I got a job closer to home so I wanted a commuter road bike to save on gas. I went to a few different bicycle shops in Long Beach but found a lot of bikes that were more than I needed (I don't need 21 speeds for getting around town) or were only one speed. The first time I went into the Bicycle Stand I was just browsing, I wanted to look at more places before I made a decision. I was greeted by the owner Nicole who showed me her selection of different bikes and the options they could provide. She was very patient and friendly despite it almost being closing time. She advised me to come back when there was more time so I could test out a bike or two. When I was ready to buy the friendly staff of the Bicycle Stand showed me both their new and vintage bikes. I decided on a vintage Univega Mixte which had a new handlebar and tires. The purchase came with a complete refurb of the bike where they replaced the wired, checked the tires/chains and polished the frame. I also bought a new seat which is obscenely comfortable. Great shop and love their new location. Only one thing, if you are looking for a beach cruiser or off-road bike this probably isn't the place for you. They specialize in road bikes. read more

My boyfriend re-built/painted a bike for my birthday last year and this place did the finishing touches: a new seat, new brakes, tires and lovely cork wrapped handle bars. (They even went in on the surprise, hiding my bike in the store so I wouldn't know why we were there.) Since then I have come to The Bicycle Stand for all my biking needs. The staff is extremely knowledgable and helpful. I am not knowledgable about bikes at all and they are always patient and understanding. They also have worked on several repairs for my bike, going out of their way to find parts that fit (I have a vintage bike and some newer parts won't work.) I purchased a beautiful vintage bike from them about 6 months ago--I since started commuting to work my bike and realized my commute would be much more enjoyable on a lighter bike. The bike is super good looking, has vintage details, and is extremely comfortable to ride. Eric helped me out fit my ride with a lock, back rack, and lights. Lots of great looking bikes here. From new bikes to vintage bikes. This is a great little shop. I'm a shorty and not many bikes fit me well. It was hard to find store that stocked small enough frames that I can ride and compare against each other. I'm glad they had 3 different commuter/cruiser bikes for me to try. I tried out 2 different versions of the Linus bikes they had, the dutchi 3 and the scout 7. I also tried the Bianchi equivalent. I ended up ordering a Linus scout 7, the frame and wheels fit me well and the bike was easy and comfortable to ride. The shifting was good and I liked it better than the internal hub of the dutchi 3. The Bianchi though the frame fit me well, it came with larger wheels that felt a bit more cumbersome to start than the other two. The staff was very friendly and super helpful in answering questions about racks, bags, and baskets that would be best for my new bike. They were all very knowledgeable. They also checked each bike for safety before I took them for a test run. I like that. I am a very happy customer. Thank you. Hands down the best bicycle shop in the county. This past xmas i searched high and low for leather seat/wood crate for my wife's Linus we bought the year prior. All the other bike shops from Orange-Tustin-Costa Mesa didn't have any in stock and if they did, they wouldn't swap out a seat they had on a floor model. I finally made my way back down to The Bicycle Stand at their new location in Long Beach. Evan sold us our Linus the year prior and was available to swap out a seat and sell me a high quality crate for my wife's bike. I just went to the shop with my '64 Schwinn which is in need of an overhaul. Initially, the staff was very helpful coming to the car to look at the project. For an estimate from "the expert", my bike in pieces was brought in the shop by the staffer and myself. After receiving the estimate, I informed "the expert" I wanted to continue to look around. The gentleman that initially helped me had gone to lunch. I was not provided any help to return the bike to my car, therefore I had to make multiple trips as three men stood around and worked on other bikes. I don't care if they are best in town. If that is how you are going to treat a customer, I will pay more and go elsewhere. I gave two stars because the first staffer was nice and helpful. read more

Found Missing parts when I try to install them. 3- rode back to LBC for the for the missing parts. They took long enough to find the missing parts. Then I grabbed some pedals i wanted to buy.. Just moved back to Long Beach and I wanted to find a good local bike shop. These guys are simply amazing. I brought my 3 speed Electra cruiser into them with a squeaky rear break. They worked in it for a couple of days, but they could not get it to stop squeaking. Apparently, I need a new rear tire, which is pretty spendy, so I'll have to put off the repair. When I asked the guys how much I owed them, they said no charge because they could not fix it. They were honest and upfront in telling me that the squeak may just work itself out. I'm going to ride my bike around for another month or so, and if the squeak persists, I will definitely be returning it to these guys for repairs. read more

