Overall, pretty good. Depending on the time of day or who is cooking back there, ordering pizza by the slice can be iffy. I've gotten a few where they seem super fresh and great. A couple times, I feel like it was a bad reheat job in a microwave. (They have premade pizzas they sell by the slice and they just add some more toppings and reheat it.) My opinion, the sides are much better than the pizza itself. We had ours delivered, it was not late at all. The crust was tough. I ordered the ricotta and spinach with chicken. The spinach was not what I expected, it looked more like over cooked broccoli. I feel as though the base pizza is made and then you add the additional toppings. However if this is New York style it is amazing, and the staff at The Big Slice know what they are doing while making a pie. Whether you want it by the slice, whole pie, or even stuffed pie; this place is hands down the best pizza spot in Springfield. I've had both by the slice and whole pies. The C.B.R. (Chicken Bacon Ranch) is delicious, the toppings are good sized, the ranch is just enough to give it a hint of the flavor, and every bite had something in it. The Supreme Ruler is another favorite of my families. With fresh cut meats, diced veggies, and enough cheese to make it perfect. It's not bad to taste a simple pizza, nothing awesome. They aren't only best of the top of the pizza, but they make a real pizza, remind me that tradition of New York. Very good concept, but the service is sub-par. The atmosphere is very laid back. Be prepared to take care of yourself if you need something. There is lite but no true table service. This was awesome and the by-the-slice model is my favorite since my husband and I like to try different types of pizza instead of committing to one thing. I LOVED the plain cheese slice and his veggie was awesome too. We both tried the creamy spinach and while I felt less than thrilled (it was like eating a manicotti entree on top of my folded slice of pizza) he was 100% impressed with it and it was his favorite thing there. I'll definitely be back for a slice soon, this place was simple, clean, and most importantly serves up delicious food at a fair price. We've gone to Big Slice for the last time. My boyfriend got a couple of slices and I got one' to go. My slice was much smaller than their normal slices, which I could live with except the onions and peppers had been just sprinkled on top and had barely been cooked at all (basically, raw). I called to speak to the manager and he told me that's just how it is if you order supreme without mushrooms. I repeated 'The veggies are pretty much raw'... And I asked if this is the quality they always produce and he again indicated that it is. Don't pay for awful, greasy, poorly cooked pizza served by rude people. I love big slice. Every time I come in, the staff are super laid back and willing to help. I don't eat meat often, so them having vegetarian options is pretty great. Their spinach pizza is amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a fresh slice. I've only ever had "older" pizza one time and it was during rush. The pizza wasn't old, just had sat for a few minutes and wasn't piping hot. I'm sorry to say I was very disappointed and don't plan on going back. This was my 2nd time. The first time was for lunch during the week and everything was great. This time I took my two kids with me on a Friday night. The empty tables were all dirty so I cleaned my own. The CBR slice I got was like warm and had the texture of cardboard like it had been sitting out for awhile. I had to ask twice for our garlic nots and we finally got them with a side of cold dipping sauce after we had each already finished our two slices of pizza. The staff was friendly enough but not super inviting. Maybe they were just short handed tonight. Got delivery, been a while so I gave it a try. Pie was lip sided and head very little concern for distraction of toppings or appearance. Vegetables saved the review from being worse. Crisp and fresh. I typically don't review any businesses, but had to make an exception for The Big Slice. On March 30th I walked into their restaurant and ordered a 26" all meat pizza, a small order of cheese sticks, and a 20oz. bottle of Sprite. My total came out to $35.86. When signing my credit card slip, I places a tip of $4.14 to bring the total to $40.00. This amount seemed fair as I was simply getting takeout. Three days later, on April 2nd, I see that the transaction on my credit card statement shows an amount of $45.00. I went into the location, had the employee find my signed credit card slip, showed that there was a difference, and stated that I wanted to be refunded the excess amount. She flippantly blew me off and said she would need to speak with the owner as he is the only one who calls credit and debit card companies. It is now April 18th, and upon checking my online banking, the total amount is still $45.00. Not only do the employees visibly chat and socialize with each other while there are customers waiting to be served and provided with their meals, but they alter the amount authorized by customers. The staff at The Big Slice are thieves, and take what does not belong to them. I'd highly caution against eating here, and if you absolutely have to, I strongly suggest paying in cash. read more

While eating i overheard a customer debating with an employee about a charge that she definitely was not supposed to be charged. The young lady originally setup her order for delivery but changed it to take out, they took off the delivery fee but not the tip for the delivery. The employee questioned her "why would you want to remove the tip" and the customer explained exactly that there was no delivery done. The employee look totally disgusted, asking to rerun her card for the refund and customer questioned back if the delivery fee can be removed why can't the tip?
