handle bars. This should be a simple task, but one of the screws was stripped. So I called The Bicycle Stand and they told me to bring it in. I was greeted by Robert. He was friendly, professional and optimistic. So I left it there. He called a short time after and said that he'd keep trying, but nothing had worked so far. Then he called and said it was fixed. I remember when I used to love coming to the bicycle stand. Owners were great and we purchased two bikes from here. Lately the customer service has been the worst. Walked in a few weeks ago and although I was the only person in the store felt like I had to force someone to attend us. Wrote it off as somebody possibly having a bad day. Then last week my wife made an appointment to get our bikes tuned and was told to drop them off today anytime. Called in to let them know that we were on our way to drop them off and were told that that it was too late to drop them off and that we needed to make another appointment on Monday. They wouldn't even let us make the appointment right then. The guy sounded like he really didn't care if we came back. Probably the worst customer service that I've experience at any business. I come to this shop a bunch for my bike. The other day I came in for a broken rim that they unfortunately they could not replace due to lack of single rims, (happens) so I was forced to take it to a different shop. While at the other bike shop, I was lied to as they tried to up-sell me on parts I did not need. My point is, YOU WILL NEVER, have that problem at the Bicycle stand. Being a huge bike fanatic I have been to most bike shops. Stumbled upon this place in passing and decided to walk in. Felt like I stepped back in time. All kinds of vintage bikes hanging on the wall. Sales person immediately acknowledged me and just said "holler if you need anything" and left me alone. After close to 30 minutes of admiring all the classic bikes I finally brought my eyes down to the floor level and saw a beautiful metallic green Bianchi Iseo Disc. Sales person came over to discuss the bike, took it for a spin and minutes later was rolling out of the store with my new bike. These are the tings that stood out to me about this shop.... 1) No pressure (I felt comfortable looking around and in fact had I felt pressure, I probably would have walked out sooner and not have found my bike) 2) Shop workers are knowledgeable by not arrogant. 3) Shop mechanics are real shop mechanics, some shops just have guys that know how to turn a wrench and assemble a bike based on what it should look like. I had some difficult questions to be answered and they took care of all my questions with ease. 4) Was treated like an A+ customer despite buying one of the cheaper bikes in the shop. I got a job closer to home so I wanted a commuter road bike to save on gas. I went to a few different bicycle shops in Long Beach but found a lot of bikes that were more than I needed (I don't need 21 speeds for getting around town) or were only one speed. The first time I went into the Bicycle Stand I was just browsing, I wanted to look at more places before I made a decision. I was greeted by the owner Nicole who showed me her selection of different bikes and the options they could provide. She was very patient and friendly despite it almost being closing time. She advised me to come back when there was more time so I could test out a bike or two. When I was ready to buy the friendly staff of the Bicycle Stand showed me both their new and vintage bikes. I decided on a vintage Univega Mixte which had a new handlebar and tires. The purchase came with a complete refurb of the bike where they replaced the wired, checked the tires/chains and polished the frame. I also bought a new seat which is obscenely comfortable. Great shop and love their new location. Only one thing, if you are looking for a beach cruiser or off-road bike this probably isn't the place for you. They specialize in road bikes. read more