I awaited the resolution of the 'warranty' repair for a Linus bike, 3 mos. new and spokes started poppin' on back wheel. no curb jumping or throwing bike down the stairs. Has never been transported by car since new purchase. It took a week to replace the back wheel under my warranty w/ the store itself. They were delayed by Linus a bit but it did get resolved. I am carrying stuff on the saddle bags and riding about 80 miles per week. I use it as my commuter bike previously a Schwinn road bike. Love the bike its comfort and smooth ride, good shifting gears, The owner herself is amazing and when I brought a wire basket I bought there w/ the bottom had fallen out she was a bit mortified. I offered to test any other biking materials for their vendors :d A week ago I mentioned that on Instagram and they actually messaged me that they'll send a thank you to me and the store. The bicycle stand is unique in that they do low and high end bikes. There is literally a bike for everyone in this neighborhood store, and the service can be beat by no one. This was the third shop that I had went to. The first two shops were very elitist and made me feel like cycling would be too difficult for someone like me to really invest in. I came to this shop on a whim. They are in my neighborhood and across the street from my favorite pub. I went in expecting the same attitude as the other shops. What I found instead were two amazing people. Evan and Nicole. They were polite, knowledgable and above all PATIENT. Evan explained all of the options available for my ideal ride and took the time to pay attention to my my movement on the bike to ensure accurate fit and even let me take several of the bikes on a short trip to feel it out. 6 STARS. STELLAR customer service; after my second visit they began referring to me by name. Even though I don't ride the type of bike they specialize in, EVERYONE is ALWAYS helpful, treating me and my kids like million dollar customers. Many times I've gone in for advice with questions and they have taken my bike, looked it over, tweaked it here and there and not charged me a penny (though I wouldn't mind had they done so!) Even when the shop is busy, more than one of the employees will at least stop to take a second to sincerely say hello to at least acknowledge you are there to let you know you are appreciated. I've never seen less than two mechanics working, and these guys are masters and genuine craftsmen: and they definitely love what they do and do it well. I have never seen anyone rush or brush off a customer, they always take plenty of time to thoroughly discuss the customers needs and wants and are even willing to offer ordering parts if they don't carry them. Even casually, many of them have asked about my kids and if they like their bikes and if everything is working ok. I recall once when the kids and I had been riding and stopped in winded and sweaty, the first thing they asked us was if we wanted water or air in our tires. Over the last year and a half I've upgraded one old bike, bought two fixies for my kids and built a custom track bike before I had discovered this shop. I honestly wish I had given my money to these guys instead: as long as they dont mind tinkering with fixed gear, they definitely have a customer for life. As I am in retail as well, this shop highly impresses me, is EASILY the best bike shop in Long Beach, and quite possibly the best BUSINESS in Long Beach. read more

A.m.a.z.i.n.g customer service. We walked in there today and they were packed! Not long after we were there we could see why. They had a great amount of staff working and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. We went in looking for new, larger tires(if possible) for my husbands giant road bike. Josh helped us and he was so knowledgeable about the bike and knew what kind of tires could go on there and how big we could go. He got us everything we needed and then some, he even went out to the front of the store and put a new seat on my bike. We got two seats, two tires, two tubes, and a back mount thing (sorry I'm not techy) for around $200 and they tuned up his bike a bit and installed everything for us. We had been to other shops in the area (2nd st) and felt the attitude of the people working there was very condescending. This shop is so far from that. They were so welcoming, kind, and helpful. We will FOR SURE be back, not to mention sending every one of our neighbors there. read more

Super recommend! I didn't have a place for my classic Schwinn at my last couple of places so I asked my parents if they would hold on to it for me until I found a place I could really use it. I imagined it was nestled safely in the garage drinking hot cocoa and wrapped in my baby blankie while it patiently waited for my return to reclaim it. I moved to Long Beach and swung by my folks' to discover my lovely old bike was laying on it's side, basket bent, tires flat, rust taking over its beautiful chrome. I contacted The Bicycle Stand and they quoted me a tune up price over the phone, told me the best times to drop it off, and were so helpful in answering all my questions and alleviating my concerns that my bike would never recover. They quoted me a week and a half, maybe two weeks until it was ready with all the other Summer orders they had, and instead they got it back to me within a week! They were so encouraging and helpful and even helped with suggestions for where to go biking in my new neighborhood. Evan, Conner, Thomas, you guys are great.
