The quantities are large easy to split. The Alamo was large but the stuffing was mostly just eggs didn't taste any chipotle cream sauce at all. The food came out fast and was delicious, and the service was friendly. I would recommend in the future to not have the bus boy vacuum while guests are eating. We understand that the staff wants the clean up to be quick so that they can leave and enjoy the rest of their weekend, but vacuuming while guests are eating is not only loud and interrupts conversation, but it is also awkward when he is trying the get around your feet, as well as a little unsanitary considering the dust particles that are probably being distributed into the air and more than likely onto the food. read more

Stopped in here while visiting Independence. Highly recommend making this on yur list if on the area. Enjoyed the corned beef hash and eggs with a side of grits. I ordered the Ben-Yay, which are three 1/2 biscuits that are dipped in a batter and fried and served with a caramel sauce. Get it on the side so you can decide how much to use. So I never have really cared for this restaurant, however, I did suggest it because it was on the way to where we were going. It was last Saturday at 11:00 and they were so busy you would have thought it was Sunday. We were told 15-20 minute wait and it was 15-20 minutes. Our food was out unbelievably fast. Ordered the La Vida Burger with soup and a biscuit as take out and was not disappointed Stefanie took my order over the phone and was able to give me meal options since i do not like french fries also she told me the price and a time for pick up. When I came in to pick up my meal the host directed me through a long wait line to the counter I was quickly greeted from the wait staff with a smile and hello may I help you. They were busy! I cant believe so many people fit in there at once. I was offered a to go Pepsi while I waited for my food to be completed. It was only a minute after the time she'd previously suggested but i took the offer. I used the restroom down a bright yellow hallway. It was clean and stocked. When my food came out it was neatly in a brown bag and boxes with butter, condiments and plastic ware. She asked my if I had a preference for a flavor of jam and I was pleased to hear apple butter was an option. I was very happy with this experience. I even tipped the waitress a bit extra since she was so friendly. I imagine the weekends are kinda crazy there. The ice cubes are the best also.
