This was walking distance from our air bnb and we got there right around lunch time on a Friday. It's got a very simple and delicious menu! I went with the bourbon drink called The Nomad and then the Cubano 1/2 size. They do have a small patio in the back that was perfect seating for us with our own trays to eat with. Close to home a slightly longer walk but so worth it. It's very small but has a great vibe. Love the service and all that we have ever eaten there has been so delicious. They have a cute little back patio ( very small) and three or four cafe tables out front in addition to the high tops inside , a couple window seats and the bar. The ambiguous sign invites you to hop in. After passing by numerous times thinking it was a tattoo shop, I came to find a cozy bar sandwich spot. You would swear its been around forever, but it only set up shop less than a year ago. They did a great job maintaining the character right up to the tin ceiling. Split in half, one side is a bar and the other is where they prepare the food and you can order take out. I had the Cubano and German potato salad. I like how you can order half or full size depending on your appetite. I enjoyed both items, but I will not order them together next time. They both have a pronounced mustard taste, which I like not but not at the sam time. It is the perfect spot for a midnight munchie or night cap in this residential part of the city. The Black Rabbit in Savannah was a pretty disappointing experience. I stopped by around 11:50pm on a Monday, not realizing the kitchen closed at midnight. There was a woman behind the counter with a grunge haircut, wearing a Long Legs movie t-shirt, making food about 15 feet away. I stood there for a while, but she completely ignored me. She kept making sandwiches and refused to make eye contact or acknowledge me at all. I tried to get her attention a few times, and it was obvious she saw me but chose not to engage until the clock hit midnight. Then, right on the dot, she came over and told me the kitchen was closed. It was especially frustrating since I had been standing there patiently, waiting for her to finish whatever tasks she was doing to keep herself busy. The whole interaction felt unnecessarily cold and dismissive. I've always liked this place and even considered it one of my favorite go-tos, but this experience really changed how I feel about it. This is a fun little place with drinks made the way they should be, reasonable prices, and truly great sandwiches. They don't have a huge menu, but what they do offer is done well. This is more a bar that serves food and not a place to eat that has drinks. With all the amazing reviews I was expecting a sandwich to blow my socks off but it was small and lacking in flavor. They value doesn't add up to what you get. If I'm getting a deli sandwich for $8+ then I expect to at least be content by the end of it.. I was still starving and looking for other things to eat. We saw this place as we were walking back from dinner and stopped in for a drink. They have a few local beers on tap and the server/bartender was attentive and nice. It is not a huge place, but it was filled with people who seemed like regulars and it was a pleasant vibe inside....so much so that my wife and I decided to come back the next day for lunch. We arrived right at 11am and you know its a good sign when there were multiple people coming in for orders a few moments after it opens. We also had a cocktail at 11 because, hey, its vacation right? I had the eggplant stacker and she had the Cubano, each half size and it was plenty of food that also tasted wonderful. Seating is limited and it was the day before Xmas but the bartender was not as egregious as you'd like but of course, I was not a regular. Seating when found is tight and uncomfortable but the alcohol helps that feeling dissolve over time.
