This was the worst dining service I've ever experienced. The food was mediocre, and the overall experience was extremely disappointing. We sat ourselves and proceeded to wait 25+ minutes to even get *WATER* or be addressed by the wait staff. We contemplated leaving multiple times...and exchanged hopeless looks with a few other guests. We then placed our orders and waited another 40 minutes for our food- which all the fries were cold, and the bread seemed to have just come out of the fridge. Sandwiches were okay (looked great), but left more to be desired. After our meals, the check was delivered, but getting it picked up was another story...my fiance had to stand at the bar for probably 10 minutes before personally tracking down our waitress to finally pay the bill. We couldn't get out fast enough. This restaurant has the potential to be great, in such a cute area, and with an eclectic menu...but WOW does their service need an upgrade. read more

Went here today for lunch and it was a pretty bad experience- they were very busy which is great but only had two servers taking care of all the tables. We seated ourselves right away but it took at least 10 minutes for someone to greet us and take the drink order. Then at least another 15 minutes to come back to take our order. We started with the fried green tomatoes and they were yummy but lukewarm at best. I had the Hernando loser plate which the menu describes as grilled chicken with grilled vegetables. Well it was a very small thin dry breast with some chopped yellow squash and zucchini- not nicely grilled vegetables. The food had no seasoning on it. It was supposed to come with tomato soup and since nobody came to check on us after we got the food, we had already finished the meal before we flagged someone down finally to tell them about the missing soup which then took about another 10 mins to get. The tomato soup was tasty thank goodness. The entire visit took us 1 1/2 hours start to finish which is not acceptable for a work lunch. Do not go during a busy Friday afternoon if you don't have a ton of time. Your clothes will smell like a diner when you leave. Not sure I would go back. Maybe if it was empty and we received efficient service. read more

Went for Mother's Day brunch. Food was great, atmosphere is amazing. The only negative part of the experience was witnessing someone (manager? owner?) scolding our waitress for something related to ice water. I didn't hear the whole thing, but a) it's unprofessional (and mean) to scold an employee in the dining area, and b) our waitress was doing a great job. This place has potential, but the owner shouldn't run a restaurant. She can't write a menu, can't pronounce the food, and can't order properly. Took 2+ hours to get no food. We left and went elsewhere after the owner argued with us over a small drink tab that she should have covered after the terrible experience. Food that did come out looked bad, and drinks were bad/watered down. I'd never send my worst enemy here to dine. Avoid at all cost! Clearly by the owners review and lack of tack it confirms she should not own a restaurant. If you have a limited menu your order surplus and ensure the following days menus can accommodate and surplus(restaurant 101), clearly she doesn't know this. Our order was filet mignon and lobster tail, which we learned through the process was just tenderloin cut into sirloins and a half tail, not filet and a tail. The appetizer was a Thai chicken wrap, which was dry chicken in iceberg lettuce, lettuce wraps always come in romaine (cooking 101). The drinks were not worth $150 when everyone complained there was zero alcohol in them. We treated our server graciously and told her several times it was not her fault, and we left her a great tip. What was sad is you tried to send all the servers over to correct it. We had to ask to speak to you, which speaks to your lack of character. You as the owner should have came right away. We have been here twice now. While there is certainly room for improvement, we enjoy the overall ambience. The new flatbreads are a wonderful tasty addition to the menu here. They have a great wine list, and a terrific selection of bottled craft brews. The salsa needs help (more spice). Service has been really good, everyone is friendly and attentive. Live music from local artist is great entertainment. Gotta love open mics, right? The pathetic downtown area of Brooksville really needs this place. From idiot city planners/engineers to Über greedy building owners too stupid to just lower their rents, being able to sustain a business in downtown B-ville is a real challenge. There is a tremendous amount of vacant buildings falling victim to decay simply because of no tenants doing easy daily maintenance. We have seen so many businesses fail because $2700 a month is too tough a nut to crack in a poorly designed downtown. Plagued by needless one way streets, an oversized courthouse addition (that should have been built away from downtown), and rock trucks clogging and stinking up the streets, we are a joke as far as downtowns are concerned. Good fresh comfort food. Another hidden gem in Brooksville. The name threw me off. At first seeing the name Rising Sun, thought it was a Chines Restaurant. Then I seen Bistro & Market. So I figured it was a market that also served bistro style food. Actually none of the above. Some may say it is silly for me not to have understood but branding is very important. Once we rolled the dice and walked in, very impressed. Large open space, beautiful original tin celling and brick walls. Funky old furniture, great comfort food and very friendly staff. Horrible experience! made reservations for 7. The server assigned was obviously new. 5 of us ordered the meatloaf, the others, burgers. 3 meatloafs and the burgers were served. Everyone ate and were finished before the last two meatloafs came out which were ice cold in the middle - not edible. No offers were made to comp any Of the meals. the last 2 people who were very hungry were offered soup and charged for it! The entire table should have been comped. The manager, who was so nice and came around to talk before our meal was served, avoided us like the plague after we asked where the missing meals were. read more

First walk in, and I am excited to eat here. Beautiful interior and pretty fast service. I was looking forward to the local sourced ingredients. Ordered the stuffed tomato, $7 with chicken salad. Menu said it would be served on a bed of lettuce. Very disappointing. The tomato was smaller, which would have been fine if there was a good amount of chicken salad to go with it. A bed of lettuce was about 6 leaves of lettuce. The chicken salad was nutty and sweet, very strange flavor. Not impressed. read more

Something has changed about the place since the last time I went. All of a sudden only serving quite expensive local craft beer on tap and menu prices have jumped. They also seem to have gotten more conservative instead of the great artsy feel it used to have. Asked for a beer they used to carry, but 10 minutes later waitress was serving what looked like a women's group that just came in after me, instead of getting back to me with an answer or to take my order, so I left. Visiting Brooksville for a get away from Orlando. Decided to eat out for the first time since covid started, we choose this restaurant because there was literally one table with two people. Quickly we decided to leave and take our food to go. I wasn't going to leave a review about the things I was unhappy about until after I tried to eat my food. I'm a hairstylist and in my salon every single person has to wear a mask whether you are working on a client or not, no magazines or things for people to cross contaminate, everything is sanitized after every client. there are also many other rules that people need to follow and this restaurant isn't doing any of them except for social distancing. They had paper menus. Cannot be sanitized after someone touches them, not a single employee was wearing a mask, there were tons of pillows on the bench which should have been removed, and when we sat down our table was dirty. I got a medium cooked hamburger to go and when I bit into it sitting in my car, it was completely rare on the inside. I was so disappointed i just threw it away. I shouldn't have been shocked because I was surprised at how quickly our food came out. Will not be back, I recently have lost three people around my age(38) to covid-19 and to see the lack of sanitation(which should be high just because of the fact this is a restaurant) is extremely disappointing. read more

This is a really beautiful space and a great place to stop for a meal or just coffee. The dining room is very spacious with tons of truly interesting art on the walls. From visit 1 to visit 3, the fried green tomatoes went from amazing to a sad, small portion of soggy, wet slop that was both cold and slimy. Service is a little strange. Even when I was one of 3 people in the whole place, it took forever to get help. My last visit I was handed wet plates to put my appetizers on. Like, dripping wet. I had to ask for dry plates. I stopped in for lunch yesterday with a friend. I thought the sandwiches were overpriced, but the descriptions sounded good, so I ordered the Philly cheese steak on a roll. In the description was shaved beef, cheese, caramelized onions, and peppers. For $9.25 I expected a reasonable abundance of the ingredients, but that was not the case. The sandwich was tasteless, served in a roll of the kind that you'd find in the bread aisle at a supermarket - a crust that isn't really a crust, basically just flour & water put together. The shaved beef was skimpy & did not even cover the entire roll; had to search for the onions, and the cheese was also skimpy, not even enough to cover the beef. I brought this to the attention of the waitress, who gave me 3 options - I opted for being comped for it. I ate the side of vegetables, which looked to be no more than 1/2 cup total. In here someplace, my friend said yes to just one bill, because she figured mine was comped, and only her sandwich would be on it. Now the waitress came back and said "Since you've enjoyed the vegetables, we'll only reduce the bill 75%." I thought "Wh-a-a-a-a-t !!! Seriously?" But even though I could hardly believe she said that, I let it go and said ok. So now both are on one bill, and the 75% was taken off my friend's sandwich, which was less than mine - but I kept quiet even though I ended up paying almost $4 for 1/2 cup of vegetables. Now, about my friend's BLT, price $8. 1/2 of the sandwich had about a 2" slice of bacon, and the other half had a longer piece, adding up to no more than 1 slice of bacon. Lots of tomatoes, though. (I just looked at the online menu - it says 5 slices of bacon - well, that must be a joke.) BOTTOM LINE - DON'T BOTHER WASTING YOUR MONEY HERE! read more

The atmosphere is great but very loud because of the set up. They didn't tell us they were out of flat bread until it was time to order. When ice tea was brought out it was hot and the ice that was asked for was never delivered. The people next to us came in after us and were served first. It was said to seat ourselves but we had to clear off a dirty table and push two together. The food was amazing! Went a few weeks ago for dinner on a Wednesday and was told they had buy one get one free appetizers. We got the crab cakes and the goat cheese with honey. They were both soooooo good! For dinner we split the meatloaf dinner. I'm glad we split it because they give you such a large portion. The meatloaf, potatoes, and vegetables were delicious! Got a visit from the owner Catherine. Very pleasant. She didn't recognize us and just pulled up a chair...always good to get out and talk to customers. Food was very good.
